We liked the look of this tearoom (modelled on Betty's Tearooms perhaps?) so stopped to have lunch. We both had the fishcakes, served with salad and chips - very nice. All homemade and served with a sweet chili dip. We had coffee (Royal blend) for two which was served in a silver hot cafetiere - lovely. And we couldn't resist buying some macaroons to take home! Very good service too.

Full English was reasonable if you're not too hungry. For £10 before drinks I expect more than one sausage, one bacon. Not offered how wanted egg, fried and overdone. Toast on the plate instead of separate with a scrape of butter instead of your own provided. Caffeteire only contained enough for one cup. No-one returned to the table to check if all ok. Patron was frosty and prone to leaning over our food and drink. No better standard than 'Spoons. Will stick with The Ivy.

A great place with a good variety on the menu from all day breakfasts to afternoon teas. Friendly staff and dog friendly. We sat outside, we had 2 standard breakfasts, 1 vegan and 2 other open sandwich / toasted options. All were fresh and very tasty. Hot chocolates using proper chocolate and tea leaves in a tea pot for the tea drinkers. All very enjoyable. Staff attentive to requests. Would recommend

We’d passed this cafe the day before and it looked inviting so chose to visit it for breakfast the following day. The Eggs Benedict was superb - perfectly poached eggs, maple-cured bacon, delicious sauce and a little salad garnish. A cafetière of coffee with hot milk was also delicious. Great service, lovely environment, while watching the world go by outside.

Decided to ditch the high street coffee chains for something a little more grand and different. It turned out to be very different, we faced a wooden wall, not far from toilets which smelt each time the door was opened, dirty carpets and broken seats. I ordered a toasted tea cake and we layed hunt the current, we found three nd it was obviously stale, would have said something but no one came to see if our food was ok

We went in for a tea and coffee. We were sat on a nice table by the window and ordered what were some of the best tea and coffees we’ve ever tasted. It was a great shame that the spoons and crockery were really badly stained and there were loose coffee granules all in the milk jugs. I understand it must be hard but it made everything looked old and unhygienic. The table we sat at also had a really overpowering drain smell and made it quite unpleasant. Service was great however and the rest of the shop looked lovely.

Traditional English Tearoom. - genteel atmosphere. The loose leaf tea was very good. The sandwiches were not as refined as one might expect in such an environment. My white roll filled with egg mayonnaise and cress was delicious, but I suppose I was expecting thin sliced bread cut into triangles in a place like this!

Both my husband and myself were give vouchers at Christmas for this venue so we thought we would book for afternoon tea last Tuesday 9th January . Having viewed the menu online we had decided to both use our vouchers for the special afternoon tea , however Shane the waiter advised us that one each was a lot of food and thought we would find one between use was sufficient , so we too his advice and did just that. We were able to choose what type of scone we wanted , my husband had a cheese one and I had a fruit one . We were also able to choose the cheesecake and macaroon . The service was very prompt and Shane was very friendly and helpful . We will now look forward to going back to spend the second voucher !

Visited for brunch with my daughter, not very busy, about half empty and we were seated very quickly. Placed our order with the drinks coming out after a short break, I did notice very few staff. After finishing our drinks we waited for our our avocado on toast with a poached egg and waited and waited. After waiting nearly an hour I asked where our food was and basically they had never made it as the waiter never gave the kitchen our order, told them to cancel and left. Would not recommend, it all looked a bit amateurish to be honest. Note to owner, it would look more appealing if you got rid of the cobwebs on the chandeliers.

We came here for lunch one day on a stay in Bury St. Edmunds and we were both very impressed with the food, it was hot and nice. I had a cheese, ham and onion panini with a side of chips. It was great. Thought the breakfast would be the same when we went another day, but wasn’t. Well it wasn’t all bad, but my partner who is a sausage aficionado, said they were tasteless and considering what looked like nice butchers in the town, although as visitors, we haven’t been customers of the butchers, he was surprised. Additionally, it wasn’t a dinner plate so quite a small portion really all round really. My gripe was the toast, which was hardly toasted, one slice of thin bread and then two wodges of still frozen butter that could not be spread. No where to spread it on an already full plate, a very awkward manoeuvre, with hard butter, getting buttery hands which I hate. Why can’t places butter the toast for you? They have the space and the wherewithal to do it.

Beautiful food well presented, however I’m not sure how a large salad on the side of a breakfast dish was warranted. On a freezing day (0 degrees) in Norwich we plumped for the scrambled eggs on sourdough (good quality eggs with orange yolks) and Eggs Benedict with Bacon. Both with unnecessary large salads as accompaniments as mentioned. Unfortunately despite both dishes being delivered hot, they were served on cold plates and with these being placed on freezing cold marble tables with no tablecloth or placemats, these were soon cold meals. Likewise the hot Capuccino and cafetière of Sumatran coffee, although initially hot and welcoming, soon cooled on the marble top. Despite the cold meals the taste and flavour was good and value for money, with good friendly service.

It was alright. I’ve been before on many occasions and it’s always been good but never particularly amazing. Today it didn’t wow me at all. Firstly I ordered an orange tea which was nice..but cold. Okay it wasn’t like freezing but it was just kind of Luke warm which isn’t ideal for a supposed hot tea. I also ordered a lemon sponge cake on top of that which honestly let me down completely. The sponge was bone dry and the icing tasted like a packet of icing sugar, lard and some lemon cleaning spray. To sum up the cake was too sweet and lacked any sort of moisture. You’d expect decent sponge from a place that serves afternoon tea. Probably won’t come back, I’m sorry.

The rest of the staff were all stood around other than 1 young lady called Katie who was very proactive in helping customers and very apologetic. The male manager then proceeded to argue explain “ its not his problem our food is 40 minutes late” I would not recommend and I am only sorry that young lady has not been given so much as a thank you by her team or that awful manager

Usually good experience at this and the one at Bury. But this time not so good. Ordered soup of the day, as displayed Pumpkin soup and I said Pumpkin soup to the waitress. When it arrived it was leak and potato. I thought maybe it was Pumpkin? They were Busy so I ate it. When the waiter came to take away empties, I said by the way this was not Pumpkin. He said yes it was. Well, it has potato lumps in it and it's green I said. He muttered and left . He called the chef on the phone and then changed the chalkboard to Leak and potato, without returning to me to explain or apologise. The soup was fine I wasn't really complaining just informing them of their mistake. Poor service from the only male assistant.

A bit disappointing. My daughter and I were both hoping to have the mini afternoon tea. My daughter is a vegetarian coeliac. Firstly, the normal (gluten) scones were put on her cake stand, so those were removed and replaced. Then the cake stand arrived with ham sandwiches. It had to be taken away again and the sandwiches replaced. For me, there were no vegan options for afternoon tea - not a single scone, cake or brownie. Instead, I had avocado on toast which was nice except for the elderly salad leaves which accompanied it. The staff were pleasant throughout and (unprompted) took off the price of a pot of tea as compensation for the errors. However, it is very unlikely that I would visit again.

Popped in out of sudden rain shower and was immediately taken by the lovely ambiance. The chandeliers made it look very grand indeed. We had a pot of tea for two (real loose tea with a strainer) and to eat we had some lovely, buttery...

We visited on a Weekend afternoon, the table was cleared for us, but not santitized, which surprised me. We both ordered fruit scones. We ordered one each and got given two each. They were the worst scones I have had in a long time. Too sweet and way too dry. No one came to ask if everything was ok. Won't be going back.

We ordered 2 paninis, and a pot of tea for 2. We couldn’t decide on what to have in the panini, so we ordered 2 different ones with the intention of cutting them in half and swapping half, so that we had 2 different panini halves, they turned up already cut in half, saved us the trouble! Very nice paninis, with a bit of salad (with dressing) and a few crisps. Just what we wanted.

I was sadly disappointed with my trip to Harrietts tearooms in Norwich recently which was supposed to be a treat for my friends for their birthdays. I certainly wouldn't recommend Harriets for afternoon tea after my experience.First off, and to me the most obvious thing I noted, was the malodour. Throughout our time in the tearooms I kept noticing sewerage-like smells! I am not sure what the source of the smell was but this is not something one wants around food, or anywhere for that matter! Secondly, after receiving our afternoon tea platter we noticed that we had not received the number of finger sandwiches advertised and we had to point this out. This may sound fickle but as you only received 4 small finger sandwiches each I felt I needed to point this out. The bread of the sandwiches themselves was a bit dry and the fillings were not very luxurious. They were OK but certainly nothing to savour or remember. The 2 scones each were nice but a little large given the small amount of jam and cream provided for both of them. The other fancies and cakes were very unimpressive. They were dry, lackluster and certainly nothing special. The cakes were not as advertised and in all honesty felt like an afterthought. The exception was the one tiny bite-sized piece of bakewell tart which was delicious but there was only 1 tiny piece! The establishment's toilets were unclean with no paper. My friend had to inform the staff about the lack of paper and it was clear that the toilets weren't regularly checked for cleanliness or stocking. Inside of the tearooms was also noisy due to the water boiler system. Numerous times we had to shout over all the noise. The chairs were tatty and falling to pieces. Sadly I felt the whole place felt a little shabby and neglected. Although the staff were at all times polite they weren't very attentive. We couldn't easily get anyone's attention when needed. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when I asked for more tea. We were provided with woefully tiny pots of tea each with our afternoon tea and I did at first just ask for a little hot water to refresh our tea leaves but this proved too watery so I asked If we could have more tea. Without exception, in any other place where I have had afternoon tea, the tea top up was free but at Harriets we were charged full price for 3 more pots of tea and were not informed of this at the time either. Given the tiny size of the tea pots we were provided with to go with the entire afternoon tea, I was shocked that a top up was charged for!All in all I feel that Harriets is trading on an old reputation. I found it to be borderline grotty, uncared for and uninspiring. Needless to say I was very disappointed. At no time during our visit were we asked how things were and the totally insincere way in which we were asked if all was OK at the paying of the bill left me inclined to saying nothing and leave it to this review to express my disappointment.

Came upon Harriets whilst shopping with my son and stopped for breakfast. The food was nice and the tea and coffee was lovely although a bit pricey. The staff were friendly and attentive too. What did not impress me was the state of the toilets - filthy. Put me right off and started noticing other cleaning issues - piano with thick dust for one. For that reason I wouldn’t return.

Visited here when we were shopping in Norwich as my partner wanted a cream tea. We were welcomed by a cheery young lady on the door. We both had a 2 scones with jam & clotted cream. Plus a pot of tea. It was absolutely fantastic. My partner lives the tea so much she bought a packet of it at the little shop. It was very packed but it didn’t affect the service. Always a smile when the server came to our table. First time visit but we are definitely coming back.

I visited Harriets with my family of 4 for the afternoon tea as a treat (pre-booked).The staff was welcoming and didn't keep us waiting long.Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed when I sat at the table, the cutlery and teacups were dirty or at least had a residue stuck to them from the dishwasher, maybe? The table had smear marks, so it didn't look or feel clean. As the food came, I saw that it didn't look like how it was advertised on the website but that's okay. The thing that bothered us most was how tasteless and dry the food was. We probably didn't even eat half of it.From the website, the reputation and menu price, we all expected more than the above. My family and I did not enjoy the afternoon tea at all. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but we won't be revisiting nor would I recommend the afternoon tea to anyone.

Visited Harriets tearoom yesterday and tied our dog to the outside table. She spied a pidgeon and caused mayhem by dragging the table and all of the crockery trying to get at it. Pots were broken but the staff were AMAZING…. They could not have been more understanding or caring as my sister was covered in tea and food! As an aside, the good and drinks were also excellent. Would highly recommend this place. Next time will be mindful when taking the dog! Thank you guys for making a very embarrassing situation okay.

We wanted to have afternoon tea here as always stop for lunch when we visit Norwich which has always been very nice. We were advised to book as we wanted gluten free for two and one not gluten free. It was my grandaughter's birthday treat and £18.95 each not cheap! I thought, as we had to book for a gluten free it was because advance notice for preparation would be needed. Not so. We had to wait whilst the tea was prepared and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. The scones were rock hard, the sandwiches mediocre and it was clear some of the cakes were shop bought. I can't even blame it entirely on the fact it was the gluten free tea, as the non-gluten tea also included shop bought cakes. We had a pot of tea for two and no top-up was offered. I had a very disappointed grandaughter to whom I have had to assure that there are better afternoon teas available.

We stopped by for lunch on a chilly, wet day in August. It was busy but they squeezed us in and served us very speedily. We both had sandwiches which were delicious but sadly, we had no room for cake. We’ll just have to go back for cake when we’re next in Norwich!

Always visit The Lamb every time we go to Norwich. This time they was just about to close for refurbishment but the pub still had a great atmosphere and a good range of beers, wines, sprits and food in stock. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The pub is a credit to the city.

How do you mess up a steak that badly, strange concept, they give you tablets, despite having 4 staff staring at you not saying a word, you do it all yourself and then they charge you for the service... I ordered the steak, rare, it arrived well done and tough as boots, I couldn't manage it, could be the worst steak I've ever had! Was never asked how it was, just got up and left. Really cold strange place

Unpleasant environment. Once sat I noticed how dirty and littered the floor was along with food crumbs spread across the bench seating areas. Plenty of staff to clean the floor and tables yet this has not been done. Coffee was very tasteless and overly milky, would even say a tad sour, an overpriced experience. Sat near the back kitchen and a slightly eggy smell is wafting into the seating area which just adds to the grubby feel in this place.
