Read all good reviews online so tried here whilst visiting the local area. My husbands started came out practically cold, my starter was tasteless .
My husband has vinderloo main which he said was nice. I had tikka masala main and it was pretty tasteless and basic too.
The service we can’t fault, except they were almost too fast. We had only been in there 5 minutes max and we had a waiter at the table asking if we were ready to order; before our drinks had arrived. Staff were all friendly and smiley.
The place in general clean and tidy, but a strong smell of toilet as soon as you walk in the door isn’t too pleasant.
With Southend having limited options for halal dining, this is a good choice. The experience the first time I visited was a nice. The food is decent, and the staff on shift were very friendly and welcoming, leaving me wanting to come back.
However, my second visit was less impressive. I went with a group of 15 to celebrate my brother's birthday, and the server seemed visibly irritated, both in his facial expressions and tone of voice. Despite this, I wouldn't discourage others from visiting, as the server might have just had a bad day.
Overall, I think it's worth trying for a casual meal.
Booked the Circle of Life afternoon tea for my 7 year old granddaughters birthday treat. Having been several times previously I knew that it would be a great experience and I was not wrong. We all had a wonderful time, including my other 18 month old granddaughter who was accommodated in a high chair and munched through her sandwiches and cake very happily. The staff even took the time to light a birthday candle for the birthday girl which was a lovely touch. She's already asking what the new theme will be that she can go to. Mummy, Daddy and Grandma will be very happy to oblige.

Lovely pub and exceptional food. Two different menus at the time of going - one called “ 48.5 miles” which has food sourced locally from with a 48.5 mile radius of the kinda head.

First time here and Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not your typical India restaurant. Definitely bought the Southern influence to the table. An extensive menu. Great service and very reasonable priced. Highly recommend
With a second attempt on the day - we managed to get a table for 2. First time we called half an hour before we wanted to try this restaurant, with no surprise now it was all fully booked. Half year later we called early morning and there was a free table.
Heard rumours how good and how tasty the food is at Cherry Tree. And I can’t recommend this places enough. The service was amazing - you walk in a little waiting area, they offer you a drink then introduce you to the menu and then you order. Once your drink is finished they take you to your table and food comes quite quickly. They come and check if you’re happy with everything and you don’t have to wait between courses, pretty much as soon as you are finished they come and offer you your next meal.
We took our time and enjoyed every second of it and we spent nearly 2 hours in this lovely restaurant.
Food 10/10
Service 10/10
Atmosphere 10/10
Definitely coming back!
Thank you team Cherry Tree 🙏
Faith in humanity restored! Vegetarian/vegan or not, the food is genuinely outstanding! My boyfriend and I both had the gnocchi which was recommended to us, honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The staff are so caring and friendly and make you feel so welcome and comfortable. The beautiful loft setting filled with plants and pretty lights makes for a memorable evening. This is quickly becoming our favourite place to eat!
The prices are marked up on GoGetters app which is frustrating.
You can save £5-10 by going to collect for takeaway instead. Its obvious that GoGetters are taking money of them so they have upped the prices. Ridiculous. Just move off the app and prioritise your loyal customers.
Fries are pricey at a fiver but you do get a large portion. Would be good if they offered a smaller portion for solo diners.

A large pub, a good choice on Matchdays. Has a large greenhouse effect room which was very warm, but lovely side rooms as well. Plenty of ales and different styles to try. A great pub.
