We were visiting family for my son’s birthday and they suggested the red lion. There was 8 of us for dinner … the starters came out and the 2 soups were cold as well as the mussels. My some could not eat the cold soup) The mains came out, well most of them the pan fried cod was tasteless the bean stew was unseasoned and gloopy. My husband unfortunately did not receive his short beef and was offered another meal when we were all nearly finished so declined. I requested potatoes with my main which came out as chips and the onion rings were soggy The female member of staff who I think was a manager seemed completely uninterested when we made her aware of our issues. They came to us near the end and told us they would not charge for the soup and take 10% of the bill The only good thing was the young male waiter who served us We will never return and if I could give no stars I would
Bellissima prima serata a Boston. Esperienza top. Stra consogliato
Really disappointing. Very different from the other branch. Both ladies were on their phones upon arriving. When asked what different types of proteins are available “chicken, beef or pork” was the response. There was no detail of the type of proteins (marinade/cooking type etc). Both workers had no idea what type of food they were serving which is very shocking for this sort of establishment.

Just a quick break- had a coconut cappuccino and a pain au chocolat A word to the wise - when using your own cup always make sure you rinse it out and dry it before leaving otherwise you end up making a mess of your tote bag,bed sheet and worst of all mattress 😀
Have visited there sister pubs in Repton and Willington and thought it would be a nice change to try one of their other pubs for my sons and my birthday. It definitely did not disappoint. The place it self is really nice, food again was excellent and service from staff was also very good. Would definitely visit again when in the area.
Pudding Pantry is usually a good experience but this time was underwhelming, the pancakes were tough and when we asked if we could have both butter and maple syrup found that they would charge us for the syrup....with pancakes. This wasn't too bad but when they are charging £2.50 for the extra syrup you expect it to come in more than a thimble sized dish. An entire 330ml bottle of Canadian maple syrup only cost 6 quid so for 2.50 you could be less stingy. Butter and maple syrup should just come included when you order pancakes. If you ordered chips you wouldn't pay extra for ketchup and mayonnaise.
This place will blow your socks off. Excellent staff amazing spa brilliant rooms affordable sandwiches and the fact that it is dog friendly trumps other places of this standard. Recommend the walk(s) from here you don't have to go far but open fields and beautiful views of the estate.
An exceptional calming and peaceful break in one of the most amazing clusters of buildings you are likely to see in your life especially the lounge. Wow! All from a 15th century manor designed specifically for entertainment. The history literally oozes out of the walls. Really well kept building(s)/ paint/ decor etc. Hats off to the owners.
Food was of a very high quality with plenty of choice for all tastes prices considering the quality are good value would highly reccomend and will be returning

Beautiful Sunday carvery! The beef was so tender and a great selection of vegetables. Wonderful price. My ONLY compkaint was that I couldn't eat it it all lol. I will recommend this place. We have had breakfast here on another occasion and that was great too. Well done to all the hard working staff. See you next season.
