Advertises and named as a seafood restaurant, but we were a bit disappointed to find a shortish menu with limited seafood offerings. Having said that the Chowder starter was excellent. The bavette steak was good and the desserts were nice too. Good service despite being fairly busy - nice to have a carafe of water bought to our table as we arrived. Very local to where we were staying in a riverside lodge. Open for lunch most days but only Friday and Saturday for evening meals.

So sad that this is now a very grubby looking venue throughout. Especially compared to how popular, fresh (toilets for example), smart and friendly it was previously. The food is adequate but very limited - okay even if that’s all you want although it took well over 40 mins to arrive despite only a few tables being taken . However, there’s no pride being taken in the place. Staff were polite but after being served they reverted to a bunch of loud giggly girls behind the counter. It’s not a place we’ll be visiting again. It could do so much better for very little effort.

What a wonderful experience. A friendly welcome and attentive staff throughout meal. There was a lovely choice of seafood both on main menu and specials board. We had such a great evening we booked again for following night so we could sample more delights. Over two nights we had the lovely home made chowder, fishcakes. Prawn salad, crab salad and swordfish, moules mariner's and cannot fault any of the food. Finished off both evenings with coffee on veranda overlooking the marina. Prices very reasonable too. All meals individually prepared and chef even came out to check our requirements. Looking forward to visiting again when next in Brundall.

Wow! What a hidden gem! My other half and I wanted to go somewhere special for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and our friends recommended this place. The service was quick and very friendly from the minute we stepped through the door. Once we ordered, our drinks quickly came and we enjoyed a beautiful view overlooking all the boats. Our food then arrived and again, wow! Absolutely divine, both mine and my husbands meals. We will definitely be coming back here soon and recommending to all our friends.

We went for dinner because of good reviews on Trip Advisor and were very disappointed. The young staff were welcoming but seemed to think we were priviledged to eat there. The chowder was so over-salted that none of the sea food ingredients could be tasted although the soudough bread was nice. The dressed crab and salad was just that: a crab shell full of crab and a rudimentary salad of lettuce, tomato and bits of cucumber with a dressing which tasted like it came out of a cheap bottle - no red onion, no bits of red or yellow pepper, no herbs. I suggest whoever is in charge of the kitchen goes and eats out elsewhere to see how chowder and salad should be done.

I visited with a friend in the daytime and then immediately booked for an evening meal.It has to be The Best fish restaurant I have ever visited. Definitely on a par with Mitch Tonks’ Seahorse Restaurant in Dartmouth. The food is superb, beautifully presented and carefully balanced flavours with attention to detail ; the chef used raddish cress with the oysters that complemented the flavour expertly. The waiting staff are wonderful, whilst taking our order, he acknowledged some new arrivals and then returned his attention - small thing that makes a big difference .Can thoroughly recommend and I can’t wait to return

Our visit here was absolutely superb. Living in the village we'd been to East Hills previously and when we heard it was turning to a fish restaurant in the evening we were excited to try it. A pre-festive treat for me and hubby, wow what an absolute treat it was. From the moment we walked in to the minute we left, we had exceptional customer service. Rob was our host and he was excellent, possibly the best customer service we've ever had, thank you. Nice touch that the owner was in and stopped by our table to say thank you for coming. As a small business owner ourselves, we know it's super tough at the moment and we wish them all the very best in this venture, absolutely no doubt it will thrive. We cannot wait to visit again. Cannot recommend enough.Try the local Winbirri wine from Surlingham, just across the river, it goes amazingly well with the Brancaster oysters, the biggest and freshest oysters we've had in the UK!

We had lunch here prior to picking up a boat from one of the local yards for our week on the Broads, but it’s unlikely that we will go back.It is a café style place, and the covid arrangements are good, but the service wasn't great. We hadn’t booked, so there were no indoor tables available, but tables were available on the balcony which is well shielded from the wind, although definitely cooler than inside. I ordered a cheese and tomato toasty, and two teas to be delivered with the toasty so that we had hot tea with our lunch. That produced some concern, but the order went through. When the “toasty” arrived, it was in fact a sandwich. When I pointed this out to the young waitress, she was a little surly, but took it away anyway, and it arrived back warm, but hardly a toasty. In the meantime, of course, the tea had gone cold, and the young lady was positively grumpy about replacing that too. Not a good experience, but they have a captive market with the boatyards all around them, so I guess no great incentive to improve. I hope they do though because they are well placed to do good business.

Went there today as a table of 4, had to queue up to say we had a booking (for 5-10 minutes), then again to order, then again to order another round of drinks.Everything was on horrible takeaway plates and cups (all other cafe and restaurants still serve on real plates and cups). Food was not cleared but told to put it in the bin, there was one bin for all waste, no chance for recycling. On a plus, the food portions were big, but not amazing quality, just ok.

Fantastic location, warm welcome and lovely food. There were 10 of us for my birthday lunch, 7 took the afternoon tea and 3 ate from the menu. There were some nice touches to the afternoon tea, coleslaw, crisps and chutney. The fresh side salad and raspberries were appreciated in amongst all those carbs. There were mini scones, one fruit and one cheese, freshly made that morning. We even had a take away box for came we couldn't eat. All the food was served at the same time. I had been the week before with the dogs. Dogs aren't allowed inside but in the morning there is a sunny balcony with a selection of seating with the protection of plastic sheeting in the winter, we had cake and coffee truly yummy. There is parking however you do need to negotiate the stairs to get up to the restaurant. We are so lucky to have somewhere like this on our door step.

Visited East Hills as part of a party on our annual outing. We all had different meals but there was a common thread running through all of them. Whilst the food was of very good quality the way it was served was poor. Rule number one is to serve food on warmed or indeed hot crockery but instead our meals were served on stone cold plates and dishes. I sent my Carbonara back and it duly arrived piping hot having obliviously been zapped in a microwave.Another interesting aspect was with the Sea Bass which was beautifully cooked but again arrived on a cold plate with broccoli spears that were piping hot one end and stone cold the other! The same issue arose with the hot deserts, my chocolate brownie was exceedingly nice but was let down by the cold bowl which very quickly removed the heat from the pudding. It's such a shame as this could easily have been a five star review. In East Hills defence when one of our party said that her vegetables were cold to the waitress, when she was clearing away, they provided her with a replacement meal which was piping hot and apologised.

The fish and chips were particularly awful. (Overdone batter on tasteless fish, oven chips and frozen peas...... very basic ! )Best thing on the table were the baguettes which at least were warm!Such a shame as they are unlikely to really succeed unless they up their game

We had booked Sunday dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary the previous day. We could not celebrate on the day as we were travelling down to Norfolk. We were given a lovely welcome and shown to our reserved, spotless table. While we waited for our food to arrive we sampled East Hills non-alcoholic specials. The elderflower and cucumber was delicious. The food arrived very quickly and came with a separate dish of vegetables. The roast beef was perfect and my wife's chicken portion was huge. The roasties were to die for and the meal was delicious. I found room (just!) for a portion of sticky toffee pudding. It was one of the best I have tasted. We will be back next time we are in Norfolk

We ate here one evening whilst staying at the Riverside Marina in Norfolk. Sadly, they had run out of most red wines, bar their house (which was ok), but otherwise, it is a nice venue, predominately young staff, friendly and smiley The food is perfectly ok, nothing fantastic, but reliable enough, and come with an appetite as the helping are very generous! Have visited East Hills a few times and each time it has been ok at best and we have always been left feeling little bit diasappointed. However, we can see how it could be really great so we have continued to give it “just one more go” This evening I attempted to order takeaway pizza online. The online service was offering a discount meaning my order total would be £36. After half an hour of trying I gave in and called through my order. I advised the girl I spoke to that the website would not allow me to place my order and she advised that they were aware of the problem. Sent my son to collect the order and guess what?? no discount, the discount is only available on online orders (which isn’t possible because the website isn’t working!!!!). So not only were we charged more than we were expecting but the pizzas were over cooked. Would have been a nice little touch if they had given the discount knowing that the online service was unavailable. I think we have given East Hills enough opportunity to win us over, so won’t be returning. Service is consistently bad which is such a shame.

This could be a lovely place with their location but unfortunately it isn't. The first thing to meet us was several uncleared tables in the best area overlooking the Marina so we had to sit elsewhere. We found this odd as there appeared to be ample staff to clear them away who didn't look particularly busy. We ordered scones and coffees for two then waited what seemed forever for it to arrive, in fairness the waitress did apologise for the long wait. Again we couldn't understand why it took so long s it wasn't that busy. When it did arrive we wished it hadn't, the cheese scones had no taste of cheese whatsoever and was so dry it was obviously not fresh. In the end we abandoned them and didn't eat them. Coffee was ok. Not somewhere I would bother going to again.

Always a nice selection on offer from the menu. not been for a while but the food was very nice. The outside balcony could have gone with a sweep, there were food items in the groves of the decking which i assume the birds would clear up at some time!

Food was ok although service wasn't, this was a while ago I have to say and they were more interested in their phones than delivering an order. Disappointed.

The setting is lovely and this place could be great, but the service is always shocking. I’ve been many times, with friends, family, as a couple and every time I think “maybe it’s just an off day” but it’s not. A few of the older staff are lovely and friendly, but the young girls are more interested in talking and are rude. Orders are often wrong, take ages to arrive or queues are ridiculous. It just seems poorly organised and managed.

Looked for somewhere different to have afternoon tea after trying lots of other places around Norfolk and found this place tucked away. For £25 me and a friend had four sandwiches each (the cream cheese one was amazing!), coleslaw, crisps, a scone and a slice of cake each plus unlimited hot drinks. The sandwiches were lovely and the coleslaw was amazing ! The scones we thought were incredible. Lovely atmosphere in the cafe, overlooking the harbour. Great value and great service. I will be coming back with my husband and children!

Food and surroundings quite acceptable but the warmth of the welcome was sub zero. No greeting, no smiles, not just to us but to all customers. Food with attitude you might say andca bad one at that.

The wife dragged me out for lunch and I was glad she did - even if she didn't know where the place was!

We were recommended this place and we are very glad we were! It feels very haphazard in a way but nothing went wrong at all. We ordered roast lamb and it arrived promptly. Good portion of meat, 3 large roast potatoes and a homemade yorkie. Then 2 dishes of mixed veg for us to share. It was spot on. All cooked as it should be and at what I would say was a very good price.

What a charming, quirky little cafe. We booked for dinner and were seated overlooking the garden and side of the dining area. As we ate we enjoyed watching the resident heron catch a pike from the river!

Visited for an evening meal and a breakfast. Both meals were excellent, staff were very friendly, the restaurant has a nice welcoming feel. Our first visit on Friday was just for a cake and coffee, but decided to book for the following evening and then had a breakfast on our last morning. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely visit again if in the area.

Excellent little cafe in boatyard. Visited here 3 times and food has always been very good. Has a good choice of food. We did want to go for an evening meal but it was fully booked.

We live nearby and visit fairly often for breakfast, lunch or coffees. Nice food and atmosphere and great sitting on the terrace watching other people work in the boatyard in summer.

Friendly service. Shame the heater wasn't working outside, as was cold that evening and had dog with us. They offered us blankets. Dog beds and bowls available, which is a nice thought. Didn't go inside, but looked nice and they had their own gift shop. We had pizza which was slightly overcooked. Pork belly was lovely. Had carrot cake too... yummy! Parking is fine, plenty of room. Would recommend and return.

Popped in for a light lunch while out shopping and I must say I barely left any crumbs on my plate. Staff were considerate of my needs providing decaf tea and I would like to go again

Lunch with disabled parents. Friendly welcome by Maggie who showed us several table options and offered to take parents to and from the disabled toilet. Also severed by Maggie at the bar - busy lady as the restaurant was pretty full. Food a little slow arriving but the mixed grill and gammon we properly cooked not fling and ping when happens elsewhere. Mixed was excellent with good cuts of steak and gammon and quality sausages. Also FOC swap to jacket potato. Deserts also nice and meals not overpriced with their 25% off deals. Toilets could do with a revamp / some TLC. Otherwise very good find for lunch.

Great real ale pub attached to Chalk Hill Brewery. Excellent selection of hone and guest beers. Truly something you would want to show a foreigner as amongst the best of an exemplary British pub. Darts board with good lighting regularly used. Outside seating on the road side much quieter since traffic restrictions. A lively place with a fair blend of regular and irregulars. Staff work hard to provide prompt and efficacious service. Food available which sounds good but can't say I have tried yet. Modern feel environment without falling to tacky, brash or gimmick. Thoroughly recommend and close to the station making it accessible to all.
