The friendliest welcome in a pub or restaurant I have ever had !!! Two young ladies who were obviously happy at work and fitted us in as a last minute booking. And to top it of the food was excellent aswell!! We only had a quick meal but will definitely be back for a longer three course meal in the near future. Thanks all

We had dinner in the Fountain on Friday night. We were meet by friendly staff who showed us to the restaurant. Nice pleasant surroundings with a calm atmosphere. Food all of it was very good and cooked well and seasoned. We left very satisfied and if in the location again would visit this restaurant.

We heard it was under new management. Went there after a long walk. Just wanted drinks and light snacks. I had an absolutely delicious Chicken Casar salad - so big, I could barely eat all of it. My sis-in-law had the mushrooms. We drank cider and coffee. Comfortable, peaceful place for a family catch up. Cheerful pleasant service. Will go again the next time we are down.

Just had Sunday lunch, we haven't been to the fountain for several years, new management have transformed the fountain. Excellent food, service and very pleasant staff, what more could you ask for, will we come back ' of course wr will'

Is this pub ever open!!! Came here with my friends for a walk and lunch and once again it was closed. Im not sure what is going one, this used to be such a good pub but its really gone down hill!!’ Such a shame!!

Nice but not a big lunch time menu

Normally love this place but unfortunately this time very disappointed. My husband chose the Fountain for fathers day, unfortunately could only get 5.30pm slot without realising they closed at 6.30. Place was empty with staff working round us clearing up. Husband had roast pork which was an overdone pork steak, I had roast chicken with was a chicken breast. Very rushed felt we were an inconvenience, better luck next time, hopefully.

Sadly service is still very poor. We had assumed new management would get to grips eventually with all the problems, but sadly not. No welcome, you stand waiting for the manager to bother to look at you. Too much trouble it seems. Young staff try their best but clearly have no training or guidance. We have found this to be the case for several weeks even when they are not busy. We give up after so many months. Sorry as the food is ok.

Very impressed with the Tuddenham Foundation two of our relations were quite late On a Sunday nearly passed the time when they stopped cooking, the staff were very helpful in providing way of getting round this so and waited so that they could join the rest of us, The staff already had worked very Long hours that day So was very much appreciated by everyone, impressive service the food was excellent and would recommend to anyone looking for a good venue look no further than here. And thanks to the staff who had helped out immensely.

Have eaten at The Fountain many times over the years I have to say the food is not as good as it used to be. Shame !!

My partner and I have ate/drank here on occasion for the last 3 years, but it has gone downhill in recent times. Our last meal, the service was not great. Staff seemed disinterested and unsure what they were doing. We asked for more mayo and got asked if there was not any in the pot...yes theres 1, we need more. It seemed like they were rationing sauces. The food was also fairly poor, my partners chicken burger had a really soggy bun, so we had to ask for a new bun. The burger didn't taste great anyway. I ordered a medium rare steak, which came out well done on one side and rare on the other, just really poor especially paying £35 for it, the chef must not be that fussed about the food because it was a careless way to cook a ribeye. This pub is in a great location especially for dog walkers and a nice beer garden for the summer. With better quality food and service we may return again but as of right now we wouldn't go back.

One of our favourite local pubs, which we attended for celebration family meal. Three hours for a Sunday lunch and desert. Very poor Organisation, questionable Hygiene And poor quality, Such a shame as in the past this place has been premium price but high quality. We sincerely hope it can get back to it previous standards ASAP.

Just visited for Sunday roast on Father's day service and food were fabulous despite being very busy. Orders were taken promptly and food arrived quickly. Staff were all lovely and attentive. Will definitely visit again

Went for lunch I had steak and blue cheese Chapata cooked perfectly with a lovely salad staff were friendly and kindly offered me a better seat when she could see I was struggling with out me having to ask very kind

Rare to find this gem . The staff are so friendly and relaxing. Wonderful atmosphere and dog friendly. The food was so moreish. A huge array of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, decent food menu for most diets. This is an amazing gem!! Just a smile and happy place to be. Just sometimes does definitely depend on the day. We went twice . 1st experience was amazing and exciting to return, 2nd was not as exciting and just a bit average. Drinks took a while and so did the food. The wait was worth it for the food , just remember if ordering kids menu to request the drink and dessert that comes with it. The fish and chips were wow. The seafood platter was average the salad was scrumptious and the burger was better than most in the price range. The Sunday menu is comprehensive and a nice afternoon out. Obviously no kids facilities but space to play. With a tennis ball.

The pub garden on a hot day is a delightful find. It wasn't overly busy and the relaxed atmosphere made the afternoon. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to visit again.

Recommended! Me and my partner tried out this local pub/restaurant tonight and the place is so lovely. The food is on the pricey side but 100% worth it. Portions were big and the waitresses were quick and lovely. Drinks were also served quick and to good standard. Bonus is they have a lovely outside seating area with heat lamps which is a big sell point for myself who loves a seat outside.

We have frequented the Fountain for the best part of 20 years. For us, it has always been that little 'extra special ' place to eat at on special occasions, Or, when we wanted a treat. The service, the food and the ambiance has always been, for us, gone that extra mile to make you feel you had a special evening out. Yes, you have to pay a little extra for that, but we didn't mind, because you felt you had a lovely meal and enjoyed the whole experience. However, I'm saddened to say that of late, the Fountain has lost its sparkle!! The waiting staff always used to be dressed smartly (now just faded dirty jeans and t-shirts....something you would expect at a Greene King pub!!) The service on our most recent visit was not what we've experienced before. Our table was sticky from the previous occupants and hadn't been wiped. The table hadn't been set, so the waitress just leaned over the table with cutlery and napkins for us to set it ourselves. I sat with an empty glass for 20 minutes without any waiting staff noticing, so had to order it at the bar myself and take it to my table. The food was tasty, but nowhere near the standard it used to be and nobody came to ask.if everything was ok with our food. I'm afraid the Fountain has, for us, lost its 'finesse'. So disappointing when it's been at the heart of numerous happy family get togethers in years gone by. Please keep up the reputation of the original Tuddenham Fountain, Charles & Scott worked hard for many years to get the Fountain where it is today.....don't expect your customers to pay the same prices if you're not prepared to uphold the standards!! Very disappointed 😔

A little slow, but definitely worth the wait. Our lunch was rather good. Thoroughly recommended.

Had a lovely meal recently, hadn’t been before so wanted to try somewhere different . It also has a lovely outdoor area which is great in the summer. We had fish and chips and liver and bacon. Both very nice. Was just la shame the special of lamb shank had run out - sounded lovely. The service provided by Sarah and the team was super too.

We have really enjoyed having your afternoon teas however went to book another today and the young lady has informed us that you can't book for lunchtime anymore, asked for 12pm which usually do. Owe were informed only after 2.30pm which is disappointing. as many mums who enjoy an afternoon tea lunch together need to be back for the school runs. Sad that you can't be more flexible as you have done previously when booked well in advance.

Great country pub and garden. They are very dog friendly and even have a nice area indoors where you can sit with your dog and have a meal. The Sunday roast is top notch, good portions, well cooked, and great value. The staff are friendly and the young waiting staff are super efficient. There's a lovely garden with a heated covered area where once a month they have live music. Oh, and a huge car park.

Little on offer for lunch compared to what there used to be, such as fish finger baps etc. Opted for a halloumi, mushroom & spinach bap. A very dry bap appeared with mushrooms, tad of spinach & some GRATED halloumi instead of a grilled portion usually served. Halloumi is supposed to be a meat alternative for vegetarians & is never meant to be grated like a hard cheese. It should be well cooked and slightly charred. What sort of chef grates a cheese that is specifically meant for cooking. It was awful. I mentioned this to staff but no apology or compensation was offered. I should have refused it but stupidly didn’t. My friend wasn’t impressed by her lunch either. The appearance of the kitchen staff was not encouraging to return, as well the lack of service. Food used to be well presented and tasty, but it all seems to have changed. I used to regularly meet friends here, but I will not be returning. Another pub on the decline, as shown by the many empty tables on a Friday lunchtime.

Nasty burnt taste. I think it was the gravy. Query raised, but no action was taken by staff. I think on a good day it might be good, but unfortunately it was not so good upon my visit. Would I recommend it it? Well, put it this way, I'd probably give it a second chance.......maybe.

Hours of opening needs to be updated on Google, advised to be open Monday lunchtime on Google but when I arrived after 12.00 it was closed (with no note on the door). Disappointed!

Popped in for coffee after a beautiful morning run. Due to the blue skies on a cold, winter morning the pub was getting quite busy in the early part of the day. Even though we all arrived in different groups at different times ordering half dozen different coffees each time, the staff did an amazing job to satisfy our requests, especially Laurel who was a pleasure to have serving us. A very welcoming pub in a beautiful area of Suffolk.

Seated close to kitchen so noisy and smelly. Food service slow and hugely overpriced. Shocked to be charged £8.20 for a medium wine and soda. Poor vegetarian options. Would not return..Noisy dog also irritating

Jan 24- Claire was a lovely waitress. They looked after us early evening for a quick bite to eat. Airy large space and friendly all over. Shame we didn't stay for a full meal. Recommend

I took my wife here for her birthday as they do calves liver, her favourite dish. Unlike a lot of places we have previously visited the calves liver was cooked perfectly, as was my steak. The desserts were really good too and, although the service was a little slow, the staff were friendly and the overall experience was first class.

Staff very busy but remained cheerful and helpful. A good venue for our family party of ten

Excellent food excellent service

Very lovely pub. The staff is super friendly, I had the roast turkey , the meet was very tender and the vegetables were cooked very well. They have gluten and dairy free options.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends today. The staff were so attentive and despite it being very busy we felt well looked after. The roasts were generous and delicious. A few of us had the coffee and pudding option for desert, which was a coffee and a taster version of the pudding, which was perfect for us and equally as delicious as the main. A special mention to the Manager. She was very helpful and efficient. She was very engaging with the children in our party, making them laugh as she took our orders or served our food. The atmosphere was cosy and festive. All the staff were helpful. A great experience from start to finish. We’ll be going again!

First visit to this pub/restaurant near our local village. Owners and staff very welcoming even with our huge very well behaved Newfoundland dog. The meal was home cooked and excellent. We will definitely be back!!

Had lovely staff serving us , tried to order the special of sausage casserole, unfortunately they had just run out , however I went with my 2nd choice and it was very tasty . Had a great evening and we will definitely be going back again soon.

The Manager was very accommodating and the waitress charming. It would improve if, instead of stacking everything on the plate, the customer chose the vegetables instead as it weakens the offering. Otherwise, very pleasant experience.

We have been going here for many years and have never been disappointed. However recently we have seen a deterioration in the overall quality of service, presentation and food choice and lack of interest in whether we were happy with our meals and needed anything else. It’s so sad as we used to so enjoy taking friends and family but question whether we will be returning😢 Need to see improvement in service and meal presentation to coax us back

We have been here regularly in the past as the food was first rate but recently it has gone downhill and I’m not sure we will hurry back in future. The menu doesn’t change and is very limited so the specials menu was important for regular visitors . It has now disappeared which is hugely disappointing. On the last two visits my fish was overcooked and almost inedible. The waiting staff has also changed and the service has suffered - a long wait to be served, nobody caring whether the food was ok or whether you needed anything else. What a pity! Even our friends suggested going elsewhere next time…..

We were recommended to try The Fountain by a local aquaintance - we were so pleased we took their advice. The welcome was friendly but not overpowering. The service was equally good. The food was delicious and well presented. My wife had the mushroom open sandwich while I had the "small" fish platter, I would happily have the same again And to cap it all it was sensiby priced The only downside is that we do not live close by so may not get the cahnce to repeat the enjoyment

Following my review last November, enjoyed an excellent lunch with friends yesterday. Nice to see a very busy restaurant on a Monday lunchtime. Portions good and the treacle tart with clotted cream delicious. Ramps and disabled toilet made it very easy for me in my wheelchair. As I said before, we will return. Thank you Fountain.

Food & service was okay but no atmosphere. A quiet Mon night admittedly but no music, decor, unlit candles, no flowers or pictures on the walls. This place could be so much more. Put on a table next to table if 4 & privy to their conversation & them to ours when there were several tables free. A shame as food was reasonable.

We hadn't been to the Fountain for a few months and the weather allowed us to sit outside. Very friendly staff and the new manager was friendly and efficient. The menu had changed for the better and we all agreed the food was superb. I had the ham, egg and chips which had two eggs, large gammon steaks and lovely dry chips. The small dessert and coffee is very good value. We will be back very soon.

There for a late lunch so can't give it five stars for atmosphere, but the food and service were great.

We had a very large brunch table this morning. The staff were super accommodating, especially with 26 of us. The food was delicious, the waitresses were lovely and the pub itself was super welcoming.

We hired The Fountain privately for a work summer party event on a Saturday. The whole process from booking to delivering was extremely smooth. Pulkit was very relaxed and helpful, especially during the event. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very well looked after. The rest of the team were also very helpful on the day. The food was lovely, people are still talking about the chips and the halloumi fries. I've always loved the Fountain for the odd spot of lunch/dinner and it didn't disappoint yet again. Highly recommend.

Called in at random, Friday lunch time. Very impressed all round with Appearance, Choice and quality/value of food, efficient friendliness of staff etc. Shared a Sausages in Honey Mustard "Nibble" and a Fish Platter Starter, both very good. For Mains, my Fish and Chips was on the button and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Scampi. Both too full for Desert! Even our drinks were a reasonable price. Will definitely call in again when next in the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Seemed reasonably busy for an early Tuesday evening, but the sunshine helped. Two adults and two kids (6 and 8) ate and we all enjoyed our meal and service was acceptable. The portion size was good and the price seems average on today's standard. I especially thought the kid fish and chip meal deal was very good value.

Nice back garden, food is 10 out 10 would definitely recommend to friends and family. The staff all polite and kind. And to top it all the food is delicious..😋 👌

We booked a table for early evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We are an elderly couple and my husband is disabled. We were the only guests there on our arrival and we were seated at a corner table - perfect. After about 15 minutes a group of 4 younger louder guests arrived, they were seated at the next adjacent table. Another 10 minutes later another group of 4 young female guests arrived and were seated at the other adjacent table. The remainder of the restaurant remained empty throughout our stay. We ordered drinks - a beer for my husband and a soft drink for me initially as I was driving, though I intended to order a glass of wine later. We ordered mains and sides. The food was good though at no time did a member of staff check on us. I never did order the glass of wine. By the time we had eaten our meal though we had been contemplating desserts, being drowned out by the noise at the accompanying tables we left . I enjoyed my drinks and dessert at home! Happy Anniversary! On paying the bill I raised the issue about table allocation 3 tables all in one corner the waitress could offer no explanation! Though we live locally we hadn’t visited fir a while after once being regular customers. It certainly won’t be on our must return list!

Sunday lunch was okay. Found the menu a bit limited with usual pub fare fish & chips, burgers and Sunday roast. Potatoes a bit hard and lemon sole had one sprig of broccoli and dry side of rice. Had fab risotto last summer bit disappointed with flavours and portion sizes on this last visit.

Really nice pub with beautiful walks (it's on the Fynn Valley path) and great cycling. Excellent service and food. They do a great brunch menu too. Can't ask for more on a sunny day.

We have been several times for lunch in parties of between 3 and 10. Service and food are always great.

The restaurant was much quieter than we expected - on a Wednesday evening, by 9.15pm we were the only diners left. Maybe a sign of the times as that is not a reflection on the menu or service. I haven't eaten here for a number of years but the food was very nice with friendly and efficient service. Portion sizes did vary depending on the dish chosen but overall no complaints and an enjoyable evening out with friends.

We had fish and chips, and the superfood salad. Both were excellent. Staff friendly, atmosphere relaxed. Surprisingly not busy, but this is a Thursday. I’d suggest it’s worth booking. Fully recommended!

Visit for the first time in years. With my partner. Bread and whitebait to start, steak and the vegan burger for mains. Nothing could have been better! Great service (they were quite busy but nothing but apologies for food delay even though it was a very short time.) Food quality is great. Will be back again.

Fantastic Food and Service, full credit to the waitress too who had to deal with the most indecisive couple behind us who at one stage was being so picky I think they'd have asked for an Eggless Omlette.

Nice pub, but food is priced too high. For over £15 I would expect more than 8 chips even if they were cooked nice and ham should be ham not gammon.

The menus (breakfast/brunch and main) and food were excellent; for both choice and value. Everything we had was delicious. The service was very good and the atmosphere calm and relaxing. We will definitely return, the place is clearly in very capable hands.

Visited with a friend on a Friday lunch time. Everything was perfect (the omelette Arnold Bennet is so scrummy), the staff are lovely and there’s a relaxed atmosphere… I’m an infrequent but regular visitor to The Fountain and it never disappoints. Keep doing what you’re doing! 😃
