Brilliant Turkish restaurant in Hinckley. Went to Anfield to watch the game, then back home to Watford. Feeling peckish so googled restaurant’s halfway between the 2 destination and this is perfect for dinner or lunch. The food was exceptional and the staff super friendly - shout out to Piash who was excellent and made us very welcome at the restaurant. Started off with fresh bread with home made chilli sauce (amazing) and garlic. Then mix hot mezze, fresh and tasty. Special grill which comes with a mix of meat - chix wings, lamb ribs, chix and lamb shish, chix beyti, rice & bulgar wheat. The marinade was spot on and meat was cooked to perfection. Chix was moist and the lamb just melted in your mouth. For a Sunday evening the atmosphere was chilled out whilst still busy so you could still relax with family and enjoy the food. Hats off to the chefs, keep up the good food, will be coming back here if I’m near the area. Little gem 👍🏽

Just happened to be in the area and fancied some Turkish food. The place looked a bit dull and run down upon arrival, the staff were attentive. It is a shame that they don’t have a large mixed grill sharing platter for two people, as I asked a member of staff and they pointed to this small mixed grill which is only for one person. The food was nice especially the lamb chops & pide but extremely small portions of meat. Remeber - if you’re using the back car park to put your registration in at the desk to avoid a parking fine.

Nice food, was in the week so expected it to be quieter anyway but music kept jumping around which I presume was someone’s phone which was not very relaxing. Both doors are left open which makes it feel quite cold. Staff were good, cocktails were a bit watery. Potentially an extra cocktail course would help!

I have never been so insulted in all my life, we as a family love turkish food and to come here and order a special mixed grill and only be given one chunk lamb shish and 2 chunks of chicken shish, day light robbery we will not be returning, salad and rice was half the size compared to when we came a few months ago

Food: nicely presented, lamb and dips were tasty. Other elements like chicken were a little disappointing and lacked flavour. The platter is good value for the money. Atmosphere: relaxed, nicely decorated and warm. Service: attentive enough but I would say only average. Other: Rating would have been higher had the staff made it clear that you have to input your car registration into a machine to avoid a £60 parking charge from a third party parking management company. But there was no mention of this or even a sign that I saw. Considering all of the above I won’t bother returning.

First time visiting the Sumac Grill which certainly did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, good menu and excellent service. A special mention to our server “Kader” who was truly outstanding. If you are seeking a restaurant that offers something a little different then head over as you won’t be disappointed.

We were staying in Hinckley for one night and chose to go here for dinner due to the overall high ranking. Turkish cuisine is a family favourite, so we regularly visit our local Turkish restaurants. As a family of 4( 2 young children who don't have big appetites) we always order 2 mains and some other Mezze, but we usually end up bringing some left overs home as I also don't have a big appetite either. We ordered 1 main, one Lahmajun and one set menue here, when the food came out, I was shocked at the portion sizes as it looked like they were starter sizes and not mains! We straight away realised the food wasn't going to be enough so ordered another main. OMG that was also tiny when it arrived! We finished everything on our plates and to be honest didn't feel that full up either! Food did taste alright but considering the prices the portions were small. Staff were very polite and the atmosphere was nice. But I don't understand how they think it's acceptable to serve such small portions for these prices, it's just disgraceful! If I am ever back in Hinckley, I sadly won't be going back to Sumac again as I don't think afer spending £69 on dinner, you should still feel pekish when you get back home! Again this is a family of 4 who usually can't finish 2 food portions all together!

My husband and I went to Sumac grill because of the overall high ratings but I was very disappointed. The atmosphere was on point, the staff were very helpful and friendly but a big no for the food(and it's very expensive). We ordered a House Special, their kebab was the hardest I've had from all the Turkish restaurants I've been to. Chicken wings looked good but the taste was zero. Lemonade was just sprite with no taste of lemon. It was only the lamb chops that were good. In all, I wouldn't go here again nor would I recommend it to anyone since there are much better Turkish restaurants with value for money.

This is my favourite place. Best Turkish food I’ve had. The food is always great and often induces a happy dance from me after eating. The staff are lovely. MASSIVELY recommend.

I love it here, we are regular travellers to Turkey and the food here takes me straight back. The staff are always very friendly. The food is absolutely delicious and plentiful. Looking forward to our next visit xx

I went in on my own for a table of five whilst waiting for my family, I was told no tables were available, whilst going back to my car, my wife went in and got the table no problem, I asked why they said there were no tables in at the time empty restraunt, and the answer I did not really understand, but the food was nice as always, it's a shame as it was our favourite restraunt where we always take people who visit us, but we shall not be returning.

We'd previously had take out from Sumac Grill which had always been of very high quality and service, but this was the first time we'd dined in the restaurant. The food was excellent, offering a good selection of dishes including vegetarian/vegan options. Service was prompt and friendly and you didn't feel like you were being rushed out of the door. At the time of writing there was a deal available offering two courses plus coffee for a fixed price which proved to be very reasonable as the courses were both very substantial. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will definitely return in the near future. This eatery is thoroughly recommended.

Excellent food, and wonderful service. The waiter offered suggestions and made recommendations and explained what food came with which dish so we didn't over all. The food quality and presentation was excellent . Great value for money.

Either using YouTube or some other basic music streaming service because every now and then adverts would come on for compare the market lmao but it was banter tbh, otherwise food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were pleasant and made sure we were happy!

Food was very tasty and fresh. Customer service was great. They were very friendly. Big and cosy place. Nice decor and kids friendly. Also prayer mats available if you need, just asked them. We enjoyed a lot.

We visited Christmas Eve. Table of 8 with my children and grandchildren. The service and staff were excellent. We ordered mainly the set meal and the grandkids ordered the dishes simulator to pizza. I can honestly say the meal was excellent value for money and as a large family we had a fantastic evening.

I finally came here after years of meaning to, I won't leave it so long for the next visit as the food was incredible and everyone who served us was an absolute pleasure.

Food really nice but the place was freezing! We asked to move tables away from the door but the air-conditioning was on (-4 outside!) So we asked them to turn it off , which they did but there was no heating on so it was still incredibly cold, people were sitting in coats whilst eating. Such a shame as the meal was lovely, although became quickly cold given the air temperature.

Only downgraded due to 1of the starters was missing and we had to remind the staff. But it was hot and tasty when we got it.

Second visit to this eatery, superb food and service at a great price too! Extensive Turkish menu, good cocktail list (though I stuck to beer on this occasion so untested) and a special set menu price for Monday and Tuesday at £15pp really impressed me. Had the set menu and it was superb. .. highly recommended!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at our dragon boat winning celebration dinner, and I can't say enough good things about both the host and the venue. From the moment we arrived, the host went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was perfect. They were attentive, friendly, and truly made us feel like VIPs. As for the venue, it was simply stunning. The ambiance was elegant and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for our special evening. The decor and lighting were impeccable, adding to the overall charm. But what truly set this dinner apart was the food. The culinary creations were a true delight for the senses. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It was evident that the chefs put a lot of thought and skill into crafting the menu. Overall, I can't recommend this host and venue enough. It was an unforgettable evening, and I'm grateful to have celebrated such a special occasion in such a remarkable setting. Five stars all the way!

My first visit....excellent Turkish fare....will go again when back in the area

The restaurant was clean and modern. They serve Turkish food but the taste was a little bit different than the originals we used to it in Istanbul. Overally in the UK were the nearest one the originals though. The price is a bit high. What was annoying is that it is crowded and everybody is speaking loudly. Being too noisy. I think that most personels were turkish or originally from Turkey.

Food is absolutely amazing and the service is fantastic. I couldn’t recommend a better restaurant to go to.

The food was really good. The service was top tier. My cousin didn't like her original order and so the server gave her a meal that she would be more familiar with for free. The humus and Naan were exceptional. My salmon was a bit dry but I enjoy my food a bit on the crisp side at times. It was my mom's 65th so at the end of dinner they brought out a cake with a candle. So birthday celebrations there are recommended. Oh and how can I forget the 3 course meal for only $15 pounds on Mondays. Talk about a steal of a deal.

I recently dined at Sumac Grill, a delightful Turkish restaurant. I had tried their house special, which left quite an impression. The kebabs, in particular, were exceptional and stood out in terms of taste and tenderness. The overall experience at Sumac Grill was a satisfying culinary journey into Turkish cuisine.

This place was amazing, they were so busy, but the service was still great, the food was spot on and tasted amazing, the atmosphere was great. For a first visit we'll definitely be returning.

I've been to a fair few Turkish establishments over the years, having Turkish blood in my family and the food has always been pretty good here! However, I've got to say that the service given by the main 2 guys is impeccable, the young lady however, could do with a lesson on customer service and perhaps brushing up on the menu as well as perhaps adjusting the way she speaks to customers.. my lamb kebab was over done, rather than making a scene when she came over, I quietly said that it was well done and could I have one more rare, her reply which still has me in stitches and slightly flabbergasted at her response was that " it cant be made rarer as its already been cooked" I mean what do you say to that.. she did lighten up as we went along but if it wasn't for this lady I'd of given full marks, we will be back again for sure but hope next time we get served by someone else. I have to say that normally the food is really good so perhaps they were having an off day

Can’t comment on atmosphere as I picked up a take away. The food was fantastic, big portions and plenty of flavour. I ordered the salmon and was served 2 pieces which is extremely rare as most restaurants is only one piece. The calamari and chicken wings was just as good! Salad was very good to. Shame I am away and stumbled across this place, if this was my local I certainly will be visiting often. If you are hesitant to try, do give it a go. I am absolutely stuffed!

We went for an early dinner today and food was lovely. The service was really above and beyond. We was with our little one and friends and all the staff made an effort with our little one and he really loved his ice cream. Thank you team for a lovely afternoon.

Sadly hugely disappointing again. We usually go to Efes Mangal in Leicester but just wanted a takeaway. Food was cold, meat was tough and the price for what was received certainly didn’t offer good value for money. We’ve had a similar experience before but decided to try again. Won’t make that mistake again.

Lovely food and atmosphere, no complaints at all. It was very quiet as we went in the middle of the week, however the staff were friendly, service was quick and the food was lovely. The prices were also excellent; the staff actually charged us for a deal that we had missed, meaning that any starter, main, and coffee was only £15 which is incredibly generous considering the food.

We had a surprise 50th birthday dinner here. It was wonderful. The food was sublime and the staff were polite, happy and attentive Definitely recommend the set menu for first timers.

10% discount if you collect takeaway but 50% less food than if you eat in... ordered 2 mix shish kebabs which are £16 - three cubes of chicken and three of lamb per kebab for £32... daylight robbery. not sure why there's no option for me to add the picture of the food.

Made a booking for 3pm on Sunday. Got there and nobody else there, so was a bit concerned, but no need as the service was lovely and the food very tasty and plenty of it. Will go again if in the area.

What a lovely restaurant. The music was enjoyable - not too loud or too low. The decor was very nice. I loved the lighting. The waiter was terrific. Very helpful and made us laugh. He served a group of ladies very nicely, and he was also considerate of whether the birthday girl had any allergies before bringing out her birthday treat. The fish was terrific, a compliment to the chef. I definitely will visit if we are ever in the area again.

Ate here a couple of weeks ago with 2 friends, food and service was so good that I booked to go back with others. Second time going and we were a table of 26, we were so well looked after throughout the night and the food was delicious. Great restaurant and staff.

When you enter Sumac , it feels very Turkish. 100 marks to the man who did the interior. Minute details like lights, carpets on the seats, hand crafts give you a very Mediterranean feel and vibe. The menu appears to be very Turkish as well. Food is average 🙄 😒 when it comes to taste. Presentation of food picks up the enthusiasm for the eater but taste is not turkishy enough. Having eaten in small eateries in Istanbul my expectations and standards were probably too high. Sorry guys 👦 😔. I also feel it was little pricey for what you get. Bread and chutneys they give you in Turkey 🇹🇷 😋 is the winner but here at Sumac it was ready made bread 🍞 😜. 👎 not impressed with it. Antalya restaurant in Coventry do proper fresh bread and their sauces are sick too. Overall, I won't be going to Hinckley for this restaurant again.

Great meal, we had the mixed hot and cold starters to arrive with the mains. The mains were amazing, tasty, hot and filling. Would have a 5 star if it wasn’t the need to prompt for the bread for the hummus and the starters. We were a table of 8

I recently visited this restaurant, which has been touted as having the best Turkish food in the UK, with my girlfriend. As a young Turkish man who has worked as a chef at several Turkish restaurants, I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience. The food quality was poor, with dishes lacking in flavor and authenticity. The customer service was also lacking, with staff being unresponsive and uninterested in providing a positive experience. The selection of music was completely out of place and did not add to the atmosphere of the restaurant, but rather detracted from it. To add insult to injury, the staff had limited knowledge of Turkish culture and language, which was reflected in their inability to even name the dishes correctly. This was a huge disappointment, as I was hoping for a taste of authentic Turkish cuisine, but instead was left with a bad taste in my mouth. In conclusion, I would advise readers to avoid this establishment and seek alternative dining options for authentic and satisfying Turkish cuisine

Absolutely horrendous and an insult to a true Turkish dining experience. (coming from a turk) Called and booked a table in advance only to have to wait for an hour to be seated anyway. Nobody to greet you on the door. You get seated in a waiting bay in the middle of all the chaos from the bar and kitchen. Service was inconsistent and not a single waiter/waitress giving service with a smile, the food took an hour and 45 min to be made when we ordered 2 mains and a side dish. Which we were told after an hour of ordering that they didn't have. We was offered shots of sourz as an apology which clearly isn't what you want when you're going out for dinner. Other half said her grilled chicken kebab was alright. When my beyti dish came all seemed nice until I found a piece of clear plastic in my cucumber mint dip. I'd compare the atmosphere to being more like a nightclub smoking shelter thats got no heaters. Plenty of room for improvement from this establishment including picking up food and napkins off the floor. How can you charge your meals at an average of £18 per dish and treat your customers like they're in a kebab house. Your service needs significant improvement before the space ends up being used for another gallery.

Waiting forever to get any food ridiculous

Nice and cosy restaurant. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our dinner (although most of our dishes were a bit to burn- we were a table of 20 people and they might of tried to rush our food or so). However, overall we were quite impressed with the restaurant and service. We do recommend to book in advance. Car park is also to small to accommodate all the guests the restaurant can take. Therefore, if is after 6pm Monday-Friday- there's a single line parking on front. As always, chicken shish is the best Turkish dish 🍽🍷

Mediocre at best, went on many recommendations and the recent level of award sumac had applied for. 3 tables out of many with people in. House tempranillo at £16.95 was a £3.00 bottle at best. Food was bland no spices bill at £107 for 3 . I'll be honest a certain local takeaway is better for £20 that serves 4. May give another chance one day but won't be in a rush.

Really disappointing had 2 house specials. Half the size of what you get when you eat in.... ordered a monk fish. Got phone call just before expected delivery time saying monkfish not available choose alternative £5 cheaper not offered any refumd

….absolutely disgusting service from management. Waited well over 2 hours for starters, 3.5 hrs for mains!! To top it off it was then cold when the mains did finally arrive. Never seen people walk out of a restaurant before, given how long you kept people waiting. Had management handled it like you would expect I would have had no issues, but being greedy I cannot deal with. It’s a shame sumac, a shame I had to give you 1* as you deserve 0!

Not what I was expecting food was OK but felt like a pub not a restaurant so loud and not the quality you'd expect.
