Food was excellent and we particularly liked the possibility of having adult small portions for some meals. Wide menu and plenty of choice of drinks. Bar staff helpful and friendly and generally a good atmosphere. In fact we liked it so much that we called in again for lunch on our way home at the end of our holiday f

After far too long we returned to the White Horse, it is as good as always, very clean and well maintained, the rooms are well looked after with obvious pride, the staff are brilliant, food amazing with an extensive selection to choose from, also many different beers and lagers available which going by the tastes are kept in a well kept cellar. Highly recommend.

This is our go to place to relax, enjoy good food and wine and a gin and tonic or 2! This was our mid summer view and we enjoyed the Friday BBQ on the lovely garden terrace. Room 6 is suitable for wheelchair users with a wet room grab bar and shower stool. The staff are wonderful and nothing too much trouble for them. Neil and Gill are fantastic hosts. Rooms spotless. Great breakfast and dinner to order. What more can I say.

All a bit strange! Barman ( owner) Served a gin and tonic in a small scotch glass with the wrong tonic, funny looks when I asked to taste the real ale, I have no problem with dogs but not where I’m eating, waited for over half an hour for our food, even when we had arrived half an hour early. My wife had sea bass, I had pork belly it was quite good and hot, but you would have thought the pork belly would have had crackling after waiting so long! We did hear someone complaining about how long it took to cook a breast of chicken, good job I didn’t have the 8 hour cooked lamb shoulder! We paid the bill (very cold reception) didn’t ask if we enjoyed our meal and then left. I Would normally had complained but I think the look we got it just wasn’t worth it. Oh, and we won’t be going back!!

Found this little gem by chance. My partner and I eat out regularly. Quite honestly the best meal we have ever had. Exquisite food and outstanding friendly service. As we waited for our meal (which the proprietor explained would be a wait as the food is all freshly cooked) we had a beautiful view of the kitchen garden. The chef could be seen picking all the fresh produce we were to be eating. From field to fork amazing. Had a lovely chat with the owner who is obviously passionate about what he does. Will definitely be returning.

We booked two nights half board and received a warm welcome. Our room was in a seperate building from the inn and was a modest, modern room with all the mod cons. Dinner was excellent, plenty of choices, served piping hot and just the right portion size. We decided to walk round the village, but it does't exist! Apart from the inn and about 6 houses, there is nothing, no shop, post office or school. Breakfast was excellent and after, we set off on a trip to Diss. Our satnav said 90 minutes, but after an hour we were still 60 minutes away as we followed tiny winding lanes, reversing up for tractors and most of the time nearly back to where we started. Another great dinner then off to find petrol. The first garage was 30 minutes away so make sure you watch your petrol guage. Another great breakfast and you cannot fault the service, the staff and quality of food. Well worth a couple of days stay, but would be a bit boring for a week, unless you just want to switch off and do nothing. Two words of warning. At about 8.20 one evening, a party of 6 arrived looking for dinner, but were told the kitchen had closed and the chef gone home. No late nights for this inn! As the inn door is often open we did have constant annoyance as a few flies buzzed around all evening and again at breakfast. They need to get a zapper machine. Otherwise, perfect.

Our favourite place to eat out or go for Sunday lunch in Suffolk by a country mile. We’re real foodies who also like to cook at home, and this is the only place that hits every note every time, we always come away with a satisfied smile. The service is impeccable, relaxed and welcoming with a lovely old pub feel but food that so surpasses pub grub. And a brilliant selection of wine too. Thanks so much Neil and Gill!

Eaten here twice this week . Both meals were superb . I so enjoyed the blade of beef on Monday evening followed by a most substantial cheeseboard . The meal tonight was an absolute gastronomic delight ! My confit of duck was just delicious and the lemon dessert of lemon custard , meringues & lemon curd ice cream was divine ! Service is excellent with such friendly staff . Tonight’s experience surpassed every meal eaten at different restaurants over the past week . I can’t wait to come again when I return in June . Very many thanks .

We ate here on 2 evenings in early September. The menu was quite large and varied and the quality of the food was excellent, using locally sourced ingredients and home grown vegetables and there was a good wine list too. There’s a large flower bedecked terrace at the rear of the pub in which to dine alfresco and there are very good Covid safety measures in place. We’ll be dining there again and recommend you do too!

Fantastic food in a very friendly atmosphere. Six of us all enjoyed a variety of dishes from three courses. They were all significantly better than most pub food.I will inly comment on my dishes. To start I had Crispy chilli beef with Asian salad. I honestly could have happily had a larger plate of this as a main dish. Very well presented and cooked. Delicious.I followed this with blade of beef which was wekl cooked and accompanied by some interesting vegetables. Finally a cheese board with excellent cheeses. I have a personal dislike of cheese with fruit added and so it was a pleasure to find none if that nonsense on the board. All in all highly recommended.

On arrival, after we were seated, the manager came over and said, in a hostile manner “Are your children over seven?’ We replied that they were (a tall aged seven and age ten). The manager frowned in an unwelcoming manner and walked off. He did not smile or greet us in any way. I’ve never had such a rude welcome. We were made to feel so unwelcome that we felt we had to leave straight away. This meant that we had no where to go for supper. It was such a disappointing start to our holiday. There was a large sign at the door saying NO CHILDREN AGED UNDER SEVEN ALLOWED. I don’t think the owners are comfortable with children of any age. Thankfully some locals approached us as we left and apologised. They said that the pub has a reputation for being rude. They directed us to The Royal Oak in Laxfield where we had a super meal and the staff were great. This nearby pub is also in the good pub guide.

We normally have self-catering holidays but this time we wanted a short break where we would be looked after and the Sibton White Horse Inn was perfect. We stayed in the King Ensuite on the first floor and this was a very comfortable and well appointed room. All the food was very good but the evening meals were really something very special and the ambience of the inn was lovely. It is situated in a quiet country location but we found it very quick and easy to reach the local coastal attractions. In addition the very friendly service provided by Neil and Gill and all their staff was excellent.

My husband had cured sea trout starter which he was very impressed with and a beautiful blade of beef main. I had the tomato soup starter and an amazing fresh sea bass main. We stayed for two nights in the pubs rooms which are situated in an annex to the main building. Accommodation was really good. Freshly decorated room that was very comfortable. The staff were really attentive and the service was very smoothly done. The owners were very friendly towards us too. We were booked in for the evening meal the nights we were there. The first evening we looked at the menu and instead of the usual pub food we were surprised to see such a different choice available. Each dish we ordered was so full of flavour and the portions were just right enabling us to have all 3 courses! The food was sublime. The pub does have quite a few AA Food awards but believe me if someone from the Michelin guide goes in I’m sure they may award it a star! So good we have booked to go back in 5 weeks. Sunday lunch - we had beef and it was superb. Good menu for lunch, great service and excellent food. Would thoroughly recommend this little, hidden pub. We have had evening meals here before and just as delicious - beautifully cooked. Only suggestion is that there is no ambient music so it can seem a bit quiet and you feel like everyone in pub can hear your conversation. We just talked quietly and it certainly would not deter a revisit.

Terrific place. A 16th Century building, decorated well with plenty of character remaining - timbers, exposed brickwork, fireplaces, nooks and crannies etc - all tastefully done. Large parking area, garden and space all around. A handful of rooms available for overnighters which will temp us in future. We arrived for lunch on an important anniversary and were treated well - attentive staff, friendly and helpful. A peaceful 'edge of village' setting which was a little off the beaten track and required the brown tourist sign to help us find it - but please don't all rush there...we want to keep it for ourselves. Ashley and Tom were excellent - they chatted when we wanted to chat and left us when we wanted to be left - we were treated as royalty - thank you. Landlord and owner Neil was friendly, informative and it was nice to have a few words with him occasionally. A fabulous menu, really tasty food - locally sourced where possible even with current restrictions. Mrs Hobo loved the beef mains, Mr Hobo had to have the local Blythburgh pork and the accompanying ham and black pudding hock with crispy kale was an absolute winner. The frangipane and clafoutis puddings were imperative...compliments to the chef and kitchen. The quality was excellent. We felt safe, the track and trace at entry with sanitiser everywhere. Trays to carry cutlery and reduce contact. Visors and masks, social distancing, tables well spread - we felt comfortable in a comfortable environment. It's 5 Hobo stars for the White Horse, achieved at a canter, we'll be back if you'll have us.

We visited on Thurs 27th Aug 2020 for dinner. Friendly welcome and good service (in spite of the constraints of Covid safety guidelines). With regards to food it was a mixed bag - very mixed in some dishes! Our starters were very disappointing (the heritage tomato salad was small, watery and tasteless, my goat's 'cheesecake' also lacking any flavour with random blobs of something pink on the side and 2 small dry crackers). However, the belly of Blythburgh pork with Dauphinoise potatoes was very good (promised shallot missing from both our plates and there was not a hint of any tarragon in the dish). One of our party ordered a chicken dish that was overloaded with clashing flavours - see website menu for details. The salmon dish was nicely cooked but underwhelming. We didn't order dessert so cannot comment there. Our overall impression is that the White Horse chef seems unable to choose between all the ingredients he/she wants to offer so has thrown them all together in various overladen dishes. Less is definitely more and simpler dishes with fewer good quality ingredients (like the local pork and fish) would be more appealing and accomplished. It is a little overpriced but we appreciate that pubs and restaurants are making up for lost time.

The menu includes typical "pub favourites" such as burger, belly pork, chicken, fish and chips - but when the food came it far exceeded our expectation. After being ignored in a similar local pub, what a relief to find a potman/waiter intent on crwating a fabulous impression of his place of work. Well, when I say potman/waiter, I mean a chap called Neil who, after a while chatting with us at our table about a variety of different proprietorial roles and decisions, turned out to be the guv'nor. The boss. The head honco and the landlord.Ever willing to get his hands dirty clearing up or serviong behind the bar, our long chat ever so much about the White Horse and it's history, staff and kitchen. He even turned on the outside lights and gave us a guided tour of the fabulos looking garder restaurant, stage and bar.'Wasn't the pub busy?' I hear you ask. Yes it was but Neil still had the courtesey of providing a welcome as if we were the only ones in there. With a blazing fire, great service and super food - we ate there the previous Sunday - this is what hostelry in any part of the country should be like.Well done to Neil, his wife Gill and the staff. What a disappointment - of the three tables occupied two of us complained that the salad garnish with the sandwich was gritty - explanation being it had just come from the garden - at least I didn't find any wildlife! We had two evenings here last week which were very different but both really good. The first was one of their Summer beer festival events with a barbeque and a band. There were about 15 beers on, all the ones we tried were good and the barbeque meals were light and very nice. The garden is a nice space and you can see their allotment garden which produces a lot of the fresh stuff they use. There was a good atmosphere with the band which made for a very nice evening. We came back a couple of nights later for dinner in the restaurant. We hadn't booked but they fitted us in. I had crab arancini to start and lamb loin for main, both very good. My partner had goats cheese cheesecake, which was amazing. Very light but great flavour. A lot of goats cheese starters can be just a big bit of cheese, but this was very inventive, with a savoury crumb base, slices of beetroot, and a dressing arranged on the plate to make it look just like a dessert. A real surprise to eat as our brains were obviously conditioned to assume that anything that looks like a dessert should taste sweet! Her main was pollock with samphire and a very light curried dressing which was also great. The wine by the glass was very good, quite pricey as this whole area is a holiday hotspot, but the evening was very good value because everything was so nice.

We stayed in the accommodation here on a bed, breakfast and dinner package during a recent motorbiking weekend away. The owners are super friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities were modern, clean and perfect for a short stay. Great off road parking for the bikes and the pub itself was fabulous. The food was nothing short of spectacularly lovely... as veggies we are so used to getting the same old boring offerings with no choice on the menu. Not here, the food was imaginative, flavoursome and beautifully presented. It’s the little touches that make something great, like serving food on hot plates, complimentary breads and oils etc The same goes for the breakfast we had the next day. A five star experience and great value for money.

Had been out for a long walk and saw this on the way back to our cottage. We were not disappointed. Neil and his team provided a first class service and the food was of a high standard . Recommend the sirloin steak which was the best I had tasted for a long time. There was also a good choice of both Adnams and woodforde bitters. Dog walkers I would look to book a table in the bar area rather than taking a chance as space is limited.

One of the best “pub” meals we have ever had. A roaring fire was a warm welcome on a cool evening. We had pre booked a table in the bar as we had our little dog with us. Good job we had booked. Even on a Wednesday evening all the tables were reserved. We now know why. The food was excellent and way above normal pub standards. A busy, welcoming pub in a lovely village. The Caravan and Motorhome Club CL site adjacent is so peaceful. We will definitely return when we visit this area again. Highly recommend if you enjoy peace and quiet, good beer and wine and fabulous tasty well presented food.

booked table over phone and all was fine and easy. But on arrival we were looked up and down and treated as second class citizens, compared to how the older couple in front was invited in. We did feel unwelcome. Before ordering a second alcoholic drink with our meals I politely asked if he would mind us parking in the car park (in a camper van) overnight, as if it was not ok I would order a soft drink and he laughed in my face! The food was lovely and it's not particularly cheap so I did expect a few basic manners. The waitress however was very nice. Overall we got the impression that it's a local pub for local people. We ate here for dinner, warm welcome from the landlord and a roaring log burner. Great and varied menu with something for everyone and a few specials on a blackboard. Service was good and the food portions a decent size of good quality fare. Overall a great evening out.

We arrived without booking but it was a quiet evening so we got a table of our choice. There were a couple of real ales which were well kept and a good wine list. I had mackerel fillet with horseradish sauce, guinea fowl with dauphinoise potatoes and coffee cake with coffee jelly cubes, salted caramel and coffee sauce. My partner had mussels in a Thai style broth, loin of cod from the specials and rosewater set cream. It was all really, really good, well cooked and nicely presented. The owner was behind the bar and was very friendly and helpful, taking the time to chat with all the diners. One of the best dining experiences we've had in quite a while. Thanks.

Great to have a delicious local beer - Strummers (named after Joe Strummer?) - that’s not Adnams. Our Sunday lunch was also very nice - one of best meals we’ve had in the area. The landlord was friendly, knowledgeable and gracious. The only slight disappointment were the mussels but that was minor.

I am picky, but was sooo pleased with the food and drink. My friends rated the fish and chips the best they'd had. I had ox cheek on truffle oil mash with bone marrow...delicious. I don't eat dessert very often, but had to and it was worth it! Wish I'd had room for the cheese board.

Our small party received a very warm welcome as soon as we entered. Our reserved table was in a corner of the cosy area just through from the bar. There was a good range of both starters and main courses and all our food was well presented, balanced and very tasty. There was a good choice of deserts with some interesting combinations of ingredients. Service was very good throughout the meal from the friendly staff.

We spent an evening here for a celebration. Great dinner, everyone said their food was excellent. The local pork was particularly good and all dished were well presented. As a table of 8 we had an area up some steps from the bar. This was nice for us and avoided that big table next to diners who had gone out for a nice dinner for 2! The wine list was really good too and Malbec particularly good.

Been here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed with the food so thought it about time I gave this venue the review it deserves. We found the landlord a very friendly person and the waiting staff very efficient. There is always a good selection from the varied menu and still more from the specials board. I can highly recommend the mussels to start with they are absolutely delicious. It’s a very nice comfortable country pub serving good beers and high quality food. A must to visit and booking essential to avoid disappointment. Also offers accommodation which we have not tried.

Having chosen the White Horse as our birthday celebration venue before, we were very happy to go again. It was just warm enough to sit outside on the terrace where hanging baskets of flowers were still pretty enough to provide some autumn colour. This is not a place for average 'pub' food but at the same time is not all pretentious, and uses locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed a goat's cheese cheesecake and beetroot infused salmon for starters, and pork tenderloin and an autumn vegetable tarte tatin for our mains. Our desserts were an apple and cinnamon terrine and a coffee sponge with coffee jelly! The staff were welcoming and friendly and although we sat outside for rather longer than we intended enjoying coffee, we were not rushed away. Always a great venue.

Visiting my 97 year old Dad recently, we had to drive past The White Horse as usual, and, as usual, said how nice it looked. As it is only 10 minutes drive from my Dad's place, we resolved this time to call in, investigate and have a light lunch. How we wish we'd come here on previous occasions. It is a delightful, old-fashioned country pub with oak beams an open fire and even a gallery part of the restaurant area. We received a warm welcome and delicious food. It was only sandwiches and a bowl of chips, BUT, the granary bread used was home made (apparently it's in the oven at 8.00am every day!), crispy crusted and yummy, the roast sirloin of beef melt in the mouth and tasty, the cheddar cheese and tomato chutney very good too. With the sandwiches you get some crisps and baby leaves with a honey & mustard dressing. Alterations to the fillings were accepted with good cheer, mustard for my beef instead of horseradish and onion for my husband's cheese instead of tomato chutney. My Dad kept to the menu and had the chutney. Had we not already booked elsewhere for the evening we'd have been back for dinner and we all had a really jolly time. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Been waiting to get into this restaurant for some time. Small place so not surprising it is difficult at short notice. Food was lovely but not really extraordinary as I had been expecting. Good selection of wines and beers. BUT staff need to be properly trained to understand that interrupting a conversation in mid flow to ask if your food is ok is poor customer service. It made me want to say it was all fine until you rudely butted in. However, it isn't the fault of the staff. If people look happy, animated or deep in conversation assume they are enjoying their food (or they would tell you as soon as there was a problem) or wait until there is a gap in the conversation or the customers have put their knife and fork down to indicate meal finished/something wrong. As it happens the pigeon breast was perfectly cooked thanks - that's why I polished it off!

Great friendly gastropub in a beatiful village. We really enjoyed our stay here - there are two shepherds huts in the garden so we were able to enjoy afternoon drinks in the lovely garden followed by dinner, more drinks and then bed! Andy and the team made us feel very welcome, including our dogs. The huts are very comfortable and well equipped. Good value all round. We will be back :)

Every now and then my husband and I go away, just for one night, to spend some quality time with each other away from family worries and work. We don't tend to go far as my father has dementia and I'm his medical contact should he fall ill. We chose The Cherry Tree in Woodbridge for our trip this time and arrived to find a beer festival was in progress and a band was setting up. Not the type of break we had expected, but what a great evening we had. The staff were lovely, the beer was amazing and the food... the best homemade steak burger I've ever had, and my husband was impressed with the think slices of ham, egg and chips he had. The menu was extensive, and we could of had anything from curries and steaks to jacket potatoes and fully loaded sandwiches, there was something for every taste and full children's menu board too. As for accommodation, this was in a building across from the beer garden. We had the loft apartment (above the other two rooms available). A spacious, clean, comfortable room with everything you would expect from a B&B (tea/coffee, TV, bathroom towels, shampoo and body wash), ensuite bathroom with over bath shower and an exceptionally comfortable king sized bed... we slept very well. Breakfast (served between 9 and 11am on Sundays) was from a list of at least 10 items, with batista style beverages. We enjoyed the Full English breakfast, it was delicious and extremely filling. To answer the usual TA questions, yes dogs were allowed, yes there is off road parking, yes a play area for children and yes we will probably go back again in the future. Surrounding area... Notcutts garden centre across the road, historic Woodbridge is well worth a look, fabulous walk along the river (takes approx 2 hours loop walk) and Ufford Park Golf and leisure just up the road through Melton (amazing Spa facilities) Happy travels x

Proper tasty home cooked food. Eaten here 3 times during our weeks stay in the area. The downside is the road from Debenham to Cretingham - it’s very narrow but nowt Yorkshire folk can’t handle. Although my hubby was a bit disgruntled that you only served Roast Pork as a roast on a Sunday lunch and no Yorkshire Puds - he’s a Beef and Yorkshire Pud chap!! the food has been exceptionally tasty and the staff amazingly friendly. Highly recommend a visit

First time back in here since new management. It's safe to say The White Horse is back!! Fully stocked bar, good choice of beers, very welcoming host. It has only been back open a month, so they have started with a small menu to get started and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious food and served promptly. They have just taken on a second chef and are aiming to expand their menu shortly. Will definitely be back! Oh and their Christmas Dinner Menu looks delicious and very reasonabley priced.
