Brother & I visited recently on recommendation. Generally weren't disappointed. Nice pint of Timothy Taylors each, giant Yorkshire & house burger ordered all well cooked & presented. Atmosphere a little disappointing & front of house could do with a little polish. But would go again.

We visited today as a party of 12. When we booked over the phone we were sent a menu so we could choose our food before arriving ( to speed up the process to give us a better experience). Tasha greeted us and was our main server. She was excellent from start to finish. The roast dinners were great and enjoyed by all. Plenty of choices for dessert and good beers and wines. All in all a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Thank you

We went for Sunday Lunch and all three of us enjoyed our meal. We each chose a roast dinner, two beef and one turkey. The meals came with all trimmings, fresh vegetables served separately. Clearly good quality products were used, my beef was cooked well and was tender and delicious. Extra gravy was brought (separate beef and turkey gravies was a nice touch). The portions were generous and certainly satisfied. All staff (bar and waiting) were professional and welcoming. The venue was busy but we were served in reasonable time and the servers were attentive to our needs. The environment is very pleasant indeed, attractive decor and very clean. The Cross Roads is a clearly popular venue for Sunday lunch, and rightly so. Good food, cooked well in a lovely country pub - just what we wanted.

What a great place to visit. The Crossroads is a warm and friendly place to be. It oozes charm with such a welcoming atmosphere created by the landlords and chef, the kitchen and bar staff team. The bar staff team obviously enjoy their jobs and have a great rapore with the landlords, offering a friendly but professional touch that just adds to the whole experience. The chef creates some amazingly tasty meals that are very filling and such value for money. The Sunday roasts with a variety of meats. The interesting weekday menu and gluten free, vegetarian or vegan options are there too. The sweets and cakes are a must to try also. I am visiting from Australia and have returned a few times during my stay here to eat and enjoy an evening relaxing. The locals have invited me to join them to chat about life down under. There are theme nights to help create variety and involve the community, friendly patrons, an ample car park and a snug area. Back to the menu and the meals; I just must say more. The meals are served on piping hot plates, this means the meals are still hot when they arrive and stay hot. They are good quality pub meals but of such a high standard, it clearly shows the skill and pride of the professionally dressed chef and kitchen team. I wish I could cook to that standard. The Crossroads is most certainly worth a visit. I strongly recommend a booking as it gets quite busy, particularly on theme nights. Check out the sweets and cakes, it'll take time; thats all I am going to hint at. For a country that relies so much upon tourism, the landlords and team have certainly got it right.

We were quite full but manged to squeeze in a home made pudding (as well as a piece of chocolate cake to take home..!).

We were travelling back from a concert in Lincoln to Grimsby and thought we would drop off for a drink ( Hubby & I had previously popped in on our way back from Nottingham, hence why we wanted to call in again with friends)…beautiful day for a change and the beer garden is lovely…..we did feel peckish but seemed like they only served full meals when we looked at the menu but it wasn’t an issue….the manger came out and asked if we would like to eat but explained we really just want a snack type of food and we said a ‘Bowl of Chips’ would be good, he then said ‘I can sort that for you guys’…. How accommodating was that?…in fact I think we started a trend because there were quite a few bowls of chips coming out after!….excellently clean and very attentive staff…..the toilets were very clean and lots of extras in there for the ladies including deodorant!…well done guys you are doing a great job, I do hope you go from strength to strength, we definitely will return…..Thank you for your hospitality….😁

First visit since it came under new management. Ideally situated for us between Louth and Lincoln, the pub has recently been given an impressive makeover. The overall impression of the pub, was of a welcoming, cosy, but still spacious pub, with spotless facilities, a well stocked and well kept bar, and fabulous food. Add to that it's location and ample parking facilities, and I would think that this place will almost certainly become a magnet for locals, ramblers and holidaymakers alike. Friendly hosts Peter and Janet can justifiably be proud of their new venture. A word of warning - make sure you are hungry when you go, the portions are very generous.

On arriving at this pub at 7.15pm and at 7.21pm my friend and I ordered 2 simple meals. Restaurant already had just 4 people dining and a couple with a baby in a highchair had finished their meals. The baby threw more food on the floor than the couple had eaten and the waitress cleared two plates that were hardly touched. Alarm bells were already ringing but we were hungry. The couple and baby left looking displeased. No other customers came into the restaurant at this point, so still just the four people dining and the two of us. At 7.55pm we were fed up with waiting and told the waitress/barmaid that the wait was unacceptable just to cook two plain and simple meals and we wanted to cancel the order and asked her for a refund. Fast forward another 5 minutes and still no sign of a refund. All I got was we're very busy tonight. Very busy with all 6 customers?I went to the bar and spoke to a male waiter/barman about the refund and then I asked to speak to the manager.Fast forward another 13 minutes and after 3 visits to the kitchen, he kept returning to the bar, stating 'chef' (and I use that term loosely) will be out soon to give you a refund. 'Chef' after playing for more time in order to avoid giving us a refund suddenly appeared with 2 meals (and I also use that term loosely) I stated that I'd cancelled the order long ago. 'Chef' replied 'well the meals are here now, they're cooked so you can't have a refund'. Full marks for attempting the bully tactics. When we actually looked at the two meals and the state of the 'chef' who cooked them we didn't even sit down, we left in disgust!

Extremely friendly staff - moving a table for us nearer the log fire and making sure all was good throughout the evening.Nice to see the pub full of local people, drinking, eating and some watching the rugby. There is a tv/games room and a quieter room with a log fire.Menu not extensive but good, home cooked food. Took a while to come but who cares when it is freshly cooked and you're having a relaxing time!Thank you for such a nice welcome.

Nice, relaxed local serving good home-cooked food and excellent ale. Friendly service. All the food appears to be cooked to order, so it is fresh and well-prepared.

We decided to try the Cross Roads after it was recommended to us recently although it's not in our back yard as such! It's not hard to find as it lies between Wragby and Louth in the Wolds. First impressions were good, pub was clean and the landlord was welcoming, nice to see him wearing a shirt and tie, something you don't see often in most pubs now.I tried the Batemans XB which was excellent and I've had a few in my time! Although they were busy we managed to get a table for the two of us.We didn't have to wait long for the food which was hot along with the plates! The food was excellent especially the Haddock which was fresh that day.Would go again.

Stopped for lunch en-route to the coast. We both had the special - fresh haddock and chips in a beer batter. The fish, and especially the batter, was superb, but the portions were huge - actually too big for us.The landlord was quietly spoken but friendly.Overall a very enjoyable meal,

Once again, we had the pleasure of having a meal at the Crossroads and we were not disappointed. Denise and Mike are very professional and we enjoyed a lovely evening. Food excellent as usual, atmosphere warm and comfortable, prices very reasonable! What more could we ask for? Will we return?, you bet we will!

I went to the Crossroads a few weeks ago as my family and I were travelling, despite the good atmosphere and service- the food came out greasy and the pub landlord 'Mike' spoke to one of his members of staff in an appalling manner.

I approached this with some trepidation for a birthday meal and get together for my family. many years ago we used this pub as our weekly eat out destination and spent many happy hours and celebrations there. Then it was taken over and our favourite cosine disappeared of the menu.It was my wife's and she said she would like to have a family meal at the Crossroads. We were definitely not disappointed and all the dishes served were devoured with relish and not a morsel left, sorry no doggy bags here :-) Lovely atmosphere and the serving staff very attentive, mine hosts were very welcoming and eager to make our visit a pleasant one. we will definitely be back to try more of the tempting menu.We are a family of 9, grandparents to teenage grandchildren and everyone voted a 10/10 TUVM and great value.

Myself and my partner decided to stop off for Sunday Lunch today on our way home, save cooking and we are glad that we did. We had a lovely home cooked meal that was very well presented. It was not like some places where you go and it is out of a packet. The meat Beef and Pork was tasty and the way that the chef cooked the vegetables and what they were cooked in was very delicious. . You must try the Bread and Butter Pudding. So certainly a lovely lunch was had.

Pulled in here on way home from Skegness - very quiet on a Thurs lunch time. Locals at bar very freindy as was host and hostess. Landlord recommened his wifes omlette made with three fresh farm eggs. Sat outside in pleasant garden with a drink. I had a cheese omlette and my husband had a mushroom one - both had a small side salad and were delicious and good price at approx £3 each. Will call again.

The X Roads was a fantastic improvement on our trip the week before into the wolds. Lots of choice, large portions, very tasty and great value. Why spend time driving into town paying to park the car, paying over the odds, and having no personal service when we have this wonderful venue on our doorstep. A hot tip is to allow leave room for one of Denise's home made puddings.

We went to The Cross Roads Inn for a meal last night as we were staying a few minutes down the road, the man behind the bar was very welcoming, showed us menus and even went through how a couple of the meals cooked, the food was excellently presented, piping hot and tasted amazing. Not too pricey, would have happily paid more for this meal.

We were staying locally for the weekend and had a stroll to the local.Open fire with chairs arranged around made for a comfy couple of hours after a days walking. The hosts Mike and Denise made us feel welcome and were very affable. They are obviously experienced in the trade and have forthcoming plans for the Inn. The home cooked food on the menu looked good and we wished we had known about their Fish and Chip Takeaway before we had plumped for a Chinese from Wragby the previous evening. Will definitely visit again.

This is our local pub, which the landlords, Mike and Denise, took over in June 2013. They operate a very friendly, welcoming pub, serving well kept Bateman's real ale and traditional home cooked food. We recently had a great evening and meal there on Valentines Day, with lovely food including their homemade Bakewell dessert, which has become a firm favourite locally. We had mains of roast top side of beef and paprika chicken, both of which were excellent. Previously we have also visited for Sunday lunch on a number of occasions, which has always been delicious. Roast beef, turkey and a great array of tasty vegetables and trimmings - what's not to like! With so many pubs closing in the present climate, we feel very privileged to have such a friendly local pub, where the food and beer is so good. They have recently started selling takeaway fish and chips, which is great when we don't want to cook but want to stay in for the evening. Denise is also planning to open up a cafe facility at the pub from the 15th March, called 'Coffee Corner' and serving breakfasts, coffees, speciality teas, lunches, homemade cakes and scones. We wish them all the luck with this, and hope it takes off as it will be great to have somewhere in the village for breakfast or afternoon tea.

We have had a few meals at The Cross Roads Inn, and have thoroughly enjoyed the home cooked food, and especially home made desserts, which we find when eating out in other restaurants/pubs, it's hard to find home made desserts.I would thoroughly recommend you give them a try, as the current owners are really trying to make this pub the heart of the community. We also attended the 'Carols and Chestnuts' on Sunday before Christmas, the pub was very busy, lovely and warm with roaring open fire, and it had a great atmosphere. So from me, keep going and you'll get there!

We have just got back from our Xmas eve lunch at the Cross Roads . First of all for a Xmas eve the pub was virtually empty no Xmas crackers on the table and it was to cold to take your coat off . We mentioned this to the hosts but they just said the heating was on . The wait for our food was a long one , despite there being only 2 other people eating . We were a party of 7 and all had either turkey or beef , 2 turkey meals were sent back because they were only luke warm . In all it was very disappointing and we explained our concerns to the hosts who did apologise but made no effort to compensate by offering a drink or anything else . Would definatly not recommend this to anyone .

This pub changed hands in June and the new proprietors are very keen to make it successful. The welcome is very friendly and they are working on trying to provide an increasing range of mainly home-cooked pub fare. The menu is a bit 'old school' currently (although, given a bit of notice, the landlady would do her best to provide for different dietary needs). The home made bread and butter pudding was excellent! This is not a pub to go to if you are in search of up-market sophistication but it has a sheltered little beer garden, good beer, reasonably priced food and wine and very welcoming hosts and staff.

Friday Fish & Chips with a pint of XXXB for £9 is excellent VFM. If you're used to a huge piece of batter with a bit of fish inside then this is different. You get a big haddock with a light crispy batter and chunky homemade chips. Sauces served in a dish not plastic sachets. Beer was as it should be and service was fine. I'm not reeling off superlatives: we had a good meal at a good price and we'll eat there again. Btw - the service was typical of a friendly rural pub but I didn't need to feed a small army - just me & the wife.

We went here on a Saturday night in early December. It is simple pub food with good quality ingredients. But what makes them stand out is that the chef really cook. They make their own pies and offer good variety on the menu. The vegetables were cooked to perfection - this is my measure of a good pub since they are often soggy and sitting in water. The vegetables here were nice and crisp as they should be.The treacle and stem ginger tart for pudding is the best I have ever had and I would go back for that alone. The service was warm and friendly. It was also very reasonably priced. This is a traditional pub that serves excellent food at a fair price.

In the vain of the previous review i,m just wondering what we all did before the Internet gave us all(its seems)the right to insult, the right to upset and basically gossip and be downright horrible! It may well seem the Landlady was caught on a bad day....but do 2 wrongs make a right??Also in same the vain.....Ask virtually anyone who uses the Pub in any regularity, and they will tell you the food is First Class,From Trained Chefs, not "Cooks".They will also tell you since the Landlord and Landlady took over, they have put 110% into making the Pub welcoming and a centre of the community with great food, best round this area anyway by a mile! They have like many of us fell on hard times, poor health, things are hard enough folks, how about a bit of compassion?,bit of understanding?I cant write a bad reference for a previous employee, why do sites like this, facebook and the like give that right?I hope more than "1" person finds this review helpful...sort of tells a story doesnt it??Why not pop in and maybe sort issues out man to man, instead of web to man....you never know, might get a free pint.Happy New Year Everyone

This has been a good pub in a good village for many years. It's changed hands several times over the last 15 years, and is now run by the owner who is - for unfathomable reasons known only to herself - hell-bent on upsetting and ostracising her customers, despite their being her bill-payers. We've eaten there a few times this year in the hope that it would have become a little warmer towards customers.I made a booking in person three weeks in advance of my wife's 60th birthday, for 14 friends and family. I requested the small dining room off the bar, with the fire. This was written in the diary. I dropped in on the afternoon of the event to to finalise seating arrangement, and the owner's first words were,Her: "Well, if it's for 14, you'll not be using the room."Me: "The booking's been made for 3 weeks though for the room."Her: "I've tried calling you this afternoon 3 times to say that we can only seat 12"Me: "Oh - what number did you dial?"Her: "<home number>"Me: "Ah, we've been out. Well, how can we resolve this?"Her: "You can sit somewhere else"Me: "But we specifically asked for the room. It's nicer, and there's plenty room as far as we're concerned."Her: "Look, this is my restaurant and I know how to run it."Me: "Is it a fire regs or health & safety thing? If so, I can't argue. If not, I know it's your restaurant, but we'll be fine."Her: "I'm not about to rearrange the tables. Anyway, I wouldn't be using these tables anyway."Me: OK, so what tables would you be using?"Her: "Whichever ones I decide"Me: "Look, it's a special birthday celebration and I don't want to fall out with you over this. We'll definitely fit in here without any problems."Her: "Huh. Well, it's up to you then."Me: "OK then, we'll be in the room. Can I confirm the fire will be on, as I asked when I booked?"Her: <sarcastically> "Yes, the fire will be on. Yes, you can squash yourselves in the room if that's what you want to do."After driving home very upset and reflecting, I cancelled the booking after explaining my reasons, and the response was, "OK, fine."Ask virtually anyone in East Barkwith how welcoming they find the Crossroads under this management, and they will tell the same story. Good food, reasonable ales, snotty attitude. This is our first-hand experience, and is an honest account. Needless to say, they've lost not only our goodwill and our business, but that of at least ten other local good people. Happily, another pub/restaurant were very glad to accommodate us at 3 hours' notice. We'll not be back here.
