Not been there before but decided to pop in for lunch, mainly as it’s dog friendly. What a great place! A lovely old barn with a garden (dogs allowed in both). The staff were friendly and the food was very special. I had poached eggs on toast with bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the whole plate was delicious. My husband had pork 3 ways on toast which came with a little pot of olives and he said the same. It was by far the best food that we’ve had around here. Not the cheapest but the quality of the food definitely warranted that bit extra.

Appalling customer service, I booked a family lunch for my mother's 84th birthday a week in advance. I got a phone call 40 mins before our Booking to be told they would be closed for work to be done, leaving me hardly any time at all to find somewhere else with space for five and a very disappointed mum. Could they not have called first thing in the morning? Extremely annoyed.

Juniper Barn has reopened early in 2024 under new management. It combines a café with a small shop selling produce, baked goods and cheese. The menu includes a number of all-day breakfast options plus some other hot and cold dishes. It is not your average café fare, and it could be described as 'fussy'. We had a breakfast 'Hodgepodge' which comprised a bowl of chopped-up bacon, sausage, black pudding etc., topped with a fried egg. It was tasty but priced comparably with a typical 'full English'. There were few other items that sounded appealing, so I don't think we will return.

My wife and I drove past during a day out and thought we'd pop in as it looked nice from the outside. We stood waiting for someone to seat us for a while. There was only 1 other table in use, a lady was cooking in the kitchen and another woman with her back to us at a computer (we later found out she was the owner) When we were finally seated we were given dirty menu's covered in food and pen and were told half the stuff on there wasn't available. We both ordered a full english which had 1 slice of toast, 1 egg, some extremely undercooked bacon but incinerated sausages and a tiny portion of beans and mushrooms, for almost £10 I was actually expecting a full english! Our food arrived before our drinks as the woman who took our order (same woman at the computer) spent so long talking to a couple and fussing their dog that she forgot to do our drinks. At one point a man came in with a load of shopping in tesco bags, the lady put the bread and some vegetables on the display at the front of the cafe. Hang on a minute, the menu says the bread is Artisan?! It came from tesco bakery! A little while later we heard the lady talking to people about how she grows her own vegetables (the ones from tesco) My wife and I did stay longer than we would have liked to simply because we couldn't quite believe the behaviour. It was strangely entertaining. The cafe is in a lovely setting and has so much potential if it was staffed and ran correctly but this lady seems to be fooling her customers into believing this place is something it's not.

If you search through at first it appears either to be open all the time or as six people said yesterday that they had found that it was open Tuesday to Saturday from the internet so had turned up on Tuesday. Two were walkers and four were cyclists. A chalkboard outside said that it was open from Wednesday to Saturday. As it's a quiet location and reasonably out of the way, if six people were disappointed yesterday, how many others have been disappointed before and unlikely to return. It was more of an effort for the walkers than the cyclists who decamped to Saxmundham. The website needs updating

Disappointing visit today, we didn't get a warm welcome as we would have enjoyed in the past. I asked for some cake to be told sorry we have no cake, just cheese scones, fruit scones or a sausage roll. How do you run a coffee shop with no cake? We Settled for a latte and a cheese scone each , the latte was luke warm and the scone was warmed in the microwave so it fell apart when I tried to butter it with the miniscule knob of fridge cold butter provided. No board up to show what coffees are avaliable now or how much they cost. The menu only mentioned the cooked food so no idea what else they offered, teacakes etc, you had to catch her eye to ask, I wanted a second coffee but had to go the the counter to ask as no one came round to clear plates and ask if we wanted anything else. The shop was slightly better stocked this time but still very lacking on the fresh chilled food we used to be able to buy. All in all a very disappointing visit and I am afraid I won't be back.

Juniper Barn has changed hands and sadly things seem to have gone downhill. The menu gives very little information so if you want to know what comes with a Full English Breakfast you have to ask and are then told you can also add 2 additional items to your breakfast included in the price but even with that it is not a very "Full" english it is actually rather small and stingy. Also if you want it Gluten Free you need to order in advance so no impromptu breakfasts for Coeliacs! On my last visit none of the staff were wearing masks so they do not seem to have any desire to protect themselves or their customers, the owner spent a long time making a fuss of another tables dog and then went and took plates of food to the table - no hand washing inbetween. When I went to the till to pay for our meals I had to wait for nearly 5 minutes before I was acknowledged even though they were not busy, in fact staff were chatting (and making a fuss of the dog) rather than taking my payment. Even when I was acknowledged I did not receive an apology for keeping me waiting. This venue has so much potential and maybe my recent visits (I have been there more than once this month) have caught them at a bad time but sadly I don't think I will be back in a hurry.

Once considered it worth the drive, but the past two visits have been disappointing - a long wait for the food (breakfast), and then when it came, the bacon and black pudding were cooked to a frazzle. Seeing the bacon go in to the oven to be kept warm is never good. Been here many times, family run hotel that puts the major hotel chains to shame. First class food, staff excellent as usual, rooms have been and are being refurbished to a high standard, lounge areas very comfortable, open fires in the bar and one of the lounges, can't see anything to complain about

This is my sons favourite place in the world. He loves the waffles (now he has got used to the new style ones). He loves sitting in and all the staff we have encountered are so lovely. Be patient. All is made from scratch and they can be very busy. Worth the wait

We decided to pop in for a drink ,my partner went to the bar and I went to the toilet ,10 mins later my partner still at the bar not been acknowledged woman sat behind the bar not looking at him and what looked like the manager talking to some people ,fair enough if you can't serve say so or if your talking just say you will be a minute. They were so rude and ignorant maybe if we had been stuck up people he may have looked at us ,but we are just normal. One to avoid

If you want smashed avocado on sourdough with pea shoots and other unnecessary greenery then this cafe is not for you. But if you want the best quality full English, fresh unfussy honestly presented British and local food then you’re in the right place. Always a warm welcome, seriously tasty local food, simply cooked and unpretentiously presented. Today’s special were some seriously big juicy scallops which I had with my full English and they were an inspired combination and very popular. Thanks Sean for another outstanding breakfast. Keeping consistent standards like this is a real labour of love but it shines through in the food. Lovely breakfast and not an avocado in sight. PS a ‘greasy spoon’ this is not!
