The best restaurants in East of England

I've been there a few times great atmosphere beautiful items for sale...but really the Sandwiches and cake need to be more inviting

We attended on Xmas Eve. There were 9 of us and we had booked a table in advance. Upon entry it was clear they were not prepared for us as no table was set. After staff pushed three tables together and hurriedly fetched some napkins we were able to sit. This restaurant does not have an alcohol licence so you bring your own alcoholic drinks. Popadoms to begin and then straight to mains. We waited over an hour for our mains. When they arrived the food was good quality, tasty, hot and nice. When it came to the bill my party was paying with cash and card. A staff member came over and my wife asked for the card machine. He huffed, rolled his eyes and plodded off to get the machine. We had obviously inconvenienced him. Overall it was a nice meal which took a bit too long to serve and the staffs customer service left a lot to be desired. Sadly, although I enjoyed the food, I will not be returning again due to the staff rudeness and the delay in receiving our food. Those two issues spoiled an otherwise enjoyable night.

I'm a regular at The Angel. Service is impeccable, staff are friendly, hard working and amenable. Food cooked fresh with care and a diverse menu. I can not rate this place high enough.

Not sure how this place has the reviews it does, perhaps we got a bad turn. Overpriced, barely any meat in the dishes and poor service when enquired about the size of prawn toast portion

We booked Sunday lunch at the Crown Inn as we were visiting the area on holiday for Easter. It is a really beautiful building and quite a quirky layout. The pub was very busy and we had a slight wait for our table. The staff were all really friendly, very welcoming. Nice selection of wines and beers. Being dog friendly is a big bonus. The food was outstanding, one of the best roast dinners we have had in a long time and I was assured by the teens that the desserts were amazing. Would definatly book if in the area again.

Works do, about 10 of us. Friendly and welcoming. Comfy and clean. Good selection of beers and broad selection of food on the menu. Our table had a mixture of burgers, mixed grills and pizza. All served hot and at the same time. The pizza was really, really good. Wonderful base and lovely toppings - I only intended to eat half as it was huge but ended up clearing my plate. Look forward to returning, we're looking to get out more and sort out somewhere for Christmas to. Would happily return with work colleauges or family. Good value to. Zero hesitation in recommending you give this place a visit.

Actually been driving past this place for years...big mistake, fish and chips was on point, loads of other food options, kids had pizza, chicken nuggets, and didn't leave a crumb!

Not had a curry for a whole from Olive Had a takeaway last night Still the best in the area I think Chicken shashlik portion was huge (and tasty) My green chilli chicken dish was lovely Only minor negatives for me were Matar paneer needed more cheese for me Likewise, the cheese and chilli naan wasn’t very cheesy Wasnt sure if the Bhajis needed a bit longer in the frier? Enjoyable nonetheless

Great food and the staff are really helpful and friendly, the best Indian restaurant in Mildenhall. We always come here when friends visit

Took a while to get through on the phone to place an order for delivery but pleased we persisted. The website is very poor but luckily we had a flyer so knew what they offered. Told the price and how long before it would be delivered. Arrived a little early. The food was obviously freshly cooked, very adequate portions and excellent. Different fish not labelled so differentiating between the cod and haddock was guesswork. Surprised they only accept cash-could lose the business as not everyone has cash in the house. Wish them well and will be back.

Just an update. The Bull Inn in Whitwell, Hertfordshire is only Closed during the refit. It’s planned to reopen on the 30th August 2024 😃

A firm favourite. Great breakfast and lovely people working there. Well done.

Food ok but cafe noisy with music and staff talking loudly and swearing making it difficult for customers to communicate with each other. Not a relaxing environment at all.
