Having read all the great reviews, we decided to pop in for lunch, meeting up with family who were holidaying in Mablethorpe. Wish we hadnt bothered. Service was good although why they want your name in order to bring out the coffees was a bit of a mystery. Now we come to the food ! One steak pie which was supposed to be "home made" and no way that it was. It was the thinnest pie I've ever seen with hardly any filling. Was accompanied by the cheapest, thinnest frozen chips. Then there was a jacket potato with chillie & cheese, potato was not cooked all the way through. My offering was a cheese & onion toastie, again very thin with hardly any filling served on the cheapest budget bread you can get and with a pot of coleslaw that was so small you couldnt get your fork into it. All in all it was disappointing, not good value for money and we will not be back any time soon.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

We have visited this place quite a few times now which says alot for us. The staff are very friendly, the cafe very clean . We had a small English breakfast which was plenty for us and the Lincoln sausage was very nice in particular. They also have a fab selection of home made cakes . Well worth a visit.

We came to Lincolnshire for a few days and we dropped by on the off chance of getting food, we got there just after 6pm and the car park was full we was told by Debbie that we could dine there but just needed to wait for a table ,I am so glad we waited the food was delicious, Debbie explained it was 50% off which we couldn't believe, and the staff was all friendly , the pub itself was warm and very clean, Debbie was so organised and very happy and chatty with everyone she spoken to which is rare these days especially when so busy, we got a lovely welcome, there was 2 other young girls working who also worked very hard , the place is lovely we wish we was staying longer but we will definitely be back in march, and a bonus i was referred to as "young lady" which made my day being as I'm 62 years old thank-you to all. I would definitely recommend this place , Carmen and steve

The restaurant looks lovely on arrival but that’s as far as it goes as the food is well below average Over cooked eggs, stale bread and a tasteless meat pie The chips were overcooked too We were so hungry that we ate some of it but on the bright side it was a nice sunny day and the Coke was fizzy We did feed our disappointment back but got a lack lust reply of “I will feed this back” Shame we won’t be going back the place was totally empty apart from us for the whole visit on a Saturday dinner time which is a shame is it has great potential and was recommended but recommendation is sadly subjective but overcooked food is not

Rang up and ordered a takeaway and was told at the end of my order that they had run out of prawn crackers😳 Collected my order at the allotted time and drove home, approximately 5mins. I opened the bag and the food had leaked all over. The packaging has changed to cardboard boxes which don’t seal. I plated the food up and it looked very different to the usual dishes and the portions were much smaller than usual. I started to eat and the food was cold. I tried to ring the restaurant but it was engaged. I decided to microwave the food and started eating. The red thai curry didn’t taste like it normally does and it consisted of 8 pieces of chicken, 3 small pieces of red pepper, 1 slice of mushroom and copious amounts of bamboo shoots, they made up 90% of the dish. I also had a chicken pad thai which was a much smaller portion and tasted very bitter. The food was average to say the least and nowhere near the normal standard and quality I have grown to love from this restaurant. I ate a few mouthfuls and left the rest. The reason I order a takeaway is because I want a good quality meal cooked by a professional chef who has mastered their craft to make my meal the best tasting it can be using the freshest ingredients available and in return make me want to return again and again, unfortunately this was no better than your average packet mix meal. Very Very disappointed. It seems like the restaurant is trying to cut costs with the new packaging, the bamboo shoot fillers and the much smaller portions. It’s resulting loosing me as a customer as I will no longer be ordering from the Siam Orchid again.

Everything is to like at this pub. We had a warm welcome from the staff and customers, the food was delicious (steak and mushroom pie with fresh vegetables for me; home-made fishcakes, chips and salad for my husband), two big fires warmed us up on a cold day, the entrance and the rooms are delightfully and comfortably furnished and the food and drinks represented excellent value for money. We'll be there again before long...

After having had a fantastic experience here midweek during the summer, we promised ourselves we would be back for Sunday dinner. We booked by email, which was confirmed within minutes, Howe when we arrived there was no record of the booking. I was able to find the confirmation email. We were told that we could be accommodated but it would have to be in the bar area as there were 3 other bookings which already had restaurant tables reserved. We were advised to pick a table and they would set it up for us. We showed them where we would like to sit and waited for someone to bring some seating to the table. After 10 minutes we were still standing so found a different table which had seats in place. (We had already informed them that my husband was recovering from a broken ankle) Eventually the waitress came and gave us cutlery and placemats but no salt and pepper. She took our meat orders and I asked whether the veg would include cauliflower cheese, as I would like to not have it, as I have an allergy/intolerance. We waited a further half an hour for our meals, which came with the vegetables served on a tray, including the cauliflower cheese. There was only one spoon which was resting in the cheese sauce so I had to request another one. I then dished myself up a spoonful of swede/carrot mash and one broccoli floret. I did try to dish up some cabbage but found that when lifted from the plate, the cabbage came out from under the cauliflower cheese and covered in the sauce, so I had to not have cabbage. After the meal, the waitress came to clear the table. She dropped some vegetables on the tablecloth and asked if we wanted puddings to which I responded yes. After waiting for 38 minutes with no sign of the waitress to clean the table or take our pudding order, we decided to leave. On taking our payment the bar staff asked if everything had been ok, so I mentioned the above. He simply said, ‘sorry about that ‘but the mains were ok?’ I chose not to continue with the conversation, as my husband had overheard the barman say that he was going to rip someone’s head off. We are really disappointed as we had been telling everyone about how good our experience in the summer was. To top it all, there was a very large dog in the area which smelled strongly and a group of young children also came and used the pool table right next to us, despite there being a notice advising that nobody under 16 was allowed to use it. Another customer did point it out but was ignored. One or two little things we could have overlooked/forgiven but unfortunately there were too many today and we won’t be back

It’s not obvious from the menu but this cafe has lots of gluten free options for paninis etc and a couple of “cakes”. I had a very nice bacon, Brie and cranberry panini and a trillionaire tart. My husband had a blt and a biscoff cake. Despite being busy the service was pretty quick and friendly. The food was enjoyable. If I had to be picky I gluten free cakey cake would have been nice to have.
