If you're looking for a good greasy breakfast and a massive portion.
Look no further than the Tudor cafe. This place is amazing, with great customer service and great food.
The price is amazing for what you get, set one set to set 3 the food is brilliant.
Really friendly and welcoming. They heated my pain au raisin in the microwave! which I’m not sure did it any favours. But they were trying to go the extra mile which was very much appreciated and I will definitely return and would recommend others to try this little personable cafe out.
We’ve visited The Punch Bowl many times, as it’s just 10 minutes away from us, and it’s always been a nice pub in the past. Unfortunately, something has changed, and it’s not for the better. Upon arrival, we were met with stares from the locals, almost as if we were being judged on whether we were ‘worthy’ of being there.
Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a cramped table in the corner, right by the serving door, which was kicked open into my chair. The table had originally been set for three, but it was hard to see how it would’ve worked comfortably for any diner being so close to the door. There were other tables available, including one with just young children at it, so it felt unnecessary to place us where we were.
The food was okay, but it no longer felt like good value for the price. Additionally, we were charged for a drink we didn’t order, though it was promptly removed when we pointed it out. All in all, this community pub no longer lives up to what it once was.
Our first but not last visit.
Great ambiance with owner playing vinyl LPs.
My choice was the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, Jo’s choice kedgeree.
Both were presented well and tasted even better.
I went there early afternoon this past Sunday. Unsurprisingly it was busy not not overly so for a mother's day. Customer service was non existent rather than bad. I did not see any staff member acknowledge anyone in the long queue. Not even a hello, apology for the delay or even something radical like offering the menu to look at. I gave up after being ignored for 20 minutes. Either the staff don't care about customers or need training. Not sure what the 3 members of staff behind the bar were actually doing!
The fish was freshly fried, the batter was crispy, the chips were good and the peas were delicious. The staff was friendly. Thank you and really nice to meet you.
We picked up a meal deal in the early morning then had lunch there later. Friendly staff and good food. Very well priced. The sandwiches on granary bread were stuffed full of filling and the bread was fresh, soft and just gorgeous. The lentil and bacon soup was wonderful too. Highly recommended. Support small local businesses and give the expensive pubs a miss. 😊
Came for Sunday lunch today. Not sure we'd go back though . Food was nice but very slow service between starters and main. And so cold in there that we kept our coats on. Shame as we were really looking forward to trying it. Perhaps a summer visit would be better and more choice on menu other than roasts. Maybe.......
