Had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Fountain in Tuddenham – definitely one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The setting is lovely, with a cosy, welcoming feel as soon as you walk in, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive throughout. I went for the roast, and it didn’t disappoint. The meat was beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and the roast potatoes were spot on – crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Plenty of fresh veg, a rich, tasty gravy, and a proper Yorkshire pudding too. It felt like real care had gone into every part of the meal. We finished with dessert (because how could you not?), and again – top notch. Everything was well presented but not fussy, just really good food done right. If you’re after a relaxed Sunday with great food in a lovely village setting, The Fountain is well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back.

My main complaint were the roast the yorshire puddings looked good but were severed practicly cold, the roast beef was sliced very thinley and there were 3 slices which would have made one decent slice. the veg and roast potatoes were again practicly cold. The gravy well I think one Iladel between the six of us was a bit mean to say the least. The bill around £320. 00 qiute a large bill for such a poor meal. You have one last chance to improve if not we will never come again.

We made a last minute reservation for breakfast on a Sunday (and it was Mother’s Day!). The food did not disappoint with good portions for its price, good service. We had two under 4 years, one in high chair, no kids menu on the breakfast menu but you can buy individual items so we just got them those. Don’t get caught out by their serving times so be sure to check, we were fine, but only cause I looked for it! We were told they needed the table back by 12noon which was fine as we were in for 10:15.

I really wanted to love it, particularly after the recent renovations & being a local independent. We are hoping this would become our new local. Two of us popped in on a sunny Saturday afternoon in March, & in fairness with no booking - about 2.30pm ish. Beer garden was half empty, restaurant looked to have a few groups eating but mostly empty tables. Asked at the bar for a “bar menu / light bites / chips”, told by a very friendly staff member that they had turned away walk-ins all day for hot food (which I hope is because they were busy prior to our arrival) but that luckily they thought they would now be able to help & would go ask the kitchen to confirm. We were hopeful! Came back quickly with an apologetic “no, we’re not serving hot food”. Bit pants that a portion of chips & a drink couldn’t be mustered up - particularly as when we were leaving we watched an outdoor table receive plates. We were offered drinks and “nuts & crisps”, which was kind but we wanted something a bit more substantial. Will try again perhaps in a few months time (and will call in advance), when we hope we’ll have a different experience.

Thought we would try somewhere different for a sunday roast after a recommendation but was a bit disappointed to say the least. To start with the table was sticky, the service was good if a bit over enthusiastic, we got asked what drinks we wanted twice, then when the meals arrived they were covered up by a ginormous yorkshire pudding which was very fatty, the veg was shredded to death, and a piece of boney chicken sat on top. There was one carrot, one parsnip plus three small roast potatoes. We asked for some cranberry sauce which they said they hadn't got but when we left noticed another table had some. We were also asked to the point of harassment if we wanted a sweet which we said no to (£6 for one scoop of ice cream) would you? Overpriced for what we got.

Called in & ok’d leaving car & having short walk before calling back to eat. Arrived at 11.20 hoping to have a light bite & drink to be told breakfast menu finished at 11.30 but kitchen had stopped it already. Lunch menu didn’t start til 12. I asked if they had any light bites rather than wait 40 minutes to be able to order, to be told they had crisps and nuts. They don’t do light lunches like we used to have, though one member of staff said they would go and check if there was a sandwich menu. We sat down, but nobody came back, they all just flitted about & we were ignored. So we left. This was the 2nd time there since it was taken over & we have had service from staff who are not organised & don’t appear to really care. A few months ago I was served a truly awful meal with the same disorganised routine. The previous menu catered for lighter bites, which were always presented lovely. Not everyone wants a full meal or breakfast, they want a light lunch with friends. My previous go to is now a definite never ever go back to.

The owners here have done a fantastic job, bedding in and getting a feel for the place for a couple of years before closing for the first weeks of 2025 to fully refurbish. They've reinstated a proper bar to make it work more as a village pub (it was something of a 'family food pub' for many years prior) and really improved the character of the place while also investing heavily in revamping the menu. There's still an emphasis on food and it's delicious: great ingredients prepared with attention and a head for flavour. I think they must've had a really good designer/project manager behind this relaunch, it's excellent.

Terrible! This place used to have such nice food but is not anymore. £14 pounds pere person for a full English breakfast and bacon is not edible! It was burnt. Toast isn't even proper toast it's like sourdough. The butter was frozen couldn't even spread it. You get one of everything with what is included in the full English with some food items not edible for 14 pounds. There was 3 of us I got a coffee and the others got 1 pint each of orange juice and lemonade and we all got a full English. The total price was £51 pounds! Won't be coming back

***UPDATE*** Thought we'd try the Fountain again given change of ownership and seeing all their updates on Facebook. We sat in the bar area which is what we requested because we were going to take our dogs, but didn't in the end. Service was slow....yes, they were busy, but servers were all over the place. Now I understand that the younger generation need jobs, but in the 'hospitality' business, they need to be trained properly! We sat for a good 15 minutes waiting for a drinks order to be taken, but ended up going to the bar to order. Eventually a young lad took our food order but lacked personality....something you'd expect at a fast food outlet. Food to be fair arrived promptly, and was hot and delicious. Over halfway through our meals a young lady decided to ask if we were happy with our food (better late than never) but then asked if we wanted any sauces?🤔 2 pots of horseradish and a pot of mustard clearly visible on the table! We finished our food and were asked if we wanted desserts....we were all full and politely declined. Then, that was it.....4 empty glasses on the table, multiple waiting staff passing our table, but not one asked if we wanted another drink or teas/coffees. My biggest complaint I'm afraid is the door which goes outside to the patio. It got very busy out there, and I appreciate waiting staff have to go in and out, but the times i had to get up from my meal to close that door was beyond a joke! The waiting staff must be educated on closing that thing. It either needs a spring close on it, or The Fountain management need to put a very clear sign on BOTH sides of that door saying SHUT THE DOOR!! not only for the staff, but for customers alike! Our meals got cold very quickly because of this issue and its not funny when you're paying £20+ for a plate of food. I'm sorry, but still not a patch on the good ol days with Charles and Scott who ran a very organised establishment. Still work to be done I'm afraid Tuddenham Fountain. The door is a major problem, especially this time of year, and if you insist on such a very young team of waiting staff, train them properly in observing the tables they are serving, and do it with friendly enthusiasm. You want us, the customers to spend our money, we want to go home feeling we received value for our money! So very disappointed yet again. I think we'll stick to The Newbourne Fox.....never disappointed there. We have frequented the Fountain for the best part of 20 years. For us, it has always been that little 'extra special ' place to eat at on special occasions, Or, when we wanted a treat. The service, the food and the ambiance has always been, for us, gone that extra mile to make you feel you had a special evening out. Yes, you have to pay a little extra for that, but we didn't mind, because you felt you had a lovely meal and enjoyed the whole experience. However, I'm saddened to say that of late, the Fountain has lost its sparkle!! The waiting staff always used to be dressed smartly (now just faded dirty jeans and t-shirts....something you would expect at a Greene King pub!!) The service on our most recent visit was not what we've experienced before. Our table was sticky from the previous occupants and hadn't been wiped. The table hadn't been set, so the waitress just leaned over the table with cutlery and napkins for us to set it ourselves. I sat with an empty glass for 20 minutes without any waiting staff noticing, so had to order it at the bar myself and take it to my table. The food was tasty, but nowhere near the standard it used to be and nobody came to ask.if everything was ok with our food. I'm afraid the Fountain has, for us, lost its 'finesse'. So disappointing when it's been at the heart of numerous happy family get togethers in years gone by. Please keep up the reputation of the original Tuddenham Fountain, Charles & Scott worked hard for many years to get the Fountain where it is today.....don't expect your customers to pay the same prices if you're not prepared to uphold the standards!! Very disappointed 😔

Visited for lunch. It was a cold day and the dining area was freezing. We are not young and at one stage we considered sitting in our coats. Only two small radiators in large room. The food was ok but not exceptional. One of us had gonococci and it was bland and could have done with some green decoration (parsley) or similar The custard with the crumble was so thin it poured off the crumble onto the plate beneath. A shame because the apricot crumble was delicious. To sum up - a disappointing outing for a reasonably expensive meal.

A lovely pub with a warm welcome, smiling staff, decent food and enough honesty and integrity to swiftly resolve any issues if they arrive. SO DISAPPOINTED. We have been coming here every year on our wedding anniversary for 19 years, 18 of those years the experience has been amazing, the place was that extra something special, but I'm sad to say number 19 was terrible. We have always treated ourselves to the steak, so this time was no different, on the menu it has M/P in the price column next to the steak, apparently this means Market Price, which was fine as we have never had an issue before. Well, the chips were fantastic, but the steak was full of gristle, I nearly choked as I tried to swallow it, a bit of gristle i missed got stuck. I did cut most of it off and left a pile of it on my plate, my husband done the same, the dish also came with the smallest jug of what I can only assume was peppercorn sauce (we didnt order this) We had the brownie for dessert, one side of my brownie was like warm and the other side was cold, normally it's hot enough to melt the ice cream but unfortunately the ice cream stayed where it was, (ice cream did taste nice, but I love that hot brownie and melting ice cream combo, not today!!) The service was ok and the staff where friendly. After my husband paid the bill we went to our car and I asked how much it was £101..well you could of knocked me out! I looked at the bill thinking it was someone else's, but on checking, nope it was definitely ours, we had been charged £35 each for the steaks, (to be fair the ones in Aldi are nicer. Maybe the chef should buy them from there, none of this Market Price payment!) On closer inspection we had been charged £4 for a starter (of which we didnt have) so I went back and asked what it was for, my husband just put his head in his hands and said 'it's only £4 but For me it's the principle and i was still in shock at the £101 total!!! The waitress I spoke to said it was for the peppercorn sauce, I said that we didnt order any peppercorn sauce as I dont like it. Yes the smallest jug (the size of something off the set of the borrower's, google it if your not sure!!) Was on our plates but we had not asked for it, I explained that the waitress just asked how we would like our steak cooked. There was no offer of a refund or an apology, and as I was talking to her she was walking about carrying on with what she was doing. Needless to say I was fuming, I wasnt going to take the refund, I just wanted to see if it was going to be offered. The waitress was clearly to busy to stop and talk and the conversation was finished, (how much running around can you do with only 4 people in the pub) We are totally gutted that this experience has happened, we really wanted to come back every year and celebrate, but our 20th year will be somewhere else, we have been told the Deben Seal is nice. Recommendation..bring back the chef from last August! Buy steaks from Aldi. Parking is good Wheelchair accessible Lovely garden

My partner and I have ate/drank here on occasion for the last 3 years, but it has gone downhill in recent times. Our last meal, the service was not great. Staff seemed disinterested and unsure what they were doing. We asked for more mayo and got asked if there was not any in the pot...yes theres 1, we need more. It seemed like they were rationing sauces. The food was also fairly poor, my partners chicken burger had a really soggy bun, so we had to ask for a new bun. The burger didn't taste great anyway. I ordered a medium rare steak, which came out well done on one side and rare on the other, just really poor especially paying £35 for it, the chef must not be that fussed about the food because it was a careless way to cook a ribeye. This pub is in a great location especially for dog walkers and a nice beer garden for the summer. With better quality food and service we may return again but as of right now we wouldn't go back.

The wait was worth it for the food , just remember if ordering kids menu to request the drink and dessert that comes with it. The fish and chips were wow. Had a lovely meal recently, hadn’t been before so wanted to try somewhere different . It also has a lovely outdoor area which is great in the summer. We had fish and chips and liver and bacon. Both very nice. Was just la shame the special of lamb shank had run out - sounded lovely. The service provided by Sarah and the team was super too.

We have really enjoyed having your afternoon teas however went to book another today and the young lady has informed us that you can't book for lunchtime anymore, asked for 12pm which usually do. Owe were informed only after 2.30pm which is disappointing. as many mums who enjoy an afternoon tea lunch together need to be back for the school runs. Sad that you can't be more flexible as you have done previously when booked well in advance.

Great country pub and garden. They are very dog friendly and even have a nice area indoors where you can sit with your dog and have a meal. The Sunday roast is top notch, good portions, well cooked, and great value. The staff are friendly and the young waiting staff are super efficient. There's a lovely garden with a heated covered area where once a month they have live music. Oh, and a huge car park.

Little on offer for lunch compared to what there used to be, such as fish finger baps etc. Opted for a halloumi, mushroom & spinach bap. A very dry bap appeared with mushrooms, tad of spinach & some GRATED halloumi instead of a grilled portion usually served. Halloumi is supposed to be a meat alternative for vegetarians & is never meant to be grated like a hard cheese. It should be well cooked and slightly charred. What sort of chef grates a cheese that is specifically meant for cooking. It was awful. I mentioned this to staff but no apology or compensation was offered. I should have refused it but stupidly didn’t. My friend wasn’t impressed by her lunch either. The appearance of the kitchen staff was not encouraging to return, as well the lack of service. Food used to be well presented and tasty, but it all seems to have changed. I used to regularly meet friends here, but I will not be returning. Another pub on the decline, as shown by the many empty tables on a Friday lunchtime.

Nasty burnt taste. I think it was the gravy. Query raised, but no action was taken by staff. I think on a good day it might be good, but unfortunately it was not so good upon my visit. Would I recommend it it? Well, put it this way, I'd probably give it a second chance.......maybe.

Popped in for coffee after a beautiful morning run. Due to the blue skies on a cold, winter morning the pub was getting quite busy in the early part of the day. Even though we all arrived in different groups at different times ordering half dozen different coffees each time, the staff did an amazing job to satisfy our requests, especially Laurel who was a pleasure to have serving us. A very welcoming pub in a beautiful area of Suffolk.

I took my wife here for her birthday as they do calves liver, her favourite dish. Unlike a lot of places we have previously visited the calves liver was cooked perfectly, as was my steak. The desserts were really good too and, although the service was a little slow, the staff were friendly and the overall experience was first class.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends today. The staff were so attentive and despite it being very busy we felt well looked after. The roasts were generous and delicious. A few of us had the coffee and pudding option for desert, which was a coffee and a taster version of the pudding, which was perfect for us and equally as delicious as the main. A special mention to the Manager. She was very helpful and efficient. She was very engaging with the children in our party, making them laugh as she took our orders or served our food. The atmosphere was cosy and festive. All the staff were helpful. A great experience from start to finish. We’ll be going again!

The Manager was very accommodating and the waitress charming. It would improve if, instead of stacking everything on the plate, the customer chose the vegetables instead as it weakens the offering. Otherwise, very pleasant experience.

We have been going here for many years and have never been disappointed. However recently we have seen a deterioration in the overall quality of service, presentation and food choice and lack of interest in whether we were happy with our meals and needed anything else. It’s so sad as we used to so enjoy taking friends and family but question whether we will be returning😢 Need to see improvement in service and meal presentation to coax us back

We have been here regularly in the past as the food was first rate but recently it has gone downhill and I’m not sure we will hurry back in future. The menu doesn’t change and is very limited so the specials menu was important for regular visitors . It has now disappeared which is hugely disappointing. On the last two visits my fish was overcooked and almost inedible. The waiting staff has also changed and the service has suffered - a long wait to be served, nobody caring whether the food was ok or whether you needed anything else. What a pity! Even our friends suggested going elsewhere next time…..

Amazing experience! I came to visit a friend in Woodbridge and was really pleased. Well priced, friendly service and SO quick. We ordered the avocado and halloumi nap and the loaded hash browns were to die for. Lovely coffee too No pics as was too good to wait!
