The Sitting Room in North Norfolk

Delicious scone/jam/cream, and deeply tasty coffee. Best cappuccino I have had for some time. Good GF awareness but portions of these, although delicious (plum and apple tart) seemed quite small for not cheap prices.

We were lucky to find this small gem, popular with locals, might have to book next time! Excellent service and ambiance.

We stumbled across the sitting room in Sheringham quite by chance and so glad we did. Fabulous coffee, exceptional pastries and delicious cheese scone - all homemade. Quite superb!!! We will be back !

Dropped in for lunch with friends on Bank Holiday Monday, it was not busy ( perhaps this should have rung alarm bells when most other placesc were very busy) the menu was very limited, we had to order at the till, we were told there would be a 15 mins wait for our wraps and sandwiches, the hot drinks probably arrived after 15 mins, but the food was another 30 minutes. The food when it arrived was not of high quality. Overall very dissapointing compared to previous visits

Ordered coffee sat outside it started to rain went in side with the dog they said no dogs in side and we would have to sit out side in the rain

Was keen to see what it was like since the change in ownership recently. Great coffee and atmosphere, but £9 for a cheese and ham toastie made with processed ham and supermarket white pre-sliced bread? I could have made this myself (and it would have been 10x better). Pastries are fresh but won't be ordering prepared food again. A nice spot otherwise.

Nice coffee and pastry……. Was hoping for a continental breakfast as per the website and reviews, however the place has changed owners and no longer does this.

Only had a sausage roll. Huge. Really nice and filled a gap. Best green tea in sheringham and elsewhere. I drink a lot of green tea and this was seriously good.

We go there for the best tea in town, made with real tea not tea bags. The cheese scones are delicious.

This is the best cafe in North Norfolk by far! Lovely staff, friendly, polite and very helpful. A nice warm welcome from the family run business in lovely comfortable surroundings creating a relaxed atmosphere with excellent coffee, cakes and pastries. Will definitely return as soon as possible.

Recently changed hands and feels like it's improved. Coffee is still good. Prices at the high end but not unreasonable, same as many places. Friendly atmosphere and lots of seating.

This is the place to book in advance to sit and enjoy a real afternoon tea . .You are provided with a box to take leftovers home. The food is nicely presented and the 2nd course of rich cakes can be a challenge .Enjoy atea of many calories

When we were on our first holiday as a family with our 4 month old son. Unfortunately on our last night my partner was taken to hospital with kidney stones and check out of our cottage was 10am. After checking out, my little boy needed changing and feeding again before our trip to Norwich A&E to go and wait for my partner so I went to the sitting room to get a coffee hoping to feed him and change him at the same time. The lady’s were so nice and kind and couldn’t have done enough for us. Thank you so much for everything that you all did to make the situation we were in so much easier. I appreciate your help and will be coming back for a coffee again in the summer.

Blooming excellent. Try the unlimited toast that you can do at your table with your own toaster. Had selection of bread crumpets muffin and fruit bread with various jams marmalade and lemon curd. Will definitely be back. The owner is lovely too

Well run and homely, run by staff who care about the customer. We had the cranberry and brie panini, with an excellent cappuccino coffee, the best made we have had in Norfolk. Nice to go somewhere that pride is taken serving the customer. Look forward to returning next year!

Was looking for somewhere to have lunch on a very busy day during school holidays, and found this friendly little café just round the corner from the clock tower. It's in a lovely old building and has an outside seating area. Very homely inside with traditional decor, comfy chairs and some nice pictures on the wall. Although the café was busy, I managed to get a small table near the counter. The two young men who were serving were both courteous and helpful. I ordered the Cornish pasty with salad, but there were also sausage rolls, vegetarian quiches and other light snacks available as well as some yummy looking cakes. Did not have to wait too long for my pasty and it was really good quality, piping hot, tasty and filling. Had a nice pot of loose tea, served with a china cup and a strainer. Payment was with card only, and prices were very reasonable. A most satisfying lunch! Would come here again if I return to Sheringham.

The Sitting Room is my very favourite tea room in Norfolk, wonderful staff, beautiful atmosphere and great tasting coffee. The food is superb but I am particularly impressed with their cheese scones. Light and tasty but what sets them apart is that they actually taste of cheese.

We went here for afternoon tea for my mums birthday. We had a wonderful time, the tea selection was just lovely & well as the two different plates we had both sweet & savoury. The staff were all friendly & so helpful. I would 100% recommend as it was on par with Betty’s of York afternoon tea.

We went for an afternoon tea for our Grandmas birthday and went in beforehand to pay and let them know it’s going to be for her birthday. They said they would make it really special and they did! Really lovely selection of cakes and sandwiches and the scones were lovely as well. They sung to her and made it really nice for us, would definitely recommend.

We live locally and popped in for a coffee a couple of days ago for the first time, wow what a lovely place it was like being in our own sitting room ☺️ the ambience and surroundings were so nice, relaxing and soothing. I think the place attracts certain clientele as well making it even more nice 😃 The coffee was fantastic and the almond croissant was the best I have ever had, we certainly be visiting again! Fantastic place. Great food and excellent service. I had the cornish pasty delicious. My boyfriend had the brie and onion chutney. We were so surprised and delighted to see balsamic vinegar on the table instead of the cheap sauces. Lovely touch. My boyfriend had the cappuccino, which he said was one of the best coffees he had had. Loose tea is so good 👍. We had the chocolate and cherry slice. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended.

This was my first time visiting sheringham and popped in for some lunch with a friend, we were greeted with a warm welcome! There were lots of food options to chose from, the coffee and brie and cranberry toasty was lovely! Would definitely like to try the afternoon tea. Will 100% be returning!

Unfriendly and definitely not dog friendly. We were abruptly told to sit outside and someone would come take our order (there was only one table of 2 people inside). After waiting 10 mins nobody bothered to come so we just left. Upon speaking to other locals we were advised to avoid The Sitting Room anyway. Thankfully, Google reviews allow the bad apples to be called out for what they are. Avoid this rude behaviour and go elsewhere as there are plenty of better restaurants in the locality.

Booked an afternoon tea for my in-laws as a Christmas treat. They were made to feel so welcome and special; nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious with all dietary needs catered for. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable experience.

Christian was amazing, they had run out of fruit scones so they baked fresh ones for us to take away, we had Red, White & Rose wine while we waited all of which were fantastic. The scones were incredible. This was Customer service at its best and anytime we are in Sheringham we will definitely return. Thank you Christian x

Webste states gluten free options are available. When we were seated at the table and given the menu we asked about gluten free options. No main course savoury dishes were available , its crazy to think the only choice for a coeliac is cake! We left without eating!!

I really like the sitting room. The menu is varied and I like how they have nice little added touches to make it a bit more special. I don’t like coffee myself but they have a good range of other drinks. The music is nice, comfy and cosy seating, great service. I’m not sure where the comments about the owners being arrogant come from? Maybe you get what you give! Lovely little place, I recommend you try it!

Beautiful cakes and patisserie, really good coffee and amazing selection of other beverages too. My other half had Chai tea! All the savoury food looked lovely, but didn't try on this occasion. Would like to though, on another visit. Seating outdoors and indoors. Would thoroughly recommend.

Never been to a place and spoken down to by the most pompus Arrogant owner , he has no regard to anyone above him self , as a local in which he counts on in the winter months we will not be visiting this over rated greasy spoon , and encourage other locals to do the same

Booked an afternoon tea for my partners 60th . Really impressed. I had posted balloons asking if they could put them up which they did. Lovely food. So many sandwiches, two huge scones and lots of smaller cakes . Really good value for money and the staff were very nice . A very enjoyable experience

We were looking for a light lunch in Sheringham and didn't really fancy a pub so thought we would try The Sitting Room. It is slightly off the beaten track although we have noticed it before but never been in. What a lovely find! I really liked the quirky 'shabby chic' style and the mis-matched vintage cups and saucers. We got a large pot of tea to share and the tap water was chilled. There is a decent choice of food and everything we had was really good. Prices were affordable: I added a good sized side salad to my toasted sandwich for a very reasonable £1.50p. Service was friendly and efficient and the staff are lovely. I would definitely go back and would unhesitatingly recommend a visit.

I went to the Sitting Room today because I like the coffee and ambience but when I went to payi I was left shaking with indignation as they would not accept my cash. As a pensioner I felt discriminated and hurt. This the first place I have come across in N Nfk that has refused cash!

Lovely place, Lovely staff & service was excellent. Had a lovely coffee & tea however we had a bacon roll each which was £4.30 & only one rasher of bacon in each, which tasted nice but 2 rashers would have been better bacon to bread...

Was expecting more..... Waited 15 mins after sitting no one took our order so went to the till and placed it ourselves. Tea and just hot coffee arrived 10 minutes later was told toasted fruit bread was on it's way it never arrived. On settling the bill which seemed a little high just about got an apology will not be returning Macarons were delicious if very small for a pound each

Stopped here on a Thursday afternoon with the hope of getting a coffee and cake. Looked lovely from the outside with seating inside and out. We were greeted by a young man who was incredibly rude, I asked for a table of 6 to sit outside, to be told, they do not have any tables of 6 and they do not move tables and chairs. There were plenty free and only one other person outside. Very disappointing that you cannot cater for larger families. We went on to find somewhere else.

Favourite place for a coffee when in Sheringham. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Great selection of cakes. Lovely setting.
