No complaints regarding the food, really enjoyed the meal. Not a great selection of drinks though. We were the only people eating in but they had a lot of food collections while swe were there.

Came by this place by chance on a Monday evening. We’re so glad we found it as struggled with finding a decent place online. Authentic tasty food, nice clean restaurant and great service too. Two of us are vegetarian and they catered accordingly. Child friendly. Was a high of 32degrees today and they put a fan on next to our table without even being asked. Thank you all 🙏

The food was mediocre. And we both had soup which were delivered at different times. One without a plate under it. No aerviettes at that time. (They arrived with the main course) The main dishes arrived and they were extremely hot in the middle and cold around the edges. This strongly suggest that they had been microwaved. Again coming out at different times suggesting a lack of microwave capacity. For the price you expect better. And to cap it all it they do NOT accept credit cards. Which is odd in this day and age.

There wasn’t really any care given. The food was hot in the middle cold on the outside and wasn’t all brought at the same time, about 5 minutes apart like it was being microwaved. Honestly it was way too expensive for what it was.

Not bad but nothing special at all. The service is poor to say the least and the restaurant is a bit dingy. The food was very average and safe to say I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

The food good we only had a takeaway but was good I put it in a cool bag to keep it hot on way home, not eaten in but it does look a bit dark and could do with a good clean dust and bits on floor and woodwork , but the food is good

Just order a take away from the Hot and Cold Chinese and received the wrong dish. The gentleman on the phone accused me of lying and said we did not order the dish that we didn't have. He then continued to tell me numerous times that I hadn't ordered the food, Been going to this restaurant for years but I won't be going back.

We used to rate this Chinese and a month ago this would of been a5 star review, recently my friend told me they got food poisoning from a rice dish, I decided to brush that off and order anyway.. unfortunately we met the same fate

As strangers visiting the area you never know which takeaway to use. The Hot & Cold Chinese didn't disappoint. Fresh tasty food, not too different from our local. Really nice fresh food and very reasonable prices. With a reasonable 15 min waiting time on a Saturday night. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again from here ❤️

Ordered a takeaway on 19/03/23, waited a little while for the good but everything was OK until we got it home and my partner cut open a chicken ball to see it was still raw!!

Have had a few take aways from here and well it's fantastic the food is well hot such great value and on time I ring thay say a time I get there and it's ready it's the best Chineses food I'v had for a very long time abd will be going again

Food was well prepared. Better than a lot of the local competition. Not helpful for vegan. Weird roped off entrance inside. Felt like a security terminal.

I'm not keen on the decor not you don't eat the chair covers! Or meal was beautiful. I couldn't fault it. Piping hot, looked amazing and tasted amazing too. We had mixed starters, wow, an assortment of main meals and there was no chance of fitting a dessert in! Definitely cant wait to go back.

Looking from the outside is deceptive, we chose to eat in & found it to have a cosy feel,the menu has everything a chinese menu needs at very fair prices. The food came quite quickly considering it was early evening. Each ordered plate came with a generous amount, was piping hot & tasted great all served by the staff who are very pleasant & polite. We will go again. Take away menu is the same but reduced costs.

small portions. got our order wrong. no offer for any discount when we went back even though my partner had to eat hers on her own after going back to the shop to get the correct order. was the first time ive ever had a take away and still been hungry after. chilli squid wasnt spicy. and the food was cold.

Redoing my review from 2 years ago. Last night had Chinese takeaway with my boyfriend's mother and brother for my boyfriend's birthday today, had Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Balls not thinking about it then later on so long after midnight I threw up due to the chicken balls being partially PINK still. If you like undercooked chicken, this is the place to go

Food that we had was good. Pancakes for the duck and one crispy chilli beef were missing.

Very surprised at the quality of the food at this restaurant. Looking at the outside you wouldn’t necessarily go in but it’s well worth a visit. Couldn’t fault the food or the service.

From the outside of this restaurant which was a little bit tatty, we decided to look inside. We were pleased we did. The meals were lovely. Good selection, nothing too much trouble. Nice and hot, and reasonably priced. Very popular with take away patrons. We were a party of five.

My wife & I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening with 3 other members of my family, having been told it was the only Chinese Restaurant in the area. It looks very shabby outside, has an unusual name, so we wondered what we were in for! When we went in, we couldn't have been more surprised! It was very nicely laid out, with 2 very pleasant young men waiters. We ordered a range of meals & nothing seemed too much trouble (e.g. rice noodles in lieu of egg noodles). Food was served in good time & was hot and delicious. We all came away very pleasantly surprised.

After hearing some negative views i was a bit dubious about eating in the restaurant but have noticed a big improvement in the takeaways I've had lately so took a chance and am happy to say food was fantastic in fact we were a bit surprised how good it was.will definitely be going back.

Had good tasty meal with extensive menu to choose from. Service quick and served piping hot. Will revisit when next in area.

Lovely place to eat & very happy with our visit. Arrived late in the evening (Wednesday) & was made to feel very welcome by the owner & not rushed to eat our food, like a lot of places. The food was gorgeous, especially the crispy chilli beef & the house special noodles, really enjoyed the whole experience. Yes there was a young waiter in a hoody, but don’t everyone have to start somewhere. Price was very reasonable for a restaurant in Fakenham & certainly worth every mouthful.I eat in a lot of restaurants & for me this is definitely one of the best.

Only a 3 sorry! Starter was old and reheated. Duck and sides were cold.. eek. Once I let them know we got hot plates... so main was warm and delicious. So perhaps a 3.75... oh but it was cold in there so sorry a 3 it is. 😁

Visited with friends and the food was adequate but overpriced and the waiters were just school children dressed in hoodies and not what you would expect in a restaurant.

We were in Fakenham and decided to wait until this restaurant opened to take a meal back to our cottage in Stanfield. Unfortunately we struggled to make the chap taking our order to fully understand what we wanted as we chose one of the meals for four on the menu but wanted a few tweaks due to preferences or dislikes etc. After a fashion we finished and sat back in anticipation. Unfortunately 5 minutes later a young girl came in to start her duties who would have been easier to converse with but we were done by now. Prices were not all that competitive but i guess conmpetition was sparse so it was supply and demand. The food however was tasty and we seemed to have what we wanted. so that was good.

We arrived just after 6.00 to an empty restaurant but an almost constant ringing phone.

Collected a take away this evening and it was barely warm when we got home. We live 2 mins in the car away! Would have been tasty if it was hot! Such a shame Hot and Cold!

En nuestro camino a casa desde Londres, decidimos ir a nuestro favorito Chino en Fakenham, caliente y fría. Ellos tienden a hacer muy bien con comida para llevar, pero decidimos tener una mesa. El servicio es de primera, una señorita muy agradable tomó nuestra orden. Sopa de pollo y maíz dulce, seguido de pato y luego el plato principal. La comida se sirve siempre caliente y no esperar mucho para entre campos. Tiene un agradable ambiente acogedor del sitio.

Ordered a take away and was told a 25 minute wait...was 45 and no customers. Food was luke warm and not overly enjoyable at all. Have to say i have eaten in the resteraunt before and it was lovely.

I personally use the restaurant every week and find it one of the best restaurant in Fakenham, plus the service from the young waitress Is second to nothing I will carry on using the restaurant in the future And look forward to my next meal

We came here as a group of 10 after being turned away from the other usual outlets in the town. The service was friendly and they were happy to accommodate us. The food was nice, plenty of choice, although the meals weren't served at the same time, so some of us had our side orders long before the main dish came out, but everything was perfectly edible. The bill was a touch on the steep side, but would certainly visit again. Visited December 2015

I haven't been for years but we have had a couple of takeaways from here in the last few months. We've had different things both times. Everything has been lovely but it's not been very hot. There's a long wait aswell. Nearly 45 minutes, with no-one in the resturant and no other takeaway orders. They used to give you prawn crackers while you waited, they no longer do this. Maybe they should when you are waiting that long. Worth the wait though, so it wont stop us going back.

We have a meal every weekend and maybe in the week also, it is lovely large size potions of food, doesn't matter what you have every bite is tasteful, the waitresses within the establishment are very polite and helpful even under the stresses of being full to bursting, hence why I fully recommend visiting the hot and cold due to its popularity!

Doesn't deserve 1 star, way worse than terrible. Sitting in a restaurant with the wall paper peeling from the walls or held up with sellotape while watched by the take away customers who are waiting excessively long for their food is not appealing. Food lacklustre and wrong dishes. Told it was great food... sorely mislead, given sloppy, tasteless mush. Manager not interested in rectifying mistakes or dealing with the rude, arrogant waitress. Plenty of excellent quality take aways elsewhere in Fakenham, I thoroughly recommend that you go to one of them instead. So disappointed and resent having paid good money for such an awful experience.

We ate on a predictably busy bank holiday evening. The restaurant was 2/3 full when we arrived. The lovely waitress took our order, but 2 hours (!) later we had only had our starter. A neighbouring table walked out after a similar period when told their main courses weren't even being cooked yet. The problem? Priority being given to takeaway customers - but even they were not all happy - we saw major complaints and refunds being given. When our food arrived, one dish was wrong, but we were so hungry we ate it. Quality very average. Noticed same problem at a neighbouring table too. The owner just accepts orders and walk-ins - no-one is actually managing the restaurant to ensure it can meet the orders. Apparently there was nothing unusual that evening to explain the chaos. Very poor.

I have had issues with speed of service here before but not this time. Thursday evening, no reservation, four or five tables of people and lots of take-aways however we were efficiently and very pleasantly seated, given prawn crackers. Two lagers and order taken, food arrived quite quickly and was delicious.A simple meal, chicken curry with fried rice, a prawn dish in satay sauce and a plate of plain noodles. Ample amounts and as I said delicious. Cost £20 magic

Very nice atmosphere in this restaurant. Pleasant, Nice and Polite staff. Would be better if they brought the bill to the table as people may be paying for their portion of the overall proportion of the bill. Would Recommend.

We went here with friends and spent a very pleasant evening. We decided not to go for the set menu but shared a platter of mixed starters which included chicken satay, spare ribs, prawn toast and spring rolls - all very good. Then we shared half an aromatic crispy duck and pancakes which was excellent. We chose our individual main courses and shared accompaniments of egg fried rice and singapore chow mein. I had beef in black bean sauce and my wife had scallops with ginger and spring onion. Our friends had a beef dish and a pork dish. We also had speciality ice creams for dessert and washed the whole thing down with two bottles of wine. At £32.50 each including a tip we all thought that this represented very good value indeed. The service was good and we spent a leisurely three hours at our table without being moved on as happens so often in Chinese restaurants. We'll definitely go again.

Very dissapointing. Dont usually go to this one but my usual one was closed. Ordered beef with ginger and spring onions special fried rice and curry sauce. When i got home and opened the beef dish i was greeted with a tray full of normal onions a few spring onions and a tiny portion of beef on top. So basically paid for a tray of onions all of which had no taste whatsoever. Very bland all round and the curry sauce had a very strange taste. No good. Very tight on meat in the dishes and the waiter very miserable. When i first went in to order had to wait for him to finish a conversation to one of his friends on the phone. No good at all.

We gave this restaurant another try as Drifters was so full there were no tables. The issue with this restaurant is that it is a very very popular take-away and although you think that you will get served quick as there are so few at the tables in fact there is often a long wait. When we arrived at 6.30 there was one other table of 6 people and they finished their meal by the time we had finished our starters of Crab and Sweetcorn soup which was hot and very tasty. We were then alone in the restaurant but still had a wait of about 20 minutes for our mains to come out. Quality is never in doubt here but speed of service continues to be so. There was a constant stream of people coming for their take-aways so the kitchen was very busy. I would suggest going on a day other than Friday or Saturday.

Nice food and good service. Definitely could do with an update on the decor though! Wallpaper peeling off walks and dusty plants etc.

We visited this place last year. It's a shame I didn't write a review then as we had forgotten how terrible it is.Our visit took place on a Monday night and we were the only people in the restaurant; that should have been clue enough!There is no atmosphere at all.The food finally arrived and it can only be best described as over cooked, from the noodles to my duck dish. The duck was like leather and I didn't finish it. You chewed on the egg fried rice my wife had ordered. Over cooked again.For two mains, three side orders (2 noodles & a rice), a starter (spring rolls) for three drinks, the bill came to £36. So it wasn't cheap either.We will not be going back again.

To save money, we always order the set menu, which means we get the Beijing duck as part of the meal, rather than expensively order it separately. The food is of a basic, good European take on real Chinese. I am not fond of that soup which arrives stuffed with sweet corn kernels and thickened with cornflour . . . so I usually push it to one side. But the other dishes are tasty, and when you begin with the duck and pancakes, the other dishes (chicken, beef, rice, or what have you) are nicely filling. The jasmine tea is good, too! A friendly little restaurant in Fakenham. But I have often been put off by the name, Hot and Cold! It could be interpreted in a variety of ways!

Me and my fiancé were in the area for our anniversary and fancied Chinese, saw this on here and thought to give it a go.Being a Saturday night it was fairly busy but not loud, people were also coming in for take away too. All the staff were friendly, and the food was fast, hot and delicious. Nothing more to ask for really. Price was good too, we had the hors D'oveurs, and 4 mains, 3 drinks with 1 beer for under £40. Given the quality I think it was well worth it. (tbf the hors were the most expensive part at £5.70 each)

We ate at the "Hot and Cold" on a Wednesday evening during our time there we were the only couple in along with one other gentleman eating on his own.There were however a constant stream of cars pulling up outside and people nipping in to pick up their take away orders.The service was quick and polite to the extreme, food was more than acceptable and all in all we had a very enjoyable evening.

On holiday in the area, looked on TripAdvisor and ended up choosing Hot and Cold. Don't be put off by the name or appearances outside or in. Service discreet but efficient and the food is very good. This isn't your high class Chinese, so expecting the exceptional isn't realistic but there's nothing wrong with it at all. We had set menu C and couldn't finish it - and good value at £19 each.
