Didn't have any food here so can't comment, Had a couple of drinks prices a little expensive but service was good and friendly There's mooring outside which is £10 but £5 redeamable if you order food. Would recommend this pub especially if you boating

Really lovely pub, superb location. Very unlikely to return sadly because they think charging £3.20 for half a lemonade is reasonable, i do not!. We sat on the tables by the water admiring the paddle boat moored next door. Watched fishermen, and boats cruising and rowing past and enjoyed an hour catching up with friends in the sun. The staff really friendly and polite. There were towels, water bowls and a (sadly empty) treats bowl for dogs. I recommend if it is within your budget.

A fab meal at a great venue. Our waitresses Jo and Millie were very attentive. The food was fab - recommend the Seabass which was delicious - friends had the sirloin steak and fish and chips and lasagne - all cooked to perfection by chef Jordan. Special mention to Chloe who kept the drinks flowing - fab evening - thanks team Swan!

Nothing positive to say , this is now our fourth bad experience in the swan , each time we have made excuses for bad food and extremely slow service not to mention standing at bar for 25mins being ignored while one bar tender tries to make 6 coffees I can only think they want holiday makers and not us local as they don’t plan on getting return customer

I will start by saying, we have eaten in this establishment several times over the past 14 years or so!! Myself and my partner were not really that impressed with the food, neither the service we received!!! But, we always gave it another chance!! Now........ we booked an evening table, this was last week, what a surprise, a very pleasant surprise may I add!! We had lovely, smiling table service, amazing starters, main course was absolutely delicious, finished with a superb desert!!! Drinks were not to bad either!!! Well done Emma and team, you are turning this beautiful landmark back to how it should be. Keep up the good work, lots to do going forward, but you are proving you will get there, we can also see you are very dedicated and giving it your all......... We will definitely see you again soon, supporting local business. Kindest, Clay and Clare......

Arrived at about 5PM and waited for about 2-3 minutes to be served but instead the person behind the bar walked off. 3-4 members of staff stood around talking whilst we had been waiting there looking for a menu carried on regardless. Bar person returned looked at us and proceeded to put bottlea of wine in the fridge, then walked off to the other 4 staff. We left again, having never seen a menu or had so much as a 'be with you in a moment'. We felt very unwelcomed and will never return. Management has changed recently so the previous reviews should be marked as archived and not applicable now.

It was dreadful. Slow service, I originally asked if I could order at the bar to be told it was full table service but no one came. So I then queued at the wait here to be seated sign. Was ignored several times by a male waiter on duty, eventually a different chap came over. I said I already had a seat but wanted to order. He said come to the bar. I ordered various coffees & sandwiches which 30+ minutes later had not arrived so went back to the bar to find out why 🤷♀️ apologies were given & coffee prices refunded but told it usually takes 30 minutes for food to arrive which I replied well it should be served now then! Coffee was nice, sandwich nice but the 24 chips was very stingy considering the charge of £11.50 for a sandwich & chips! Definitely will not be recommending!

We arrived at The Swan Inn by boat, and it was a great experience from the start. The atmosphere was fantastic—really relaxed and welcoming. The food was good too, with plenty of tasty options on the menu. I opted for the lasagne, everything was fresh and well-prepared. Overall, it’s a great spot to stop by, especially if you’re arriving by boat. We’ll definitely visit again.

Unfortunately they had not reserved our booking for 20 people and said they were too busy to reply to ann enquiry email even though we’d given 5 weeks notice. They wouldn’t honour the booking even though their tables were empty nor did they apologise. So we took our business to the New Inn who were wonderful and the food was excellent. Unfortunately there seems to be an enduring issue with staff and service here.

Up The Swanee How very disappointing this establishment is! A few months ago we were in the area and wanted a Sunday roast so we drove a few miles to the Swan as it used to be a pub I liked. We had a lot of trouble parking but eventually got there. We waited to be seated for about ten minutes. Many members of staff walked past and not one gave us eye contact. I gave up and went to the bar. Again, I did not get eye contact for about 5 minutes. Please bear in mind there was hardly anyone in the pub at this time. We eventually sat down but after 15 minutes no one took our order so we had to leave, absolutely starving. We informed them we were leaving as we had had terrible service and they did not do anything to persuade us to stay. We went in the height of summer for a drink and were told “you can’t sit outside as we are doing maintenance works in the garden” this is the major selling point of this pub as it overlooks the broads. We had to leave again. Thinking we may have been unlucky the last times we went we decided to give it another try last week. There was hardly anyone in there and only two people with drinks outside. There was a sign on the bar “due to circumstances beyond our control we can only serve food to people who have made bookings” I asked the bartender what this meant to which he replied: “we have some large bookings coming in later so we can’t serve food.” Now I’m not a business expert by any means but if that really is the case then possibly serve food UNTIL they arrive or serve a limited menu - don’t turn away paying customers! Is it so hard to heat up a soup or slap together a sandwich? The location is PERFECT, the building is lovely so why turn people away and give yourself a bad reputation? We won’t be going again.

Colleague arranged for 20 of us to eat at The Swan and made a booking 5 weeks ago for us to eat there today & confirmation was received by email stating that this had been booked. Arrived as agreed at 17.00 only to be told that the email sent back from The Swan was an automated reply and as they were short staffed they didn’t have the time to let us know they couldn’t cater for such a large party! Even though there was only 14 of us in the end, they still wouldn’t agree to prepare any meals for us and turned us away. Dreadful treatment would definitely NOT recommend, glad we rang The Inn, just up the road who were only too pleased to fit us in at very short notice! As for The Swan none of us will be returning or recommending!

Entirely agree with the previous review on lack of staff. Hoped to get a meal on a sunday visit only for a sign saying no meals unless pre booked.waiting time for a drink absolutely ridiculous. Called again after a day out on the thursday to another board on entry advising only catering for pre booked meals. Queued for a drink at the same time as a group of around 40 people who all congregated at the bar. Bar staff taking one drink order at a time, others not in the group were getting impatient and some left, one got served but attention then back on the large group, ignoring others. We left again as it just seemed disorganised and far too few staff to cope Definately need to sort staff issues out fast. Good location but let down by demand exceeding capability. I would recommend check in advance before trying to eat on the off chance.

The Swan Inn in Horning is a true gem nestled along the River Bure. One of its standout features is the boatside mooring, making it a perfect spot for those arriving by boat. The outside area is delightful, offering an ideal place to relax and watch the boats glide by while soaking in the serene atmosphere. Inside, the pub has a charming rustic look, with wooden beams and cozy nooks that make you feel right at home. The interior is steeped in history, with pots of stairs leading to different levels, adding to its unique character. Whether you're there for a pint or a hearty meal, The Swan Inn offers a memorable experience that beautifully captures the essence of Norfolk.

Oh dear, where to start. I have been using this place on a fairly regular basis for the last 2 years since moving g to the area, previously I found the service to be excellent, staff friendly, Tracey the manager always nice and Jo very good too, however since April this place has got worse and worse. Young staff being left to it, I asked where the Manager was to be told she had left and at first no manager in place, lots of assistant managers all being in charge but doing nothing. Food quality gone downhill and service was atrocious with long waits, some young guy called Jai rude and very poor service. The assistant manager Jordan is slow, lazy, and rude, I gave also witnessed poor behaviour towards young team members, some other assistant who U don’t know his name, quite tall is rude and always smells like he has been drinking. Have witnessed bullying and young staff being spoken to atrociously by managers on several occasions. Thought things would look up when a new manager started but actually got worse- Emma, I went in one evening and she sat getting completely drunk with a member of staff, I went in the following day and was going to complain in person but no surprise said manager had phoned in sick, I also witnessed this woman picking on a young girl who quite frankly was one of the few staff who was actually working hard and doing her best, I have been served by her before and she is always very pleasant, she also ridiculed her in front of other team members- disgusting behaviour. I went in again recently and service even worse, chaotic and not serving anyone even a drink unless booked. The food is terrible, small portions and very slow service, in fact service is almost nonexistent. Sadly I will not be coming back the attitude of this manager stinks, she is trying to be pally with locals but cares nothing for her staff, is lazy and clearly not interested in ALL the customers who go in spending their hard earned money.

Staff lovely , told us it would be 30 mins wait which was ok as we were taking in the view and company..so we didn’t mind. Bedroom was clean and so was the bathroom.. bed was very comfortable, room 4 has a noisy fan and we made the manager aware.. so take note who stays in this room.. Gluten free breakfast was non existent.. they didn’t have any gf bread in stock, no gf sausages , it’s 2024 for gods sake.. the chef /manager was standing next to the young lady that served us and he didn’t even offer to make an omelet or anything , all we were offered was beef brisket and gravy!!! SFOR BREAKFAST .. he was so UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNHELPFUL.. he was a total let down compared with all the other lovely friendly professional staff .. he needs to be trained or fired..!! Such a let down. They offer a big menu for dinner so I feel that a lot comes from brakes .. shame really. But a lovely village and on the whole I would stay again but go somewhere else for breakfast!

We often visit The Swan all year as we live in the area. We called in for a drink on Sunday 1st September. We were served quickly & very politely as usual & took our drinks outside to enjoy the good weather. I went back to the bar after about 30 mins to got more drinks & I was amazed to be told that drinks were only boring served to people who had booked a table. When I questioned this, the Gentleman (who was quite abrupt which then made a bad situation even worse), told me that 4 staff had called in sick (very unfortunate if it was true), but I really don’t understand that if you can serve drinks to a table then it’s even easier to pour & hand over just two drinks at the bar. To say we were disappointed is an understatement, the level of customer service was very poor when I asked if I could just have the two drinks. As I said before, we often use The Swan, eat there regularly & often take others with us & always recommend it. Not any more unfortunately. As I left, a large group of people we’re walking in to get drinks, I wished them good luck & explained that they weren’t serving drinks to non diners, they were as surprised as me & said they’d go somewhere else as we certainly did. Not a good move on your part The Swan, you need to look into this & I’d like to hear your response please!! Graham.

We then waited & waited for the waiter to take our plates & order afters, but the waiter never came back so we paid and left. The restaurant was not particularly busy & I'm surprised at the lack of attentiveness of the waiter & lack of service. Service needs to improve!!

We stayed the night for a family birthday. We didn't eat at the restaurant and after trying to order drinks which took 35 mins just to get to drinks that was the correct decision. The hotel room was stunning and very clean. Couldn't have asked more from hotel stay and the check in time of 3pm and check out of 12pm was brilliant. Would recommend the hotel stay. As for breakfast again low on staff. This meant waiting 15 mins before giving a table and finding out most items on the menu weren't available. One chef in the restaurant and one waiter wasn't enough staff needed. Quite poor although they did their best. Hopefully, next high season they get more trained staff as they did have a notice to warn guests of the pub. Unfortunately for us it did ruin its lovely pub, beautiful location and food.

Really disappointed upon our visit here today. We travel a lot and visit the vintage inns chain frequently. Usually, we find the pubs to be very warm and welcoming with good food! But not today. The website booking service showed a table available for 4.15pm, my husband tried to book it but kept getting an error message. So we made the journey and hoped we could be seated for dinner when we got there. I realise this was a little ambitious on a bank holiday Sunday. When we arrived we found the pub to be fairly quiet with lots of empty tables. We asked for a table and was told no and that they ere serving online booking only. We explained the situation re trying to book and that it did show as available. The manager came over and refused again, despite all the empty tables, and said that they had closed the online booking system today. After we left, we checked the website and found lots more tables available from half hour later onwards that did allow you to book. Unsure why we were told they had closed the online system and also why we were told no when in half hour they had space!? We could have booked this and came back but at this point we couldn’t be bothered! Such a shame as it is seems reading lots of recent reviews the pub itself is lovely but the service is poor. Which we can agree with based on today’s experience!

Absolutely nothing was great about this visit apart from the apology as we were leaving from the young male member of your bar staff… he was apologising for the appalling service we had encountered and for the quite frankly rude and shocking behaviour of the male manager who had been ‘serving’ us. This man is the absolute worst person you could have in this position, not only was he scruffy and miserable but he argued with us when we complained that we had been waiting almost an hour for our food. It was clear that the kitchen had forgotten our order. When it did eventually arrive at our table, long after others who had arrived after us had been served, we were told my husbands meal would have to be revoked as the chef wasn’t happy with it… but he would knock it off the bill! So no compensation for the fact we’d been sat for an hour eating for our food and when we asked what else he would do to compensate for the poor service and the fact we were eating so late and having to wait for main course to arrive he just started arguing with us and shouting.I come from Horning, I don’t live there anymore but I frequently visit as we still own a boat business in the village. In any event the food was unappetising and the mouthful of salad I had tasted stale anyway. So sad that what once used to be a lovely village pub has been ruined by poor staff attitudes. I’ll never return.

Another plus point is that the car park is free to customers, just register your car on the monitor in the bar. That saves you a few pounds. We booked the swan inn for my birthday on the 6th august, we booked the table for 4 people at 19:30. When we arrived there was no beer appently there was something wrong with the pumps so they couldn't pour any beer? once we sat down we had a look at the menu, We all had to change our meal because they either didnt have it or it wasnt meant to be on the menu. The service was very very slow, staff were talking behind the bar and were also on their phones, when our starters came i had a hair in my food, i said to the server about this and she quickly took it away and the starter was taken the bill. When the mains came out the food wasnt great. Very small portion sizes, my macaroni and cheese tasted like a ready meal, my friends lasagna was burnt, the chips and fries were terrible. I would not he returning and I definitely wont recommend. If i was you, I would go to the new inn just down the road. Food, customer service, atmosphere is so much better.

The Swan Inn is a nice little pub that does food with mooring directly on the broad. However currently the quayside is closed for repair (August 2024) but we moored up down the river a ways and walked up. We had booked a table for Sunday lunch and that was lucky because other people queuing up to get in when it opened were turned away for food without a booking as they were full. Food was marvellous, and although my order came out wrong this was quickly rectified and £10 knocked off the bill without even asking for it. The pudding was very slow coming out but every single thing was made fresh and cooked on site and definitely worth waiting for. 10/10 recommend the chorizo nibbles and olives. TLDR: food great, pub busy, service slow paced

Very disappointing. Lunch at the Swan Inn and a trip on the Mississippi boat was booked for our wedding anniversary. It’s a day trip we’ve been wanting to do for a while and was booked as a treat. Service was v poor. A lot of confusion regarding what was available and we both had to change our first choices from the menu. My husband’s steak sandwich was mostly inedible and his chips were cold. My fish cakes looked and tasted like they had been refried several times. It then took 20 minutes to get the manager to steak with us. We didn’t pay for our meal but that did not compensate for our day being completely spoiled.

Booked a table and arrived a little early. As you walk in there is a sign that states "wait to be seated" stood waiting for a good 5 minutes while 2 members of staff completely ignored myself and my husband. When we approached a member of staff they then couldn't find us a table in their seemingly empty pub. From walking in to being seated took roughly 10 minutes. Half the pumps on the beers were not working either. Left without ordering due to the piss poor service.

AVOID ! We have just spent 4 amazing nights on the Norfolk Broads. We have spent each night mooring up, meeting lovely people and visiting the lovely pubs along the broads. Every pub was lovely with their own personality, menus and beers. On our last night our boat had to be returned the following morning in Horning. We moored up at Ferry Marine ready for our morning departure and choose to drive down to The Swan at Horning for something nice to eat as we had passed it a few times on the river and thought it was in an amazing location looking over the river. It is an amazing location but does not deserve or should represent the Broads. It was a complete shambles. I asked for a menu and was told by the bar staff - they were not serving food now as the restaurant staff were all inexperienced. This was 7.30 pm - peek season 1st August 2024 ! My wife and I bought a drink and went out to the amazing garden looking over the Broads by the Yacht Club. The grassed area over looking the broads was perfect but empty of customers. Every table was full of dirty plates and dirty glasses. We were the only ones there and had to clear or own table. Not one table was clear. Totally disgusting !!!!! You do not deserve to have the location you have ! Everything about the broads was totally amazing - you The Swan Pub at Horning ARE A DISGRACE TO THE NOFOLK BROADS !

Sadly it’s been let down by the halfwit they call a manager, more incompetent than Basil Fawlty, food really average, only saving grace is Millie, she was excellent and would make a far better manager, she was kind and polite, sadly she spent most of the day apologising for the Incompetent manager who liked to be rude to customers and hide away from customers!

I had a nice pub lunch here. The waiter serving us was very nice and friendly. The food itself was very nice. However, my main was brought out much later than everyone else's in my group. By the time I was starting, some others had practically finished. I ordered a shredded duck and hoisin sauce pizza as I'd never seen this before in any restaurant or pizzeria I'd been to. It was very nice, when it eventually arrived, and was certainly unique. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their mains and those that had deserts enjoyed them. Our waiter disappeared when we were paying but that didn't really matter.

Only went in for a drink this time. Have been many times before on our annual boating holiday for dinner. However, beer was quite flat and the second was even worse. Mentioned to barmaid who just shrugged her shoulders, without comment. Will not return next year.

Not a great experience overall. Upon entering the pub it was obvious that it was understaffed as there were countless tables with empty glasses/plates left on them along with a section of the bar being designated for empties. We were sat at our table promptly, however, it took an age to get served at the bar for drinks despite the pub being quite empty. The bar staff seemed really inexperienced and there didn't appear to be much order with what order the drinks were served (bar, then table orders were just picked up randomly). Anyway, we got some drinks and ordered food; 3 of us ordered the same, CHICKEN and vegetable curry (note it said chicken on the menu). Food comes out in a reasonable time - the food was really tasty, hot and a decent portion side, however, there was no chicken. We waited for the waiting staff to come and do the obligatory check to see if our food was ok; when this didn't happen after 10 minutes I went to discuss with a member of staff. A short time later, someone else came to ask what the issue was, which we repeated, none of the 3 chicken curries had chicken in them. He agreed then went off, seemingly trying to resolve the issue. Again, we sat and waited assuming he would be back very shortly with an update, however, 10 minutes passed with no update. Again I went to ask the gentleman what was going on a d he looked as if he hadn't seen me before and said he would "chase it up" which didn't leave us with any more information. Wanting a solution, we asked what they were going to do about it and we were told that some "chicken had been put on" which wasn't acceptable. Rather than try to resolve the issue, the assistant manager (same person) became really defensive and lied about what he had said previously, all whilst trying to serve people at the bar (rather than attending to our issue). After some time arguing, the chef came out who was another assistant manager and within 2 minutes had resolved the issue; we would like to thank Jordan for going above and beyond to sort our issue. Unfortunately the experience has put me and my family from going back there; quite frankly the pub doesn't deserve our hard earned money and there are other pubs in the area which valued our custom so much more. In summary, go to the New Inn further down the road.

Travelled here today based on good reviews. No mobile signal so was unable, as invited, to be my own waiter and order my food online, collect my own cutlery and serve our food when it was ready. So in an old school kinda way, went to the bar to order to be met with sign saying "no drinks only orders being taken". Shame for those who want a drink in this lovely setting but I guess tables are at a premium with high season and sunny weather. Long queue had formed and when I finally got to the bar was told by a bar person who really didn't want to be there. "Nah, Not serving food at the moment." Too hot in the kitchen? Chef has run off? Power Cut? Brexit? New government? Can't be bothered? No. No explanation. So ordered drinks while thought of where else to go. And in fact the opposite of their "no drinks only orders being taken" was true, only drinks orders were being taken. So a pub garden in a beautiful setting, at the height of summer, on a brilliant day and packed with potential diners all being turned away at lunchtime. Disappointing to say the least and not a very good welcome for the many people from all over the UK who have negotiated the waterways to have to go elsewhere. Shambles.

Very poor! We were in the dining area, 2 adults and 2 children. Waiting along time to be offered a drink after being given menu's. Then starters came out with kids meals eventually! My prawn cocktail had stale bread with no butter and minimal praws and lettuce thown on plate. Asked for fresh bread which took ages to come. Boys chips were like snapping twigs. Girls tomato pasta was tasteless and swimming in sauce. Glasses for water were all dirty. Not great! Waiting ages for mains and all we can here is people complaining. Starter plates still on table and no sign of waitress to order a drink. About to ask for manager to call it all off as Waiting so long. Mains came out though with dirty plates still on table. We complained to person who rolled eyes and said see what we can do and walked off. I asked for medium steak, it was over well done and black. Wife had fish cakes which looked like had been pounded with a mallet. Boy then walks in with a tray of 2 drinks we ordered 20 mins ago. I could no longer take it and asked him to get manager. Manager was very apologetic as I reeled off all the issues. She said she is aware of all issues and rude staff and of the poor food and has been there a week in new position and will turn it around. Good Luck! She waived bill for the poor experience and off we went to McDonalds. Do not be fooled by lovely setting of pub or go for a special meal. You will be very disappointed!

We have been using this pub for years without issue but yesterday we went for just a drink as the food service was closed until the evening. We were shouted at at by a female member of staff because we were about to sit at a table that was reserved for food even though no food was being served for 2 hours and they’re wasn’t a reserved sign displayed. The same female staff member was then seen walking off with a very large glass of wine looking particularly unprofessional and even though there was a large queue of customers at the bar. While waiting to be served another female member of staff commandeered one of the bar staff to jump the queue to get herself and a friend their drinks. No wonder there were so few customers on a sunny warm day in the summer holidays they don’t deserve them. When we did eventually get served the cost was extortionate for 3 drinks They are other pubs in Horning who are friendly and welcoming and I’d advise others to try them first and give the Swan a wide birth

Beautiful place inside and out. Unfortunately spoilt by the really slow service. Half way through finally getting served after 14 minutes queueing barman decided to take a call and disappear for 5 minutes. Hopefully caught on n off night and will definitely try again. Came back to try again and every beer on draft was off! Had to have bottles which made it very very expensive. 🤦🏼♂️

We both had Roasts, l had Turkey and my partner the Veggie Wellington, they were fab everything hot and tasty, really welI cooked. l asked for lots of gravy and got 2 jugs! We also had puds, Mini crumble and pot of tea, Sticky toffee pud with custard for partner also yum yum. I would like to mention our server Lilly, she was great, friendly, attentive and got everything right, not always easy when you're rushed off your feet. The organisation in this place is an absolute shambles. I would be ashamed to be in charge of this place AND I would treat my customers with a damn sight more respect! Arrived as a party of 5 with a booking from a week ago to find people queuing out of the door past the sign 'wait here to be seated'. For 5 minutes NO ONE WAS SEATED although 75% of the tables were empty. Eventually side-stepped the queue - because most were waiting for the bar, and asked a member of staff whether we needed to wait there..... only to be taken straight to our table - we could have waited there another 20 minutes if we hadn't taken the initiative. We ordered drinks and waited 15 minutes for them to arrive. We ordered food and AFTER 45 MINUTES waiting finally asked where it was. It started arriving 60 minutes after we ordered it, and the final meal landed 20 minutes later. Frankly unbelievable to think that they think a 60 minute wait for the first meal is reasonable AND a 20 minute wait for the final meal to arrive after that! With each meal arriving (they arrived in 3 deliveries 10 minutes apart) we got a bleated half hearted 'sorry for the delay' while we watched other people order after us and receive their meals before us. Finally when we left, having eaten 3 satisfactory meals and 2 very very average meals - AN HOUR later than we should have - we paid and left - for the last time. Not a word of genuine recognition of the fact that their incompetence from front of house through to the kitchen spoiled our family outing. And not a hint of an attempt to make us want to come back. This place deserves its 3.5 trip advisor rating - it is only 3.5 on its best day. P.S. I had the burger they use in their Trip Advisor picture. Mine came with half the portion of chips shown and no salad except a solitary mini pickle sitting between the burger and the chip-pot

Maybe we hit a bad day, but it was all organised inefficiently. The waitress took our orders, but 2 of our group of 5 received the wrong meal. And indeed the next table also was served two incorrect meals. Meals were not served at the same time. One person was served and finished eating before others even received the meal, and the desserts that my husband and I ordered never arrived and so on. We got the luncheon special, so even though we never got our dessert, we were still charged the full price. Food was OK, ie. Pub food. We later realised a tourist bus had arrived so we think that was what caused all the confusion with orders. But the upshot is we wouldn't go back there again. There is another pub in town with a better reputation.

We attended on Sunday 30th June . The food was very nice and tasty although not extremely hot . I ordered a low alcohol cider as I was driving bur was served an alcohol drink and didn’t notice until after I started drinking. I know it sounds petty but combined salt and pepper pot was useless. The bottom half had sea salt when it should have been pepper corns and the top half had pepper corns Shen it should have been table salt.,as a result after putting salt on my meal I tried shaking the pot for pepper and more salt consequently came from the bottom so I ended up with more salt on my meal than I wanted which naturally spoiled my meal. When I mentioned it to the waitress I don’t remember her apologies but maybe she did and so I won’t make a big issue about that. However she said that lots of people had commented on that problem. Well if lots of people have commented then why hasn’t the issue been resolved..service good but extremely slow .

Despite entering my car registration number in the system on entering the Swan Inn, I have received a very unpleasant and expensive parking charge from Euro Car Parks for 'no valid Pay and display/permit was purchased' - £60 if I pay within 14 days, £100 if I don't. It doesn't mention the system of logging your reg number on entry. So not worth the visit! The Swan Inn replied to the above review to say that if I contact them they will cancel the parking charge. The fact is that I have already contacted them and they haven't replied. I arrive for a nice meal out. I park in the car park and follow follow the instructions regarding parking, which includes entering my reg number in a computer at the pub. Then a week or so later I receive an unpleasant and upsetting parking charge. I spend time appealing this charge, but nearly 3 weeks later haven't had a reply to that from Euro Car Parks. I email the Swan Inn, and haven't had a reply from them. I am now going to try to telephone them. Why would I ever want to go through this again? It's a never-again for me.

Lovely food... bit busy and sitting outside meant ordering behind long queue at the bar...it was my mum's 90th birthday 🎂 We had booked a table but she wanted to sit outside. Long wait. Not a lot of vegetarian options however, the two veggie meal were gorgeous...aubergine gratin was so tasty and the vegan vegetable coconut curry lovely. Terrible service. One of the bar staff was unnecessarily rude and confrontational when asked to swap egg for something else with the gammon. Was told we would have to pay extra. On a week day lunch the wait for food was over an hour, when asked to cancel the order one of the managers was very rude and abrasive. Others were cancelling their food orders because the wait was so long, no warning was given when ordering. Was told the wait for mains would be half an hour, after waiting over an hour for starters. When the food did come it was mediocre. Real staff issues. On the plus side one of the barmaids and another manager was reasonable and polite, shame two of them weren't. Won't be back.

Been here a few times for dinner- really great food and a lovely atmosphere. The soup is always a must! Fish dishes are always lovely as well and they have a good selection for meat and non-meat eaters. Service can be a little slow when busy but fine if you’re having a nice leisurely dinner. The only reason I’ve given 4 instead of 5 as they no longer have a “bar” area where you can sit and have a drink. It’s seems it’s all food tables in the last year or so- it was nice to sit and have a drink before/after dinner. Recommended for dinner and heard they do good Sunday roasts

Not a lot of choice, too fancy food not cooked brilliantly, over priced. The pub needs to serve more traditional pub fare. Service not great, we were forgotten about on numerous occasions during our sitting.

We know this part of Norfolk very well as a holiday spot. We have been coming to the Victoria on and off for years. It is now a hotel that serves lunch and dinner NOT a pub. We booked Sunday dinner and I was happy to find that despite an 8pm. table there was still roast beef available. It was delicious 😋! Good portion of medium rare sirloin accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, a fine Yorkshire pudding, a good assortment of vegetables and cauliflower cheese. A few years back I rated a bunch of places local to home and I think the Victoria would have only been beaten by Cliveden We did have room for pudding and thank goodness we did. The rice pudding was spectacular! Unusual but inspirational flavours. The staff were happy and attentive. We took our well behaved dog and saw a couple of others in the restaurant. We chose to come here as it’s dog friendly. Perhaps ask for a quiet table if you’d prefer not to be around dogs when you eat. Overall highly recommended and excellent value. Thanks all.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden. There was a choice of 4 roast meats and a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The cost was also very reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere.
