My wife and I along with our friends John and Lisa moored up at The Ferry Inn Horning and thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks. John in particular was very impressed with his beef stew and dumpling.

Me and my husband popped in today for a lunchtime meal and had beef and ale pie and a chicken pie with mash and seasonal veg. Reminded me of meals on wheels, seasonal veg was sweetcorn pieces, peas and green beens like you get in a can, pies overcooked with next to nothing inside and mash not up to much with lumpy gravy. Left before anyone had come to clear out plates and not likely to go back for food as was no way worth £16 a plate. Having said that I like sitting out there in the spring/summer for a drink but as a local there are far better places to eat.

Have come here a for a number of years, and this wonderful pub never fails to impress. The owner has made our family so welcome. Great food and music, especially on a Thursday night. And if you want to see the northern lights give this a try, it will give Norway a run fun it's money. Best pub full stop. 👌

This was always our first port of call when boating on the broads and we always looked forward to stopping for dinner on our first night. However, the pub has changed a lot since our last trip and not for the better in my view. The menu has changed dramatically and classics we used to enjoy here such as fish & chips, pizza, ribs are no longer available and have been replaced by dishes like Rissotto. The food we had was fine, but it was not what we were expecting when we decided to come here in the first place. We were also met with a 'Do you really have to sit there? wouldn't you rather sit over here' from the lady behind the bar, when we chose to sit in a booth. Regretfully, this will probably be the last time we stop here on our trips, which is a shame.

This pub has really gone down hill. Shame as it has so much potential. The food was terrible, the beef was under cooked, hairs on the Yorkshire puddings and some of the staff were rude.

Our family booked and went for my parents 60th wedding anniversary, we had to laugh or we would have cried, starters served at different times, mix up with main meals meant I didn’t get one! Untrained staff and a front of house manager who didn’t care one bit. Owner spoke to my very disappointed parents and did give a discount, but the day was spoilt. Place and toilets were filthy. Absolutely disgusting we will never step foot in what was once a really lovely place.

Absolutely lovely place. Stopped for lunch and liked it so much we came back and moored overnight. Sean was especially fantastic in making us feel really welcome and such a great personality that really helped build confidence on that first mooring. Already planning our trip on the Broads next year and the ferry inn will definitely be on our must stay list. Thank you again.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We had hired a boat on the Broads for a few days and having passed it earlier in the day, we had decided to moor up at The Ferry Inn for the night and have a meal. The mooring fee is £20 for the night but if you are having a meal, this is then discounted off the price of your food so is essentially free. The staff were friendly and helpful and quick to point out the discount paying for the mooring gave to the food. They have a good selection of drinks to suit every palette. I went for the dark fruit cider (I can't remember if it was blackberry or blackcurrant) and her indoors went for rhubarb and ginger gin and tonic. I went for the mixed grill and my other half went for the Lasagne. We didn't have long to wait for the food to arrive. They were decent sized portions, well presented and extremely tasty. Rather than simply tell you how we would happily go again, we were so impressed that we actually went back the following night. One final plus is the friendly local wildlife. First you have the sound of the Bitterns booming away, then you have the friendly Swan that joins you for breakfast. The icing on the cake is the heron that struts up and down outside the pub and even enjoys hopping onto the odd boat or two for selfies.

We have been to the Ferry Inn a few times over recent years. This time the food was exceptional; best crayfish sandwich I have ever had. The bread was super fresh and filling was amazing! The menu has clearly had a massive upgrade and everything that came out of the kitchen looked fab. Not the cheapest but definitely worth it for the quality. Great location too.

It's a fabulous river-side pub. but we may have been unlucky on the day, the roast potatoes were not as they should have been, they were tough to cut possibly overcooked, and the carrots were very hard, now other people may be happy but each to their own, on previous visits, there were two choices of gravy this time one, also no homemade steak and ale pie, or perhaps not visible, maybe we were just used to the previous cooks? so we were somewhat disappointed, just wish we could have been more positive .

Return visit after 30yrs since we had our last boating holiday. Heard it had been in administration then reopened. Had Sunday carvery which was ok ish. Starter of crayfish was lovely. However they ran out of beef on the carvery a good 30 mins before end of service. Not good. Surely any roast meats left over could be used next day in sandwiches. There is a large passing boat trade you would think a cold meat sandwich with chips works. ? Also the chef carving really did need to give his face a joy ride and smile. Would we eat here again ? Possibly not. Such a shame as the setting is lovely.

A lovely pub which we sailed past on the way to Wroxham. It was too busy to moor up at Wroxham so we retraced our steps, thinking of stopping at the Ferry Inn but worrying that we were too inexperienced to attempt mooring there. No problem - they have kindly gentlemen catching your ropes and teaching you how to reverse neatly into place. To moor there overnight was £20 but that came off our dinner bill. Dinner for all three of us was delicious; good helpings as well and the bar staff were really friendly. The inn had free wifi so our daughter was happy and she could even access it on the boat as we were moored so close. We sat outside in the beautiful weather (we luckily caught the one week of summer that I think the UK achieved!) having a relaxing drink and watching the boats and ducks float by. Idyllic.

We have been coming here for years, usually to meet up with friends in Horning for a drink and a meal. Saturday it was just the two of us. Waited that long at the bar whilst being ignored by staff, I was thinking of leaving, then having to repeat my drink order for two drinks three times. Decided to just have the drink outside and then go. Mooring man was outside moaning that the young lad whose job was to moor up for punters wasn’t good enough, didn’t like the language used. Tables full of empty glasses and staff roaming up and down without picking them up. What has happened to this great place, so disappointed

I was one of four diners (two couples) who visited The Ferry Inn at Horning on a Sunday for a meal. The car park is large and finding a place was no problem. On entering the inn, we asked for four drinks (2 beers and...

A very warm welcome. Great food with good clean facilities. Very helpful staff. We will return as that is what satisfied customers always do. Would recommend this place to everyone.

Assuming previous reviews were shared with staff at the time we can only assume they took the comments on board and swiftly acted on them. We had a lovely meal each, friendly service and a nice relaxed environment. Bonus for us was the little games...

We’ve been to the Ferry Inn a few times previously, and on our last visit, decided we would never go back, even though we holiday in Horning a lot. However, after reading a couple of positive reviews following a change of management, we thought it...

This used to be a regular visit for us seeing as it is walking distance. Despite all the comments in our visitors books we decided to give it another try as it is different ownership since we last visited. Clearly there is still a lot...

Unfortunately feels as though the business is geared towards making a quick penny from a captive audience and less focused on customer service and encouraging customers to return. There’s only so many times the benefit of the doubt can be given, I wouldn’t recommend wasting...

Visited the Ferry after a trip to How Hill. We chose the Ferry following other reviews on Trip Advisor. We arrived about 1 oclock and, naturally the pub was very busy. The service was excellent though and we did not have to wait very long...

nowhere near enough staff , one girl behind the bar could not cope . Invest in some staff and don't take your customers for granted because of your location.

Well what can I say, we came here 4 years ago and the food and service was exceptional , but today it had gone down hill so much, the food was more like a burger van standard, the children's meals came with mash potato and...

Not a lot of choice, too fancy food not cooked brilliantly, over priced. The pub needs to serve more traditional pub fare. Service not great, we were forgotten about on numerous occasions during our sitting.

Been here a few times for dinner- really great food and a lovely atmosphere. The soup is always a must! Fish dishes are always lovely as well and they have a good selection for meat and non-meat eaters. Service can be a little slow when busy but fine if you’re having a nice leisurely dinner. The only reason I’ve given 4 instead of 5 as they no longer have a “bar” area where you can sit and have a drink. It’s seems it’s all food tables in the last year or so- it was nice to sit and have a drink before/after dinner. Recommended for dinner and heard they do good Sunday roasts

We know this part of Norfolk very well as a holiday spot. We have been coming to the Victoria on and off for years. It is now a hotel that serves lunch and dinner NOT a pub. We booked Sunday dinner and I was happy to find that despite an 8pm. table there was still roast beef available. It was delicious 😋! Good portion of medium rare sirloin accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, a fine Yorkshire pudding, a good assortment of vegetables and cauliflower cheese. A few years back I rated a bunch of places local to home and I think the Victoria would have only been beaten by Cliveden We did have room for pudding and thank goodness we did. The rice pudding was spectacular! Unusual but inspirational flavours. The staff were happy and attentive. We took our well behaved dog and saw a couple of others in the restaurant. We chose to come here as it’s dog friendly. Perhaps ask for a quiet table if you’d prefer not to be around dogs when you eat. Overall highly recommended and excellent value. Thanks all.

Have popped in occasionally and had the most delicious pie and gravy. Was in the area Saturday and thought a lovely pie and gravy will go down a treat on such a cold day. Saturday luch time, no pies on the menu, just a very basic baguette, omlette, baked potato menu, really disappointed. Should have guessed, very sparse of dinners. Ordered the egg baguette, to be told a minute later 'we can't get hold of any eggs'. So all the omlettes were unavailable too. I've just been to a farmers market down the road that's full of eggs and pies! Cheese baguette ok, very cheap colesaw on side( sorry being really picky now). It has changed hands and don't believe the menu online, we won't be going back.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden. There was a choice of 4 roast meats and a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The cost was also very reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere.
