Been here a few times for dinner- really great food and a lovely atmosphere. The soup is always a must! Fish dishes are always lovely as well and they have a good selection for meat and non-meat eaters. Service can be a little slow when busy but fine if you’re having a nice leisurely dinner. The only reason I’ve given 4 instead of 5 as they no longer have a “bar” area where you can sit and have a drink. It’s seems it’s all food tables in the last year or so- it was nice to sit and have a drink before/after dinner. Recommended for dinner and heard they do good Sunday roasts

We've visited on a number of occasions when in this area over a few years.Previously it has been very good but sadly on this visit it has slipped. Service was very slow - over an hour from ordering to mains being served and half an hour from ordering sweets to their arrival. Waiting staff seemed harassed and not giving attention to details - no spoon to serve cauliflower cheese, forgetting one of the drinks, bringing rare beef when well done had been ordered... Slow roast belly pork, if roasted long and slow till the fat practically dissolves, can be excellent. Shorten the cooking time and the flavour doesn't develop and it's a bit chewy. Unfortunately this was the latter. I hope this was a one off because of staff issues and that it will recover it's previous standards.

We visit Blakeney once a year a make a point of having dinner at the Wiveton Bell, but this year we thought we would try one of their famous Sunday lunches instead. After a long bracing walk, we arrived for our reservation at 12.45 and were promptly shown to our table, asked for drinks, given menus etc. Drinks arrived quickly, the order was taken, starter for my husband, two beef roast dinners and dessert for me. Then we waited. My husband’s starter, a terrine, arrive half an hour later. They were busy but this seemed a bit long. People coming in after us were already on main courses. It was then we encountered the problem, our main course didn’t arrive, after an hour I asked the waitress politely where it was, she checked and it was ‘just coming’. 20 minimum later it was served. We had now been there an hour and a half. Tables had come and gone. Surely my dessert would be quick? No, we sat another half an hour and told the staff we were leaving without it! I understand they were busy but tables all around us were served three courses and had left. They took the dessert off the bill that I did not have and the service charge, although my husband did leave a tip. It is such a shame as we can not fault the food and have always loved coming to this restaurant. Please find a solution to this, maybe do not overbook Sunday lunch?

We only called in for coffee but were impressed with the decor and friendliness of staff…..we will definitely return for a meal when we are next in the area as the menu looked very appetising. A shame that there is not an area for just having a drink but we were told that they would always try to accommodate if table bookings allowed and that they were looking to address this in the future. It would be a wonderful “local”

Lovely village and impressive Norfolk church, the Wiveton Bell is ideally located on the common. It’s more restaurant than a pub and on my first visit I was bowled over by the quality of the food, including the chalk stream trout. This time, I still loved the food - but was more conscious of how pricey it is, how the tables are crammed together and how understaffed they are. Our waitress was superb but there really need to be two of her as she was run off her feet.

Not great it was our second visit, the first visit the my partners meal arrived 15 minutes before mine, however the food was really nice so we put it down to a one off bad experience, This time however we arrived to be told they are busy and we need to be leaving in 1hr 30 mins, I had asked for a quiet table instead we was put on a table right next to the front door, the lady on the table next to us had undercooked prawns which was concerning! We then asked to be moved outside, which was at least peaceful due it being slightly chilly and us the only people outside, when the food was brought over we wasn’t offered sauces and I wasn’t brought a steak knife despite having steak, we then witnessed a waitress come to the barbecue and arrange someone else’s meal with bare fingers that she had just opened at least one door with god knows what germs on it! And who can guess what else she has touched, £12:50 was knocked off the bill but this doesn’t really make much difference to a poor experience so there won’t be a third visit.

Lovely wedding anniversary meal. Was surprised at how busy the restaurant was shortly after 6.30pm on a Wednesday night. Glad we booked ahead. Great dog friendly tables. Super timely service from staff. Great tasting filling food I had the ‘Chalk Stream Trout, Samphire, Broad Beans, New Potatoes, Brown Shrimp, Parsley Beurre Blanc’ which was delicious and my husband had haddock and chips with excellent homemade mushy peas. Chips were crunchy and plenty of them. We discovered it by accident on our way home last year. Love the internal design. From reading other reviews its obvious they have acted on displaying information outside eg bbq nights etc. We will definitely return. Thought the waitresses were very knowledgeable about the beverages and food on offer.

We had the three coarse Sunday lunch, the starters and desserts were lovely but the mains were obviously re-heated, tough as boots sirloin beef, roast potatoes very dry, gravy like water and the Yorkshire pudding so crispy you could snap it in half, it was only 3pm so not late, they had also ran out of apple sauce when pork belly is 1 of the only 2 main meat Sunday dishes available. Under staffed I think, I saw a girl putting dinners on wrong tables, taking them back to the kitchen pretty much the whole two hours we were there. The bill came to £145 with drinks and we drove away upset. No parking either. Gents has non-flushing urinals so the gents smells strong of urine, unhygienic I think for a food establishment. A very poor show. We will not return and we will go to the The Three Swallows next time.

We booked a family lunch to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. We were staying nearby in Holt. It’s an attractive pub in a lovely location. The waitresses who served us were very pleasant although a couple of things were forgotten or the wrong thing brought. The food was only average unfortunately. Gnocchi was bland and quite tasteless. Sunday roast was ok but nothing special. This was disappointing as it was a celebration. We probably wouldn’t go there again to eat.

If you are looking to speed eat your meal with average food, packed in like sardines and enjoy complete indifference by staff then this is the place for you. We have been coming to this pub for many years but since the change over it appears to have gone down hill. The pub is beautiful, with a beautiful garden and lots of car parking. We come for Sunday lunch, and had a starter and one roast beef and pork belly. The curried soup was lovely but the roasts were very poor. The Yorkshire pudding tasted stale, and the pork belly was very undercooked. The veg on the side was very soggy, and felt like it had been sat around for ages (despite us having an early lunch at 12.15). The service was also incredibly slow, despite the restaurant not being full, and we had to follow up for our mains due to the time lapse. The staff were friendly however they seemed inexperienced and chaotic - you could constantly seen food being returned to the kitchen, which was alarming in itself, and the staff openly flapping. I won’t be coming back, and wouldn’t recommend you visiting.

We have dined here in the past and really enjoyed it. However today we had Sunday lunch with family and were disappointed. Staff were very friendly but everything was rather slow and chaotic. The waitress arrived with our main course before we had had our starters/snacks so we sent them back. We had ordered olives/bread/cheese sticks so nothing needing cooking, we then waited another 20 minutes before they arrived. The table next to us had ordered exactly the same after us and had theirs delivered. Surely we should had ours first as we had been waiting. The roast beef main course was very fatty and tough. Overall pleasant meal but do not think it warranted £17 as service charge.

Average at best. Frozen fish that tasted of nothing. Obvious low grade ingredients with profit margins at the forefront of every decision. £36 for a steak and when I asked if it was local, the answer was “I think so”. Following investigation, it transpired it came from “Suffolk”. In other words, what ever the large chain catering supplier delivered. Such a myriad of local produce, use it! This place could be an absolute goldmine, however they need to increase the staffing levels to improve the service to fit the settings and food. I appreciate this is difficult when the weather is so unpredictable however they had 2 service staff on to accommodate around 50 customers and the staff were constantly inside when everyone was outside. From the front we thought it was closed so maybe encourage people to sit at the front first before you offer the back - both are equally picturesque. The setting is amazing, the pub was spotless, and the food excellent - I would suggest having more casual light bites - we all have varied appetites however for just a light bite/sandwich/wrap/salad whilst cycling we all really struggled to choose - perhaps introduce a Greek salad? We were visiting so thought the price was average however we were with local people who thought it was expensive especially v the service. Increase the staffing, make the menu a tiny bit more varied and you will hit your goldmine

We recently dined at this village pub and had a pleasant experience overall. The outdoor setting was lovely and the food was delicious. However, we were disappointed when we noticed an automatic gratuity added to our bill. We believe that tipping should be optional and requested for it to be removed, but unfortunately, the staff refused to do so. This policy left a negative impression on us and will deter us from returning in the future. We would have left a tip anyway but my view is it should NEVER be automatically put into a bill, and certainally not refused to be removed. Despite this issue, the atmosphere and cuisine were enjoyable.

We ordered some drinks and food for the children but in order to order our main meal I again had to find someone. There was no one in the dining area and I had to go into the back of the bar to ask for service. It was disconcerting and embarrassing ( we had friends from America with us) that there was no one in the dining area to serve us. We booked at the Bell having visited it previously and enjoyed its overall ambience and food. We took a small party who understood from the website that it had a fixed price two course menu. On arrival we found that this was discontinued and only the a la carte menu was available. Our meal was adequate but unremarkable: mine was a small piece of fish in overcooked batter and rather bland and scarce chips. I will certainly be looking elsewhere on my next visit. A cute setting with a lovely room, situated beside a church. The pub, and the room we had, are on the side of a road that is the main route in and out of the nearby village. However, it is not too disturbing and pretty quiet. The pub's aesthetic is nice enough, but we found the service to be pretty slow, particularly as the pub was quite empty when we had entered and placed our order. The food was ok, but we found the burger to be somewhat dry and the battered fish to be quite greasy. We paid for the option to have breakfast included, which was also nothing spectacular. The French Toast is on sourdough, so isn't quite the soft and smooth texture that is expected of French toast, and the bananas onto were still quite tough and minimally caramelised. I have struggled to justify the price paid, given our experience but the staff are very friendly and receptive of the feedback, and the location is cute and very close to Cley beach.

Terrible meal. What a shame ☹️ We have had so many lovely meals at the “Wivvie Bell” but after today we will not be returning. Awful starter, greasy, oily consommé with a mushroom that was as tender as a tyre from my Volkswagen. This was followed by a dried up polenta cake, several burnt carrot batons and a few rock hard squares of parsnip. Very, very disappointing. Tried a dessert to try to placate my hunger but was met with a very sad apple crumble ( mushy sharp apple puree ) served with raspberry sorbet !?!? Nope, this combination doesn’t work. If you want folks to come back you really need to serve better quality meals.

However, the manager went “above and beyond” the call of duty and asked the chef to drive to a”sister” establishment to pick up some burgers, while we tucked in to our starter! The burgers were then cooked on the premises and were really great. We barely noticed any delay. Struggling to find anything positive to say besides it was edible. Nothing unique or special and poor variation. My girlfriend’s fish dish was scorched. Service - 2 Not overly attentive or welcoming at all. Shocked at the end that when going to pay and I asked to pay my own tip and I was advised the amount stated it was mandatory. Not sure this is even legal, and it was not set out in small print on receipt or made clear upon service. Ambience - 2 People continually walking in and out of the conservatory leaving the door open. Even staff struggled to shut the damn door. I could have been eating in average gasto pub.

A small glass of wine and a beer and the total was £65. Get yourself booked into The Gunton Arms and don’t waste your time here!

Dissapointing, called in here when out walking, we were looking for a place to have my 65th birthday meal later in the week, we obviously disturbed the server who was too busy on her lap top to serve us or even pass the time of day with us, - VERY unwelcoming, needless to say we left - didn't even get ''godbye'' and will not return again.........

Lovely restaurant. Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. Service very good. Music was very good, gave a lovely atmosphere as it was Valentine's Day.. We enjoyed our lamb main dish as it was super tender and for dessert we both had the custard tart which was delicious. We are usually here later in the year and sit outside. Inside is very cosy. Recommended!

Just back from a three night stay at the Wiveton bell. We had such a lovely few days away. The pub has a lovely warm, welcoming, feel about it straight away, decorated and furnished cosily, keeping its pub charm, yet with a modern feel. A beautiful setting, and also close to so many other lovely places, Cley, Holt, Holkham, Cromer, Sheringham....so handy for lots of places, without the crowds. The food was really lovely, great menu, cooked really well, it was the loveliest meal we had had out in a long time! Staff were so friendly and helpful, proffesional and good at what they do. Nothing was a problem and we were made to feel at home. We decided to join the bingo on the Friday night, which was great fun! A busy vibrant pub full of people doing something a little different, and a good cause in providing for chosen charities. Great to see everyone come together. Staff here were a great group of people, and that goes such a long way, not one to do a review but wanted to share, we already look forward to going back.

Our first visit. We had Sunday lunch, in a very vibrant , attractive room. A warm welcome, and great service, but something went wrong half way through our meal. We finished our main course, and our waitress disappeared. Everyone passed us with our empty plates infront of us, for the next 15 - 20 minutes, until I asked for them to be removed. Hopefully it was a hiccup,

We’ve visited here many times over the last 20 years and enjoyed it every time, . It’s disappointing to say that we feel that it has gone a bit downhill. The service is still friendly, but the menu and food quality has become pretty average. For example - crispy pork belly should be crisp not flabby, the battered fish stodgy. The competition eg George and Dragon at Cley, is now much better.

Just finished a 3 night stay at this excellent pub/restaurant with rooms. Service throughout our stay was exceptional! We read very good reviews about the restaurant and were not disappointed - so much so we ate our 3 dinners in the restaurant which included a 'local food heroes' menu on the Tuesday evening. Excellent wine (by the glass) list, all reasonably priced which was very welcome. Breakfasts were delicious too and made to order. We stayed in the White Room (one of only 6) which was nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed and quality linens.

Went for Sunday dinner. The staff were lovely and very helpful however the food wasn't so great -roast potatoes were so tough we could not cut them and there no fresh vegetables other than a few roasted ones and a bit of kale. Everything was very salty too. £23 for the sirloin roast and £18 for the veggie roast so expected a bit more to be honest. Also not the greatest kids menu. Haddock and chips, cheesy pasta or roast chicken from what I remember. Choose the £8 pasta which was literally pasta tubes and cheese sauce (maybe a bit of garlic bread and some veg too would be nice). Overpriced for what is was I thought.

Discrepancy regarding Sunday menu advertised on website and offered in restaurant. On website 2/3 course £28/£34 per person. Menu provided in restaurant didn’t have this option. Asked member of staff tending table and advised this was no longer offered. Website needs to be updated.

Having eaten at The Wiveton Bell on two previous occasions we stayed here for the food and were not disappointed. It was excellent. The room was fine and the under-floor heating in the shower room much appreciated. However the bedroom was cold on arrival and we found that the electric radiator was not even plugged in, let alone turned on! A jar contained one packet of two biscuits and this was never replenished. We had to ask for a hairdryer.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Wiveton Bell. The food both nights was excellent. The menu was varied and imaginative - we both particularly enjoyed the pheasant although the Sunday roast was also delicious. The service was brilliant; so friendly and helpful. We stayed in the garden room, one of the ‘best’ rooms, which was on two levels and really lovely but, be warned, the bedroom ceiling has a lot of low points so you have to mind your head! There is a gorgeous huge bath.

We stayed at The Wiveton Bell for 3 nights last week (3 nights for 2 offer) We had the Starlight Room with breakfast, and had dinner in the pub once. Room, food and staff faultless, 5* all round. Connor deserves a special mention for making us feel so welcome on our (rather late) arrival. In fact, I really hope the Chestnut Group appreciates what an asset their staff here are, and gives them the credit they deserve. We will most definitely return.

Lovely cosy country pub, with really amazing food and excellent service. I’d say the only thing that spoilt it was the piped music - American country/rock music - seemed quite at odds with the decor and ambiance.

Not a lot of choice, too fancy food not cooked brilliantly, over priced. The pub needs to serve more traditional pub fare. Service not great, we were forgotten about on numerous occasions during our sitting.

Didn't have any food here so can't comment, Had a couple of drinks prices a little expensive but service was good and friendly There's mooring outside which is £10 but £5 redeamable if you order food. Would recommend this pub especially if you boating

We know this part of Norfolk very well as a holiday spot. We have been coming to the Victoria on and off for years. It is now a hotel that serves lunch and dinner NOT a pub. We booked Sunday dinner and I was happy to find that despite an 8pm. table there was still roast beef available. It was delicious 😋! Good portion of medium rare sirloin accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, a fine Yorkshire pudding, a good assortment of vegetables and cauliflower cheese. A few years back I rated a bunch of places local to home and I think the Victoria would have only been beaten by Cliveden We did have room for pudding and thank goodness we did. The rice pudding was spectacular! Unusual but inspirational flavours. The staff were happy and attentive. We took our well behaved dog and saw a couple of others in the restaurant. We chose to come here as it’s dog friendly. Perhaps ask for a quiet table if you’d prefer not to be around dogs when you eat. Overall highly recommended and excellent value. Thanks all.

Great staff, amazing views, nice range of beers. They continue to do a great job on the pier, we are so lucky to have it. It's a treasure that has been beautifully maintained.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden. There was a choice of 4 roast meats and a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The cost was also very reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere.
