Brother, is the store not open yesterday and today? I came from a long way to try the local food, on Google just write it open and it will close, I won't pick up the calls, huhuu
The Sunday lunch is exceptional.
The potatoes are mental
Yorkie puds not massive but v tasty
Gravy excellent
Beef unbelievable
Parsnip puree shenanigans worth licking your plate for
Ginger pud delicious
Just go, you won’t regret it
Service brilliant too!
Went for afternoon tea, the staff were helpful and pleasant, however the food was a disappointment. The sandwiches were dry on one side and the fillings not that good, part of the groups cakes were small and only 5 between 2 people, although there was plenty of scones, the de-caf tea was weak however long you left it to stew, sorry but will not be returning in the future.
We used to love coming here and having a quick glance at the menu which on quick glance seemed the same as Salhouse cafe we both had a bap. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Yes it was nice but not good value when you consider for the same price at Salhouse Cafe you get crisps and coleslaw included. Thought for just a bap it was overpriced. Tables hadn't been wiped clean either. Staff were lovely though. Would we return? Unfortunately not.
The barman was friendly and chatty with some banter, some of the tables were sticky from previous spilt beer and not been wiped, moved 3 times before finding a clean table. However it's a pub and the staff were busy I guess but unfortunately the dinner I had was the worst roast dinner I have ever been served. The Yorkshire was doughy in the middle and burnt on the outside , the sausages wrapped in bacon and stuffing balls were undercooked for my liking and annoying that you have to pay extra for these, I feel they should come with your roast as norm. My main complaint, as I love veg, was that the parsnips and carrots were raw (and huge), perhaps try cutting them smaller and cooking a little longer, I don't mind ,"al Dante", in fact I hate soggy veg but these were a joke, I couldn't even get a knife through them! it was sent back and 5 minutes later after being put in a microwave and quite frankly still hard to cut through, even with a steak knife that the waiter produced the second time. My dinner was not even replaced with a fresh plate of food, merely all just put in the microwave, the only thing I got was another pot of gravy which was watery and tasteless. The waiter, whom I did like, commented something about hoping that my teeth could cope with the veg now? I told him they were still too hard and he offered to get me something else to eat but I told him to leave it as my son and husband had finished eating by now. I ate a couple of roast potatoes and a bit of chicken. My son left all his vegetables too. My husbands pulled pork burger was ok. For me I wouldn't eat here again..for £67 not worth it. Had I not already paid I wouldn't have payed for this one meal, and had I been on my own I would have requested a refund but it was a couple of hours we had come down to see our son and I didn't want to cause more fuss.
Had been recommended to visit. Atmosphere of staff was not a happy team, but efficient.
Starter:garlic bread was lovely
Main chicken appollo appeared like it was a ready meal, not that tasty.
Chips:very poor. Took on the appearance of oven chips
Dessert: pancake, disappointed it was not warm, in fact it looked and tasted like a fresh shop version and certainly not made on the premises. Pour quality chocolate sauce. Better pancake at a farm shop in honingham with excellent presentation and taste.
We were presented with our bill followed by a prompt “ are you ready to pay”
For what we thought would be the real Italian experience, we were disappointed.
£40 including 1 sift drink.
Better eateries on the same street so we won’t be returning.
Well.
Before Covid this restaurant was the absolute bees knees, best Thai food this side of Khao Lak..... went a bit down hill after. BUT we thought we would give it a go after reading it had been taken over..... so went up to Norwich for the day purely for this reason, went in , stood by the desk for 10 mins..no one appeared..... then walked out, and ate somewhere else.
Visited the restaurant with the family and the service from entering to leaving was fantastic. The food was delicious and the drinks were perfect value for money. I'll definitely be making more visits to this hidden gem!
