I have been to Flour & Bean since it opened. Today’s I had the toast and jam, although I wouldn’t class todays as worthly of the £3.50 price. I can’t believe that they think this is acceptable.

Went here for breakfast on Saturday and all 4 of us had large breakfasts. Unfortunately the quality of the food did not justify the £11 price tag. The food came out luke warm at best except for the hashbrown and sausages which were piping hot. The toast was not fresh and was incredibly dried out like it had been sat under a hot lamp for a while. Expected better when there is a popular burger van which does good breakfast competing just opposite.

I was doing some shopping in Lathams and thought I’d grab a quick meal to save cooking later. I had the large Sunday Gammon roast. If that was large then Small must be for a child. Not really gammon, more like sliced ham. The stuffing ball would have worked well being fired out of a small cannon, it was that hard. The roast potatoes, both of them were hard and burnt. There is a very good cafe in the shop closer to the bridge, I’d go there if I was you.

Do not go here for a bacon sandwich and pot of tea. For two people this will cost over £15.00 and what you get is very poor. The sandwich consisted of two thin pieces of bacon in thick bread with a hard crust and there was barely a scraping of butter in the middle of each slice. We were very disappointed. However I would like to say that the staff were very pleasant and seemed to be working very hard. The choice of background music was terrible and did not seem to suit the typical age of customer. We will not be returning here.

Our drinks arrived 10 minutes later. He then took the order from the table behind us who ordered 2 full breakfast. After another 30 mins we finally got our food, the table next to us had received their order before us despite ordering 10 minutes later. My Italian Chicken & Mozzarella was just Italian Chicken no cheese, my partners Brie, bacon & cranberry was missing most of the Brie only showing rind.A female member of staff took them back and said it would be replaced, another member of staff said it did have cheese in it but it was rationed !!!! She also said she had made the 2nd Brie panninis herself or did I want a refund. we said we would wait but after another 20 mins we were still waiting, so I asked for a refund.Between my partner and I we have 82yrs in catering on a large scale in high class establishments, this cafe needs better appropriations of staff.

This week we left after half an hour as our order still had not been taken. The staff are very friendly and the food is good with ample portion size . They need someone just doing the drinks as this seems to be taking up most of the time. The girls clearing the tables cannot take orders and obviously cannot take drinks either to the tables . Me and my partner had a boat trip at Potter, so were looking for lunch. Unfortunately this proved to be disappointing, we wanted to get hot food only to be told there's no hot food available at the table whilst trying to order, a sign out front would have solved this issue. They were understaffed and they took a long time to take our order. Although the Flour and Beans cafe is said to close at 5pm and despite no apparent signs warning of an earlier closing time, we were turned around by a grumpy member of the coffee shop staff at 4.30pm as a previous customer (possibly the last) was leaving. So now I go to weatherspoons 8 times out of 10, but would go to fab more if they kept the 2 for 1 breakfast all the time instead of short periods, also free refills as my 2 coffees amounted to 1 as both cups had over 5cm of froth, good places tip this out and fill the cup with a small amount of froth.

O there’s who arrived after us were served before us. The next table to us was heaped with plates of discarded meals and cups. The floor was littered with pieces of bread and chips. I would guess a child had been eating there. After about 30 minutes the table was cleared. We were in the cafe for about an hour and in that time people were treading over the food on the floor. No attempt was made by the staff to clear the floor area, it was unsightly and a trip hazard.

My elderly mother and myself have been eating here for as long as i can remember, around five years could be longer. We especially love the ambient atmosphere and the friendly staff. We get good service here and we have a loyalty card for coffees. The cakes are simply divine, just how mum used to make 'em and very satisfying, large is an understatement but we seem to manage them. The same goes for the superb sausage rolls probably the finest in East Anglia, tasty and delicious. We can also recommend the superb range of breakfasts and lunch time meals including the daily specials. All are superb and excellent value. We regularly travel from Gorleston On Sea where this is another branch of this excellent cafe chain however, we have not visited the two other branches in Dereham or Fakenham. We love the deals and i believe you can purchase a drink, sandwich and a cake for less than £4 although i don't know if this offer is still on but it was at the Gorleston branch when we last visited, What we love about Potter Heigham is dining and taking afternoon tea by the river and here you can do just that. There is even an outdoor area with canopies for beautiful summer sunny days. Today, 8th July, we spoke with Lorraine the owner's wife and she was lovely to chat to telling us all about FAB. I think the name speaks for itself and it really is a FAB place to dine or just afternoon tea. We cannot recommend the sausage rolls enough they really are the finest around. Came here for lunch with my Mother and Daughter. Thought I would try the roast dinner as advertised for £8.50. A choice of beef or pork. Saw a few people with it around the restaurant. Didn’t look too bad. Had the pork dinner. The pork was two thin pieces of warmed up pork. All the veg was as hard as it would have been when taken off the vegetable patch. The gravy was just water with a dash of stock. I wouldn’t recommend here, and being local and not a holiday maker, I felt sorry for those holiday makers and elderly coach trips that would come in on a day trip. When I was eating mine I noticed and elderly couple who had left pretty much the whole plate of food before departing, they also had a roast. As well as other tables that were cleared from those who had a roast, so can safely say that way not me. Two mins down the road is a lovely pub offering a roast dinner. I will go there next time. I can’t fault the cheese scone as my mother had it although she said it was doughy.

I was the first customer of the day and while the flavour was rather good the bacon was cold, as were the over cooked fried eggs, lukewarm and hard tomato, warm beans and mushrooms, which were slightly underdone the hashbrown and sausage however were hot. This is a personal review and as in all things it is an individual opinion.

We have been here many times opver the years however recently updates, changes, new owners, certainly a new name has meant that it is now trying to punch above its weight. Aimed I suspect at the seasonal boat market its prices are somewhere around £1.50 to £2.00 per menu item above most local venues. This is a small cafe in a general store, not a restaurant. It did have it spot on before the changes, good honest food at a reasonable price. The food we had was at best average, some of which was cold, its certainly not going to hit my top ten local eateries list.

We decided to have breakfast before we started our journey home after a great week on the Broads. This restaurant is conveniently situated across the road from the boatyard at Potter Heigham. It gets busy especially in the height of the season.

Choice of food good, each time ive been food always hot and enjoyable - service at the till very good, not too long to wait and nice to have table service, a good mug of hot tea was great, I have found this cafe so much better than others that have been established longer, was very happy so will definately be using again.

Knowing Flour and Bean through their Fakenham branch, when in Potter Heigham we call in for a coffee and a snack. There is plenty to choose from, has that nice home made deal and is very good quality. To call it fast food would be an injustice, but the service is prompt and food served nice and hot.

We ordered scrambled eggs and a cheese scone. Scrambled eggs expensive at £4.25 but good scrambled eggs are worth paying for. These were not good scrambled eggs. Completely unseasoned and served on a stone cold plate, replete with bits of eggshell. We sent it back. Cheese scone stodgy and unpleasant. Top dollar prices for third rate food. They have something of a captive audience otherwise I can't imagine them surviving for long. I agree with another reviewer that the instore bakery is an excellent alternative.

Have been to Flour and Bean many times. They now have a vegan menu. Vegan Thai Burger and Chips. They also do Vegan Cheese if you want a jacket potato. Also have a selection of plant milks.

what a lovely Fish and Chip shop, front of house was a lovely friendly lady, Young lady at the till was obviously new and learning the tills, but what a lovely happy go lucky young lady she was. Explaining, she is new to the tills so please bare with her. Ordered our food, Traditional Cod and Chips, all nice and fresh and tasty, and nice size portions. Looking forward to going back to Well's later in the year for some more Fish and chips from here

Have popped in occasionally and had the most delicious pie and gravy. Was in the area Saturday and thought a lovely pie and gravy will go down a treat on such a cold day. Saturday luch time, no pies on the menu, just a very basic baguette, omlette, baked potato menu, really disappointed. Should have guessed, very sparse of dinners. Ordered the egg baguette, to be told a minute later 'we can't get hold of any eggs'. So all the omlettes were unavailable too. I've just been to a farmers market down the road that's full of eggs and pies! Cheese baguette ok, very cheap colesaw on side( sorry being really picky now). It has changed hands and don't believe the menu online, we won't be going back.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden. There was a choice of 4 roast meats and a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The cost was also very reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere.

Great staff, amazing views, nice range of beers. They continue to do a great job on the pier, we are so lucky to have it. It's a treasure that has been beautifully maintained.
