The best restaurants in East Midlands

My husband and I had our wedding reception here. We had a lovely time and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Our guests complimented the food saying it was delicious. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day and would like to thank Lynne and the team for all their help throughout the day and leading up to it.

Great coffee and service. A much better alternative to Starbucks - where you get charged almost double for an uncomfortable seating area and bitter tasting coffee - and where the staff haven’t got the time to be as attentive.

It was yummy..and good value. We would buy again once in a while, just not blown away by it.

Service was quick and efficient and food was ok. Seating was cramped, though, and it was very noisy. Toilet was awful.

Great venue, will definitely go again

They have lost the edge. Prices have shot up but their food has changed in taste. No more the old tasty doner either. People will be put off over time if they don't wake up. Chips were half cooked which I have never experienced with them in the last few years. Used to love them but frankly now looking for an alternative.

This was a random- let's go for a pub lunch - it worked so well. The welcome was very warm and friendly. We had Chicken, a burger and fish and chips. Being a frequent visitor to Whitby and there fantastic fish and chips I'm always a bit cautious- but these were superb. In fact all main were great. So much so we followed up with desserts - again hitting every spot you could want - delicious and all polished off. Doggy friendly with treats for them too. An unexpected and delightful lunchtime.

Clean, quiet and comfortable as always

Great hotel, clean and recently refurbished. Staff were very nice and helpful.

We booked in advance as we'd heard great things about this restaurant. When we turned up Saturday 5th April that couldn't find our booking but we're able to accommodate us. The food was disappointing, even though it was marked as mild it was very hot, I couldn't eat mine. The atmosphere was spiked by the fire alarm going off and no one seemed to be able to turn it off, after about 20 minutes we left. We wouldn't be rushing back

I've been out with my friends and we really enjoyed it! Nice place and food; the waitress, Kadar, made our night excellent! You must give it a try!

We booked a table for 5 people and everyone was really happy with their meal . The portions are big and priced reasonably and the steaks are bloody delicious!! The service and atmosphere were spot on and will definitely book again . 10/10

We were in Buxton for my birthday and had planned on eating Italian at night. In the afternoon we spotted a little cocktail bar so called in for drinks. What a welcome ! The owner immediately offered us the cocktail menu and found us a seat in the busy bar area. Decor was wonderfully French - interesting pictures. We liked the place so much we asked about eating in the evening. We managed to book the last table! When we came to leave we asked for the bill for our cocktails - given that we are not from Buxton and were unknown to them, we were amazed when the owner said not to worry, he’ll add them to the evenings bill ! The evening meal was wonderful- we had the Moroccan sausage & the lamb in a chilli jam. Both excellent! Service was great, atmosphere wonderful. What stood out for us was that it was as far removed from a chain restaurant as it could be - very personal and friendly, noisy in a good way - just the chatter of diners ! Absolutely loved that there was no “piped” inane music playing. A great evening - we will definitely return.
