The best restaurants in Forest Heath East of England

I was extremely disappointed with this takeaway. I ordered grilled dumplings that were extremely greasy and oily. I also ordered Peking beef with egg fried rice. It was dreadful, the beef was very tough, the peking sauce was very very sweet and thin and the rice was of very poor quality. I shouldn’t have eaten it because I got a stomach ache after. I went to pay with Apple Pay but they only accept cash or internet bank transfer, no biggie I suppose. On the menu it states ‘Dishes not listed in this menu are available on request’, so I enquired if they could make Pork and Prawn Dumpling (Siu Mai), and also Prawn Dumpling (Har Gow), they said they could not, something about chicken and no pork. I kind of felt a bit mislead by the statement on the menu. The food was over priced, no disabled access on door, (there is a step). Parking is poor because the drivers door opens directly onto the busy high street. And no courtesy prawn crackers with my meal. Tsk!

Food was good, service was great, my kid loved it. Chicken chow mein was yum, chicken skewers were juicy, gyoza was good. We will be eating here again.

First ever Five Guys Nice food but pricy

Used many times over the years, we definitely won’t b anymore. The chicken burger looked like a McDs hash brown. It also had very minimal salad slapped on the burnt bun. Other places give real chicken breast for a similar price, this was like an economy supermarket chicken burger. Chips were also partially cooked in the middle. Quality standards have severely dropped - this use to be our favourite, not anymore.

Love this hotel have been many times for unday lunch, very good service, wonderful staff Extensive menu, reasonably priced. Now closed for refurbishment.

Service is extremely slow and the staff is rude. They also refused to serve Pizza Mania without adding extra charges of Pan Pizza. This place is the worst Domino's Outlet, avoid visiting

Okay. Same trip: --man staff-member who took order super friendly and articulate, helped my friend's unruly kiddo settle down his excitement with some coloring crayons and a batman figurine. Really personable, but was not at front of house for long. --woman staff-member who delivered order, when she was told--after we ordered a second round of food--that the fries were way too salty and inedible, told us the 'trash is over there, feel free to throw it away.' Which, to me is inexcusable when we spent over £100 on coffees, drinks and various meals during our hour long stay in an empty restaurant. She could most definitely fry us up some .50 pence fries as a replacement. There was no other assault on her time. I don't know, I have very low standards for service workers. They have it hard enough, but my baseline is--don't be an ass. Her attitude was enough to make me feel so sorry for the other guy. A word to the hiring team--this woman is your downfall. Find another human who respects people, customer or not. If you're getting tons of complaints on the food/service--that's addressable. Address it. Oh. And don't order the avocado toast! It's dry toast, with nothing but poorly sliced avocado on top. No mashing, no spices, nothin'. We got it for the kiddos, and they didn't even want the toast. It was rough. Coffee was fine and the BLT was fine. Nothing else felt okay about this visit.

Extremely fast takeaway and you get tons of food! The majority of the time I have plenty of leftover for three next day.

Small but nice shop, the furnishings could use some updating. The nice woman at the counter was super friendly and was able to help us. The food was delicious and the portions are more than sufficient. Unfortunately you have to order the rice separately.

The 'carvery' is very poor, the veggies undercooked and clearly frozen roast potatoes. The chicken looked like a regular sized chicken from Tesco which meant tiny portions. The dining area was very dirty and obviously not seen a vacuum cleaner in a long time. Never again!

Staff not very friendly. Stopped off as it's part of the services on the route I was on and wasn't allowed to use the bathroom.

I tried using the air pump put one pound coin in i was told that it was £1.50 so i went to put another pound in to see if it would work it still didnt i pressed the white button and it would not give me my coins back the tire pump was not working properly it stole my money for no air i repeatedly asked the guy behind the counter to sort out a refund the guy didnt wanna know i had to walk out because i have anger issues and anxiety the guy behind the counter didnt seem to give a crap carried on serving other customers i had to walk out so i didnt act irrational and cause myself to get into trouble i will not be going to this garage ever again the staff does not seem to care about there customers at all the esso garage on the other side of the round about has quality service unlike this dump!

The food was bland and not at all what we were expecting, the safe were really nice and the atmosphere made me think of being back home in the U.S.

I had a lunch with friends and was astonished at the tiny size portion of my lunch. The Dayboat Stew consisted of a tiny amount of fish - a few prawns, one mussel and a small piece of salmon( I think! ) - with no additional vegetables or potatoes. Priced at £24 this was very poor VFM. When I mentioned my feedback to a member of staff they just laughed and said ‘haha a small lunch’. My friends had the roast beef with the beef seemingly having been microwaved. Very disappointing for a beautiful setting and an occasional that was special.
