Always been a great friendly cafe. Good food and service. I cannot believe the price hike! Got there 1230pmmet a friend. Few people about. We shared a sandwich and chips.as the prices are completely overpriced. A bowel.of soup and bread £8! No wonder at 150pm, the place was empty....

Awful experience brought about by a single waitress who really shouldn’t be serving in a cafe. She completely missed off our friends breakfast order. After 30 minutes of waiting our friend went to enquire. The same waitress (older lady) simply said “it’s on its way”. No apology and an obvious lie because 10 minutes later it still hadn’t arrived. Then a really nice younger waitresss approached us who had witnessed the situation and apologised saying she had bumped up the order to the top. Ironically the older lady finally served the order but again no apology and when we asked for an additional plate she even managed to forget to bring that. A shame one individual can have on your experience.

Visited 15.09.2024 Came for some lunch with the family, my partner went in and ordered and had asked if they still have jacket potatos it was about 13.30. They confirmed they had some so he ordered us both one each about 10 minutes later a rude older lady who worked there came out and said they only had one potato no appologies, my boyfriend ordered somthing else 5 minutes later the same lady came out saying they didn't have the cornation chicken I had ordered with mine I then asked for prawns she asked if they don't have any prawns left what else? I said well I suppose beans and cheese they obviously didn't have any prawns left as I got lumbered with the boring cheese and beans. Again no apologies. The lady was rude and gave the impression we was just in her way although it was them that was causing this issues. When we did get our food the lady lumped it on the table and said erm do you want knifes and forks.. well.obviously we did she huffed and puffed and eventually came back with cutlery. When asking for the refund as the beans ans cheese jacket was cheeper than the coronation one I ordered the old.rude lady barely even took.any notice of me and pushed me.aside again no apologies. Would never return to this place very rude staff and the food we did get was barely worth eating cold, old and taste wise discusting how can u get basic cheese and beans jacket so wrong and the baguette my boyfriend had to change his order for was dry and barely had any filling in Wouldn't recomend and would advise you to avoid

Poor quality food. Dry tasteless bacon and poor quality eggs. The website does not reflect the current offering. Coffee was one of the worst I’ve tasted. Again, weak and thin and inferior quality. Service was ok. Order at the counter. This place seems to have changed hands and staff. I last went in early June and all was fine. Great table service and superb barista who made excellent coffee. Unfortunately things seem to have deteriorated.

Had breakfast with my wife and toddler, food was good, I've had better but then I've most definitely had far worse. Reasonably priced. The absolute gem here though is the farm shop itself.. the butchers counter I could spend hours and a bloody fortune in. Some of the freshest, tastiest meat I've ever eaten. The cheese room is amazing and perfect for the cheese lover. The fresh produce is also lovely. We will be revisting

So disappointed that the prices in Friday Street farm shop are sky high. Over and above other similar delicatessens in the area. I wasn't invited to go into the cheese room when I asked about some brie, but was offered a piece of Baron Bigod, although not given the price. I bought a few things and realised when I got home that I'd paid £41 per kilo for the cheese (seen elsewhere since for £26.50 per kilo) which equated to £11.23 for the piece. The produce looks lovely in the shop but is so expensive. I won't be visiting again unfortunately and I heard a couple in the car park saying the same thing about the prices.

We called in for breakfast and ordered the egg sausage and bacon bap. It arrived very quickly so obviously everything is pre cooked. The bacon was very dry and hard but the egg was fresh. The sausage was pre cooked and tepid. The white bap was served covered in thick yellow margarine/spread which completely wrecked the food. We had not been served a disgusting butter substitute like this for years. All good places use butter now. We complained at the till when asked if everything was satisfactory. The young lady on the till said she agreed with us and said we could have asked for butter. We felt very unwell after this meal and feel very disappointed.

After having no breakfast on Monday of this week we called in to the cafe about 1.30. We ordered a teacake and I really wanted egg and bacon bap.i did see they stopped serving breakfasts at 11.30a.m but the young lady serving said no problem as it was still available. The bap duly arrived the egg and bap looked OK but there were 4 huge rashers of bacon, I only placed one rasher inside the bap as others did not look favourable! The one I tried to eat was greasy and tasted like cardboard........I took it to counter and complained and the assistant came over later and said I was not being charged...... I got home Monday and was violently sick/diahreaa all evening, yesterday Tuesday was the same with griping stomach pains Today was being taken out to a show and have had to return. I am so angry.....I had had no food Monday until I had that bap. The egg seemed fresh so it was either the bacon (had it been refrigerated from 11.30 when breakfast stopped) or the oil. I have not used this cafe for a while and I shall certainly not be returning!!

It’s good. It’s small town smells of cheese and a little overpriced .It would have got a better mark were it not for the awful WiFi . When you consider they have charging points for electric vehicles but no WiFi it does you wonder. Plus they are in a perfect position for meeting rooms and catering for events. It would be nice to see proper chairs for the staff at the tills too. Otherwise it’s a good jump off point for Aldborough

We have visited this establishment on occasions whilst visiting Family in the area previously and were delighted with the food we were served. However our visit last Sunday 14th January 2024 at Lunchtime left our palates sunwhat lacking and underwhelmed. One asking if they catered for Vegans my Husband was advised " we do Jacket potatoes" we were seated and when our Waitress appeared I enquired if I could have the Roast dinner without the meat? I also asked the Waitress if the roast potatoes were cooked in animal fat? To both questions the slightly older Lady replied no and probably.. My Husband ordered the Pie of the day with new potatoes and vegetables, whilst could only ordered chips and baked beans after enquiring if the chips were cooked in vegetable oil. There were no desserts of any kind for myself to eat and so we paid and left. I am surprised that a Farm shop, Deli and cheese shop of this calibre does not have any food to offer Vegans or Vegetarians in this day and age. Personal hygiene seemed also to be lacking as we observed our Waitress constantly wipe her nose and not sanitise or wash her hands afterwards and continue to serve food to Customers!

I had a great time at The Friday Street Farm shop's taster day today, Saturday, 18th Nov.. They really pushed the boat out and the amount of food /alcohol to try was amazing. The Semster Roast potates (which were new to me), grown on the Farm, were delicious and I have bought some of the potatoes to try to replicate at home. I bought some lovely things this morning and I will go back nearer to Xmas to buy other items I tasted today. Well done Friday Street.

We have previously enjoyed the baguettes which had fresh bread and tasty fillings at Friday Street Cafe so we thought we would stop there today. On entering we were told that the breakfast menu which had finished being served and the lunch menu would be available from 12 noon. Fair enough, the chef needs some time to organise the kitchen. The menu between breakfast and lunch is restricted to only cakes, scones and hot drinks. I tried to order a baguette but was firmly told they were being served at 11.45 am. So rather grudgingly we had to settle for scones and lattes. The former (one currant and one cheese) were akin to rock cakes, dry and heavy going, although the sizes were generous. The coffee was rather strong for a single shot latte. Just after we had given our order, I noticed that one customer had a full lunch served and a table had baked potatoes delivered 2 minutes after 12. So the kitchen was up to speed well before noon or were these tables occupied byspecially favoured customers? At £17, our snacks did not seem god value for money even allowing for the high cost of electricity.

The lady promptly stated "no your not thats not right" If you stay you will be breaking the law ....and it up to you". People were looking over at us and this made us feel very uncomfortable so we left.Tier 2 rules clearly state that:"you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble" Well we were in the same household and the third person was in our support bubble. The pie was inedible. the crust was thin leathery and managed to feel as though it was under cooked and burnt. The filling was salty. the new potatoes were perfect and of a good flavour however the carrots and cabbage were unevenly heated being both hot and cold, suggesting poor reheating in a microwave . from the moment that I stopped eating I found it impossible to attract the attention of a member of staff.

I'll start with it's usually good here. Also, I appreciate it was busy - bank holiday Monday and a car boot on. Still...We arrived to find a long queue for the cafe so decided to eat in the marquee. We were then told by the staff at the marquee that there would be a lot of tables inside - despite the long queue - and were encouraged to go back to the cafe. We declined and were promptly seated within a couple of minutes.I asked for vegetarian options for my wife - no full english alternative but avocado on toast or bean on toast were possible.Drinks: the pot of tea for £2 was weak tea in a takeaway cup. I understand takeaway cups are COVID related. May be state that on menu / tell people when ordering?Asked for a large coffee - received a small. Asked for an orange juice. Was told there were no juices whatsoever.Asked for a glass of water instead - it never arrived.A long wait ensued - understand it was busy but c. 1 hour?'Toast': Smashed avocado on toast arrived as sliced avocado on (uncooked) breadSimilarly the slice of toast with the full English was also just bread.Asked the waiter if the bread could actually be toasted (as well as for ketchup) - it returned 10 mins later as mildly warm bread. Asked if the toaster was broken (half-jokingly) - was told that was the best that could be done with the machine's settings without burning it. If the toaster can't toast may be best to take toast off the menu - or get a toaster that can make toast?Fetched own ketchup.(BTW, saw some friends. Asked them after if they had the same 'toast' issue. Answer - yes. Their young son left it).On leaving was asked if all was ok. Smiled pleasantly (youngish staff, not really their fault, all were polite) and said 'not really' expecting some interaction. Response was 'oh dear' and 'the kitchen is busy'. End of conversation.Calculated bill. When received I asked if it was correct. Was told it was as it was half price on EOTHO. Said I thought it was still too much actually. No response. Couldn't' be bothered to pursue further for what I thought was c. £1.50.Should've queued at Marlesford...

I’m actually talking about the chips I made last night at home. I chose the ham, egg and chips because I fancied some more chips, I read twice cooked and I was SOLD. Twice cooked chips I thought, I bet they’re nice and crispy, maybe even fluffy in the middle if I’m lucky! HOW WRONG I WAS! Instead before me sat a plate of what only can be described as a well chopped potato, which had paddled in the hot oil for no more than a minute or two. I asked my friend, ‘How can someone cook chips so badly?’ The ham was okay, a little thin and I was disappointed with only one slice. The eggs were very good, nice runny yoke. Will probably just go to KFC next time.

Came for a late lunch around 2:45pm on Tuesday 25th Aug and were greeted by a friendly lady.We were pre-warned that there was a 35 minute wait for food and that a few menu items weren't available. We didn't mind. We weren't in any hurry and the tables looked well spaced apart (hadn't realised there was a marquee outside, sadly). We were seated and our order was taken fairly quickly. No macaroni cheese, no lasagne and no panini but fourth choice of a baked potato was successful. The wait time was now upgraded to 45 minutes. That was a fairly accurate assessment but we were on the end of a few jaded looks from a table of four in the corner that had arrived before us but had not received their food.Food looked really nicely presented. The only disappointment was the soggy jacket potatoes (microwaved instead of baked, perhaps)Covid measures? For those anxious about eating out during these difficult times, my advice would be that you would likely feel safer elsewhere. The hand sanitiser on arrival was empty, there were no screens up at the food counter, no face coverings/ shields worn by serving staff, no track and trace, people helping themselves to sachets of condiments... and the restaurant itself was generally a bit grubby e.g. Beams, bulbs, windowsills and the tops of the electric sockets (no covers in these, btw!)With the accumulation of all these things, we were all sadly left with the overall feeling that they aren't really taking the virus seriously enough at all.Government guidelines state "It will not always be possible to keep a distance of 2 metres. In these circumstances both employers and employees must do everything they reasonably can to reduce risk"Honestly, I'm not sure we noticed anything, let alone everything. As for test and trace. Okay, so the customer's compliance is voluntary, but the government are certainly encouraging businesses and their customers to all do our bit. We would have been more than willing to participate but, unbelievably, we were never even asked. Is it enough during a pandemic for a business to say 'well, we don't have to, so we don't'?I guess that's up to each of us to decide, when we are choosing where to eat.

My husband and I came into the marquee Sunday morning. We ordered our breakfast, the young lady who served us was polite and friendly. Breakfast was good and they complied with our request for extra butter and sauces. I feel the young ladies and gentlemen do their best considering how many tables they have to manage and the guide lines they have to follow.

I am a local so visit quite regularly. Not one to complain but felt uneasy about my visit. My elderly 96yr old mum was with me. We had a table in the outside marquee. The table had not been cleaned, lots of crumbs and I had to ask that it was wiped. Secondly the menu we were given had already been used and there was children s scribble on it. No telling if that had been sanitized. At no stage were we asked to leave a number for track and trace. There was hand sanitizer at the entrance which we used both on the way in and out. A very long wait for our food. Round about an hour. We ordered a drink to come before the meal, that came with the meal when we were asked had we had our drinks. One meal was incorrect and had to be returned. No seasoning or sauces were offered. The burger meal had onion rings which were very greasy and not nice to eat. Quite young lady waitresses and felt that perhaps if a more senior staff member had been in the outside marquee it would have been more efficient. In normal times would have taken the dirty table in my stride but felt that the sanitizing after each customer was very poor. It will be a while before I make a return visit.

Sat outside in the marquee which was pleasant and tables well spaced according to the current guidelines. Everything is disposable and there was food on the floor which none of the staff made any attempt to clear up. Some staff wore masks and gloves, but most didn't. The dustbins were overflowing with disposable waste cleared from earlier tables. Our waitress came over to take our order almost the moment we sat down so we asked for some time and as the menu has a "please enquire with staff if you have dietary needs" we enquired, however questions such as what vegetarian and vegan foods were available, she said she didn't really know but probably jacket potato! She then said she would give us some time to decide and would come back shortly. Needless to say she didn't and promptly sat at another table and had her lunch. After several attempts to catch another waitresses attention we asked if she knew what vegan options were and got a look as though we had asked if we could eat her cat! We then asked if we could have avocado on toast which was on the breakfast menu (breakfast had ended) and got a surly I'll have to go and check... the answer was no, because this part of the kitchen was closed - however avocado was available elsewhere on the lunch menu as was bread and toasted panini and toasted tea cakes!! When the waitress had confirmed that we could't have avocado we then asked what we could have....oddly she then had to go and check again. Jacket potato and beans was the only suggestion. After a long wait (we had been warned) our coffees arrived, at least we assumed they were coffee as there was no discernible taste, it was just hot frothy water, followed eventually by our food. The good news was that some of the food was edible and we did get everything we had ordered, delivered by a pleasant chap wearing appropriate PPE. When we settled the bill there was no attempt to ask if everything was OK, or had we enjoyed our meal. In fact there was no eye contact at all. It seems as though the staff are not chosen for their customer service skills, or maybe they are just embarrassed by the dreadful service they provide and ashamed to take money for the mediocre (i'm being very generous here) food. For a location so well placed on the A12 primed to relieve the Aldeburgh and Southwold set of their London cash, there is very little attempt made to impress or gain repeat trade. There are other eateries close by and I would recommend trying any of these before travelling here.Note to the manager: You do well in responding to reviews, however please take note that there is a trend here, you are not doing yourself any favours by defending poor quality food and serivce there are too many recent reviews that are poor or average. Most people are happy to pay a reasonable price for reasonable food and you are not offering either.

We went here for breakfast. The staff were lovely and polite. Really welcoming. The menu looked great. We had a dog so were given the option of sitting in the marquee or garden. We chose the marquee and were served quickly. We ordered the full breakfast. These aren’t cheap at £9 each. They were quite small. The food was nice but I asked for poached eggs and only one was runny. We only got one slice of toast each and not enough butter. We asked for more butter and more sauce. They brought the butter but no sauce. They gave us plastic cutlery and paper plates. I presumed this was because of COVID. They were accommodating with my sons meal which wasn’t on the menu. After leaving I asked back at the actual cafe to use the toilet. I was directed over to a porta loo near the farm shop. I advised the waitress I had eaten at the cafe and that the porta loos were being cleaned, she reluctantly let me use the toilet. We went to have a look in the actual farm shop but the staff were quite hostile with one lady just glaring at me as I entered so I left. Strange place.

Called here for some lunch and felt lucky as able to walk-in to the new marquee area. Good that hand sanitizer available at the entrance.Tables are wooden bench style and although some effort was made to clean these after customers left it wasn't in any way thorough. I wiped our table with my own antibacterial wipes as I felt that was necessary. Menus are large sheets of paper that are reused by all customers. There is a space on the back of each to fill in info for tracking but when I asked if we should fill that in I was told we could if you we wanted. Not much point if some do it and not others, rather defeats the idea of trace and track. Personally I have no idea whether it is a good thing or not but either everyone does it or no one , half hearted you can if you want is not good.Toilets are available outside . There was no liquid soap in the cubicle I visited, basic hygiene. I was told this was be cause the facilities are hired and they are visited every other day to be cleaned and restocked and nothing can be done in between . So just hope you get a restock day.All the above ok, not quite good enough, but would have tolerated all of that. However on placing our order we then waited for 45 minutes. Coffee arrived fairly quickly. Several other couples etc waiting for food. We were not told of any wait when we placed our order. When a couple who entered after us were brought their order we decided to pay for our coffee and leave. I have never left any sort of restaurant, pub, cafe etc before, and now, 24 hours later I still feel uncomfortable, but only at the possible waste of food if our order was being finally being prepared, but I also feel it was the right thing to do . 45 minutes with no comment, no word from the kitchen about any delays etc is just too long. So I cannot comment on the food itself I'm afraid. There are many of these sort of cafés in this area of Suffolk. All of them having to adapt to the difficult circumstances we are currently living in. On the day of our visit this one just didnt quite make it.

Now called the kitchen, the restaurant has also expanded into a marquee. We booked for Sunday lunch, very impressive. Clear safety guidance, helpful staff, good menu, lots of cleaning going on. No Sunday roasts yet, but the steak and kidney pie was delicious, as was the deserts, lemon and ginger, and a Bakewell tart. Great to be back! Bookings in the building, walk-ins possible in the marquee

We called in here last week and ordered two meals-(1) meat pie with chips and vegetables. The pie was delicious but the portion size for the chips was exceptionally small.(2) jacket potato with cheese. The potato was luke warm and grey. Really unappetising. The cheese was good but the salad consisted of some bitter leaves and was ok.Some of the staff smiled in a watery and indifferent way (One was really miserable). They were not engaged with us as customers. They weren’t unpleasant - just not really interested. The main reason we will not be returning, however, was the smell of high fat that reached even the far end of the cafe and lingered on our clothes for several hours after we left.

Me, my mum and sister went here for lunch and they had got my order wrong. Instead of simply saying sorry and swapping the one meal they’d got wrong for the right one, they insisted we ate what was given to us. When I went back upto the counter I was told by the supervisor (who I cannot believe is a supervisor with that stinking attitude) basically just said no I heard what you ordered and that’s what you said. There was no till receipt to prove this, and they’d also forgotten about a drink which we were told was never ordered. I understand orders can be gotten wrong but to raise your voice and tell us we were in the wrong and basically just to like it or lump it is UNACCEPTABLE. I’ve never walked out of a cafe/ restaurant before without touching my food but we felt we had no other choice. We spent almost £35 to be treated like scum. Disgusting customer service. We went to the farm cafe in marlsford instead which was amazing and I would much recommend you go there then this grotty place. Tables were sticky, food looked horrendous and as I’ve said, the WORST customer service imaginable. I would give MINUS stars if I could.

Appears Friday St. Farm Shop has changed some of it's bakery items to a different baker. They are cheaper but the quality is not as good.We bought cheese scones and white choc blondies. The scones were tasteless and the texture was dry almost to stale, and it was obvious palm oil was the culprit.A baker in this day and age would be advised not to use Trex.I am aware it is cheaper than most fats and goes a lot further, but it does tell by the quality of the product. Then of course the Blondies are an equivalent to the Brownie obviously, and the consistency should be the same, which is sort of crispy outer and squidgy inner. These were neither.Again dry and almost stale. In fact they resembled four small hard bricks.Obviously palm oil used again and therefore tasteless.I am sorry I needed to write this type of review, but I do feel Friday St.has been let down and consequently this is being passed on to the customer.

This is a delightful roadside establishment with a shop and restaurant/cafe. We had been told to go there for breakfast by a fan, so we did, and we were not disappointed. The Suffolk breakfast is just about as big a breakfast as anyone could eat! The quality of the individual items is excellent - real Suffolk sausages, beautiful back bacon, scrambled eggs cooked to order. I was truly impressed. My wife had an omelette which was enormous! The farm shop is large with lots of fresh vegetables and unusual items you would not normally find in say Tesco, etc. We will be back!

Don’t know why but we’ve never been to the fish shop before when visiting Friday Street - never even noticed it as it’s in an unobtrusive building to the left of the main entrance. Thank god we have found it!!! The most amazing hit smoked salmon and we bought frozen fish pie mix that made the best fish pie ever - I’d like to say it was my cooking and Jamie Oliver’s recipe - but having made it a thousand times before I can assure it was the quality of the fish. There was a power cut when we went so only cash which meant we were limited to what we could buy however we will be back to stock up shortly. Brilliant place

Great friendly gastropub in a beatiful village. We really enjoyed our stay here - there are two shepherds huts in the garden so we were able to enjoy afternoon drinks in the lovely garden followed by dinner, more drinks and then bed! Andy and the team made us feel very welcome, including our dogs. The huts are very comfortable and well equipped. Good value all round. We will be back :)

Every now and then my husband and I go away, just for one night, to spend some quality time with each other away from family worries and work. We don't tend to go far as my father has dementia and I'm his medical contact should he fall ill. We chose The Cherry Tree in Woodbridge for our trip this time and arrived to find a beer festival was in progress and a band was setting up. Not the type of break we had expected, but what a great evening we had. The staff were lovely, the beer was amazing and the food... the best homemade steak burger I've ever had, and my husband was impressed with the think slices of ham, egg and chips he had. The menu was extensive, and we could of had anything from curries and steaks to jacket potatoes and fully loaded sandwiches, there was something for every taste and full children's menu board too. As for accommodation, this was in a building across from the beer garden. We had the loft apartment (above the other two rooms available). A spacious, clean, comfortable room with everything you would expect from a B&B (tea/coffee, TV, bathroom towels, shampoo and body wash), ensuite bathroom with over bath shower and an exceptionally comfortable king sized bed... we slept very well. Breakfast (served between 9 and 11am on Sundays) was from a list of at least 10 items, with batista style beverages. We enjoyed the Full English breakfast, it was delicious and extremely filling. To answer the usual TA questions, yes dogs were allowed, yes there is off road parking, yes a play area for children and yes we will probably go back again in the future. Surrounding area... Notcutts garden centre across the road, historic Woodbridge is well worth a look, fabulous walk along the river (takes approx 2 hours loop walk) and Ufford Park Golf and leisure just up the road through Melton (amazing Spa facilities) Happy travels x

Food was excellent and we particularly liked the possibility of having adult small portions for some meals. Wide menu and plenty of choice of drinks. Bar staff helpful and friendly and generally a good atmosphere. In fact we liked it so much that we called in again for lunch on our way home at the end of our holiday f

Proper tasty home cooked food. Eaten here 3 times during our weeks stay in the area. The downside is the road from Debenham to Cretingham - it’s very narrow but nowt Yorkshire folk can’t handle. Although my hubby was a bit disgruntled that you only served Roast Pork as a roast on a Sunday lunch and no Yorkshire Puds - he’s a Beef and Yorkshire Pud chap!! the food has been exceptionally tasty and the staff amazingly friendly. Highly recommend a visit
