Lovely warming bar and restaurant we popped in after a walk along the cliffs from Cromer. Stopped for a bit to eat. Great service, attentive, polite staff and tasty food.
We had our second visit here today as thought maybe the first time was just a bad day, based on the reviews on here but we will never go again.
It’s a huge pub and it has a playground, great moorings but that’s as far as I can go with positives.
Inside it’s dusty, dated, cheap, not over friendly, the food is such poor quality that we left most of what we had and didn’t bother with the “free” ice cream for the kids either.
It is so expensive for what you get, in our opinion. Even our 4 and 7 year olds wouldn’t eat their meals.
But the table next to us was heard saying “this is so good” to each other.
Sadly not for us.
Food was nice, we stopped for lunch. Had Jacket potato which was nice. Ordered a tuna baguette with extra chips. Received a tuna sandwich with no chips. Chased the chips, still didn't come out. Went back to get chips refunded but only 1 staff serving. Gave up waiting and thought I'd let the £1 go. But a member of staff then did come over and ask if we were OK and went and refunded them which was nice of her.
Full of grease, cold chips and now feel sick as a pig absolutely disgusting. Used to be really nice food and well priced now stupidly over priced gone seriously down hill. Will not be ordering again.
Wow! What a disappointment- a soulless dull empty establishment that costs the earth for very little. Ordered 3 drinks - 2 x vodka & lemonade & 1 gin & lemonade. (singles). Rang up @ £19! Realised they had done a double gin and questioned it but didn't get very far... Totally empty despite being a weekend.
When we arrived there was one bar man doing everything from showing us to our table to serving us drinks and taking food order whilst doing the same for others.
Ibhad tge pie and it was so undercooked ,my wife had the lamb and there was more fat than lamb . A Lot Better resturants in the surrounding area
No atmosphere . Sent the food back .
We often eat here at the Limes and the food is always very good and the bar is clean & tidy. Service is quick and the staff very pleasant and a particular reference must be made to Carol who is a very pleasant and efficient server. She is always on the move looking to ensure all customers are well looked after. We visit many Spoons around the country and we would say that Carol is the best server we have encountered on our travels not only in Spoons but also in many other establishments.
Done such a fantastic job on revamping the garden centre and restaurant. Such a shame the food was terrible!
My wife had what was supposed to be Chicken schnitzel which was on the special board. The first one was so tough it was overcooked and couldn’t cut it. This was replaced with a second one and was told by the waitress they are all like that!
I had a cheese and onion omelet which had been burnt on one side and was presented inside out to hide the burnt base.
A lady who worked there named Heather, came and asked us if we enjoy our meal and thought we were joking when we said it was awful.
She apologised and asked us if we would like a piece of cake or a refill of our drinks which we declined.
We walked into the Red Lion in Stiffkey yesterday, where we had an awful experience. To begin with, when we went up to the bar to ask for a menu, the staff member we spoke to was abrupt and had an off manner straight away. He gave us a menu and we sat down and waited, as we were told that inside was table service. We watched as he served other customers. Twenty minutes later we still hadn’t been served, so went back up to the bar and asked if we could order our food. The same member of staff told us that the kitchen had closed and was no longer serving food, which was news to us. We questioned why he gave us a menu in the first place and hadn’t come and served us, knowing the kitchen was going to be closing. He was unapologetic, continued in his off manner and tried to blame us for not ordering sooner (even though it was table service inside). He then said he hadn’t taken our order as he was busy on the bar. He went and spoke to the kitchen and said they would be willing to serve us, but it would be another 20 minute wait. By then we felt so unwelcome, disappointed and disgusted with his attitude, we decided to leave and find another restaurant where we would be welcome and treated better. The whole experience ruined what had been a lovely day up until that point.
A really nice pub. I am Gluten free and the young Chef (Harden) was so helpful and the lunch time meal freshly prepared GF fish finger sandwiches was really good. The others had great meals and the plates were clean. Gods food good beer.
Really awesome takeaway service: walked in bank holiday Friday at peak times to friendly welcoming quick service. They only took 10 minutes to prepare our food. Very affordable prices and one of the best takeaways I can remember to date. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
