Anniversary treat, night away. Started in the spa for the afternoon, nice treatments, jacuzzi and sauna. Chill out room big log burner and a mulled wine. Checked in hotel to find out we've been upgraded, very nice room in the courtyard. Evening meal in the restaurant was superb one of the best if not the best meal of 2024. Only small criticism, add more Christmas decorations make it more seasonal. Would definitely stay again..

Rebecca and Alice were unbelievably professional and welcoming from the moment we met. Alice gave us an excellent tour of the entire hotel and spa, as well as a good look at the grounds, answering any questions we had. From that moment we knew we were in safe hands for our special day. From then we went on to have many emails back and forth as well as a few more meetings, each time our vision became fuller, and both Alice and Rebecca knew exactly which direction we wanted to go with our theme. Many meetings and conversations were had with Rebecca over the 12 months before our big day, Rebecca was always responsive and explained everything in full, putting all our worries and concerns at ease and helping us to feel excited rather than stressed when it came to planning all the details. We honestly could not have asked for a better team to host our wedding day, Rebecca was an absolute star on the day, organising absolutely everything and everyone behind the scenes, keeping me calm and confident, ensuring every part of the day went smoothly, honestly I’m not sure I could have done it all without her! Rebecca helped me carry my dress on my way to the ceremony, filmed the service, and decorated the room perfectly, taking on our “Secret Garden” vision with confidence and really understanding the task at hand, working closely with my family to ensure the perfect layout and look. Rebecca really made the day so smooth and enjoyable for us, she is a huge credit to Milsoms and an excellent wedding planner. The chefs and staff at Milsoms are absolutely amazing, the food is excellent, top quality ingredients, fresh, exciting, and delicious. The meal myself and my maid of honour enjoyed together in the restaurant the night before the big day was out of this world, I enjoyed a chicken dish with jewelled lentils and a delicious sauce, and my MOH enjoyed a beautiful seasonal lamb dish, followed by a lovely apple and fudge panacotta. The morning of the wedding I felt like royalty, making my way to the restaurant at 7am, being greeted by bright eyed and cheery staff, and an immaculate chef in the kitchen waiting to make excellent breakfasts to order. The selection was excellent and the eggs Benedict was exquisite. Due to nerves I couldn’t eat much and the staff were so attentive, noticing I was the bride and offered me whatever I needed, I was so thankful as felt all I could handle was a hot chocolate, this was made and brought to me immediately, and really hit the spot, dark chocolate flavours, rich and creamy, it set me up for the rest of the day. Later on during the drinks reception our guests enjoyed canapés of beef and horseradish puddings, lamb poloise, and smoked salmon, all were delicious and went down very well in the beautiful spring sunshine with a glass of Prosecco. The wedding breakfast was absolutely stunning, I felt so proud to be able to offer such a beautiful meal to our guests. Sitting next to my new husband, we tucked into your favourite meal, steak and peppercorn sauce, and honestly it was the best steak I have ever tasted. The desserts were amazing, with my Husband and I enjoying a dark chocolate delice with rose ice cream. Everyone commented on the excellent quality of the meal and looked so happy, it really was so special, the staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The next day my Husband and I awoke in the beautiful “Best Room” feeling like royalty, as we chose breakfast in bed from the menu. My husband required some milk for his tea and the hotel staff brought fresh milk to the room immediately, shortly followed by our cooked to order breakfast, beautiful butcher quality sausages and bacon, golden yolk eggs and doorstop toast with butter, just what we needed! We couldn’t thank the Milsoms team enough for making our special day so amazing.

Last review I left wasn’t great , I visited today for lunch begrudgingly, I was nicely surprised! The service was much better , smiling and helpful bar and waiting staff , menu was still a bit over complicated for absolutely no reason , way too many fish dishes on offer , would be nice to see some nice meats other than the overpriced steaks , but I chose the tomato’s on sourdough to start which was excellent and the pan fried chicken for main , which was really nice too! My friend had the same starter and then the king prawn curry , which was huge portion and very tasty ( I tried some 😀) We had the house red wine which was very nice and it was a reasonable price The best part was the improvement to the service Last time I visited no one looked like they wanted to work there , huge improvements today 😊

We recently had a 2 night stay. The accommodation was to a high standard and very comfortable. The Spa was a very relaxing experience with attentive staff, accute attention to detail, and immaculately maintained. The restaurant was modern looking and lacked a little in atmosphere. The food however was outstanding! Our evening meal was really first class, both in taste and presentation. The breakfast had a buffet element on top of the usual egg based options, but I have to say, the buffet was exceptional! There were no large trays under baking hot lamps. Instead, small quantities of each selection were replenished frequently and on demand, meaning everything that should be crisp, was crisp, and nothing was soggy. Really impressed. The front of house staff and the behind the scenes hero's were all attentive and combined to make our stay a very pleasant one. I am more than happy to recommend a stay at Kesgrave Hall

Lovely food and great service. My only grouse is that as you can see into the kitchen you can see the pot washer in a hooded sweatshirt. This is not a uniform and considering he is in the kitchen and leaning over cookers to replace pans I see it as a health issue. Surely he could have a black t-shirt that is specifically for work.

The restaurant was not full there were plenty of spare tables inside and out, couldn’t eat outside due to dogs and smoking so sat inside. We were given a table near the kitchen which was rather loud. Take a while to get the starters once ordered as for mains it was nearly an hour later we got these no one told us if there was a delay in food we had two children who were getting rather ratty we also ordered water with ice the first order did not get delivered so we asked again the water got delivered the ice did not. The food was ok, their were staff standing around by the kitchen who looked to be having a disagreement, other tables were waiting to get the bill and when we paid we did not tip due to the time it took to get the food and what felt like an effort to get service. Really disappointed we won’t rush back which is a shame.

What has happened to Kesgrave Hall.? Used to be one of our favourite haunts. First, the decor. All the atmosphere has been stripped out and the restaurant now looks like a branch of IKEA - all pale grey with flimsy chairs and tables. Then the food. - I ordered Chicken Kiev which came without the garlic butter! At least they offered me a free dessert in compensation. My friend ordered “market fish” which came without any vegetables. When she asked for potatoes a big bowl of plain boiled potatoes arrived - far more than she could eat, and charged at an extra £4.25. On top of over £20 for a bit of fish this seemed like a bad joke. Shall not be returning .

The afternoon tea was delightful. We didn’t manage to eat everything so we had the cakes boxed up. Well, I’ve tried macaroons and never liked them, but these ones were absolutely amazing! Top marks for a wonderful experience. The table close to us were a bit rowdy, which was absolutely fine, they were excited, celebrating something nice hopefully, but one woman clearly couldn’t handle her drink, she proceeded to sit on the floor by the tables to smoke her cigarette! No etiquette and to smoke when people are eating was a disgrace.

This venue is stunning and local for me. Its lovely and relaxed atmosphere. Nice i can take my dogs along. However i am disappointed in the service. Ive been many times and i dont go at busy times. Whenever i would like another drink or even to order i always have to catch someone walking past or take my order to a member of staff. Its very over priced for this level of service. The staff are very polite and smart but not attentive. Today someone joined our table and no one approached us to see if she'd like anything. I felt i should write a review as this is the case everytime i come and although i dont want someone offering me something every 10 minutes i would like to feel im being taken care of just a check back or offer more drinks would be useful. Arrived for lunch with my sisters at 2.00pm when the restaurant was not particularly busy. We ordered drinks and had to remind staff when they failed to arrive after 15 mins. Placed food order and starters arrived after an acceptable wait but then we waited 75 mins for our main courses, having had to ask a waitress where they were. Two mains arrived with an apology but were told that the third was not yet ready!! When it did eventually arrive, we asked for mayonnaise and ketchup, these failed to materialise so we asked a different waitress who then brought them. We’d almost finished our mains when the original waitress turned up with the sauces! She was most surprised that we’d already got some - did she expect us to wait for 20 minutes until she could be bothered to bring some? She did say that we would not be charged for our wine as we’d had to wait for our food. Next we asked her for some more water - her response was to lean across my plate to get the empty bottle - how rude!!! I think the problem is that the waiting staff are all very young and have not been trained in basic customer service. Consequently, we did not leave a tip. We had a pleasant afternoon, simply as we were enjoying each others company, good weather and pleasant surroundings.

Had a reason to celebrate so visited Milsoms as it has a reputation for being a nice restaurant in the local area. Being a special occasion I ordered venison as I like to have something I’d probably not cook at home. I ordered chips as a side as I was hungry. The venison arrived with a whole caramelised onion, this was £27. The chips were £4.90. The venison was nice but the overall price really soured my mouth. The service was very average and trying to get attention of the young staff was very hard. It was a very quiet day too. Not happy, over priced and sadly I’m hearing many similar reviews. Visited here last night just for drinks (Sunday evening of the bank holiday weekend) unexpectedly at around 6pm as was driving passed with my wife, 9 year old daughter and my mother-in-law! Haven't been since before lockdown as previous experiences haven't been great with slow service and miserable looking staff along with items being added to our tab that we hadn't ordered or consumed which apparently happened quite a lot having spoken to others about this on many occasions. It was quiet at the bar so served quickly although again all four members of staff standing behind the bar looked miserable and although I made eye contact with at least three of them, there was still no look of enthusiasm or happiness about them! It was a lovely night so we sat outside on the white chairs out in the open which are the first lot you get to from the car park. We have sat inside before but it's gets ridiculously hot due to the kitchen being part of the restaurant! My wife and daughter ordered a second round of drinks and a doughnut offering from the dessert menu for my daughter to be told that the doughnuts could only be consumed in the dining area either inside or under the marquee although there were no tables available under the marquee area as either full or reserved. A little disgruntled at this point although the member of staff did address this with the manager who very quickly confirmed rules are rules so unless we sat in the dining area we couldn't have the doughnuts! Whilst drinking our drinks a group on another of the white tables takes delivery of chips with their drinks (where food is not allowed to be consumed) and when challenging the waiter we are told that bar snacks are OK to be eaten there which at no point was explained to us when trying to order the doughnuts. The waiter agreed that it didn't make any sense and said he would report it back to his manager but that was the last we heard of the matter! I get that the desserts may be served on a nice plate but why not offer them in a bowl or make us aware of a snack menu or offer to get us a table when one becomes free? MY daughter is only 9! She isn't worried about presentation. For the prices this place charges and also having read a lot of the other reviews you would think they might up their game a little but it seems to me that the staff are always right and the customer isn't important here. When deciding where to go for dining out or drinks which we do a lot, this place is never on the radar for us anymore but decided to give it a go as we were passing and we wish we hadn't bothered.

Maybe a secret shopper should be used. I don't feel you can live on the company base alone. Sad but true 😒😒 Other spa companies offer better experiences at competitive prices.

Came here with my partner for our anniversary, the setting was beautiful but unfortunately the service was really poor. When we finished our main our empty plates sat in front of us for over 25 minutes, we wanted to order dessert but got fed up of waiting so we got up and left. There was so many waiting staff hovering around the bar area (which we were right next to) but no one seemed to want to come over to our table, baring in mind the table next to us (4 people) were seen to constantly and at one point had two waiters dealing with their table at on one time. We felt as if we were unimportant.

The location & grounds are beautiful & I can see why it is used as a wedding venue but it was not clearly signed as to where the entrance was. The staff were polite & all well presented but very busy so it was difficult to catch one to take our order. We had the champagne afternoon tea at £33pp & I must say I was expecting better. The scones were fresh & warm albeit stingy on the clotted cream. The sandwiches were tasty but had barely any filling & were clearly not made to order as the bread was beginning to go dry on the outside. The desserts plate was lacklustre. Having had many an afternoon tea as a treat over the years I was expecting bone china & a nice tea lounge with tablecloths in an estate as impressive looking as this but was disappointed to discover that the dining area was more like a busy pub restaurant with plain wooden tables, basic breakfast tea pots / cups & very loud as they were serving every menu option in the same room. (The smell of fish & chips wafting around during an afternoon tea was unexpected!) None of the staff were wearing masks, social distancing was non-existent & there was no sign of hand sanitiser anywhere. Whilst I can appreciate that government COVID restrictions have been lifted, this did make me feel a little uneasy.

Kesgrave hall was by far our favourite place to eat and drink pre ( well you know ) and after our family meal last night it still is. The atmosphere was incredible, people being people just enjoying themselves eating, drinking and laughing over conversations. The noise from the kitchen adding to the whole ambience and all staff being fantastic with regards service. The food is beautiful with plenty of choices for everyone even if you have a fussy eater for which we had one. Go on treat yourselves, you won't be disappointed Great to be back, thanks Milsoms

Revisited Milsoms a month later and again all was very good. This time their take on Fish & Chips. A good portion of crispy and succulent fish and beautiful chunky chips. All piping hot and beautifully presented with crushed peas and (also chunky) tartar sauce in individual pots. The Rueben Crumpet with Sauerkraut, salt beef & cheese equally good and innovative. A friendly reception and good service. No bookings necessary and ample parking.

4 of us had a meal at Milsoms a few weeks ago, I was very disappointed with my meal, one very small piece of hake, with about ten sultanas, and one floret of roasted cauliflower, and a smidgen of curry swiped across the plate. If I had not had my portion of chips with it, I would have left the premises still hungry. The venue is lovely, and the food is tasty, but there is not enough of it !£18-50 is a very expensive snack !

I’ve always rated Kesgrave Hall for a good and reliable meal. Regrettably I heard some bad things on the venue over the pandemic, issues with basic things like a round of drinks, lacking customer service…. I opted to wait until full restrictions allowed a proper meal without the drama so some friends and I had a meal on Saturday afternoon outside under the canopy. Whatever happened during the pandemic has been resolved and we faced no issues with anything; good service and great food. I can recommend the prosciutto salad starter and the fillets of plaice fish main is a show stopper. Light fillets of plaice in a mussel and prawn veloute served with sea herbs mashed potatoes. Mouth watering! The good old reliable Milsoms is back!

Food was very good and very well priced. Service for our main was a bit slow but was very busy. Great experience overall except watching 2 waiters stand in front of a social distance sign and hand sanitizer machine practicing their hand shakes then going off to serve other people without using said machine. But staff who served us were very good and helpful.

The first impression was definitely poor... we ordered the organic breads and oils and the dipping dish which was brought separately was filthy.Interesting menu and two of us odered the lamb. It came and was tasty if not very hot.. asked for more sauce which came quickly, poured it, it was stone cold. Dish ruined. The children's burger was burned. Not impressive. Nice staff though.

Great food, especially the fresh fish. Perhaps slightly overpriced. Fantastic view and place to eat - outside seating slightly crowded. Service good be better, for the price paid I’d hope for my order to be taken by a server rather than doing it myself.

And my wife tried to get attention, didn’t get another coffee.I had a afternoon tea gift, but the price had gone up by £1 per person and we were charged .

We had a wonderful lunch for our wedding anniversary at Kesgrave Hall. The menu had a good deal of choice and specials, including a Vegan menu with multiple options. We both had an exceptional meal. I have been vegan for over 30 years and my warm carrot salad starter was one of the best dishes I have had. Truly exceptional food. The staff were warm and quietly attentive and made our day special. Can highly recommend for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike.

Only went for supper so can’t comment on the hotel or spa, but having previously eaten there before Milsoms acquired it we were rather disappointed. Food was incredibly rich (which maybe some people go for), but not particularly flavoursome. The sauce with my tortellini was far too garlicky - even as a garlic lover - and my wife’s vegan pasta was served with warmed red salad leaves which are bitter at the best of times, really don’t work heated though. Her aubergine starter was overpowered by vinegar as almost everything on the plate was pickled. Staff didn’t seem to know the drinks menu at all and bizarrely we were told we needed to wait 45 minutes for a table but by the time we were seated it was half empty in there - perhaps a ploy to force people to pay for drinks and nibbles beforehand I wonder? The only redeeming factors were the chips and a lovely, inexpensive Italian red - not a great sign for a bill of £115 for 2 courses… Nice spot for a drink or cocktail, would probably go elsewhere for food afterwards though.

We Love walberswick Lovely pub Lovely staff Excellent breakfast Lovely rooms No GF lagers We Stayed for my hubby 65 birthday for 3 nights ..we had a great time . I am coeliac and the evening menu was a little limited .. but the pub always do their best to adapt but to offer cheese and crackers with no GF crackers is a little silly I think .. Also I have asked and cannot be the first to ask for GF lager to be available and still there is no lager for coeliacs . Why serve GF foods if you cannot have a GF lager ?.. it’s understandable it’s not available through Adam’s but surely it can be purchased elsewhere ?? It easily available ? There is nothing more frustrating to find the most beautiful pub and area and the manager cannot offer such a simple drink for their customers . I do not like GF ales so please have a GF lager on offer so I can soon return !!! There must be other customers with health issues asking the same questions?? Hope to see you all again soon Dawn
