The best restaurants in Suffolk Coastal East of England

Well what a fab pub, very friendly and the food was exceptional. We were staying just across the road from the pub, so very handy to go in early evening for food. Maddie and Jim are very good hosts and made us feel very welcome. A perfect pint also says my husband. Would love to go again when in the area. Love Gill and Pete. Xx

Ordered pizzas, never came. Worker at Papas wasn’t even fussed, basically had my money and that was it. Not even an apology

This is one of our favourite pubs. We had lunch today to take advantage of their fantastic 50%off main meals offer. As always, service was friendly and relaxed, the food was excellent. I had a delicious vegetarian pie and my other half a very generous steak. Always good value but with the offer amazing value. We shall be back regardless of offers.

We visited the pub to treat my mother in law to Sunday lunch for her birthday. They put a candle in her dessert and made a fuss of her. She was delighted. We also had our 5 year old with us. There were a few dishes in the menu they offered to adapt for her, or they offered to make her a cheesy pasta. She had a small hake (which they happily brought out with our starters) and loved it, as well as a treacle tart. We had the fallow heart ragu and risotto alla milanese to start. Both elements were beautifully cooked balanced and rich. For mains we had wild rabbit in a mustard sauce (I'll be dreaming about that sauce for some time!) and mutton with merguez and white beans. We tried three desserts - sauternes pear, chocolate mousse and treacle tart - all were wonderful. There was a nice selection of wine. And yes, the toilets are outside - but they're clean, warm and well fragranced. The menu changes weekly - We will be back.

Used to be my local about 12 years ago. On arrival glasses were stacked everywhere and also in the Beer Garden. Maybe we came out the wrong time but not impressed. Bought two identical rounds of drinks and charged more on the second round. Very disappointed. It has clearly gone downhill and a wasted visit..

The roast was served Luke warm , hardly tepid , there was no one to tell , we started eating it , so it didn’t get stone cold , when a waiter finallly asked if everything was ok , we had nearly finished . We mentioned it to 3 waiters at the time of paying , and were told we shouldn’t have eaten it , they could’ve warmed it up . We don’t like making a scene at the time , so we paid £48 for 2 cold roast dinners , when we emailed with a complaint, we got a snotty reply . They are fake nice when you arrive when they want to take your money , but when they don’t live up to their side of the bargain by serving food at a reasonable temperature they don’t want to know .. we didn’t want warmed up food , they should get it right first time , the meals arrived almost immediately after ordering , so they are standing pre plated , and not served fresh .. very unprofessional and disappointing

Lovely Mothers Day lunch with our family. Extra special touches to the tables were just lovely. There were 7 of us, quick service, helpful smiley staff and great tasty food. We were all very happy! Superb little pub & great prices. Thankyou for a lovely lunch

Fantastic food, staff and accommodation in a beautiful location. The dinner was unbelievably good - especially the fresh fish we had. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality during our recent visit. We couldn’t have asked for more. Will definitely visit again.

This is my local pub when I need a few pints, great staff, great food, not tried the rooms yet. But in the immortal words if meatloaf....... "2 out of 3, ain't bad"

Food wasn’t very hot and there were lots of flies round the table. Food tasted okay but the pub felt dirty and the cutlery wasn’t clean. I tired to email rather than leave a review but nobody replied.

Best restaurant and takeaway shop around. Chicken kebab is very nice. 👌 highly recommend.

The breakfast was nice but the portion of beans were really dry, I think I counted about 30 beans 😂 my girlfriends jacket potato was cooked well but the cheese was pretty much none existent and the beans were the same as mine, very old and dry

Lovely friendly stuff with gorgeous soft fluffy dough and flavorful cheese on a simple margarita 👍🏻 couldn't ask for more. Would recommend

Awful food. ordered beef, green peppers in black bean sauce. Beef was tough and chewy, rice and chips were a very small portion. I only went here because taste of china (around the corner) was closed, and that’s amazing also cheaper! Wont be going back unfortunately.
