Lotus House in North Norfolk

I am a visiting the area and I have to say it’s one of the best Chinese takeout I’ve had in a very long time. I would say it’s better than the one at home.

My favourite chinese ever!! Would 100% recommend wouldn’t be anywhere better too go x

Went in and the shop smelt awful, the man serving me was a nice guy but the food was horrible, most of my chicken looked undercooked and halfway through my meal I had to stop as I felt ill

After previously ordering Singapore noodles from here and other Chinese restaurants, I ordered the same thing today, and when I got it home was completely different to what I had before, and had prawns in, which I am allergic to. Rang to find out why it was different than beforehand, and was told I could return them for what I needed. When arrived back, was told it was my fault because I had ordered the wrong dish, and the manager was refusing to replace it. After her shouting and screeching in chinese from the kitchen, when I complained, I was told they would do it this once, but to not order the wrong thing in the future. No need to worry about that! I was treated so horribly, will not be returning there, even though we had started to become regular customers prior to today. They should make it clear on their menu, if they don't want people to order the wrong thing

Ordered food from here whilst staying in local area. Best Chinese takeout I have had for a long time. Great taste and good quality food. Highly recommended

I've been coming to Sheringham for many years now and I have always used this Chinese takeaway but this year, I ordered my meal and asked for extra garlic as I always have. They flatly refused, saying they never do that. I offered to pay extra and he abruptly said NO!! I will never use this place again.

My husband had a takeaway while on holiday. He shared the BBQ spare ribs they were dry but tasted good. He did moan about the spicy sweet and sour sauce from his dish not tasting like advertised which disappointed him. It may be to someone's taste but not ours.

Just eaten, starter was nice . Pancake roll, and spare ribs In sauce. Chicken curry, king prawns with mushrooms. One portion of boiled rice. Plenty for 2. £ 23 not bad priced.

The food is good, but you can't eat in - it's takeaway only.

Lotus house does consistently good food and wait times during busy periods are pretty good too. Only criticism is the included rice with Curry's is not a full size portion so beware. Be 5 stars from me if they changed this.

Surprised by some negative reviews, I ordered at the shop, served by a friendly gentleman, got the food in 10 minutes. That food ( mainly tofu items) were really delicious. Def using next time I'm in town

Loved it thanks guys the Monday we whent it was grate so good but we whent back for chips and sauce a cupple of times after and the sauce was watery and the bbq sauce was like they added vinagey the rest of the time don't no if diffend chief the rest of week just not Monday or what happend thanks tho

Bloody lovely. Extensive menu and tasty!

Waste of £35. Not sure how to describe it. Salty rubbish, is probably the best way, chicken chowmein, was dreadful, egg fried rice, seen more egg in a used egg shell, plain chow mein, was salty rubbish, deep fried crispy pork was oily, Salty and rubbery. The dry ribs were OK, salt & pepper chips were the best thing there. I could not recommend this place to anyone.

Food not bad but the non Chinese person who looked like she had been employed just to answer the phone is the most miserable person we have ever had the misfortune to meet. She was enough to put people off their food. Not helping the establishment.

Poor customer service, rude woman at counter. Ordered an hour before arriving and when did arrived asked for an update on when food would be ready and said we’re busy and wouldn’t give a time. Need to sort this regular awful service

I've been going to the Lotus House in Sheringham for 'take away' Chinese meals for over 20 years and never had a bad one yet - what more can I say except I have no connection other than being a satisfied customer

Awful. We had to wait a long time for our food because they didn't have what we originally ordered over the phone. That meant all the food they had already made us was cold when we got it. The food wasn't even tasty when we eventually got home to reheat it. My sweet and sour was very bland and the rice was undercooked.

Used to be the best Chinese in town. Slacking big time. Always late, poor customer service. Haven't had it in ages due to lack of quality, decided to give it a go tonight. Will not be using them again. I got hung up on, rude staff inside, other customers waiting 30+ minutes for food. It's unacceptable. Our food was 45 minutes late despite ordering over an hour and a half early, I'm aware its a saturday but don't accept orders if you cannot stick to them, food was poor. Will use the other Chinese in future.

Phoned 2 hours prior and order was ready on time. Very very tasty crispy duck. Can highly recommend.

Here on holiday for 2 weeks and used this chinese for most nights!! Excellent food and service The rice dishes are fab and my husband loved the hot and sour soup

Good food but shocking service. Ordered 1.5hrs out and it was still 40 minutes late with no real excuse given. Apparently they are like this every bank holiday so they really should be turning orders away if they're not going to resolve this. Oh, got the order wrong too. I'll be going elsewhere next holiday and would advise others to until they improve

We were on holiday here and ordered here on our first night. They said a 1 hour wait which ended up being another 30 mins of sat waiting in a tiny room full of people complaining about the food and wait times. Food was okay nothing to write home about.

We ordered our meal at 6.00pm for 8.00pm collection. Arrived just before 8.00 but had to wait until 8.30 for the food. During this time a number of customers were returning to collect items that had been missed from their order and others complaining about wait. Food was good but one item incorrect.

Just all around rude !! Full of attitude on the phone then , had no where to put my two SMALL dogs ,which are perfectly behaved . There is a huge wall between the kitchen and the customer , can't quite understand what the issue is !! Good is ok ! Nothing special.

Both my wife and I think this is probably one of the worst chinese meals we have had ever. It was totally lacking flavour of any kind and very disappointing indeed.

The place was clean. Up to date menu available. No delivery service but phone ace order and collect. A few parking spaces in front. Food delicious 😋

Very nice takeaway chinese especially when pubs are fully booked and you’re fish & chipped out! No, seriously, phoned an order for 6 persons through, ready in 15 minutes. All good, didn’t quite manage to finish it all. At £75 represents good value. All in a box plus usual containers to keep hot and carry home. Parking outside and they take credit cards!

This Chinese is tip top and I have always enjoyed the food they have served, staff are always friendly and the food is excellent always hot and tasty prices are very reasonable and all cooked to order very good will I be going back YES I will.

Food has improved greatly since my last visit.

First time for this takeaway chinise in Sheringham. Ordered a special chow mein for myself and a chicken chow mein for the wife. Mine was ok, but the chicken chow mein was only half full. Only filled with chicken and noodles, but no sauce, vegetables, ect. Very dry and the wife was not happy

This is easily the second best Chinese I've been to in Sherringham, and that's because I've only been to two. I can't explain how bad I though the food was, the best way I can describe it I suppose in one word, is "meh". The most basic of noodles they couldn't get right that's how terrible this place was.

Husband enjoyed his choice of Chinese food but sorry I wasn't impressed. Maybe I don't have a palate for foreign food.

As per previous review, absolutely terrible. Have never been served such a bland meal. Set menu for three, I think most had been simply reheated when only the rice and noodles tasted fresh and had flavour. Obviously just cooked. They don't care, weren't interested. As long as they get your money. Do not bother.

Best spare ribs in BBQ sauce the rest ain't bad either

We have ordered regularly from Lotus House over the years. Main meals can taste all the same and chicken be a bit rubbery but we have kept going there as staff were good even though the food quality is inconsistent... Normally the pancake roll and fried King prawn is good. Last meal we ordered the person on phone taking the order really bad and we had to keep repeating our order.When we picked up they said it was “new staff” Our food was horrible, king prawns batter undercooked, and then a beetle came out of one of the mains so we gave up eating. We will not risking this food again due to inconsistency and lack of confidence in standards now. Such a shame...

This is the 2nd visit to Sheringham and the 2nd visit here. Really good tasty food again. Crispy Chili Beef excellent but the S&S Chicken Balls are head & shoulders above the usual offering, light crispy and delicious. Good value into the bargain!!

Slightly different style from the chinese takeaways in Yorkshire but very nice. Pleasant and speedy service with covid measures in place for customers safety. We use this takeaway while on holiday at kelling every year. See you all next year, thanks!

Fantastic food, helpful staff. Needed a disposable fork as I was out working and they were happy to provide wooden cutlery. The food was absolutely delicious, will visit again next time in the area.

Lovely Chinese. Went for my usual sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style which was great. Chicken chow mein also good. Takeaway was ready in 30 minutes. Enough prawn crackers to feed a family.

We had two chicken chow meins with mixed sweet and sour balls. The meal was ready to collect when I arrived to pick it up,the food was hot and tasted fantastic.

on their take-out menu, they wrote "best Chinese take away" they are right. Crispy fried chicken, delicious!! Crispy fried shredded beef, delicious!! Roast pork chow mein, delicious!! Value for money, absolutely!! friendly service, absolutely!! If you're ever in Sheringham or nearby, this take-out is a must.

Arrived today and fancied a Chinese, but always wonder if it would be good, or bad not knowing otherwise. No worries the food was ace, did not take the estimated 25 minutes on a busy Saturday either. All dishes were very good, the shredded chilli beef was the best we've had. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but excellent

Great Chinese. Had all the usual dishes and all as expected. Even my girls who are usually picky liked it so it gets our vote!

Phoned our order from our holiday cottage in Upper Sheringham and it was ready to collect almost as soon as we arrived in Sheringham. The menu contained pretty much what you would expect at prices you would expect, and we particularly enjoyed beef in oyster and ginger sauce.

Excellent takeaway. It's difficult to choose with such a large choice on the menu!

Came here on holiday from a small city. The chow mein, prawn crackers, kung pao, chips and chicken nuggets were all delicious! Always worried about getting an unknown chow mein but this was definitely one of the best i’ve had! would recommend going if you’re looking for a Chinese

Lived in Sheringham 11 months and I'm kicking myself for not trying here sooner. Spring rolls, curry sauce, singapore fried rice, crispy duck in plum sauce, mixed veg. chow mein, stir fry beef with spring onions ginger and oyster sauce - all delicious. Generous portions. Shame they don't deliver but worth driving out to pick up. Already planning my next meal.

Very clean inside. Social distancing respected. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.

Had takeaways from here before, when staying in Sheringham, but took the hubby this time when visiting. He was very impressed with the shredded duck and sauce, in fact all the food was lovely, could not fault it. Service was friendly and did not have too wait long for the food. 🥰🤗 Will be back, next time we're in the area.

One of the best Chinese takeaway meals we have had for a long time. Very tasty, hot and despite being very busy,served quickly and efficiently. As a bonus,we had fun banter with locals and holiday makers while we waited outside to collect our meal. Very satisfied.

Here on Holiday and thought we would try this Chinese based on reviews!! And my god it was well worth it! Best Chinese I have ever had hands down! Amazing flavour, big portion sizes, piping hot food, great price and great service.....don’t hesitate this is the best one for miles around!!

We’ve been using this Chinese for years, every time we come to Sheringham. It would be nice for the guy taking the orders to make an effort and smile, rather than being an unresponsive, miserable member of staff.

Service was quick. Didn't order a great deal so can only compare to similar at other take aways. Did the job but not the best chicken balls I've had, more like rolls. Prawn crackers were nice.

Fast, courteous, tasty and good value. Singapore fried rice was excellent and a good foil to the Chinese chicken curry with boiled rice.

The food is of a consistently high standard, tasty and flavoursome. Only niggle is lack of starters on the menu but quality of the rest of the food makes up for it.

The chicken nuggets and curnel sand sauce is really good 😂
