Fantastic food and incredible service by the team. As a regular in Atherstone, I wanted to try The Railway. I can't wait to come back and try your roast dinners!

I wouldn’t give this company another penny. Went in for a quiet drink and found myself listening to the owners current affairs with his boyfriend. Extremely vulgar and I felt very uncomfortable. Management needs a shake up and some decency towards customers. The way they speak to the staff is also not on! Poor young girls being deliberately embarrassed in front of customers. I will visit the pub a few mins up the road in future.

Came here for lunch at the weekend with my family, we loved it. It was very busy but the atmosphere, music and food was amazing! Will be returning! 😊👍

Wasn't expecting such an amazing bar. Food was spot on, the whole atmosphere, bar etc was perfect. May be the best pub in Hinckley.

Stopped in for a quick pint while waiting for my train home, its right opposite the main train station. Staff friendly, dog friendly, they had a few good beers on top and a really nice outside seating area. Didn't have any food

Really disappointed in the food quality. Ordered Halloumi and avocado 🥑 salad. The halloumi was burnt and the avocado was the not fresh, it was out if a bottle. The chips with my dad's very small fish and chips..(not worth the £14), were hard in the middle not cooked. We mentioned it to the waiter and he said ill tell the chief then heard nothing else from him. Really disappointed....we've had some really nice meals but it seems it just doesn't care anymore. Won't bother again.

I go to The Railway as part of a networking group, Ladies That Do, and we absolutely love the venue, the food, and the atmosphere. Thank you for being gracious hosts and may we continue to visit with you.

Food is cold, tasted like it was made hours ago and kept warm on a hot plate. Not cheap. Buns are soggy on the bottom and hard on top. Used to be great before new ownership.

Got food poisoning after eating their chicken goujons Portion sizes are of small probably due to paying 50% on a Monday and Tuesday Sticky tables Avoid this place

Worst food iv ever had in a pub for ages pie was microwaved mushy peas also microwaved chips should have chunky but a mixture thin and thicker not chunky atmosphere none tablets very sticky will never eat there again

This place is a joke! I have been in twice recently just after 10 pm on a Saturday evening only to be told that last orders have been called! I believe I'm correct in saying that last orders in England is 11.00pm but this pub closes when it feels like it even though there were a lot of customers in there! It won't last long if this continues..I hope it goes out of business because that's what it deserves. I would have given it no stars at all but the option wasn't there... AVOID!

We go to the railway often for either just drinks or food as well, including breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food is always spot on, and the service is brilliant.

First time coming in to in to try pub the food and it was amazing by far the best food we’ve had in a long while in Hinckley!! My partner doesn’t even eat fish and he tried mine and loved it! Very friendly and inviting

Sunday Lunch was really lovely, had Turkey other half had Roast Beef, both came with 2 x yorky puds each with plenty of veg, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, gravy, great atmosphere with the rugby, doggie enjoyed it too!! Friendly staff, thank you😊

Lovely pub with a varied menu of classic pub food. Had a steak ciabatta and fries from their 'light bites' menu and was full all night! Felt like very good value, and it was delicious.

Pub seems nice enough and staff seem conscientious, but the food is very unimaginative and out of the freezer. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

This pub has recently been fully refurbished and is now a really lovely venue to visit. There is a sheltered outside space, a great room with dart boards, plus the conservatory restaurant looks amazing. The bar area is now a really comfortable and cosy place to sit and enjoy a few drinks. Still dog friendly, too, in the bar area. It was good to see a familiar face or two behind the bar, and the service offered was super friendly and efficient. The food menu has lots of choice plus a Sunday Lunch offering too, and there is also a separate light bites menu, with wraps, jacket potatoes, etc. We'll look to try the food on our next visit.

Waited for 2 hours for food. To be told they had not put through the orders of half the table. We could wait for the rest of the tables food it would be 25 minutes. We walked out, not going back

We came here for a Sunday Roast (with our dog) and were very impressed by the food, the portion sizes were great and the food itself was delicious - we had the trio of meat option which was just under £20 each and was well worth it. It comes with a side of veg too. And being dog friendly is a huge plus for us too. Will definitely be back!

It is what it is, a great little pub with good beer. Ideal on the walk into town from Burbage or when waiting for a train. Not had food there for years but always used to be spot on 👍🏻

Had lunch there yesterdsy, lovely old pub, the staff were polite, very helpful, felt really at ease, nothing was too much trouble. Food was really lovely, would definitely recommend going. K

Went for lunch. My wife had seen a mushroom and leek pie on their online menu. On looking at the paper menu there was no sign of it. She chose the mushroom Brie and cranberry wellington. This wasn’t available!? So she went with a nut roast dinner. Unfortunately the nut roast seemed to be mainly rice, the veg looked as if it was frozen. I went for the £21 sirloin steak and chips. I asked for it medium rare. It came well done, the texture was like well cooked liver, yuk! Took it back to the bar. At that price I expect my food to be cooked properly. A replacement steak was delivered to the table, my wife had nearly finished her meal. Unfortunately this steak was also overcooked but not quite as bad as the first, closer to medium but definitely not how I ordered it medium rare. Not until I had finished my meal did anyone ask if everything was ok with my steak (second time around) my wife wasn’t asked at all. The chips and onion rings were nice as was the beer and cider my wife had. When I asked my wife how her meal was she said it was c**p ( but different words). The visit cost us in total over £40. For a meal that was on a par with Wetherspoons or the Hungry Horse. So disappointing, we won’t be eating there again, we’ll go to the Tin Hat about 3/4 of a mile away where they know how to cook a steak and have vegetarian food that is on the menu and available.

Very cosy and welcoming and the facilities are very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful as well as welcoming, Very goid service. Will definitely be going back soon.

Best Sunday Lunch in the area, The food and service is very good, They do allow dogs but only near the bar which suited us and was not a problem, definitely will visit again.

Nice meal, burger bun was a little small chicken kept falling out ended up having to use knife and fork, also said on menu chunky chip but got fries, cooked nice

I would give the food there - 1 stars if I could. No standard and no respect for the customer, I work in hospitality and only when I think of that rubbish food they served me, I cringe. I feel offended that a chef would serve this to anyone. I ordered a mix grill. The chicken was boiled and slightly grilled. The beef rump was smelling foul. And the onion rings were burned. I refused to pay and left. I am still appalled at the quality of that food. I wouldn't give that to my dogs.

Would have had 5 stars, but what is £6.50 for cheesy chips that consist of chips sprinkled with cold grated cheese? Isn't that almost robbery?

Had read the reviews and it all looked good. However Sunday lunch was not great. It was late on and maybe it was because stuff had been left a while. Firstly wrong order which to be fair they said they would fix, but my partner had the trio of meats, I got the meatless wanted the veggie option. So I had his chicken. The roast spuds where odd, soggy and just warm and the Yorkshire greasy and rock hard, however the carrots and parsnips were really lovely. The chicken I gave back to my partner as it was a bit dry and he didn't eat all his spuds and Yorkshire. Shame as a lovely pub and dog friendly, great gin selection and normally steaming billies are fabulous. i did pay in full and did voice my concern at the time, one of the worse sunday lunches in a long time. Would advise going in earlier rather than getting food that had maybe been cooked a while before it was served, which is what it tasted like. Very expensive meal of carrots and parsnips, not mentioned the brocoli that was over cooked for my taste but nothing wrong with it..

Me and my husband visited Stemin' Billy today and can I say...they gravy and chips are to die for. So delicious. Husband ordered Billy's pie and truly enjoyed it, leak and mushroom pie I ordered unfortunately wasn't to my liking but it still doesn't change the fact that vegetables was very well cooked and don't forget about that gravy!.

The management and waiting staff went out of their way to accommodate my dietary requirements. Really impressed with them. I would visit again.

We were looking for Sunday Lunch at the Bank Holiday weekend. After trying a good few places in the countryside around Hinckley, we ended up back where we started. The Railway had a table for us, the food was good (huge portions, even the half-size ones!), the beer likewise, and the staff were helpful and friendly. They catered for "Gluten Free". And when later my wife thought she had left her cardigan, they were most helpful. (She hadn't!) So five stars, and we'll be back. Well done team!

Had a lovely evening the food was really good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. And a really big thank you to our waitress Ellie who helped make our evening more enjoyable.

Great pub, got a really long dog in the garden

The food here is lovely and the staff very polite and helpful. The only thing bringing this pub down is the current manager. I have found him to be rude, on many occasion, for no reason. His attitude is not a welcoming one, which he needs to bear in mind when we, the customers, are spending our money in there.

Lovely food - we had the mixed grill & grilled chicken. Really enjoyed them, hot and tasty. Good service from the waiting staff. I would suggest that the menu is amended on your website as some options were not on the menu in house. 😊

Best Sunday roast for ages loved it

Had a meal and drinks in here on Friday evening, 24th, food was brilliant, staff were funny and helpful. There was a large party in on a retirement do or a hen do, staff were really good at just keeping us in the loop with our order, were apologetic about timings, even though they had no need to be.

Cracking pub, good food and dog friendly. Excellent to pop in for a drink or for food too.

Me and my husband are not hard drinkers. So the guy at the counter made for us long island iced tea and it was so good. The food also was warm, nicely served by the lady and tasted nice. Though I wish they had more options in veg. The plant based burger patties in general I really don't find them tasty at all. I wished it was more of authentic prepared from veggies, chick peas etc. Or even falafel based veg patty tastes very good. If that doesn't work, should be given an option for potato patty. With that it would have been for me then a perfect place to dine in. However my husband's food was superb as he said. So that's why full stars for the experience.

To expensive £4.65 for a pint of Guinness we are in hinckley not London lovely pub but doesn't justify that kind of money(sorry)

Well. Yet again we have had a wonderful lunch, great service, Beer top notch 👌 atmosphere very welcoming 😍 call in on the way to the train you won't be disappointed.

Food was honestly lovely from here today. My only reason for marking lower was the experience I had at the bar, the gentleman serving me made me feel so uncomfortable after the rude way he served me, I honestly did not even dare ask for a menu luckily my partner did. We where looking for somewhere else to eat but as we already had our drinks decided to stay, not sure I would return but to be honest the food was awesome that we did have :)

Poked my head to ask if they accept kids as got 2 pushchairs" yes of course " awesome my 2 year old daughter loved the space to run around and the dogs inside, spent a few hours there was really great regulars where having a chin wag with you, very welcoming and the bar staff were excellent, gave my daughter crayons and paper to keep her occupied,

I thought the barman was very abrupt...we had only just entered and was greeting friends that we hadn't seen in year's....and didn't realise that we was standing in front of the log fire and was quickly told to move away as it was for everyone to enjoy...the funny thing was there were only us and another couple who was sitting up the stairs away from the fire...needs to be a little more friendly.

Back up and running after the pandemic... dropped in unannounced and they looked after us impeccably. Food was spot on, staff were chatty and efficient, beer was great. One of my favourite places for a family Friday dinner and pint!

Sunday lunch was terrible. Slow cooked chicken was actually grilled and over done. Veg was basically raw, to the point i really struggled to cut it!

Food was lovely, but we ordered a side, but didn't get it. Not much of a choice of speciality teas or milk (only normal not lactose free, etc). Menu limited.staff were lovely. Xx

After reading all the good comments this place was very disappointing. Burger was partly raw and the whole thing was served on greaseproof paper in a wooden box - not very hygienic! But service vas good.

The service was excellent and the food was great. We had a selections of starters, whitebait, chicken strips and wings and they were all good. All of our party had burgers, most of us had the Billy burger but two had the pulled pork burger and the brie and bacon and we had two sides of onion rings. Everyone enjoyed their food. The price is reasonable. With two rounds of drinks it came to about £20 a head. Would definitely recommend this pub.

Its really cheered us all up and kept our spirits up. Its not just a pub its the hub of the community 💥

My local still has a great warm atmosphere even in the face of this adversity. Everyone observes the guidelines and protocol and carries on as best they can. Couple of handsome well behaved dogs in the bar on Friday night. Table service and contact less payment, good beer, all good....👍

Fantastic food with fantastic beer makes a fantastic pub! We're local dairy farmers and supply the Steamin Billy family with cheese and butter made with our milk along with other dairy farmers produce! Very reliable, hard working people that are lovely to work with as well as the lovely atmosphere if we pop in for a meal or pint!
