We actually had a very nice meal from here, probably one of the best Chinese meals we’ve had. Didn’t read the reviews prior to visiting, I think had I have done I would have been a bit unsure about trying, but glad I didn’t as I found it to be very good value, sweet and sour chicken had a very good flavour, egg fried rice was really nice. 5 star food hygiene rating displayed and found the Lego figurine’s in the window cute and quirky.

Ordered mixed starter for two, all overcooked prawn toast I inedible! Fried rice chewy and tasteless, deep fried chilli beef tasteless and rock hard In parts. Never again!

Dubious about ordering from here given some of the reviews, but food was hot and freshly cooked and very nice. All the family involved from taking the order to cooking. 5 star food hygiene rating too.

Brilliant service great food, delivered on time, what more can you ask for.

Delivered on time. Chips and prawn crackers were good but that’s all!! Crispy duck had the texture of paste!! Wouldn’t feed my cat with it! Special fried rice was a gray gloop. Curry was just about ok. Prawn balls were crispy but so so greasy you could squeeze it out of them. Never again!

Chicken chow mein tasted like the pan was burnt and was part of the flavour awful complete waste of money couldnt eat it ! got at 9.30ish so wasn't enough time to take back by the time tried it!

Enjoyed everything about this. Great food with a wide selection served by lovely staff. Looking forward to my next visit.

First time we have used this takeaway and unfortunately we will not use them again, food was very average with re-heated / cooked chips ate some and binned the rest, for the price we were expecting more, shop needs a make over as very tired and the secondhand stuff for sale seemed a bit random!! Staff friendly was the only plus point from our visit 👍

I don’t know why these are such bad reviews , we had such an amazing experience here, the boy at the front desk was very polite, same as the other staff and answered all of my queries, the price is very reasonable and made in decent time all hot and fresh. I would recommend this place very nice for a takeaway :)

We have ordered from here many times and always get at least one takeaway from here each time we visit Horning. Food is always good and there is plenty of it. Also love the little Lego figures in the window. Very cute and like to have a browse through them each time we come.

Fantastic restaurant! One of the best chinese restaurants I've tried. Huge slices of chicken and massive king prawns in their wandering dragon. Beautiful flavours, well presented cooked to perfection. Even their sweet and sour chicken balls were enormous. Definitely recommend their Golden City special rice and the Wandering Dragon!

Always get the sweet n sour chicken, bbq fried rice and prawn chow mein. large portions, good taste coming from person coming from asia.

Quick to get the order however when it got to Eating it, the taste was not the greatest. The only things that were edible were the chips and chicken balls. Don’t recommend

I constantly use this Chinese as I'm a local, its now been 5 times most times the order was late or wrong. Tonight was the last resort, i don't want to loose it but it's time to speek up. As per the last bad reviews I agree with everything. The duck was very poor and shredded from the worst bits to look more. The chicken curry was tastless , no extras as would be as normal. The service was very quick for a bank holiday, I wonder why,? The chicken balls were very nice. Most of it went to the dog, he says thank you.

I ordered takeaway after a long time, I used to be happy with them. Today there was a hair in my food. They have also stopped giving the free prawn crackers when the order is above 17£. The prices are way up, I understand this is not about them but keeping the small perk you used to have would be nice. The hair did it for me, that was the last time I order from them. The woman on the phone was not rude though and the girl delivering was very polite.

Ordered £40 worth of Chinese. Pork chow mein, sent a prawn chow mein, highly allergic. Quarter duck was more like a slice of duck shredded to make it look like a quarter. Didn’t send on the bone like other decent places do so you can see what you’re getting. Green cut off the cucumber. As a chef myself the green on the cucumber adds the crunch to the pancake itself. Zero flavour to a highly spiced dish. Sweet and sour sauce is like drinking dish water. Also for £40 worth of food to not include free prawn crackers it goes to show your business is an absolute failure. Would never recommend and will not order ever again. Shut yourselves down before someone else does.

Sweet and sour source tastes like aluminium. Absolutely crap. Worst ever I'm serious. I just dumped my meal outside as it was so bad.

Ordered £40 worth of food on ordering worst service on phone Ever On collection I’ve never in my entire life experienced such rudeness. No acknowledgement no eye contact the person had there head tilted to throughout whole experience put change on counter not lifting there head. Asked if I got free prawn crackers ( considering cost and almost ALL Chinese take always give free crackers to be told (yet again not even looking at me) that it had to be ordered. Food was a 5 as I was starving never ever felt so frustrated because of the rudeness

Barbecued spare ribs..... Dry, overcooked, tasted burnt, sauce so thick you couldn't spoon it out. Plain Chow Main.... Burnt, overcooked. King Prawn Chop Suey... Tasted burnt, quite the worst meal I have ever had. Will never use this takeaway again.

I never leave reviews but thought I had too this time. We come to Norfolk once a year and normally have a chinese once whilst we are there. We tried it last year and thought it was average and again had it the other day, we ordered for 8 people and every dish was absolutely awful please get it from somewhere else as you will be very disappointed

We have been using this Chinese every year while on holiday for about 15 years and it has always been nice. NOT NOW we ordered food on Saturday evening and it was 32.00 which was quite expensive for what we had, if it had been nice I wouldn't be bothered about the price. Curry sauce was so thick it resembled wallpaper paste and the beef and chicken was processed and boiled. The whole lot went in the bin. Also the till was manned by a child who at first tried to overcharge me. Won't be using again.

Been using this takeaway for years, but the quality of the food has steadily got worse. The meal today was awful, the curry far too thick and completely tasteless. The till is manned by young children who can come across as rude and the restaurant is cash only which can be inconvenient. After this meal, we unfortunately will not be using this outlet again

Do not hesitate to order from here! Golden city I have fallen in love with the EXCELLENT quality of cooking and fresh tasty ingredients. The staff are so welcoming, polite and adorable and as a local resident this Chinese is the best for miles upon miles in fact when far away for home - this is the food I crave. Great prices, great portion size, and totally scrumptious. Have tried a few different things here and every dish has become a favourite. Thanks.

Totally agree onion k comments. We are very awkward and picky. Up until now we have found it very hard to find a that we all enjoyed ..... Then we found golden city . We always get it delivered, the lady on the phone and delivery driver are friendly and polite​, delivery is quick, food always to an high standard lemon chicken use fresh chicken breast taste more favor .now we Just need to find a decent Indian takeaway now.

Everyone please ignore bad comments is not true, We tried this Chinese and we would highly recommend the food everything we ordered is delicious. we will definitely order from here again.

First time using this chinese and was not at all disappointed the food was hot, fresh and tasted amazing a big order of £56 and every meal was bang on will not hesitate to use again, they actually use fresh vegetables in their curry’s not seen this in any chinese takeaway for a long time , we all absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered

I just read one bad comment about golden city I felt so dis casting who wrote this rubbish comment, since I use golden city 3 years ago never had any problems with my order , the lady who answer the phone always polite and helpful, and she always repeats order carefully to avoid any mistakes, and I always listen carefully to double check am I miss any item, this is how it work to make sure everyone can got right order , not when people repeats back and you doing something different not listen then any mistakes happen and blame shop , this is totally wrong. Good customer service not including customer fault and shop cost more money to correct it, not including customer said anything shop must agree and do it if shop don’t do it then put bad comments to mislead someone who don’t know exactly what happened. How many star hygiene I don’t think is big insult about people choosing they favorite shop , if you don’t do full government paperwork can course your star hygiene lower , star hygiene is not connected to food is tasty or not . I write this comment just want to tell people who didn’t order golden city before, please avoid any comment just order from them then you will know what exactly tastes about the food . Food quality and taste I think is our first consent. Even shop got 5 star hygiene but food taste rubbish do you still order from them? I don’t think so . I felt so upset about those people doing this bad thing to destroy local small business , too many business lock down since covid 19 , if you don’t support them please don’t destroy them. Life are so hard no need doing bad things to hurt people.

2* Hygiene Rating! if I had known this before hand I wouldn't have bothered. As for the owner response.. I confirmed the ordered with both rice dishes included!!! And rang back and discussed both those dishes on a second occasion. The fact you've written such a stupid response speak volumes to my point!!! Also the staff member repeated the order once. Saying it was confirmed 3 times is flat out a lie. Disgusting behaviour. Please everyone avoid...... By far the worst customer service toppled with plain basic food. Placed an order with both chicken fried rice and egg fried rice. The order was read back and confirmed. I then sat with my husband and he didn't think we needed both so I rang straight back explaining both rice dishes were on the order but we'd like to remove the egg fried rice. The staff member found the order and confirmed this would be removed reducing the order by £3.20. The order arrived no rice. I rang them back and asked for them to send it out but they wanted me to pick it up. You don't order a takeaway and have it delivered to then go fetch a dish they missed twice! They then said to send it out I would be charged another £3.00 delivery charge which from Horning to Hoveton is ridiculous! I explained not only did I confirm the order with both dishes included. I rang back minutes later and discussed both rice dishes and removed one. At no point did the lady say, there's no rice dish my apologies, I'll add it on.. they just delivered without it and made it out to be my fault. No apology, no replacement dish. As this was the only thing my son would eat. I quickly whipped him dinner up. Which meant mine was cold in the ebd. The crispy chilli beef was soggy with no chilli from the second it arrived. Terrible customer service and definitely not the best food. A local customer lost for good! Will never recommend. Any problems with your order you certainly wouldn't be received with a helpful response.

Had a takeaway for delivery. Despite being 5 mins up the road it took 1 1/2 hours to come (was told and hour wait). The food was really disappointing. I guess all Chinese food tastes different from one shop to another. Was just a bit tasteless.

When the family were last up in Horning we had another smashing wee takeaway together from the Golden City. When we first tried the Golden City the food was great although it was quite salty, and since then we have been asking them for low salt meals which they do without hesitation and they are really great, hugely generous and very tasty. Brilliant service and a smashing menu

Poor service , missing dishes, what did come was luke warm.then argued weren’t on order, even though they had email ,finally acknowledged was their mistake, Will never use again, save your money!

We stayed in horning for a week and tried golden city. Wasn’t impressed with meal but was edible! Gave them benefit of doubt and tried again tonight! Well that was the worst mistake ever! 1/4 of duck was an unbelievable small portion, unless the ducks in Norfolk are smaller than where I come from! The chicken curry and egg fried rice was totally over priced and disgusting! Just tasted, for some reason, of neat vinegar! We have visited Norfolk broads for over 5 years and always raved about the Chinese in horning, but sorry to say the quality of food has really gone down, but prices have gone up! Sorry to say won’t be going back there!

What an absolute disappointment. We have used this Chinese for many years, first time we complain about the simple fact our food is cold we get no common sense from these guys. Took and hour and a half after ordering before calling to check we are getting our food, then told it’s on its way. Next call 30 mins later still no food but apparently 5 mins away at which point doing the math we explained it will be cold. Food arrives in 5 mins and charged full price, stone cold. Call up to complain, they offer one free dish on the next order and tell us to heat our “Fresh” food in the microwave, sadly at this stage I felt quite insulted and informed the owner he has lost a client. I will add he did offer after to come and change the food over, I did explain its 8.40 and I wish to eat and bed because I’m up at 4.00am so will reheat my fresh food and never use their services again. I appreciate the offer of free food in compensation but can’t believe I was told to heat my fresh food in a microwave. Not impressed won’t use again.

Dreadful service!!! Was told a time the food would arrive.. the time come and nothing.. so gave it another 15 mins and then rung up to be told they haven’t even started the Order and would be another 30 mins. The person on the phone was so awful and unhelpful! Would definitely NOT recommend!! 👎🏽👎🏽

Have to say this was a very good Chinese meal. We had the aromatic duck, mushroom fried rice, salt & pepper chicken and a portion of curry sauce. All were very well cooked and the chicken in particular was lovely.

Started using this takeaway because we had it recommended, now use all the time including delivery. UPDATE .just had a meal from here, after one mouthful it went in the bin far too salty

We got back and found 3 items missing, yes could have checked each dish was there in the takeaway but who opens up each dish. We rang the takeaway and they said it didn’t go through yet we added the cost up and we’re charged for it. I suppose when you have a young child taking orders and money that’s what you should expect (he looked around 10yrs old) we won’t be using this takeaway again and will use the recommended one in Wroxham. What we did have was over cooked and so salty.

This was the worst Chinese ever it turned up an hour early then requested then 44 minutes late £120 meal couldn't even cut through the prawn balls prawn toast was black and the chips were hard full meal chucked in the bin

Having previously reviewed this place for what was once of the nicer Chinese meals I'd had in a while. Tried another last week and it was BY FAR one of the worst. Extremely overcooked chicken balls and prawn toast. Very small rice portion in comparison to others and overpriced overall

Possibly one of the nicest Chinese food I’ve ever had!

Friendly staff. Good takeaway food at a good price. Gave good timing when ordering for pick up. Promptly ready whwn said. Good mixed meat dish called "Happy Family' that we enjoyed.

Food is very hit and miss. Ordered tonight, including some that we have previously ordered and they tasted completely different from previous. Not as nicely flavoured and more “mushy/gravy” taste. Was told the order would take 45 min to and hour and it arrived in about 20 mins. Not good if you have told friends to come at a certain time! Also ordered and paid for prawn crackers to be included in the delivery and they were not with the order. Called to inform them and got a voice mail, so left a message. 45 mins later after we have finished eating, still no response. We will try them again because they are generally very tasty, but future orders will depend on the next order. No web site and the FaceBook page has not had an entry since 2018!!

It was probably the worst £35 I've spent, the sauces were very salty and the sweet and sour was tasteless. Spring rolls were way over cooked, and the pancake was actually a large spring roll with a very odd tasting filling. The foo Yung was extremely dry

Nice food, delivered quickly to our boat. Chinese curry was surprisingly more spicy than many Chinese curries (good for us, but maybe not for others). Would eat here again.

Absolute ripoff and over priced. Rice and noodles says in LARGE CONTAINERS on the menu, it arrived and it’s a SMALL CONTAINER and still charged for LARGE!! All dishes were very similar and a pure disappointment. I’m my honest opinion they are just taking the mick out of the holiday makers. And then to add on top we are 2 minutes down the road from the chinese and they add a delivery charge. JOKE!!

Ordered for the first time and received friendly fast service on our delivery. We ordered beef with peppers and chicken balls with sweet en sour sauce, all very nice and we definitely recommend.

Popped here after being treated pretty rude at the swan inn. Food was great. Staff are very pleasant. Walking back to the boat the little Chinese boy on his scooter shouted across the road to us to enjoy our meal. What a sweet kid! This...

Ordered from here 2 times, the first time food was missing from are order an took a while to get to us and though we would try again and it took over 2 hours to get to us and the food was cold the chicken in the chow mein was dry and rubbery and all in all just not great would never recommend this place to anyone

Not good! Very expensive. Wandering Dragon soggy and sloppy. Tough chicken and boiled veg. The chips were meant to be salt and pepper chips but brown, tough and burnt chilli flakes on them! This Chinese could really take a lesson from Chinese takeaways in Yorkshire...

Great food, ready for collection in 10 minutes, reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for more.

Worse Chinese I've ever had. 8 different dishes and honestly everything but the rice and chow mein was shocking. Waited an hour to handed the worse chicken curry I've ever known. No kick to the snp chicken, and no different taste to that than beef in black bean. Absolutely no flavour in either. We requested to return all the food it was that poor. No returns we was and have binned £60 worth of Chinese. How any one can this 5 stars is beyond me

Food good, but busy so often a long wait

We had a No.34 Golden City Special Chow Mein on Saturday which was disgraceful. plenty of noodles sauce and onions califlower and brocolli half of one small button mushroom 2 prawns 2 very tiny pieces of chicken No pork or meats to be seen worst take-away ever.

Everything bulked up with carrots broccoli and beans. Overpriced and not very good

We were on a boating trip on the broads and decided to order from here on our last night. We were in stalham which is approx 7 miles and they delivered free of charge I presume on a £50 plus order. We are from the north of England and this Chinese is beautiful it was still hot no fat on the meat and really tasty. Thankyou very much for finishing off our holiday with this lovely meal and delivering so far away. Lovely food x

Mientras estaba de vacaciones, me apetecía un chino, así que elegí este lugar porque es el más cercano a donde me estoy quedando.Esta comida para llevar no acepta tarjetas, solo es efectivo y el único cajero automático está en el pub de la calle que actualmente está roto, afortunadamente para nosotros, hicieron un reembolso en efectivo, así que 5 estrellas para el pub por permitirnos hacer esto a pesar de que no lo hicimos No compre nada.De todos modos, volviendo a la comida para llevar, la comida estaba muy caliente, lo cual es una ventaja cuando el lugar donde te alojas está a cinco millas de distancia.Sin embargo, eso es lo único bueno, la comida era mala, todo lo que recibimos estaba cargado de sal, excepto el chow mien de pollo.Nunca no he comido comida china para llevar, excepto hoy.Más de una hora después y todavía no puedo quitarme el sabor a sal de la boca.La mayor parte fue a la basura.

Very disappointed with the food. The Lemon Chicken was nothing like the picture on the menu, it was very thin slices and it was dried up and scratchy to the mouth, we had to bin it and the lemon sauce was a solid lump of Gloup. Even when reheated the gloup did not become a sauce. The chilli beef was mainly chilli batter, not much beef. We had been looking forward to our meal as we have eaten from there before and not been disappointed.

Pleasant food and service. Parking outside needs care or your door will prang the high kerb. One star missed as the shop won't take a card payment (which seems a local problem as a few won't take cards around here) which has actually encouraged us not to use them on a couple of occasions now. Come on folks, you're losing business here!

Very tasty meal. Especially the Wandering Dragon dish with juicy prawns and tender chicken. The chicken in one of the sweet n sour chicken balls was rather tough. The chef very kindly cooked an off menu veggie dish for our friend. Excellent service.

Tenía muchas ganas de una reunión del viernes por la noche con un amigo y esto era realmente normal: rayaba en los pobres, ya que tenía que recalentarlo y el plato de gambas que era caro estaba tan lleno de soja que tenía un sabor demasiado fuerte. En general, no volvería a ordenar.
