This is a local pub and I enjoy it. But I called on a Monday and was told last orders was 22:15 be out by22:30 but the website said open till 23:00. It makes it difficult for people who work shifts or long hours when establishments do not keep to advertised hours ( they are not the only ones) but a very nice place other than that.

The Admiral is a superb independent pub. Small but perfectly formed as they say. Lovey food, choice of ales and lager. Music last Friday of the month, the best fish and chips every Friday. Plus a beer festival with bands and other events. My wife loves it as it seems to be a place groups of girls,/ women can go, relax and join in the traditional pub atmosphere.

After reading the reviews we went here on the off chance for Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. We went very early as we didn't know if we could get in. We were very lucky to get a table as most of the tables were reserved. There were only 2 meats to choose from, pork or beef. There were 2 of us so we had one of each. The portions are huge. Loads of meat and very fresh vegetables. Carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, mashed Swede, roasted parsnips, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. We will definitely go back and try the fish and chips on a Friday. Lovely staff. Really cosy with the fire going too. Would recommend.

Once again, our Delivery Boys’ Review this month is a Takeaway Special! Although we can’t wait to eat out, we are absolutely loving the takeaway option at the moment. Last month, driving through Clifton, we spotted a large banner outside The Admiral, Clifton pub proudly stating, ‘Clifton Village Fish & Chip Shop @ The Admiral, Clifton, Every Friday’, this sounded very tempting, so we decided to give it a go. Once home, we headed straight to the pub’s Facebook page (@theadmiralclifton1) where it was easy to locate the menu and ordering instructions. Ordering is easy, simply call 01462 811069 with your menu choices and card payment. To avoid disappointment make sure you book in advance as collection and delivery slots are limited. Onto the food… John decided to order Haddock and Chips with mushy peas and Kate (John’s wife) chose the Steak and Ale Pie with chips, garden peas and gravy. We booked a 6.30pm pick-up slot at the pub. Collection was quick and easy, efficient and seamless. The pick-up area is at the back of the pub, lots of space, so very easy to maintain covid-safe distances. We waited all of 2 mins and our food was brought out to us in a nice, posh paper fish & chip bag. Once home, the food was still hot, each meal very well presented in its own box. Onto the eating… the meals were delicious! The fish was huge and tasted amazing, faultless in every way, and came with perfect chips. Most importantly, the haddock was cooked just right, perfectly fried with crispy batter, the fish itself was nice and moist with just the right amount of flakiness. I was hugely impressed. The meal also came with a buttered bread roll, just in case you fancied a chip butty. The Steak & Ale Pie can only be described as a proper, traditional pie. Square in shape, thick-crust pastry, cooked to perfection and inside there was a rich filling with chunky pieces of melt-in-the-mouth steak, splendidly complemented with the chips, peas and gravy sauce. Good quality takeaway pub food is difficult to perfect, but The Admiral does it very well indeed, successfully producing gourmet pub meals to eat at home. October 2021 will mark seven years of successful tenure at The Admiral, Clifton for pub landlord John Goodhew. The Admiral, an Original Beer House pub is scheduled to reopen on Monday 17th May following lockdown. John & team have been providing the takeaway service for the pub’s popular Fish & Chip Shop Night every Friday during lockdown, it has proved to be very successful.

Visited for coffee and cake, apparently this has been taken over recently so the current service does not seem to reflect the previous reviews on this site. We waited for ages for a couple of coffees and cake to be brought over, was also pretty smoky in there from whatever was cooking. Plus point was that the cakes we had were really nice, the coffee was nice but lukewarm and the 15 minutes it took to get them wasn't great. Also, some of the décor is a bit worn out. The place was not busy when we visited mid-morning so could really do a lot better.

We went for breakfast and really enjoyed it. Our breakfast cost £14 which included a drink. The hot chocolate was delicious and food was lovely with great variety. Only thing we would say, the breakfast would benefit from some maple syrup/butter for the waffle in particular. The man that served us was lovely. Thank you.

Nice place to stop on walk around Woburn deer park. Good beers, great sausage rolls and other bar snacks. Not the cheapest and service can be very slow at times, but it is still a lovely place to stop.

Were not allowed to sit down inside because "we can push tables closer". There were more free tables than taken.

Hot & cold drinks, bacon / sausage sandwiches, excellent sausage rolls (very good quality) pastries etc Lots of outside seating, geared towards cyclists there are bicycle racks and a sales / repair shop on site. The owner is friendly and it seems very popular as lots of cyclists came and went while we were there. Would definitely visit again when I’m next in the area.
