Went here last Saturday night with our friends and were seated upstairs. We have been here many times in the past. As usual food was tasty, drinks were lovely and service excellent.

Couldn't have been better! We visited twice in August. Once when we buried my mother's ashes at the local church and once when we went to say goodbye to her house. We were lent umbrellas, given a little rubber duck for the baby to play with.and even given a pen to write a card. Both times the food was delicious and fresh....plenty of it too. I don't really go for pizza, but their pizza is straight from a pizza oven and made to order. I enjoyed the caramel latte which I had instead of a pudding. You may get excellent food elsewhere but I've rarely had such thoughtful, welcoming and kind treatment from staff anywhere. Thank you for all your help to all your staff.

A shockingly awful experience Birthday surprise meal with family and over 40 mins for starters then it got worse. Stroganoff was cold and mushrooms were burnt.cajun stack the chorizo was burnt and should have been on a shoe it was that hard and overcooked. When told about it the waitress stated we can recook a new one in about 20 mins plus . She looked at the stack and was shocked it was black and inedible.i told her to replace it with a simple chicken burger .the burger came 5 mins later and it was like rubber.i could not eat it . A fantastic 74th birthday ruined by shoddy cooking and awful super slow service . The best thing on the menu here is water DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME go elsewhere .. Terrible

Visited this wonderful restaurant with friends last weekend whilst away for a weekend. We were blown away with the excellent meal and service each and every member of the Swan team gave us. In particular our server, Olivia was so friendly and super efficient throughout the evening. We were made to feel very welcome and at no point did we feel rushed or hurried - even though the restaurant was packed for a Saturday night. The restaurant had a cosy, quirky and relaxing atmosphere. Vast choice on the menu but we opted for the Big Yakitori Sticks which came with a choice of 2 sides each (2 chicken and 2 steak). Food arrived promptly and beautifully presented. We failed to have room for dessert but the menu was brimming with deliciousness! Big thanks to everyone for making it a fabulous evening with friends. Just wish it was closer to home!

Would very much recommend! Tonight was my first time there, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for us. Our amazing server Charlotte, asked us as we sat down if we were celebrating a special occasion. Me and my partner were celebrating our engagement, Charlotte surprised us with a lovely slate saying congratulations with a pot of ice cream and sweets. This was an unexpected gesture which was very much noticed and appreciated. Also I'd like to thank the manger Hannah, again Hanna was amazing. I ordered the sirloin steak which the first one had a bit to much gristle, Hanna promptly corrected this with a new cut of steak which was cooked perfectly. Amazing service, amazing food, I will definitely be back! (Unfortunately I forgot to snap a picture of the main meal, I was to excited to tuck in)

We’ve been to the Swan several times and have always really enjoyed it. However on this last occasion the food simply wasn’t good. Burgers overcooked and other meals either bland or far too much seasoning. Also whose idea it was to put a lot of full peppercorns in a children’s macaroni needs questioning as we had to pick all these out! We did mention this to staff who offered a replacement meal and 10% off another meal which was burnt. We didn’t expect anything and we’d have rather not been offered the 10% off the one burnt meal as this seemed a bit pointless. Service however was excellent - 10/10 for your waitresses and the manager who did look stressed but handled the issues.

Attended The Swan today for an anniversary meal with my husband Sunday roast was not something that they do but was far from disappointed at the menu as there was plenty to choose from. We both ordered the pizzas which were amazing….very fresh with fantastic choice of toppings. They are absolutely huge which was difficult to finish even having saved ourselves but boxes were available to take our leftovers home which came in handy come 7pm when we got the munchies again!!! Staff were very accommodating, polite and on the ball making sure our every need was met….thank you to Isabelle who looked after us. A nice touch was an anniversary acknowledgment in the form of a slate with a message and an ice cream…the little things make the experience special…thank you ☺️ Would highly recommend a visit!!

We booked a family meal after burying my mothers ashes, so it was an incredibly difficult day. The staff were so helpful and understanding, taking special consideration for one of us with an allergy. They even lent us an unberella for the cemetery!Food excellent, reasonably priced, but such a welcoming atmosphere, it made a massive difference to our day. Thank you.

Visited with my boyfriend for my birthday and we couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant. Gorgeous food and huge portions. We sat in the blossom room which was beautiful. Special mention goes to our waitress Abbey who was on her first shift on her own and absolutely smashing it. She was friendly and attentive and even organised for our desserts to be brought to the bar. Thank you Abbey for helping to make my birthday meal so wonderful.

So I have always like the chilled pubs both pre & post vegan …. I was visiting my best mate today so chose to go to the Swan @ Walton for lunch. I was slightly mortified to find that the menu had changed and they now only have a very few vegan options and two of the options were falafel based! I can’t be the only vegan that gets sick of falafel being the option when you go out for a meal!! They have replaced the meat alternative burger with a sweet potato falafel burger .. anyway I definitely did not want anything falafel based and I had a curry last night so I picked the 100% plant based pizza which was very nice but I’d have preferred a burger! Only had one course as the starters didn’t grab me, the desserts sounded lovely but none said they couldn’t made vegan and I couldn’t be bothered to ask! Staff are always lovely in a chilled pub, so I’ve only turn off one star for the poor vegan options, after all I did enjoy my pizza. I would like to see places such as the chilled pubs chain increase their vegan options to 50% of the menu, it would be so nice up go out with non vegan friends and be spoilt for choice. So please do better Chilled Pubs 😊🤞🏼💚

We were visiting family in hugglescote and they had been here before. It certainly was a very picturesque drive to the restaurant/ pub. This definitely a nice gastro pub and the food was excellent. Right from the start the welcome was great, we were taken to our table and everything was explained, we were told our servers name which I found a very welcoming and friendly. The place is very busy and spread over two floors. You can even try and book tables in one of the many named rooms in the venue. I would highly recommend that you book online. The menu was very interesting and very wide choices. I can say there are very interesting innovative dishes. The pizzas are generous and if you’re hungry I would recommend them. We weren’t very hungry so we had a mixture of burgers and bao buns. Everything we ordered was very tasty and nice. Bradley was a great and attentive host, I felt he was very busy and trying to serve a lot of people. The bathrooms are very clean, and the same goes for the venue. There is plenty of on-site car parking.

Service was fast, staff were lovely (especially Kyle) and so accommodating. They had technical issues but you would never know because of how well the staff looked after us. 10/10 experience.

Absolutely wonderful place, so pretty and cosy inside with twinkly lights and faux fur. The food is gorgeous, arrived, quickly, portion sizes are great, and prices on point. Kids portions superb too. Olivia looked after us and she was so welcoming and friendly and really looked after us. All the team were so professional and courteous. I honestly can't say enough positive stuff about this AWESOME place. They even gave us some chocolate eggs (with it having just been Easter)!! What a kind and thoughtful touch. I feel like we're wanted there, that they care. We will be returning soon!!!!

Disappointed to find no starters are gluten free. Even more shocked to discover that of 19 main courses only 2 plus steak are Gluten free.. Even more shocked to discover zero gluten free deserts. My main course was served cold but to be fair after I sent it back it was removed from the bill. Chips were awful. Soggy, luke warm and like cardboard. Truly awful experience. One of the worse dining experiences in recent memory.

Booked for lunch for my partners birthday. The pub itself is extremely cosy and has a lovely atmosphere inside. The staff were polite, welcoming and the service was great. The food portions are big and delicious for the price, the food was also brought out quite quickly. The staff asked if we were celebrating and we told them it was for my partners birthday, to which when we ordered our dessert they bought it out on a happy birthday slate which was a very thoughtful touch. Will definitely return!

As a party of 9 we travelled an hour for lunch for my sisters birthday, on arrival we showed our booking confirmation to be told they had double booked us and had no over availability! We were told to stand in the bar and have a drink instead! No apology, nothing! We went over to ask if their partner restaurant had any availability which they checked and said no! We normally love coming to the Swan, however we will never return again! Extremely bad customer service!

A lovely meal enjoyed with friends , service excellant,very attentative to my dietary needs being coeliac. Staff were very knowledgeable. Food was lovely and staff very friendly. Definately a 3rd visit on the cards. Such a lovely cosy place to eat.

Very nice place with an authentic atmosphere, friendly waithers. Their original pizzas take the prize. We managed to try most of them, absolutely delicious. The only thing this place lacks is the quality of other dishes who can be bland in more than one occasion.

Great place cozy feel inside with a rustic look that I loved. Welcome and service was excellent from Kyle and the team. Amazing food we went for the mushroom sandwich and the fillet fish bun which were both great value for money and so tasty. Brilliant choice of food and drink at great prices. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

Ended up here as we are unable to get across the river to go to Barton Marina and we are so glad we did. The restaurant was very busy. However they were able to fit us in for lunch for four of us. The staff were incredibly polite and welcoming and the service was excellent. The choice of food is very extensive two of us, having the pizzas which were extremely large and very good value for money. The other meals were also generous portion sizes and very reasonably priced. The restaurant had a really good vibe with lots of families and some larger groups celebrating birthdays. It was lovely to see a country pub being so busy. There is plenty of parking and additional space further behind the pub. We were seated under a speaker which was a bit loud for the base. However, the waiter was able to turn off that speaker upon request and this did not affect the ambience of the whole restaurant. The restaurant is quite forward in its technology and has a QR code to scan so that you can pay the bill online without having to wait for the server and you can split the bill etc which is good providing you are up-to-date with technology. Alternatively they will take your payment and then all the way if needed. Overall a very nice stop for lunch with a great choice of food and excellent service. Would definitely go back without question. Have even looked at their sister pubs to see if there’s any more locally we can try.

We chose The Swan for a birthday dinner and cocktails last night, drawn in by positive reviews and the establishment's style. Charlotte, our excellent and friendly hostess, enhanced our experience. Unfortunately, the limited vegan options—just a burger and an unavailable pizza—were disappointing. Despite Charlotte's great service, I believe the restaurant should expand its vegan offerings if they are going to promote that they have vegan options available. Additionally, suggesting that the cocktail menu specifies vegan options or ones that can be modified (e.g., removing egg white) would be beneficial. Thankfully, Charlotte checked with the bar staff to ensure our cocktails were suitable. It's disappointing as we've recently moved nearby and were hoping for a better experience because both my fiancée and I enjoy a meal out and we had high hopes for The Swan. I’m sure we will be back I just hope that they expand their range of vegan options.

Big menu, big- ridiculously big - portions! High in carbs. High in fat. Low nutritional quality If you like gut busting, heart attack on a plate, type of food this is for you. If , like me, you like lots of fresh vegetables , nutritious and delicious healthy foods, forget it. Service excellent.

Very disappointed, we have been a few time's was good..but this time was the last. Wrong food delivered, the lager has funny smell and not creamy head. .I sent mine back and Just ordered side geek salad so I wasn't Just sat with nothing whilst hubby was trying to finish his Very salty fish and chips. .salad was very different to the first we had..not consistent enough..far to much salt in food really need to check before sending out..and that's it's the right plate ordered.

Went here for Sunday lunch. Nice friendly staff, service was fast and friendly, and a nice relaxing beer gardenWe all enjoyed our food, but one common complaint was it was all rather greasy.The yorkshire puds with the beef roast were very greasy, almost sickly. Likewise the beef gravy was greasy, and way too thin. These are really simple things to fix though, and after that it would all be awesome.On the bright side, they were all good sized portions (the fish and chips were huge), and the carvery was nice thick wedges of meat and not just a few wafer thin slices.

Waited in the waiting area for over a minute to be seated. Gave up headed to the bar and waited a further two mins.There were SIX staff right there in front of me, serving two people. SIX and not one had the courtesy to make eye contact. Eventually a seventh appeared and dealt with us.The pizzas, cooked in a wood fired oven, are fantastic. Apart from, that is, the filings. Why such loaded fillings, and what's with the Chinese and all the other silly stuff. Go with the pizza, it's great let it sing.Salad. There must be eight choices of salad, all but one with meat. Again, why meat on salad. I'm as omnivore as the next sapiens, but let's have salad without meat.I chose the only 'vegitarian'' salad and it came with hunks of rubberised flavourless cheese. And swamped in some cheesy? 'more fat' sauce.This place has a split personality. Some serious menu attention could deliver exceptional dishes. But then what's the point when the staff stand clutching a tablet computer to their chest and ignore you for minutes on end.BTW it was the quietest I've seen there, no excuses.

Crazy bathtub cocktails. Huge meals. Everyone enjoyed the night. Staff let us eat outside in the patio area instead of the indoor restaurant which was much better given the summer evening.

The food is delicious and plentiful. You will struggle to finish any meal here as there is so much food on your plate or in a box! Our fish was a foot long and none of us could eat it all. Well worth the £12. They supply boxes for you to take home any unfinished meals if you wish. The setting and ambience is lovely. Dress up or down and you would not feel out of place. The cocktails are also lovely at around £6 each. Would highly recommend.

Our experience at the White Swan was great from start to finish. The team seem very customer service focused and it really made a difference to our experience. Becka was our waitress for the evening and what a credit to the business she is. She was happy and upbeat from the moment I called to book a table until she took our payment at the end of the evening. She was professional, friendly and efficient the whole evening despite being extremely busy - not once did she appear at all harrassed.The food itself was lovely, couldn't be faulted in anyway. The quality of the food was great and it was generously portioned. Both the drinks and food menu can be found on the app (which can be downloaded on the working free guest WiFi provided ).I thought this was a nice touch as it makes it more accessible to all users with a mobile that may struggle to see the menu.We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend it to others. Again special thanks to Becka for all her hard work.

Decidimos visitar el White Swan en Walton on Trent para comer el domingo. El servicio de reserva/confirmación es intachable. Al haber reservado una mesa, elegimos el Vegas Pizza con una ensalada de pollo y el Houlumi tarta con una selección de vegetales. La comida era excelente. Caliente, sabroso y abundante. Esto fue seguido por la tarta de chocolate y Baileys, Brownie. Nuevo de primera clase y se puso enferma con plenitud! ! ! Todo esto y nuestro camarero Paul fue genial. Atento y agradable y profesional. Nos vemos pronto.

A party of 8 visited for my 20th wedding anniversary on Saturday night we ordered a mixture of pizzas and food from the main menu which arrived minutes apart food was superb but what made the night was the effort the server put into making us feel valued and special nothing was too much trouble we will definitely be back and thank you jasmine i hope your managers realise what an asset you are x

Llamado temprano en un jueves por la noche y nos dieron la última mesa. El pub (que es lo que realmente está) estaba abarrotado y ruidoso. Nos sirvieron rápido y la comida llegó en buen tiempo. Elegimos pizzas y estas eran grandes y bien preparado. Había una buena variedad de estilos. Patatas fritas de acompañamiento eran fuertemente aromatizados. El menú previene contra escoger entre menús debido a diferencias de distribución.Por desgracia con el pub siendo muy concurrido y ruidoso y las mesas cerca del bar, no para comer cómodos. Sí, volvería de nuevo, pero yo elegiría un momento más tranquilo.

Fui con la familia anoche. Pedimos 6 comidas principales, 5 de las cuales llegamos juntos y aparentemente el 6 de julio estaba en el piso de la cocina como el chef había bajado la moussaka y otra estaría lista en 8 minutos. Sin embargo mi sándwich abierto con salsa de gorgonzola y carne cebollas no llegamos como sándwich de bistec con cebollas y salsa barbacoa en vez de Gorgonzola. Obviamente volví este, ya que no era lo que pedí y el personal no se disculpó lo suficiente. Otra esperar 10 minutos y todavía no moussaka. Moussaka y sándwich de bistec llegaron junto a unos 15 minutos después de que el resto de las comidas eran casi terminado. Por desgracia moussaka parecía que había sido improvisado.Se quejaron a la camarera al final de la comida, y ella estaba muy atento hasta sobre el director a disculparse. Gerente era muy agradable y disculpas y tomó tanto la moussaka y sandwich de carne de la factura por las molestias.En general es un lugar precioso y el personal es encantador, pero chef necesita para conseguir su acto juntos. No le he dado en este lugar y le daría una segunda oportunidad porque el personal de y gerente.

Almuerzo ordenados y mis amigos fue entregado primero, menú de comidas pueden llegar a dicho veces diferentes de diferentes menús, la nuestra no lo estaban. Unos minutos más tarde llegó luego la camarera mina fuimos para llegar cubiertos. Por favor traiga los cubiertos antes de la comida, cuando me han esperado para la comida no debería tener que esperar de nuevo, mirando mi comida, pero no pudimos empezar a comer!Nos quedamos en el camino en un lugar tan tenía tenía ganas de comer antes de una cita.La camarera nos fuimos a conseguir verduras, comenzamos a comer y más tarde las verduras llegamos, por esta vez fue a mitad de mi comida. Si una orden no es completa no lo trae! Yo más bien me dijeron que es un problema que tiene mi tiempo supuestamente relajantes arruinada por preguntarme/preguntar/persiguiendo cosas.Me dio la sensación tan decepcionada y decepción por la falta de atención hacia los clientes - que han perdido mis pedidos de alimentos para el futuro. Me pareció que el pub estaba mejorando mucho, nunca es la complacencia.

Bien por dónde empezar. Llegamos hoy aquí a las 14. 00 para una comida reservada hace algunos meses.Pedir bebidas, cerveza pedegree era donde llevamos a nuestra mesa. Regresar. 10 minutos más tarde con cerveza y recomienda problema completamente diferente ofrecieron una.Restaurante bastante vacío, así que no hay presión en la cocina.30 minutos después un pan de ajo preparado llegó completamente sobredimensionado con sal - horrible.45 minutos más tarde el plato principal llega, de mi esposa casero era escaso y sobredimensionado con sal. Patatas fritas olvidado, cuando pedimos patatas fritas dijo chef camarera sólo dejó las patatas fritas, haremos algunas más. La comida aquí es mega, pero te advertimos que necesitas de un apetito enorme para participar.El tamaño de la porción es un poco exagerado, pero después de la primera bifurcación completo se envía el desafío. Hemos estado aquí en las noches de lunes por la noche, que es un concurso con un ambiente vibrante bril.Yo también recomiendo este lugar.

Llamado en mota ya que no había visitado en mucho tiempo. Gratamente sorprendido por los cambios y el nuevo menú. Personal bien capacitado y amable. Ambos tuvimos pizza, pero la intención de volver a visitar para probar otros platos. Gran ambiente y ajetreada para un jueves por la noche, lo recomiendo.

Excellent restaurant with great dishes and a brick pizza oven on show. Very busy place so best to book in evenings but we have been quite a few times and managed to get a table for two without booking. Food presentation excellent and very nice staff with some nice wines and beers. We have visited around 15 times in the last year and never been disappointed.

Have been before and ate inside and enjoyed the evening with friends. However this time we sat outside on a warm evening and I could see how dirty my glass was and the table needed a good wipe over. The bar staff soon replaced my drink but had a job to find a clean glass and had to wash one specially. Great shame really . Food is good pub food. We will go there again but will study our glasses before we touch them.

I feel so lucky living in Burton, there are so many great pubs with a wide variety of beers and there are lots of great restaurants with lovely foodThe White Swan manages to do both!Loads of beers, gins, wine etc and a menu to die for without needing a payday loanThe staff are very friendly too which always helps!Will return again and again...

Hi family of seven went Saturday night and we loved it. Starters we had cheese fondu between 2 would easily do 4 Melted garlic Brie again to much for 2 but they where very nice.Main we had 3 pizzas which where gorgeous 3 open steak sandwich same again and I had the fillet steak which at £26 isn't cheap but it was A1 fantastic. Paul who looked after us not really a waiter was so helpful and really professional.Only moans where it was very warm couldn't undo Windows and pizzas came out when others had more or less finished there dinner.9.5/10 already looking forward to our next visit

We visited the white swan for the first time last week the food was fabulous and Tori who served us was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, very friendly whilst professional, so much that we returned, very pleased to be served again by Tori. The food again excellent, my husbands 1st pint of lager was served by Jake and was perfect, sadly his 2nd was served by another person and was very poor, very flat, no foamy head, and had to be left. I asked for no ice in my drink, but got ice. Would have given 5 stars but for this issue, we will return but complain if we encounter another problem

We went a few months ago and I had battered gluten free fish and chips and also we thought it could really do with an outside area. But the food was lovely and I couldn't wait to return on my birthday. We went again on Saturday and they wouldn't do me gluten free fish and chips (so I won't be visiting again). Also, we sat outside and there was no cutlery. I still don't know if guests are supposed to fetch their own, as no one told me. When ordering food, we weren't told, when the waiter delivered my food, we weren't told. So all in all, after being pleased to see the new outside area and looking forward to my gf fish and chips, I was quite disappointed and won't be returning.

First visit and we will be returning. For us, everything was fantastic. It's so nice to go somewhere local where you've enjoyed everything about the place. The surroundings, the drinks, the staff and of course the food. Our waiter (Paul) was attentive and friendly giving us the right amount of attention so we wanted for nothing and didn't need to chase him even though it was a busy Saturday night. The food was fantastic and the portions very generous. Would certainly recommend without hesitation but make sure you book.

First visit for Saturday lunch after being recommended by friends. Very impressed, staff were lovely and reserved us a table. It was early and it was noted that they were fully booked for most of the weekend. We were served by Tom who was extremely polite and helpful and the menu was very extensive!!!! We were spoilt for choice and very impressed with the drinks menu. My partner even found a beer on the menu that he last had in Rome! The place was spotless attention to detail was great.....toilets lovely! Really enjoyed our meals and presentation was wonderful. We eat out a lot and were very impressed, can't wait to come back!!

I was passing the area I was working and I do not live In the area was looking for somewhere to eat. I chose the Swan after looking inside to find a wood fired pizza oven. So of course I opted for a pizza large menu so lots of choice. The pizza itself was very big and ideal for a hungry person lots of topping and fresh and taste was amazing. Thank you and if am in the area will definitely be back.

This place serves maybe the best food in Burton on Trent area... Good pizza from a wood fired, Neapolitan style oven cooked by chaps who know what they are doing. I'd prefer more traditional Italian style pizzas with lighter toppings rather than the meat heavy tbh. Sunday lunch excellent. Shame the service isn't good and the food presentation is generally pretentious. Maybe because I'm almost a regular and am disliked by certain staff members I go with family rather than friends. Whatever - the Bulls Head at Repton has the same manageress and is better all round if you can get a table..

Came for a second time as the first was awful and thought another go was neededFirst round was a Saturday lunch. Lovely food but service was abysmal. The girl explained nothing like she did to other tables. We weren't table checked so I had to run off to ask for vinegar and mayonnaise. Husbands beer glass was cracked all through and kids screaming. Total disorder Second time we chose the bar as it was kid free and deemed quieter. Music was turned up too loud and not easy listening. Couldn't fault food yet again. Just wish service was quality and professional. Of the 3 pubs in the chain this one lets it down. The female staff are poor. Since this group took over the Swan, it's definitely one of our favourite places to go. With the reputation from the bulls head in Repton, this smaller restaurant doesn't disappoint with just as much choice on the menu (including the famous wood fired pizzas) not to forget the extensive choice on the drinks menu. There's plenty here to please everyone! Hanging kebabs are also well worth a try!

Myself and my husband came here on one of the hottest days of the year and was served prompt polite and I couldn't fault the service although we didn't have any of the food we def will next time.

Good first impression, good menu and drinks list. Portions are huge, beware. We will come back for dinner and give it a better try.

Four of us coming from opposite directions and meeting for lunch. The venue is very well appointed, comfortable, modernised without being tacky with a welcoming and cosy ambience. We all arrived early and had coffee on the patio before going to our table.Excellent real ales and exceedingly helpful and friendly staff. Our order was three wood fired oven pizza and one lasagne. Although the names and ingredients of the pizzas are not all clasically standard and traditional, they were substantial and mouth-wateringly well presented. I have to admit to having the most enjoyable pizza I've had in many many years.Our friends raved about the venue, the great service and the food but no one had room for puddings.The only downside for me was having to give my credit card number and security code with my on-line booking

A very disappointing dinner. We're big fans of the Bull in Repton, and as it is run by the same company thought this would be comparable. Instead we were left to hang around by the bar when we came in, then eventually found a table, where the waitress proceded to ignore us for half an hour. We eventually had to get our own drinks and menus ourselves. The meat was tough and stringy and not even hot. The staff looked glum and some of them were downright rude. Not going back.

Called in on the off chance. Greeted by friendly staff, very accommodating. Food ordered and delivered in reasonable time and everything cooked to perfection. All staff could not do too much for us and Head Chef came out to see if order was as requested. Would highly recommend a steak, which was cooked just as I asked for it. Overall a lovely meal in a very friendly atmosphere

All of us had fish n chips, was huge couldn't finish it. Service was quick, polite. Good quality food.

Been here several times never had cause to complain food always been amazing service always excellent (especially when served by Paul )and lovely atmosphere . One of our favourites .

Well I have been coming her for a good many years now. Due to its location it's nice to sit outside on a summers evening and meet with friends. However recently it has undergone a massive change and one I can only say is for the better. Food is wonderful and since the new owners have took over inside it's clean and well managed. Plenty of choice regarding drinks, food the menu is very good both on choice and quality. You will pay a bit more but it's worth every penny, it's definitely not pub grub. It was a very pleasant dinning experience and one I can only recommend you definitely try.

I went here with my partner for a meal and was surprised with the service ......we had our food brought to the table but had to ask for cutlery .food was cold so sent it back had to wait again for food to be cooked .after around 45mins someone came over and asked if everything was ok .......I said no it was terrible .......They just stood there and said oh oh oh .......asked to speak with manager he was no better so just wasted money on poor food ...........Beware on going here plenty of staff on just wandering around very disorganised .....

This was our first visit to the Swan in many years. The welcome from the staff was great, decoration homely and cosy, great menu choice and fast service. I would highly recommend the Yakitori Sticks and the pizza!

Came fir a meal here on Friday with husband and elderly father in law. We secured a table in the restaurant area which is very pleasant. I ordered the Greek Meze which was delicious.. Husband had short rib beef which he enjoyed and fatter in law tucked into his beef lasagna with gusto! The staff couldn't have been more attentive. Friendly service with efficiency is always pleasing and we were not disappointed. The recent menu changes presented us with some deliberation and we look forward to another visit soon to try different dishes that are new. The bar staff are friendly too and tge range of drinks available is extensive. I urge you to try the seaweed gin if you haven't indulged so far -wonderful ! I have it in goid authority (husband) that the Pedigree is pretty good too!

over priced food not that good, been twice now and hope i dont go again in a hurry, was once a great village pub with good quality food and drinks. we met friends at the bar were we got pushed and shoved out the way by serving staff, very rude. You are sent emails saying you only get 2 hours at the table you cant really sit anywhere else but tables and we like to stay at table for as long as we want. You are crammed in so when everyone is sitting its hard to get round them.

The menu is amazing, so much choice, was so difficult to choose, in the end we had 6 of the mini sticks, so delicious, fish and chips for main, absolutely huge and so tasty, and the Greek meze, divine! Really friendly staff, everything beautifully presented, loved it. Also, there is a sign in the garden saying ask for a blanket or hot water bottle if you are cold, nice touch.

Poor service and food cold waited nearly hour and half before food arrived, then it was cold. Won't be rushing back ☹️

We pulled in and both car park and overspill car park were nearlly full, never the less we went in and had no problem finding a table in the large dinning area.The menu was much more varied than the usual and the prices were reasonable.The service was great, service with a smile ! in these days quite hard to find.My recommendation would be fish and chips, a lot of places advertise "whale of a fish" and what you get is really a normal size, not here you will need a healthy appetite to clear your plate. We will definately return.

Recently re-furbed and looking very nice (quite a modern look to it with loads of reclaimed wood) the White Swan is situated in the pretty village of Walton on Trent just off the A38 between Burton and Alrewas.It styles itself as a gastro-local and craft beer pub and carries an impressive selection of both bottled / canned beers all of which are generally well kept and served.The menu(s) are interesting and consist of a wood fired pizza menu, main menu, and kids menu.Much of the food is good (not spectacular but better than your average chain pub) but at the price (£12 for a burger and chips for example) it should be good and not everything reaches expections (I've always found the chips to be particularly grim for instance)Staff are young and enthusiastic and standards are generally kept quite high.It's better than your average Hungry Horse or Flaming Grill but loses points for being a bit overpriced while not always delivering on food quality (I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could)

Having had a disastrous meal at Christmas (i.e. The soup was stone cold), we ventured back for a late lunch in May. The grounds were being taken in hand, and the construction of pergolas seemed to be underway. The service was leisurely but good, and only a few diners were in for lunch this day. For me, the seating is a little cramped. I had a burger, which was unpleasant and dried out, my Hubby had a pie which was good. But I notice the small things - warm white wine, slightly sticky tables and an overall impression that it's good but not great. Perhaps it will be?

I am not usually into reviewing a place more than once however I will make an exception. Went on Sunday with my boyfriend and Son for dinner. Yet again the service was faultless, the staff are attentive, friendly and cannot do enough for you. We all had the pizza's as this has become a favourite of ours, though you must ensure you have room as they are enormous and just moreish. My Son decided to have a desert which was the Gooey Cookie he is somewhat a desert aficionado now and stipulated this was the best desert he has ever had which is saying something. Will definitely be back again soon. Thank you again.

The food was delicious, as usual, the staff attentive & polite etc. Only minor negative is when you arrive there isn't an obvious place to tell someone you've arrived for a table so you have to queue at the bar... that aside, we've booked for our next visit already! Oh - & share the pizza!! They're enormous. You can have 2 different fillings on one pizza so no reason not to :)

My wife and kids were thinking of have no something to eat and suggested going to the white swan What an absolutely amazing place . 2 menus with one with normal food and then there is the pizza menu which are wood fired . The kids had pizza and mac cheese and my wife had pizza which was huge and I had a beef stick which was one of the biggest kebabs I've had in years . Truly attentive staff who came to your service and didn't keep pestering us when eating Lovely drinks menu with lovely cocktails and mocktails. Very filling meal and at such a good price with amazing staff and ambiance Highly recommended to anybody and we we certainly be visiting again

Comfortable and welcoming pub/restaurant, with pleasant surroundings. Despite being quite busy, service was attentive, friendly and prompt.. Menu choice was varied, original and reasonably priced. Added bonus was that an interesting guest beer was available in the form of Purity Gold. No complaints whatsoever.Will certainly revisit.

Just dropped in on our way home from a weekend away. Had not visited in years and heard it had been taken over by the Bulls Head at Repton, which we've visited a few times.We were not disappointed. Food was lovely. Impressive Gin and Cocktail menu. I opted for a wine this evening - was not disappointed. Good atmosphere, and informed that there was going to be a quiz on that evening too. Which was great to know for a future visit - we do love a quiz!We will be back.

Came here on the recommendation of friends, however what a shock it was. The restaurant has got so much potential, it's a great location and has a good feel to it. That said waiting over an hour for substandard food just didn't cut it. The service was very poor. On a positive note the pizzas did look great (wish I had one) and the manager didn't sugar coat the issue and was honest about their mistakes. She didn't try to make excuses she just told us how it was and could only apologise - she corrected the bill very generously which was a nice touch.Would give it a chance again in the future. We had friends that visited the night before and had nothing but good things to say.

Beautiful Victorian building, serving great food. Staff very hospitable informative happy and helpfull. Would revisit.

This was my 4th visit to The Swan at Walton and, again, it was absolutely lovely. The food was fantastic, had cocktails for the first time - they're delicious, and the service was perfect. Our waitress for the evening, Jasmine, was absolutely lovely, it's nice to be served my someone with a smile on their face and a sense of humour! I would recommend The Swan to anyone and I will definitely be returning!

My friend won a competition for £10 off cocktail and invited myself and two others for a meal here.AMAZING!Everything about the place is fab, the staff were super friendly and the pizza was gorgeous We tried three different cocktails between us; the watering can cocktail (for 2 people to share) the potion cocktail (for 1 person) and the bath tub cocktail (for 2 people to share) which was by far my favourite but all tasted amazing.The atmosphere in the restaurant was really great too and there was good background music that wasn't too loud so we could still chat.Overall fab experience and I'll be back very soon, thank you!

Second visit since the pub was taken over. The swan had been in decline for years, its good to see it turning around and business picking up. Only a quick stop for pizza and a pint. No complaints about the beer and food. Just try not to sit to close to the pizza oven, it's a tad warm. Will return at some point for a meal.

We are regulars of the Bulls Head at Repton so thought we'd give the swan a go. It was a busy day so we sat in the bar area. My boyfriend went upto the bar to order and was literally waiting for about 20 minutes. The bar man kept serving people who had only just got to the bar so when he attended to somebody else my boyfriend eventually told him that he had been waiting a while and he was next and his reply was 'well I can do both' and continued to serve the other person. We had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for both our starters and mains and when our main arrived (we had the open steak sandwich which we love at the bulls head) we literally had about 5 tiny pieces of meat on each one and hardly any sauce so it was really dry. We would have told somebody but we literally couldn't get the attention of any staff so just left it. It's a shame because we often go to the bulls head and the joiners arms but now I'm not sure that I would return to any.

A long way to go before it's anywhere near the bulls head at repton The rear of the building is very dark and if you struggle with your eyesight then you have very little chance of reading the menuWe had an unfortunate meal with a dirty glass and a cold pizza this was replaced but this shouldn't have been served up in the first place..The pizza oven is central to the seating area so all food should be hot..All In all a disappointing family meal.

We moved into the village just after Christmas and have to say how wonderful it is to have a pub like this on our doorstep. Staff are super, always helpful and friendly. Food is very good and excellent quality. We cannot fault each time we have eaten here we enjoy it. Thank you to the team well done. The Birds!

This is my second visit and I was equally pleased with the great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing pizzas.A really nice place for couples or family/friend gatherings over fab food. The roast dinners and burgers being served looked really good too-on the list for our next visit soon!

Came here on a Saturday nite 29th April could not fault food or service.Steak was amazing we had a fantastic nite and service was excellent I think it was Paul who looked after our table and he explained everything perfectly great nite our 2nd time there just gets better keep it up thank you

What a great place. Went with friends and we have never laughed so hard over drinking from a bathtub. Went for dinner and was greeted by very friendly and attentive staff. A special thanks to Paul who looked after us all evening. Everything was explained in relation to ordering from the menu to having pizza which are made no cooked separately. The food was hot, excellently cooked and delivered on very quirky serving plates. Now for the finale, they have many drinks and delicious cocktails of which, we sampled a few, the last one being the bathtub for sharing, it was quite literally amazing. More than enough for four people and delicious and quite literally served in a mini bathtub with rubber ducks, sorbet made to look like foam and edible bath pearls, quite literally heaven. Food and drink prices are reasonable and the whole place has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend it.

I used to bring my mum and dad here about 10 years ago but the standards started to decline and we've not been here for the last 3 years. A friend mentioned how good the food was and so I brought mum here this week and could hardly believe the transformation. The interior has been brought up to date and it is now a cosy but modern place to eat. Mum is elderly and wasn't keen on her fish served an a slate and mushy peas in a mini-saucepan - she would have preferred a plate! However, she enjoyed the meal and my mushroom pancakes were one of the nicest food I have had in ages!! It seems this pub is on the up. Well done Matt and team. Please stock tomato juice without the spice. Mum ordered tomato juice but couldn't drink it because it was so peppery!

Came for a second time as the first was awful and thought another go was neededFirst round was a Saturday lunch. Lovely food but service was abysmal. The girl explained nothing like she did to other tables. We weren't table checked so I had to run off to ask for vinegar and mayonnaise. Husbands beer glass was cracked all through and kids screaming. Total disorder Second time we chose the bar as it was kid free and deemed quieter. Music was turned up too loud and not easy listening. Couldn't fault food yet again. Just wish service was quality and professional. Of the 3 pubs in the chain this one lets it down. The female staff are poor. Really lovely lunch, lots of choice on the menu, staff were great and very attentive. The homemade lemonade was amazing- the cocktail menu looked great too!

This was our second visit and we took along two friends. They were tremendously impressed with the very friendly staff, the exceptional service, the food and the excellent selection of beers and ciders, as were we. The place certainly didn't let us down!

We do like this place and they do everything really well. We knew that they would be busy when we booked so we had to take an early table at 5.45pm to be clear by 7.30pm but that was ok. We arrived early and got a pint of Pedigree and a G and T and were taken straight to our table so it gave us an extra 15 minutes. We had the lovely yakitori sticks to start. Really recommended but you need a minimum of 2, preferably 3 to make it a worthwhile starter. Then I had the Las Vegas pizza. Their pizza oven (absolute no gas or electric) makes it really delicious, thin crust. Christine had a fillet steak with peppercorn sauce (creature of habit) but it was delicious. We had puddings, of course....well you have to!

Last visit was family for Mum's 85th Birthday. I have been many times to this pub over the years but since Chilled pubs took it over always had a very positive experience. Great food, good service and reasonably priced.

Thought we'd give this a try since it is now part of 'the Bulls Head ' group. Food was excellent, sharing starter was amazing - could have eaten it to myself as a main course. I chose the chicken supreme as a main and what a choice - delicious. Have to say, never 100% impressed with the food or service at the Bulls Head, but The Swan scores highly on both. Drinks prices are a bit hefty, a decent bottle of wine will cost you and they could do with with an increased selection of beers. Definitely worth a visit, but if you want the ambiance and atmosphere then the Bulls Head is better.

Stopped here on our way north. Exceeded our expectations. Food is beautifully presented and tasty. Menu is innovative.

Popped into The Swan at Walton on Trent with friends and their greyhound today. We sat in the pub part rather than the restaurant as we had the dog and the (manager / owner?) came over and explained menu choices and how our area was bar service but the resaurant was seated service. I really appreciated the fast service and information. She also brought a bowl of water and a jar of dog treats. Lovely lady. We ordered a pie - which was cooked in its pot and absolutely packed generously with meat. Beautifully presented on a wooden platter with really fresh looking potatoes and vegetables and a mini saucepan of gravy. I know her dad loved it and one of my friends said that would be her choice next time she visited.The rest of us had pizza. Oh my goodness. The menu told us that the flour was imported from Italy and the pizzas were cooked in a proper wood fired oven. When they came out on wooden platters they were enormous! I had Stilton and wild mushrooms with spinach - and the pizza was paper thin. Lovely pizza oil on the table as well infused with a hint of chilli. Everything tasted so fresh and was beautifully presented. Really impressive. A nice touch on the menu was the back page with a message from the new owner Matt, promoting his REALLY (capital letters) great pub and how he wants the area to be proud of it. And I'm sure they are. We sat in a part of the pub where the walls had been decorated with old doors and shutters. There was a wood burning stove, leather chairs and an old butcher's block as a low table. It was really cosy and I would have happily spent the afternoon reading a book in the snug. People sat at the bar were friendly and spoke to us. The staff were friendly, welcoming, efficient and clearly hard working. We'd tried to visit before but the place was ram packed - now I know why. What a find! Matt should be rightfully proud of his REALLY good pub and its staff, service and great food. Definitely coming back again. Juliet from Polesworth

We went last weekend on a for a late Mothers Days Sunday Lunch. Lovely location and ideal table in the main building. Didn't order starters but had mainly roast dinners. The Beef, Lamb and Pork Sunday lunches were delicious - albeit the lamb was a little bit tough. My 3 year old son had the Chicken and Mushroom Pie from the kids menu, however this was a little too sophisticated for his age with Leeks etc in the Pie so he didn't eat it. Puddings were also nice and a nice Mothers Day Ice Cream player was a great touch. Will be going again as a couple and intend to try the Steaks as the table behind had the Sirloin and it looked very tasty and well presented.

Had a lovely meal and the food as great! The freshly cooked stone baked pizza's are gorgeous, variety of toppings and flavours. If you're hungry have one to yourself but if not, you could quite easily share one as they are huge!! The pub is run by its sister pub 'The Bull's Head' at Repton so you know you'll get a good steak. The service is generally good but on a couple of occasions, we've had to remind the waiter/waitress that we where still there! This was both on a busy and non busy visit? But all in all you'll get a good meal with friends or for any family celebration.

My wife and I went around 5pm on Mothers Day recently. Obviously it was busy but we managed to find a table and ordered our meals. Unfortunately my wife's main course arrived in good time but my main course was not served at the same time. I alerted the staff and after an apology I was told my main course would not be much longer. My wife finished her meal and then my main course arrived after she had finished.I provided feedback to the pub through the White Swan website but sadly to date my feedback has not been acknowledged, which has prompted me to leave a review on TripAdvisor today.

We ate here as a party of 6 on a saturday evening and arrived in plenty of time for our booking. Our table wasn't ready so we had drinks in the bar area first. But this is when our issues with service began. We were forgotten about and had to ask if our table was ready. The waitress said "oh I didn't know you were here". Shown to our table she said someone would be over soon to explain the menu - no one appeared. I was disappointed that we had 2 tables for 4 which we couldnt pull together because the bench seat arms were in the way; but we made the best of it though it wasn't ideal. It took ages for our order to be taken; but the food arrived quite quickly and it was very tasty. Our table was cleared and we waited. No one came to offer dessert menus, I had to go and find someone to ask for them. The waiting staff were all congregated around the reception till; they were apologetic but sorry, customer service is all important.Desserts were very good though :-)So the food is good, but the service could be better. We would go back though and hopefully service will be better next time.

We visited today for lunch for the first time. I am gluten free and don't eat meat (do eat fish) and therefore find it very difficult sometimes to find appropriate restaurants. They do cater for a gluten free diet at the swan and they made me gluten free battered fish and chips, which I must say was amazing. My dad and fiancé had pizzas which looked incredible, am very disappointed they don't have gluten free pizzas as an option however. The staff were very friendly and the layout and decor is very laid back and cosy. We will definitely be returning and if gluten free pizzas make an appearance, I can only assume we will become the new regulars.

Visited The White Swan before Christmas with high expectations after visiting The bulls Head several times. I work nearby so thought it would be great to have a good restaurant nearby. I visited with a group of friends and was very disappointed, couldn't get a drink, the till wasn't working and the place was basically a shambles. After getting seated we eventually were asked for a drinks order, (we had already pre ordered our meals), my food was barely warm and I almost complained that there was some lamb on my fat...Maybe it has improved since or it may have just been a bad night but I am in no rush to go back and was left disappointed with the whole experience
