We have tried to eat here on two separate occasions. First we tried for lunch (around 13:30) on 01/04. Lots of signs advertising their fantastic food and plenty of diners with food at their table. Sadly it was not to be. No explanation as to why, but their kitchen was suddenly closed. Not to worry, these things happen. We’ll try again. So, at 19:30 on 03/04 we try again. A nice big sign outside stating that they serve food all day until 20:00. We approach the bar and are informed that they are not doing food. As we walked out we couldn’t help but notice the other people with menu’s approaching the bar to place orders. Perhaps they only serve food to the locals… Either way if you want food don’t bother trying The Kings Head, instead give No1 Fish and Chips a go. Unlike the Kings Head they seem to remember that they have a kitchen and the view is absolute cracking!

We came here for a meal before going to a show on Cromer Pier. We initially ordered and paid to then be told that 3 of the meals we had ordered they had run out of so we had to reorder. 3 of us had chicken roast dinners, what was served up was absolutely woeful. A tough chicken breast, overdone roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding so hard it could break your teeth and some peas and brown looking cabbage. On the menu states the roast should come with stuffing and a pig in blanket. When we asked what I believe was the manager (little dark haired chap in a waistcoat) he stated that they had run out and the chef gave us extra potatoes. When I pointed out they were awful he just stared at me and walked away, never to be seen again. Shocking management. In the end a nice girl called Daisy came to check on us and once we complained about the roasts she gave us a refund for these. She was the only shining light in an otherwise awful experience. I would definitely advise to eat anywhere other than here when in Cromer.

Booked in for dinner. When we arrived it was very busy (Saturday night so no surprise) told the staff we had a table booked but they couldn’t seem to find us but finally got seated. Their website mentioned cocktails but they couldn’t do them (I don’t know why) so I had a wine instead. The table of 4 next to us had a chair missing, so when the party arrived the manager tried to take one of our chairs for the party of 4 but he would get us a different chair?! Why he couldn’t just give them a chair without bothering us I don’t know. Food took 50 minutes to arrive and it was nothing special. My son’s food came out last and I’d ordered him a kids pizza… a member of staff said, “it’s a pizza baguette, it mentions that on the menu…” It didn’t say that on the kids or main menu. No surprises as my son didn’t eat it. I gave him some of my chips. Asked for a refund for the kids pizza (£6.50). Yes it was very busy but it’s not an excuse for the experience we had.

This has to go down as one of my worst meal experiences ever , and there have been a few . We waited 30 mins for food. My hunters chicken burger was luke warm, overcooked and hard, the bap was dry, chips luke warm and small portion . Battered fish was all batter and little fish , small leaf of lettuce , probably 2 or 3 days past its best. I very rarely complain but just got a shrug , no real apology , definitely no offer of a refund, did offer to cook it again decided not to risk it . From the look of the staff I was not the first to complain , avoid this one .

Don’t know if they have had a new person in the kitchen but if they keep delivering food like we had they will soon lose business. Definitely has changed hands as the Sunday lunch was poor. I had roast chicken, sadly sent it back twice as it didn't look cooked. Manager said that it is probed to 64c when it should be at least 75c, so, with that info I opted for the vegetarian option. This came with gravy over the lot, frozen roast potatoes, Carrots tasting odd, unseasoned cabbage, not homemade yorkshires, bullet peas. Couldn't eat it🤢.Very expensive for a farm foods freezer style dinner. Son had pie that looked a soggy mess and husband had a poor quality burger. Staff apologetic and agreeing with the poor meal standard. Shame as we use to rate it highly. Will not be returning...

My son had a burger, but the beefburger itself was more like a spam burger. When a staff member came to take the plates she didn't even ask how the food was. Shame but will not be eating there again.

I booked this restaurant after visiting many times before in spring/summer this year and last year. We were attending a show on the pier for my friends birthday, so booked here for dinner. WHAT A MISTAKE!! Arrived for our 530pm booking at 525pm, and the table wasn't ready, it was dirty and needed cleaning. Quickly resolved and we sat down to look at the menu Order 3 x Mozzarella sticks and 1 x Stilton Garlic Mushrooms for starters, waited quite a while for them, and when they arrived the mozzarella sticks were all cold, and my mushrooms were all dried up, no sauce and the sourdough was so dry and crusty i couldn't even get my fork into it! I called the manager (Adam) over, he apologised and said he would get the chef to redo them. They came out, the mushrooms were better and the mozzarella sticks were warm, looked like they had been refried. The main courses came out, the hunters chicken was supposed to be with sweet pot fries, my husbands burger was ok, but chips had definitely been recooked. Sausage and mash was hot and ok, so was the mixed grill - although fried egg was broken and over cooked. No-one bought any sauces over, and we collected our own cutlery from the station by the door. The hunters chicken got taken back into the kitchen, and appeared about 6 minutes later with extra melted cheese on the top, and the sweet pot fries as we ordered. My friend wanted mustard for his steak on his mixed grill, so used the one that was on display. 3/4 of the way through his meal, I noticed that the Heinz HOT mustard was 12 MONTHS OUT OF DATE! My friends Hunters Chicken was inedible, and tasted weird, like a strong plastic taste, and it didn't smell right We were disgusted about this and asked to see the manager again! He came over, didnt really get what we were trying to say about a product being out in the customer area that was a year out of date, I asked for head office address, which whe went off upstairs to obtain. He came back after about 10 minutes with an email address, that looked like the email address of the pub! We then checked another 2 bottles of Heinz hot mustard that were on customer display - these were only 2 MONTHS OUT OF DATE! When he returned he said that they had been taken over on Tuesday last week, I explained that that shouldn't be an excuse for poor standards of food hygiene and I was appalled that there wasn't a procedure in place to ensure that out of date products werent being checked regularly by the staff. I dred to think what the standards in the kitchen must be like, and who is checking the dates on the food that is being served to the public! We paid for our drinks and left hungry, grabs some chips on the way to the theatre - not quite the birthday meal out for my friend that I expected! Toilets are als quite filthy, lack of soap and door locks

We was really disappointed on this visit for lunch. I’ve been here four times before and the food was amazing. This was a long way from that I think they have a new chef as the presentation was different and the food did not taste anywhere near as good and it wasn’t particularly hot. The coffee wasn’t hot either. I mentioned this as I was paying but there was no offer to take them off the bill the lady said “well hopefully it will be better next time”. Sorry it was far from value for money on this occasion so there won’t be a next time.

Advised again we had booked a table to be told they have no way of accessing the data / bookings made via that link and could therefore not inform anyone they were unable to honor any bookings via this route. We left immediately, hungry and having to change plans in search of restaurant that understands customer service. Must be harder than I imagine to update your own website and keep customers informed. God knows how many other people have fallen for this and left disappointed.

We are staying in the area. Last week before we traveled I looked online for places to eat out with my family that was dog friendly. I made a booking for a table at 7pm on Monday via the booking system provided by their own website. I received an email confirmation after the booking. The day before the booking I received both an email and text message asking to confirm the booking which I did. We arrived at the pub at 7pm Monday to be told they don’t serve food after 6pm on Mondays. I explain that I made a booking and the bar staff simply weren’t interested. They suggested that they had been having problems with the booking system and intimated it was my fault for using it. I asked why someone did not contact me to inform me there was a problem with the booking but no, that was too much to ask. Their website states they serve food until 8pm but you obviously can’t trust anything they advertise. I will not be visiting this place again and would discourage anyone from visiting.

The Kings Head looks lovely from the outside and we even checked them out on Instagram (give their social media person a payrise because they are very good at their job!) yet the experience couldn’t be further from “good”. We waited about ten minutes at an unmanned bar at around 6pm on a Tuesday night, service was awful-had to ask for a new pint glass as the one given had lipstick stains around the rim. I wanted to leave after that but we stayed for food which was a mistake. Gammon was gristly, burgers were fine but overpriced. I had tacos which were beyond poor (pre cooked chicken from a packet with a bit of hot sauce), plus the salt & chilli chips which were laughable (unseasoned chips with a whole raw chilli (maybe two?) cut with a very blunt knife and thrown on top-I had to scrape it all off, pic included). A member of my party even saw a coke baggie in the toilet. Delightful place! We left quickly, £70 down. There are much better places to go, that serve decent food!

Even though we were allocated a table, some people came in and sat too close for my liking, when they removed their masks. There is a good choice of drinks on offer, though several had already run out. The real ale lacked body; a common fault these days and after the first mouthful, it was as flat as the surrounding countryside. It was also quiz night and the crowd were a bit boisterous. Other than that, a nice place to spend an hour or two and just great to be able to go and sit in a pub again.

I will begin by saying we love Cromer. The Kings Head however was horrendous. Do not bother. On arrival one of our party was questioned and warned with police even though he was exempt. Government policy is not to question anyone. We were demeaned because we didn’t have the NHS track & trace app. We gave our details so no problem. In all honesty we should have left at that point. We were seated by the toilets and given one menu for 5 of us. Told we had to order drinks and meals all at once. Then had to pay up front before we even received our drinks. The dark haired waitress was obnoxious and rude. She was discussing the (few) customers who left out loud. There was a regular customer who had no face covering at the bar, he had no food just a drink. The dark haired waitress then kicked an elderly man out for finishing his food but wanting to finish his drink. Food arrived. Was not good. Cocktails horrible. Meals were not checked on once received. Don’t visit unless you want to be treated like a child. One of our party went to the toilet, 1 meter away, she was chastised for not wearing a mask. At this point there were no other customers in the pub (I wonder why). We have a waitress in our party, she makes customers feel at ease and is personable to customers. After reading the reviews (which we should have done before we went) we feel the management should deal with this dark haired waitress who as we left muttered something about us to a colleague. This was a much deserved break for NHS staff and wished we had visited the Cromer Tandoori who were delightful. You would have more life at a morgue than the Kings Head.

The patronising redhead woman with glasses made us really uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. Going off on one about how police can enter the building and how we could be questioned because we were a family of 5. Not the warmest of welcomes. After being seated for 5 minutes (having 1 menu between a family of 5) we were expected to have our order ready. Once we had ordered our drinks and food the redhead woman came straight back to our table and said we had to pay the bill - without even receiving our drinks first at least?! She made our experience really unpleasant. As the place was near empty (unsurprisingly) we could hear the staff talking amongst themselves, badmouthing customers after they had left. Disgusting service. We even witnessed the aforementioned dark haired lady kicking out a middle aged man for wanting to finish his drink after finishing his meal, creating quite a scene in the process. Something she seemed quite proud of. The job’s gone to her head, and she’s more interested in the power trip of enforcing this COVID nonsense than providing customers with a pleasant experience.

Don't usually do this but went into this pub after driving 168 miles and was served the worse pint I've ever had. I'm nearly sixty and popped in with my wife but had to take back the pint served because it was completely flat. There were two serving and one, I was later told was the bar manager with the dark hair, was what I can only say obnoxious. I was extremely polite but she behaved like a spoilt brat and then took ages to replace the pint to make a point, refused initially to change the pint to one that was OK and simply kept staring at me as if I was at fault. Spent three days in Cromer and everyone was fantastic and friendly apart from this place and the owners want to have a good look at the person running this because she is quite simply inept and extremely rude to customers. Avoid this place like the plague despite the refurbishment, the manners and service it is quite simply terrible.

Then being told at 9:15 that it is last orders and we have to be out of the building by 9:45pm, I thought the new law was 10pm? The new rules are difficult enough without them being squeezed further. My husband likes real ale and I’m partial to a shandy but at the time there wasn’t any local ale on and we’re not too keen on Doom Bar. We did settled for two pints in Heineken Beer. The young man behind the bar was pleasant and served us in a professional manner. We’ve never dined at the Kings Head and don’t plan too so cant comment on the food aspect. We decided to order the southern fried chicken once again we had to pay upfront and were told 30 mins before the food was served . 20 mins later the waitress returns to tell us that the card machine had frozen and that we would have to pay again using an alternative card machine. Once again our food order would be a further 30 mins before it was served. We had now been here for almost 90mins and still no food order. At this point I had enough and decided to leave. This has to be the worst service I ever experienced. I will never return to this pub.

Having waited from 4.30 with a drink for the 5.30 start of food service, and having been given a menu at the door. We watched as a well dressed family were seated at 5.30 and immediately served, (having already been told it would be 7.00 before they could eat but the manager succumbed to their request) whilst those of us who had been waiting with drinks watched on. Why we tried to place an order at 5.50 we were then told that we did not have a slot and would have to wait until 7.00 for service. I did ask the manager whether it was because my wife is Asian that the well spoken, well dressed white family got our slot. Apparently we should have been given an ordering time when we entered but not being psychic, how are we to know? So it was either pure racism/classism, or simply a poorly managed and poorly trained staff, who refused to rectify their own failing The fact we asked for the menu and for a table was simply not sufficient to indicate we planned to eat? Either way, don't bother with this one. Oh, and the drink we had, the waitress did not know that IPA was a form of pale ale!

With visiting Cromer, we decided to have a quiet pint and to visit the kings head. Upon visiting we came to understanding of its refurbishment. All good and well, but seemed like staff had disappeared aswell? We were served with a very prompt 'what do you want' we hadn't been sat for 4 minutes, nor looked at anything yet. When we ordered (2 beers ) we asked how much it would come too. We instantly got the the reply 'I dont know' extremely snappy. The Young Lad, obviously working within the pub hadn't been there long. Because £4.30 + £4.30 isn't exactly hard. While sat enjoying our drinks, mid conversation blasted across the pub 'do you want anymore drinks?' We would would of loved another but after watching staff play with their hair, touch their face, play with piercings. We were extremely put off. So I got up and went to the toilet. To the point on the ledge, I could of quite easily wrote my name, and number in there. If you're going to do a lovely refurbishment, make sure you get the lovely staff. The lady who sat us down and the young lad who asked us how our day was (brown haired about 5ft, and blonde ish lad) well done. You done immaculate with just a smile. Everyone else needs to smile, without poking their tongue piercings out.

At first glance you could be fooled into thinking all was good for Covid security when you have to wait to be seated and it seems a one way system is in operation. This soon changes when it becomes clear that customers are crossing over and moving around the establishment as if there was no pandemic and the staff are without any face coverings. It was amusing to read in the toilets the systems that were in place to keep the establishment, staff and customers safe when there was so much dust on the ledges you could write your name in it. On a positive the food tasted better than it looked and was priced in line with most other restaurants in the area. It was a bit disappointing that you couldn’t open a tab so you had to pay every time you ordered, time consuming for the staff and creates numerous receipts.

We were seated inside and went outside for a smoke as it was nearly empty, shortly after we watched a family being told off for seating themselves, loudly in front of four tables. We were Then berated for moving tables, loudly across the garden by the same short red haired middle aged lady with glasses. Highly rude and unprofessional. We have to say, having read some of the tourist reviews, that a lot of what has been lobed is unfounded! We are not locals, nor are we tourists, but we are Norfolk, and we are from the surrounds, and we are not aiding with this pub, because we know anyone who works there or have a cosy relationship! Someone has written, using his or her dog as a reason for attack?! Well, just a point of correction there: the tables often seem empty, but they have a reservation process in this pub, and guess what? Yes, outside tables are at a premium with advance booking! So, when you were told they were fully booked, despite your unfounded comments re your little doggy, they were reserved, for people with or without dogs, who had half a brain cell to book!Next, the locals not signing in comment? Nonsense! The procedure is SOME people were joining others, who HAD signed in! It is one signature, per booking, per table! So, once again, the pathetic sour grapes, because someone didn't get what they wanted! And unfounded, and a silly attack!Okay, I d agree with the point made by someone else, about some youths, with foul language, and known to some of the bar staff! We have seen this, and actually agree, these idiots should be told to leave! I think this is a new issue, as this pub has just reopened, and it is still (under difficult and new circumstances) trying to get its act together. So, let's hope they (as with all pubs) start to deal with foul mouths, and boot them out.We did eat here, and drank here, and have to say it was all very well organised, and we did not wait for more than a couple of minutes for a drink. Yes, we had to, then, go with the waitress to the bar to pay, and then wait for our drinks to come out, so a bit hap hazard, but no wait. Food was around 20 mins and okay. Not special, so maybe this needs a look at, but not bad. No better or worse, for instance, than the Wellington. Also, I think some people are clueless. The sanitiser at the door, needed a brain cell to operate it, and clearly the person who wrote negatively about that, did not have one with them! The foot pedal needs to be lifted up, then press, and there is sanitiser. It was stuck when we tried, but all it needed was a 'toe up'.And to another unfounded comment, re face masks and shields? It is not compulsory for ANYBODY serving to wear them, not in a shop, bar, pub, restaurant. So, until it is, it is wrong to attack for choice. Some of the staff do wear face coverings. It is there choice, not law! But, on sanitising, we saw every table sanitised after guests were done, and even, some, were done before new guests arrived. I think the tourist element should stop attacking we who love here all year around, as it is a thin line, in these current times, between welcome, tolerance, and dislike! We are here all year, not just for a week, and this town does not need beating up by incomers, who don't seem to have any respect for what we are all trying to do!Well done King's Head, and staff, keep it up, as WE appreciate you, whilst others get things wrong! I would agree about the references to price for drinks, though! Can't you lower your beer, lager, wine prices, please????!!!

One way system that the staff didn’t adhere to so the customers followed suit, staff didn’t try to social distance and didn’t wear any protection. The lunch time we visited was chaotic, we placed our drinks and food order and waited.....in the end I reminded someone we had no drinks! Ok mistakes happen, but then we noticed that anyone one who arrived after us got their food , and all those that arrived before us hadn’t got their food . So it seemed that as orders were placed they went to the top of the pile ! One poor family that arrived before us waited over an hour, we waited 50 minutes! Yet another table ordered 20- 30 minutes after us and got their order Immediately before us ! System really needs looking at. But the food was good and plentiful, and the staff were friendly.

The pub has been refurbished, and looks good, although just wish the brewery that owns it had gone for more of a traditional pub look, not the sea-side themed weathered boarding around the bar. Nice to see the pub open, and actually run well, but sadly what it lost with being a locals' pub, albeit really tatty and run down, it has only gained in noisy kids on holiday with parents who think noise from them is okay! The real issue here is the totally confused entrance system, and we witnessed it on a rainy, July day, where it seemed staff were changing over, at around 5.00pm. There was a queue outside, due to social distancing, and it was raining, and we were all getting wet, despite the fact most of us had tables reserved, and we could see there were tables free! They must have had a bust day shift, as glasses had been piled up at the bar, which was a little worrying, due to Covid-19! One couple, fed up with a queue going nowhere nipped into the pub through the back gate, and we heard them say, ''This is a joke, we have been standing here for 15 minutes, getting soaked, and we have booked! Let's just go in the back way!'' They did! Another poor chap, just left, and we really felt for him, as he was on his own, and seemed to just want a drink! We eventually only got in because staff left, and new staff came down stairs, and then one person came to the door, and looked totally lost, as she went through the reservation and sign in books! We eventually got to our table (and there were at least five empty tables in the snug area!) a full 20 minutes after arriving! We weren't late, and why was our table not given to us, as it appeared to be free? Then, at the table, we noticed two other couples, who were behind us outside, also come in and take their tables! So, they, too, had been made to wait, soaked, for tables that were free! Next, we ordered drinks, as the others did, and the same woman who seemed to not know what was going on with the books, took all orders, and then left, and we had to all go to the bar to pay, and re-sit. We waited, and waited.... and waited for another 15 minutes, and no drinks arrived for any of us who had been queuing outside! Total nonsense! One of us went and asked another waitress, and only after more time, did we all , in that snug area, get our drinks! But one could sense the general consensus of annoyance. It isn't rocket science to allocate tables reserve them, get people to them, and get them served! There was no apparent manager or supervisor, as the three on duty all looked young, and maybe, with all the glasses piled up on the bar, they were just taking over from a lazy day shift, who had simply legged it, after a busy day, so we all had to suffer? Whatever..... let's, please, get this right! If one books a table, and is a general queue, can't someone come to the door and simply say, ''Those who have tables booked, please step to the left, those without, the right!'' Or are the queues going to simply last until a member of staff can be bothered to sort out the empty tables? That is the other thing, as they were sitting empty for a good half an hour, and surely that then backs up the next sitting and so on! Madness. Oh, and drinks here were limited, so they must have sold out of some beers and lagers, but also the prices have been hiked! Probably by the same brewery that spent mony on the weatherboarding. Shame, as Cromer needs lower pricing, and not just tourist pricing.

We called for a drink here around 5pm. The hand sanitiser on the door looked promising but we couldn't get anything out of it and used our own. A staff member came and took our order then one of us had to go to the bar and pay. The drinks were then brought to us by the same person who took our order. There was no social distancing and as none of the staff wore PPE by way of a face mask or shield I felt uncomfortable with this. As we sat I observed and witnessed staff handling cash then getting drinks without hand washing or sanitizing in between. It seemed to be a different rule for some of the locals who were allowed to approach the bar and order. Then 2 young men came in in good spirits quite loud using bad language but again friendly with the bar staff. They were then joined by another man with a child with no distancing then a third man came up hugged them and they all shook hands. And we wonder why this virus is still at large. Some people had ordered food and were forced to stay and listen to these foul mouthed irresponsible idiots but at least we had the luxury of leaving. The 4 bar staff were young and obviously not capable of implementing rules to keep both themselves and their customers safe. We also noticed locals were not asked for their contact details. A sickening experience to say the least when everyone should be doing what they can to stay safe.

Have to say this is now a lovely pub, tastefully refurbished, and they have made the best use if the internal space, and with moving the kitchen, it is now larger inside. It DID need it, as the pub had not been touched for 40 odd years! Madness on behalf of the owner's Punch Taverns! Anyway, the outside is pretty much as it was, but, thankfully, the awful smokers' gallery, just outside the back door, has gone... for now! The staff, headed by Liz, the manager, were on form, and really onto the social distancing, hand sanitizing, and general great customer service. All is done at tables now, but with a confusing, go to the bar to pay, then go back to table. Can't the staff carry a wireless card swipe/input? Anyway, my only gripe is the prices have rocketed! Of course one has to take note that the brewery has refurbished the place, but the thing is we are all broke! Many of us are coming out of furlough, and some of us have lost our jobs! So, isn't it, Punch Taverns, a bit cynical to jack all the booze prices up, so instead of paying £4.20 for a pint of premium lager, you now charge £4.60 to £4.85! That is too much, sorry! Anyway, maybe common sense will kick in, as despite a good few days, the numbers are still down, and that isn't just because of Covid, it is also because we are used to staying at home, paying sensible prices for beer, lager, wine, spirits, so we don't NEED to come out to the pub! Don't kick us whilst we are down, reduce the prices, and be more sensitive! Other than that.... fab staff, fab place, crap prices! Oh, and a further comment: the 'yoof' element. They were breaking all social distancing rules on Saturday, with a group of locals, outside, at the top, rear corner, clearly drunk, and that was only late afternoon! They were not a family, and whenever one of their 'mates' passed by, outside the gate, one of them, usually one of the girls, would rush up, shout, hug, and then go back to spread any contact! My advice with these youngsters, who just aren't getting it, is to say unless you stick to guidelines, you will ruin this for us all, and potentially close us down! Let's hope these selfish, young people don;t ruin the King's Head's new refurbishment, with their behaviour. Why not do Over 21s only, until this is all over?

Well the first impression was good. Dog friendly and lovely decorated pub and that’s where the positivity stops ! We went in and were sat at a table all fine. We ordered drinks and food the waitress taking our order was young and nervous, that’s not a problem at all, However she didn’t seem confident at all and had to kept checking things we wanted to change on our meals . While waiting for the food we got chatting to another couple their who had also ordered food ... they had been waiting over an hour !!! They complained and were told their food would be another 10 mins ! 15 mins they still hadn’t got their food so got a refund and walked out !!! After an hour we asked where our food was and we were told it would be another 15 mins ! We decided to wait and 20 mins later it was delivered !!! Bearing in mind we had been sat waiting for 1hr 20 mins we hadn’t been brought any cutlery or condiments ! When the waiter brought the food out he took it to the wrong table initially ! I could here him say it was there order and they kept saying it wasn’t !!! He then brought the same food to us ! Now with all this covid precautions going on should he have brought the same plates over to us from another table ??? Also they’d got the order wrong. I had asked for salad instead of chips but they gave me chips and put salad on my friends plate !!! They then took the food away again as he wasn’t sure it was ours ! He brought it back a few mins later with chips on my friends plate but still chips with mine. I asked for the salad and he said he would go get it, he never came back to the table ! I also asked for condiments no one brought them over ! I had to ask for a knife and fork once my dinner had been put on the table ! When we spoke to the manager and said to her what had happened ! She blamed covid and her new inexperienced staff !!! And then told my friend he was rude !!! We tried to explain to her that we had a car park ticket that was due to run out and had they have informed us that there would be such a long wait for food then we perhaps would have gone somewhere else. We tried to tell her that it might be good to inform customers what’s going on but she said we were rude and that she was struggling with her new staff ! Well I’m sorry but as a customer I’m not really interested in her problems ! Don’t be rude to your customers and keep them informed !!! And to top it off the food was cold and crap I hardly ate mine ! A terrible experience from start to finish !!!!

Well, this is confusing, as there is an A Board, outside, with clear signage, stating under new management, but this pub still has a grimy feel to it, and it lives up to its passed poor reviews, and reputation. Under the old management I can imagine there was shouting and ignorant bullying of customers. And the problem seems to be that there is new management, but they seem to have faded into the tatty background, and have not done anything to the place. We had all heard, locals, regulars and local visitors, that this pub was due for a refit, and Punch Taverns were to plough a quarter of a million pounds into to, with it closing the end of May. Well, guess what? It opened the next day, with a sign stating, ''Under new management'' and all that is new is a photo copied menu! Not all the staff are lazy, rude or lacking, but we have seen behaviour with drink and food hygiene, that is not right. So, come on: new management make your mark, and educate, and show us what you are made of, but Punch Taverns needs to wise up, and stop being so tight, and do something, and also bring your already high prices down, as this pub, currently, is tat, and you can't charge high prices for tat! Also, when we visited a few times, there were very young kids, seemingly known to the staff, taking up a sofa, near the bar. It looked like a form of baby sitting? Not sure what is going on in this pub, but there is either an over familiarity, between some staff and some customers, or a lack of care, so anything goes? Just hope the reviews about shouting at customers and also beer from the waste is not happening still, as both are outrageous. I am sure we will all keep aware of this kind of behaviour, but then why aren't licensing and the health departments investigating? Maybe we all leave reviews, these days, but don't contact the appropriate authorities? Perhaps we should, but then shouldn't all of them be keeping an eye on sites like this?!

As people who know Cromer, and are NOT tourists, we have used the King's Head, but mostly avoided it, as it was always over-priced and with the previous Land Lord slovenly! We all hoped the Punch Taverns, so called, 'new' management would regenerate this pub, as it has, potentially, so much going for it, being in such a perfect position, and just off the sea-front, opposite the Hotel de Paris.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon, the beer garden is dog friendly as is the pub, it does look a bit tired but it has recently been taken over and the ciabatta sandwiches for £5.75 were excellent value for money with thick cut cooked ham and cheese with tortilla chips , salad, and creamy coleslaw...ummm..

We were looking for somewhere to eat. however, the pub was dirty. Dog hairs all over the place, on the carpet. Outside staff and their mates congregated, were all drinking and seemed to treat customers as an inconvenience. My wife who has a disability was even laughed at. Avoid this place

Not a great deal to choose from for food in Cromer so walked around and found this lovely family friendly pub. First visit had a drink and sat in the little courtyard at the rear which was actually well set out with plenty of space. Second visit ordered food, 2 fish and chips and 2 burgers. Food served from 5pm in the afternoon and once ordered we waited no more than 15 mins for the food to be served. Very nice and good value. Staff could not be anymore friendly, even some of the local customers were happy to chat which made for a great atmosphere. Nice to see a pub can still be welcoming to all and offer good beer and food.

We just got chance to type this up after what happened last Sunday at the kings head in Cromer. We met as a group for one of our birthdays and feel people should know:
