Nothing but good to say about this pub. We were earlier than our booking but not a problem. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful with a good selection of food and drinks. Meal was excellent, nothing fussy, just a good pub menu. Absolutely loved our evening and wouldn’t hesitate to go back

Have been here many times , but the quality of the food has been poor the last couple of times. My wife and I ordered roast beef for lunch , and the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were obviously pre prepared and were like warm at best. Staff were good but the food and value for money let the pub down.

I had not been here for a year or so based on my very average food experiences in the past so I thought it was time to try it again. Mistake! Nothing has improved, just the prices have gone up. All the food is average quality at best, desserts pricey and, honestly, barely average. There are lots of other places to eat in Woodbridge and Melton and i would definiteley advise try those first.

We visited on the last Monday in January with 2 friends when the 50% off food offer was running. We were welcomed warmly but the service overall was disappointing and the food left a little to be desired. Everything was OK but only OK and having visited here before I think the service and food quality have declined. I had the gluten free beefburger (with cheese) the burger bun was rock solid and inedible and the cheese was non existent - when I pointed this out to our server and the manager it was acknowledged but shrugged off. Whilst I understand they were running a promotion and very busy this does not mean the service of food should be substandard should it? We have not been back since (in February) but we have visited the Wilford Bridge 5 times since and had brilliant service and excellent food each time - and they have had the promotion running and been very busy. I am not sure why we would go back to The Coach & Horses now

Service was amazing. There was one lovely lady called Lindsey, she mad the experience 10/10 she was really kind and looked after us. The food we had was outstanding, the duck breast was cooked to perfection and the 8oz steak was also cooked perfectly.

The restaurant was extremely busy, yet the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was great, and the sticky toffee pudding, which was actually my husband's, was the best I've ever tasted! The prices were more than reasonable, especially the set menu prices, and we will certainly visit again. We will ensure we recommend to family and friends too.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The service was good, with the food being ordered and delivered promptly. Having visited two of the other inns in the ‘chain’ the previous two nights, we were a bit disappointed by the food in comparison.

I cannot fault the food. The steak and chicken were so tender. However it felt like there were a lot of people on shift but it lacked customer attentiveness. I had to ask for another drink, to order dessert and for the bill. Even after I’d asked for the bill, nobody came to take payment. 3 blokes at the bar. We were the only remaining diners so I can’t say it was because they were busy. They kept chatting to the blokes at the bar and neglected their last remaining diners. So disappointing after a lovely meal and a fantastic initial welcome from a lady called Aubrey. I’m guessing she finished her shift because once we’d left ordered we didn’t see her again. Went for an early lunch. Firstly- the food was excellent. We had three roasts, all of which were presented well and tasted fantastic. Enjoyed getting unexpected Cauliflower cheese and the beef was the best we'd had in a very long time.Sadly, our visit was somewhat undermined by the terrible service we received. After arriving at 12:30 and ordering our food 10 minutes in, we were left for just over an hour before our mains arrived. We had a portion of bread and olives which were served quickly, but the roasts were nowhere to be seen once we had finished the nibbles. We had to nudge a waiter, after which we finally received our food.That being said, the quality of the food is excellent and I don't think anyone should be put off by this review. They deserve a full 5 stars and it would be my hope that the service matched the food next time we visit.

We stopped here whilst on holiday staying locally, staff were very friendly and accommodating. A good choice of kids meals were available to keep them happy! I chose the steak and ale pudding which was to die for and my wife had the Bhaji burger which also looked delicious. Will certainly be returning on our next visit to the area.

I tried to order the prawns in filo pastry as a main with a bowl of chips. I have done this in the past I am sure. however, I was informed this is not allowed so I had to change my meal.I am baffled as to what difference this makes and surely you should be aiming to keep a customer happy?Shame as I am always very complimentary of the Coach and Horses but this left me very disappointed.

Immediately after leaving we both experienced stomach problems and an urgent need to use a toilet.Reported it to the restaurant by email and they suggested it may be Covid-19. Have always enjoyed here for years until tonight. Normally a fabulous atmosphere with brilliant staff and fabulous food.Tonight ...40 minute wait to have order taken, another 25 minutes to get the food. The two burgers lacked bacon (arrived late and cold) and sauces ordered with them; charged full price!. The vegetarian burger lacked the bun and onion rings BUT charged full price. The pint of diet coke arrived in a half pint CLEARLY CRACKED glass, charged full price. Luckily I complained and got a SMALL reduction.I am so so disappointed for my son's birthday treat that ended so flat.

Such a shame to post a negative review given the current circumstances.Despite a sign that table service was the norm no one was monitoring arrivals - hence service far from great - a couple walked after a ten minute rate for a couple of drinks to arrive while we were there..So maybe not enough staff or maybe just poorly managed.On the + side the food was fine - well ok. On balance others in the area are doing better an all fronts.

Came here the night before November lockdown. Made a mistake with email booking and had a lovely member of staff sort everything out for me! Staff are so lovely there and wearing the proper PPE and keeping distance. Nachos were amazing, best I've ever had! Also had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, I'm in love with the sauce, again the best I've had!! My other half had the Burger and he demolished it. Best meal we've had in ages. We came been here a few months ago at the end of lockdown and I thought the experience was average BUT today it was great! I came here today with my husband, brother in law and husbands mum. It was lovely. I had the smoked haddock from the specials board and swapped the new potatoes for mash, maybe a little too much mash but good none the less. Wide range of specials, plus the two course set priced menu for £12.95 and the main menu. Service was good and friendly. My husband and his mum had the burger (main menu) which was nice and came with onion rings. My brother in law had the pasta from the specials, which came with garlic bread and also was nice. We had a larger round table by the fire, was ideal. In all a fab experience and will return.

While in Woodbridge we phoned to see if we needed to book a table, very helpful on the phone took our booking, when we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our seats, we were shown the menu and given time to look so did not feel rushed, when the food came to us it was hot and very nice, all the staff were very friendly and helpful .we will call in again next time we are in Woodbridge well done to all the staff.

I am absolutely appalled. i have been to the coach and horses a few times before but never had it been this bad. we walked in and the customer service was awful, they forgot our starters so our main courses arrived before drinks and starters. once we complained, they took the starters off the bill so that was good. we then got our starters, the nachos were stone cold and soggy. the drinks were dusty. unwashed glasses, the main courses were uncooked and bleeding. utterly appalled and disappointed never seen anything like it.

Popped in here today as it was pouring with rain and we hadn’t booked. Fortunately there was a table available so we checked in and were shown to a nice table. Good spaces between tables and all staff were wearing masks. This was only our 2nd visit to a restaurant since March so we were pleased to see how safe they had made it. We only had time for starters but they were all excellent. Home made broccoli and Stilton soup was described as delicious, the sticky chicken fingers were very tasty but I was most impressed with the homemade nachos. Certainly the nicest I’ve ever had. The waitress was happy to tell us how they were made. (So different to the usual packet of Doritos)I wish we’d had time for a main meal as well but I’m certain we will return and I’m happy to recommend this pub. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A great find.

Ordered a medium rare steak which come out rare and also looked like it was still mooing, was terrible customer service. Took about 30 minutes to bring our food out and there was only 2 main courses that we had! 2 other couples come in about 10-15 minutes after us and had there food about 10 minutes before me. Definitely will not be returning any time soon or in the future!

My former favourite eating place really let me down on Aug 31. We arrived 1 minute late and were greeted by a man who kept looking at his watch. We ordered, wine and starter came, we were chatting so didn't notice the time until people who had come in half an hour after us were getting their meals, we called the waitress who said our mains would be coming but "they were very busy outside", still no manin, had to ask again and then were presented with meals that had obviously been sitting out somewhere, fish batter undercooked on bottom, no triple cooked chips, my friend described ours as bog standard". My meal was equally inedible. Mentioned this to a lovely member of staff who without hesitation took this off the bill. Since we cannot be assured of the previous excellence we will not be going back. HOWEVER, as we have both worked in the hospitality industry, what should have happened is a voucher towards a meal, which probably would have made us consider a next visit. So disappointed

We have eaten at this Excellent Pub restaurant previously and have never been disappointed. Taking advantage of the Governments "Eat out to help out scheme" We recently visited for a late lunch and had an excellent meal, well presented in a Covid safe atmosphere. I was surprised but pleased that they could accommodate us for a table on the day we called up. Before lockdown I couldn't get a table at a decent time for weeks. I could see why they could fit us in once we arrived. We were stuck in a drab dowdy part of the pub which had absolutely no atmosphere. The person who greeted us was so rude. Also although he was wearing a face mask, this wasn't covering his nose!! The food was not good. I chose the chicken with crushed potatoes with pesto and a rich tomato sauce. Firstly I couldn't find the pesto and the "rich" tomato sauce tasted like tomato soup. The whole meal was so dry and the chicken had been reheated and not cooked fresh, it needed something to give it moisture like a rich tomato sauce!! Horrible. My husband had the fish and chips which he said was ok. It was an expensive meal that served cheap food. We will never go back. I'm so disappointed as I was led to believe this was the best pub in the chain. We wished we had gone to Milsoms for freshly cooked food!

We went here today and were so pleased with our choice. Despite it being incredibly busy we only waited a few minutes for our drinks, our mains were delivered in good time and the puddings were also very quick. We couldn't fault the food. I had an amazing salmon an croute -perfect salmon, lovely pastry and delicious veg. The rest of my family also very much enjoyed their food. We had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was excellent! The children had a brownie sundae. It was big! We thought it should also have been available on the adult menu! Again, it was delicious. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal here. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it here!

This was our first visit to the pub and I’m sad to say we were very disappointed today. The member of staff welcoming us couldn’t find our reservation and then we were not looked after - we had to ask for a pint of beer three times before it appeared, we had to ask for empty plates to be cleared away and finally, having waited for around 45 minutes for our mains and having chased the order, we gave up, paid our bill and left. The worst thing was that telephones were ringing almost constantly with no member of staff answering them - this added further tension to the experience. We did receive an apology as we left but the damage had been done.

Went here for lunch today, four of us, service was friendly but slow. Had to ask for things a couple times like water before getting them. Food took a while to come and was ok. I had the stuffed chicken with pesto crushed potatoes. The chicken was a little dry.. other meals were fish and chips and Cajun chicken, all nice. Dessert, was Black Forest trifle which was enjoyed and we had the selection of ice creams which were nice.In all it was a pleasant meal.

My husband and I paid a visit to the the coach and horses yesterday. We live on the London/Essex borders and were staying in Woodbridge. We were influenced by the Trip Advisor rating of this restaurant when we made our booking - #3 of 55! Consequently, we were very much looking forward to an outstanding dining experience. Sadly this was not to be. On arrival, we were escorted to a quiet indoor area that was extremely hot and stuffy, without any ventilation at all. I requested an outside table but was refused. But to be honest, the outside area amounted to an up-graded car park over-looking the main road into Woodbridge, so wasn't too disappointed. Having then chosen an empty table by the windows (which I immediately opened) I was asked to move to a different table. Not sure why? The food was good and fairly priced. Service was as good as could be expected in the current climate and we were made to feel safe. Towards the end of our meal, a family of four arrived and sat at said table next to the window. They were very quick to comment on the heat and stuffiness of the indoor eating area and were offered a table outside, leaving my fist choice of seating completely free for the whole duration of our stay. So cross! The whole experience was completely average and somewhat confused as to why the coach and horses has been so highly ranked.

We have been here a few times now and were keen to return once it reopened. There is a marquee outside plus some open air tables available. We booked to eat inside. You had a choice of a disposable menu or scanning the menus. Nice menu which is different to other Deben inns. Food was good but we found things were a bit pricey compared to others in this group. Service was friendly enough. After the meal we heard bar staff talking about a large group of children that the parents had let run around the restaurant during their stay. Whilst I agree with them that it completely negated the social distancing measures they they had put in place. Someone should have mentioned this to the parents during the service.With a combination of the prices here plus the poor controls on social distancing, I did not feel this is a totally safe place to eat and we have decided not to return.

We went out as a family for the first time since lockdown and chose to go to the Coach and Horses because it was the last place we ate at on our Anniversary on March the sixteenth.Slightly nervous about how the experience would pan out but no need to worry. The manager has made a brilliant job of adhering to the new rules.The restaurant staff as friendly and welcoming as always.The food tip top as usual.We will be coming back soon as you are by far our favourite place to eat.Well done!

My first Sunday roast dinner out since lockdown! We were so spoilt by our roast which contains meat, big Yorkshire pud, seasonal vegetables, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, parsnip with a jug of yummy gravy! We polished every single item on our plates and I wanted more!!! It was a huge plate but it was so delicious that I wanted more of it! It beats a Christmas dinner to be honest, it was worth every single penny!

Our first meal out since lockdown was a big success with good food, good service, a great atmosphere and very reasonable prices for both food and drink. We were lucky enough to have a warm evening so we sat outside. There was a real buzz without being rowdy and it reminded us of evenings out in our favourite mediterranean destination.

Thank you to the Mayflower staff and chefs for a very wonderful evening meal, service was friendly and efficient.

We have just had a takeaway roast dinner, it was absolutely delicious! After shielding for over 3 months was a real treat! Beyond my expectations. Thank you so much for opening up. Highly recommend.

The Coach & Horses has always been my favourite of the Deben Inns, and my wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal at the pub for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. Despite being short-staffed, service didn’t really suffer, and the manager couldn’t have been more accommodating. It did mean we had to move through to the back of the restaurant, which isn’t as “pubby” as the bar area, but it didn’t ruin the evening at all. Food was superb as always; we shared a generous portion of homemade nachos to start, plus olives. My monkfish special was delicious, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her rump steak. This pub never fails to impress.

Well.... I can only say well done guys!!!Though the world is closing down and people are being advised to avoid your local, pubs/restaurants have had to get creative. The Coach and Horses has risen to the challenge and started a take away service!!!And what a service it is. Collected, brought home, piping hot and really tasty. Guys, I can only hope more people support you at this time by using this service and can only hope that you keep the take away food going long after all this madness ends!!!#SupportYourLocal.

This is definitely our favourite Deben Inn pub. The staff at the Coach and Horses are excellent. Also friendly, professional and go out of their way to be helpful. They provide such a welcoming environment and nothing is too much trouble . The food is delicious and good value. Keep up the good work
