Cosy Club Norwich in Norwich

One of the more civilised places in Norwich to finish a night out. Old Fashioned a little sweet for me.

First time going to Cosy Club. We chose it as our “Christmas Party” meal choice (it was only me and my fiancé…self employed Christmas party). Our server was really upbeat and happy. I can’t remember his name, possibly Kian? Other staff just didn’t seem to look as happy, I get that there is stress and it being a busy time with it being Christmas so I guess that might be why? We ordered cocktails. The Old Fashioned was really nice, the Margarita was ok, didn’t have salt on the rim which I always expect but maybe that’s because I had the Seasonal Special version? We had 3 starter plates. All nice, but the Halloumi and hot honey just felt a bit overpriced for what it was. It was also a tiny bit dry so would have expected some kind of dip to go with it. The arancini balls were amazing. We did want the croquettes but they were sold out, which was surprising when it was only 4:45 when we were eating. We both had the festive burger and upgraded the fries to Parmesan and truffle oil. They were amazing! I very rarely get a burger when I eat out because I generally feel disappointed and wish I’d ordered something else but this one was lovely. The pigs in blankets were especially nice. We did have one drinks order taken wrong (wrong beer) but again, appreciated it was busy and mistakes happen. Total bill came to £90 (3 drinks, 3 small plates and 2 burgers) which just felt a bit high for what we got. The building is incredible, lovely setting. But something about the atmosphere just felt a bit off. Not sure I’d return for an evening meal. But would maybe try for breakfast or lunch.

We went for dinner here Friday night (13/12/24) and it was pretty busy, which we expected. It was very loud, partly from other guests which I don’t mind but the music was also very loud so we had to shout to be heard by the person sat next to us. It took us a long time to get served and while we weren’t in a rush when we arrived by the time we were paying it had become a rush because of how long it had taken. The food was quite good but nothing particularly special. I enjoyed my Spanish chicken main but it wasn’t good enough to make me want to come back because the price was maybe a little high for what we had. What really lowers the score for this review was the service we got from Ehab. He was overly confident and informal, didn’t use a notepad to take our orders which meant we had to correct him on some of it before he left with the order. When he took a drinks order from us I knew I’d have something later and just wanted water, when I told him I’d be fine with water he said “cheap!” Which I thought was a bit rude. Then later on when I did get a drink I got the festive cocktail special the Bailey’s White Russian (which was very nice and I would recommend!) and he commented “racist.” Which I thought was completely inappropriate and really put me off having ordered it at all. I wouldn’t tell people not to go here if they tell me they’re interested, but I definitely won’t advise my friends to try it if they’re unsure.

Absolutely awful experience! - the manager was very passive aggressive when we asked to be seated making some sarcastic comment about us waiting at the bar for a drink. He didn’t seem to realise the service was slow and we were fed up waiting. - it took 30 mins from arriving to get a drink served - the waiter immediately took away the regular menu and forced us to order from the EXTREMELY overpriced Christmas menu. - what a joke! The starters worked out as £15 per head. Whilst the food tasted nice they amount served was embarrassing. For £15 each I’d expect at least double the amount of food. Check the pic- this was to serve 5 people. - the mains were awful. The pie was hollow and some cheap pie from a foil tin. This food is cheap and offers extremely poor value. The veg was cold. - the staff are not delivering a Christmas experience. It’s just like a converter belt service - trying to get you and out as quickly as possible. - hated every minute being here.

After recently moving to Norfolk I was missing my local lounge cafe. I was informed there was a cosy club in Norwich only 25 mins away. I visited Saturday with my daughter and our small dogs. We was so impressed. The staff were so friendly and attentive making us and our dogs feel welcome, offering water and biscuits for the dogs. The food was delicious. The prawn starter was amazing. The seabass was better than I could ever have anticipated. The building is gorgeous and has such a pleasant vibe. I can't wait to return soon with my partner, this is my new favourite place. Such a great find. 5* all round from me...love it!!

Stunning interior of this old bank which has been turned into a Restaurant, went for a works party extremely nice food ok for a special occasion.

Amazing place, My daughter's and I came to celebrate my birthday, Staff efficient and friendly, only downside we had to wait an hour for our meal but it was delicious when it finally arrived.

The interior is amazing a real touch of elegance, the staff are incredibly friendly. Food was enjoyable. This is great for a treat or special event.

Had a really lovely pleasant evening , The Cosy Club is correctly named as the atmosphere is just that ( cosy ) and that’s strange as the place is huge, being crammed in or to near other tables in a restaurant is my bug bare but it’s spacious . We had a very helpful waiter Alistair who was spot on from the get go and nothing was too much trouble , food was lovely served swiftly but not rushed. There was an issue with our voucher and a Manager came and helped us with this , I didn’t get her name ! But she was extremely helpful . All in all a 5 ⭐ service .

A rather impressive building oozing with elegance and finesse. Stylish and suave, yet cosy in it's own unique way. This is a beautful place, yet gives the Impression of a once old fashioned gentleman's club, which I liked. The prices were reasonable but only stopped for drinks so cannot rate the food element. A really lovely visit and worth checking out for sure if looking for something a little different with a different kind of vibe.

Had a party of 30 in one of the rooms, food luke warm, service very slow and didn't take orders for desserts for over half of the party. Shame as always had excellent service and food in main restaurant.

Hi. Been here a couple of times before (breakfast and tea, both good) but this time, unfortunately service was quite slow (30 minute wait for main courses after starters) and portions rather smaller than expected, given the price. Flavours were good though. Perhaps they are having staffing problems. 3.5 stars

Lovely atmosphere and helpful staff members. We enjoyed our brunch and have used one of our stamp cards to pay for one. It's very cosy and bright place and loads of different lights around, our daughter really liked it.

Nice chilled, comfortable atmosphere (although November air conditioning was on.......totally unnecessary) food was very good, cocktails (reduced price) excellent very comfortable seating in bar area, service was excellent, attentive but not overly so, very friendly and knowledgeable

Outstanding food and service. Book to avoid disappointment! My fish and chips, served in a delightful caper and lemon cream sauce was amazing. My wife loved her gluten free smash burger. Desserts were amazing. Creme brulee with real vanilla pods and a crunchy top, and salted caramel and chocolate mouse. The house white wine, a verdejo, is really good. Christie was the perfect hostess. Thank you.

I had smoked salmon, avocado and scrambled egg on sourdough toast when I was at Norwich and I must say it was the best I've ever had. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was really good as well.

Nice visit, took a while to get the drinks after ordering, should have gone to the bar. Good was nice, but if you advertise potatoe skins double cooked, don't serve new potatoes deep fried, they are not the same and 5 small pots is poor value at 5.50! Nice staff though. Nice place, beautiful decor

We visited for our anniversary, to start with the service was great, then our waitress seemed to go home and we got ignored by the other staff. A really poor show!!! Our mains were great but we were then left!!!

Went in on our anniversary for lunch, and it was all so lovely! All the staff said congrats and we got comp glasses of bubbly which just added to our experience. The food was lush, one of the best meals I've had in Norwich and the service was amazing from everyone. We will definitely be recommending and going back ourselves!

We worked together at NatWest Bank at the age of 16 in this same building! Had a get together at the age of 61!

The place is posh with huge headroom. Drinks are priced reasonably. Service is good.

We decided to celebrate our wedding here, so booked the Vault (a private room) and we were very happy with our decision. Julia who held our cocktail making master class was first class and I can't praise her enough, thank you. The food was excellent, the cocktails were delicious and the whole venue was superb. Would highly recommend.

Great venue but found the food a little lacking. Ordered curry and was not spicy, no chutneys, wasn't offered poppadoms. But service was good and staff pleasant.

Place is amazing, really nice atmosphere and decor, firstly ordered drinks, starters, mains. Was busy so waited a while to get our drinks, and then told my steak option wasn't available so went for fillet steak, then we received mains but not starters, the waiter apologised, once I had my steak I wasn't very happy as it was very little, x4 small vine tomatoes and around half a portion of chips for £30 plus pounds, I complained to the manager about the issues and she offered us free desserts, the Creme brulee was absolutely lovely and highly recommend, would I go back, probably but pick something like what my other half had as looked more filling and cheaper (buttercream chicken).

Amazing venue visually, exelent service and the food was good.

Lovely rooms, good range on the menu and staff were very attentive constantly. A slight problem with noise control as the rooms echo a little so sometimes it can be difficult to hear the people at your table.

Nice decor, incredibly slow service. Will put it down to being very new and having a settling in period. However serving staff need to be more careful - putting large glasses of water and "watch out the bowl is really hot and the chips are straight out of the fryer" right in front of my 3 year old; several minutes after the other food had arrived. Careless. Edit: Returned to see if it improved. NO. Don't bother unless you like waiting 50 minutes for your food, and enjoy a complete abscence of waiting staff. Utterly rubbish. Avoid.

The food is fantastic, exceptional service. It really is cosy for such a large venue and has a lively atmosphere. I will definitely visit again!

Food not so great, but everything else was awesome. Service was great, the interior is amazing and drinks were yummy! The food was highly disappointing and not so great though, so we would only go back for drinks in the future.

Honestly couldn’t fault it. Fantastic food, a great selection of wine, a wonderful atmosphere and Jeremiah looked after us so well. The kitchen stays open late so it’s spot on if you’re heading out for food later than usual. We’ll be back!

We have been to the Cosy Club twice recently. Both times we were served by Christie. Both times she was brilliant. Always good with dietary requirements and so kind and accommodating. We come here regularly and are always happy. Thank you for being so lovely to us.

Fabulous old building with beautiful features.

Went to a private party in the Vault which was a room hotter than the sun. No air and so uncomfortable. There were fans and an AC unit which people gathered around to chat. I would not recommend at all. Food was ok and Liv the bar person was exceptional.

Extremely friendly and joyful service and the staff were very accommodating and knowledgable when I was admiring the decor and artwork.

I went to the Cozy club on a date and I had the vegan cheeseburger and fries and it was honestly the best burger I have ever had. I’m still thinking about it to this day! I also had the pineapple and peach spritz, which was delightful. Whilst the meal and drinks were quite expensive it was worth every penny for me. Will definitely go back!

Mark the manager was accommodating for what we need as a group of professionals needing some downtime. He made sure we were looked after. The staff were very friendly and Lukas was very attentive. The drinks are good value for money and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend!

This was my first time at a Cosy Club and it was for a hen party brunch. It was excellent from start to finish. With the service, food, drinks and venue! It was the perfect start for the bride and bridesmaids to enjoy the day. Thank you.

We were recommended this as a good gluten free option for Norwich. However the food arrived after a long wait absolutely cold. Only two staff seemed to be working in this huge space so we ate the cold food them complained. We did get 25% off the bill but we weren’t impressed by the modest portions or the length of time it took. For such an iconic venue providing hot food is the minimum you would expect. Avoid the Cosy Burger and the Salmon. - neither were up to much.

At the site of old NatWest Bank. Great atmosphere. Good food and service. Parking available nearby at St Andrews or St Giles. Decent portions. Not that busy on weekdays. Great for a meal out with friends/family

Had a birthday lunch with friends, great atmosphere, good food. My friend was given a free glass of prosecco 🥂 for her birthday! Friendly staff. One star off because of the distance and accessibility to the toilets. Would go again.

Just back from a large family lunch at the Cosy Club. 14 of us have just had a superb meal, including 2 who are gluten intolerant. The food was all perfectly cooked, served on time and very tasty. Food and service of a good standard and reasonable price. However the cost of drinks are ridiculous and unjustified. Nearly £5 for a small coke is outrageous and £12 for a gin and tonic! Come on guys how can you justify those prices.

The food here was really good and lots of options for gluten free, with friendly and accommodating staff. And of course, this place is so pretty inside (it used to be the location of a bank so it's super cool with its skylight). Wanted to come here for a while and it didn't disappoint.

what a great lunch, we went for my daughter's birthday and the drinks and food were fab, really well cooked fillet steak with parmesan truffle fries, vegetarian ravioli, crisp, sweet potato fries and affogato with Disarano velvet. Great service, great food, thanks

This is an amazing venue. An old Barcleys Bank in the centre of Norwich. Large open plan building with an extravagant circular roof light and old oil paintings on the wall. The highlight though for me was the toilets. Weird, but they are in the basement in the banks old vault. They have left much of this intact in a very imaginary way. The food was good and the gluten free options gave a range of choice and we're clearly labelled. No calling the manager for intolerance, which is refreshing as that is always embarrassing. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable, if sometime a bit absent, as we found out when one of the soft drinks came without syrup in (it had run out in the system). Had to go to the bar to get it sorted. However bar staff sorted it out fine.

Food was great, Jeremiah was very friendly and recommended lots to food and drink to us. We look forward to our next visit

Being located in an old bank, the atmosphere was beautiful and definitely one of a kind. They cater for your special dietary needs. Have a look at the old vaults downstairs 💰 We were served by Kristi and she was fantastic 🙌 Amazing service and super tasty food with great deals 🏦 Thank you Cosy Club 🙏🏻

Love this place. Food and drink is fab in an environment that's second to none. Service is great and the cocktails are scrum

The building of course is a fantastic space and everything is of a high standard as we've come yo expect from the Cosy Club chain, with one (quite large) gripe....... waiting for a very long time for a drink because of the very lengthy cocktail making process. If you offer cocktails you really need to have lots of staff. Preferably with dedicated beer servers for the less princessy customers!

Came here for my little cousins birthday and we had a great time. The food was great and the whole place was a vibe from the downstairs washrooms to the beautiful ceiling, everything was a 10/10. I will definitely recommend the steak and the black truffle ravioli!

Amazing building. Again attended a party food and service great. Only thing I found weird was the party was held in the vault downstairs so no windows so felt a bit claustrophobic and it was obviously very warm

Meeting up with old school friends we decided on brunch here. Table ready on arrival service was a bit hit and miss. Having worked here as a teenager when it was a Bank it was good to reminisce. Our food arrived fairly quickly but unfortunately the muffin was extremely hard and difficult to cut so let my dish of eggs benedict down. It's a large venue so would not consider an evening visit.

Seated at least 30 minutes before we had the offer of a drink. Poor choice on bottom less brunch menu. We either as a group had to opt I or opt out. It was a good job we opted out as we were offered 2 drinks. Had previously been to Tutrle Bay for a bottomless brunch and by far better value for money. First and last experience of Cosy Club. I think when the service was so poor they should waver the service charge

Went to a private function upstairs, lovely decor, nibbles were nice but shocked at how much my friend paid. Staff were lovely just a shame there was a lack of seating

What a fantastic place! The food is absolutely amazing and the service is brilliant too. I've been here twice now on family special occasions and never been let down. The steak is one of the best that I have ever had and the honey halloumi was a huge hit with our party of 6. Will definitely be returning 👌 Thank you for making our occasion special

Our third visit to this restaurant. Service friendly. Food not as good as last visit. Sea bass overcooked.Unfortunately the background music was too loud and not suitable for dining. Rather strident and abrasive jazz. Mentioned to waitress and were told it was "head office that chose the music." Nothing more was done so felt rather baffled .. they could have reduced the volume. Not very satisfactory.

A very awkward experience for a first time visit to Norwich! We had a lovely day out earlier in the day and always had nice experiences at other Cosy Clubs at other cities in the past. Very disappointed. The waiter was very rude. And to top it off, he was calling all of us "darling" and "sweetie", in a patronising way, which made us feel all uncomfortable. But soon as he got bored of that, rushed us out of the restaurant! So this left us no choice but to finish our dinner elsewhere at another restaurant. The Cosy Club's Service was poor and took a long time for meals to come out, even just starters, though a lot of the tables were empty! Appreciate it could get busy later but I think if that waiter actually focused on the current needs of the guests dining at the time, this review would be more positive. I really hate leaving bad reviews and can see recent negative reviews being left before this review, but we would not like anyone to be treated this way either. We will stick to other similar restaurants to Cosy Club in the future, I'm afraid.
