Half Moon in Suffolk Coastal

Was there for a darts competition, had an enjoyable evening

Disappointing as when booking for 16 including 7 children we were told there would be a bbq apparently the cook was ill so no food.

Grabbed a beer and a gin and lemonade, both tasted a bit odd, maybe the glasses , but not impressed.

Disappointed to find the pub closed "again" after specifically going home back through Walton after a day out in town. After a couple of nice evenings here since the recent take over, we were surprised to find the pub in darkness "again" as we were last week on a different night- Monday ? Twice we tried to come and twice it was closed at 7.30 pm! Shame that they can't committ to running a pub properly and giving it undivided attention like previous owners used to 5 years ago when it was a great pub. Part time pubs get none of our money . Im told that on several nights, it has been closed recently when the owners cant be bothered or cant staff the pub. We had a few drinks in both Trimley pubs afterwards instead which were happy to serve us and stay open even though they were quiet.

Superb local pub for Walton and Felixstowe. Four Adnams ales in fine condition for my visit - Southwold bitter, Old, Ghost Ship and Broadside. A real fire and dartboard makes this a really enjoyable experience.

Good to see the Half Moon being returned to its former glory as a friendly and welcoming family pub. The new owners are doing a great job and I wish them well with their plans to reinvigorate the pub.

Great little pub, warm & friendly

First time i had been in the Half Moon. Good to see James and Tina making an impact and getting stuff done. Look forward to seeing it reach its potential. Friendly staff and a nice cold pint. Look forward to popping in again very soon.

Had a few trips to the half moon since its been taken over. We find it a friendly welcoming pub. Staff and management are friendly and always have a smile. Good choice of drinks available. Our grandkids love going for 'lemonade time' .

Great now it is under new management- Has now been brought back to a 'traditional English pub' with lots of character. Owners and staff are really friendly

Friendly staff, but the pub is a little run down and is due to be taken over by new owners.

This pub used to be very well kept and served the whole range of Adnams beers. A recent visit shows that this is no longer the case as only Broadside was available on the hand pump. The landlord/barman had great difficulty finding a glass clean enough to serve beer in and the other customer had to ask for his glass to be changed for a clean one. A couple came in asking for tea and coffee but were told there was no milk.

Can't rate as it was shut. The website said it opened at 12. A note on the door said 5

Lovely pub, friendly owner, neighbourly atmosphere. There was no food on Saturday afternoon, so I cannot comment.

I have just moved back to the area and visited my old local! What a difference in three years. The old landlady has gone, and the pub is now unkept, has rude staff and smells awful, I notice they make a Sunday lunch if the kitchen is anything like the bar area, then OMG! Bring back the old landlady and let's have a nice pub again.

I was on holiday in the area for a few days and decided to pop in for a few drinks. Well you open the door and get this wave of stench. Landlords were drunk Toilets are disgusting and the garden is full of dog mess . One and only time that’s enough for us. Bloody awful

A traditional pub but has changed since we last went. Instead of a nice snug as well as a public bar, the snug has been taken over by a pool table. The atmosphere has been lost.

Visited here and would not go back people that run it are extremely drunk loud and rude also look like they need a good wash! Embarrassing

walked in to a hostile reception. So called landlady looked like she could do with a good hair brush. Very rude. Appeared to be intoxicated . Raising her voice at customers. I will never go again

Food was awful, bought a chicken club sandwich and ended up with wafer thin chicken you buy from the co-op inside it as well as egg mayo🤷‍♂️

Fantastic night out, friendly staff, great music. Not tried their food, but we will be back to try it out. Child and dog friendly with a play area for the children. Car parking also available.

It's a nice old pub with a good selection of ales on tap. The bar staff are very friendly and their was a really nice atmosphere about the place.

Good old traditional pub serves food nice garden to sit out and eat dart board TV (off when we visited) fair size carpark nice staff will visit again

They gave me liver & bacon with mash which i finished at home, reheated but still so nice and i will eat there again, no matter how i feel they do anything to cater for my illness, they just do it with no excuse they are just great, thank you. Lionel

We have just come home from our sons christening, where we had a family buffet at the half moon. I cannot fault Mary or her staff what so ever. To the price of the buffet to the quality & quantity of the food,it was all flawless. Thank you so much for making today so easy for us x

Just had lunch with my daughter. The food was amazing and delicious. We both had steak and ale pie chips and peas. The pastry was lovely and short the filling was full of flavour and crammed with beef and mushrooms. Will definitely come again. Service very friendly. Can't fault it.

This pub has been a'local' for our family for many years. My dad used to play crib and pay into the Friday Christmas Club when we were children. It still has a lovely atmosphere and the latest landlady also introduced meals. I know the Monday dish of the day is very popular and you have to book, otherwise you may not get a table. The Sunday roasts do well too. Other events are the Beer festivals and music nights, usually with BBQ.

Proper Pub the only one left in Felixstowe

Lovely pub and friendly service. We have on a number of occasions headed back to The Half Moon with receptions after the funeral service.

Always a great pub - a rare type with no music just great beer and service - I would not change a thing!

Vist here regularly, can be clicky, but the ale is good.

A nice and clean place,still has the feel of a pub 50 years ago the staff were friendly and the food was home cooked , the beer was also good.

Probably one of the few remaining real pubs in the area service good beer and providing a welcome atmosphere. Mary the landlady really knows how to make both casual and regular customers welcome.

Called in here while just passing after a lovely walk along Old Felixstowe beach. Wonderful home cooked roast beef lunch which absolutely hit the spot. Great beer and a lovely atmosphere in the pub itself. Will definitely visit again.

This is our local away from where we live and in the many years we have been popping in the beer has always been brilliant and the locals always friendly. I've never eaten there but the food looks good! Beer festivals are fun as well. It's an Adnams house with a guest ale or two available as well.

He usado el half moon varias veces, ya que mover a Felixstowe, y pareció el mejor pub de cerveza de calidad y buen ambiente de pub y la convivencia. Dos bares, carácter, personal amable, y un gran jardín para el buen tiempo. La comida está disponible, pero más de un bar para beber social, la cosa que más me he encontrado a un pub 'tradicional' (con juegos de pub y sin música! )

Nice friendly town pub plenty of beers and ales to choose from,the open fire is nice in the winter and the beer garden is great in the summer..

What an excellent find on a cold wet February day, I found this pub a breath of fresh air in a world of contrived pubs and restaurants with nothing but chemical larger on offer, I sincerely wish I hadn't been driving as the Adnams ales looked attractive. It dates back to 1700s with great pictures of time gone by on the walls, looks like they do some great work also for local kids charities.

What a fantastic sunday roast lunch at this pub. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots, green beans, gravy. Accompanied by, horseradish sauce, and mustard. Great value for money

This place is history ,they even have photos on the wall with men sitting in stocks! Where they would stay until they were unlocked! Photos galore of olden times of Felixstowe and the half moon as it was back in time,they do a book charity where you can purchase any book on lots of shelves,if you like history of felixstowe give this place a look
