Fantastic food , called in on a midweek March evening - lovely atmosphere, bar lady Tracey was very welcoming and friendly. Coal/wood fire lit so pub nice and warm , a few other customers but not too busy. Good menu and specials board. Food was delicious . From specials board - trio of sausages and mash, chicken Veronique - absolutely delicious. Will Definitely return when in area .

We called with literally 2 minutes notice on NYE as we’d booked at Bank House across the road but the service was so appalling that we walked out. Sangams fitted us in with no fuss, and we had great service and a delicious meal at really reasonable prices. The lamb & paneer curry and lemon & cashew rice were particularly good. Thanks so much!

Came as part of a group of approx 17. We had pre booked for a Christmas meal, and had also given our meal choices ahead of time. The service was terrible/slow in the extreme (As in we were waiting over 1.5 hours between starters and mains - we had booked for a 2pm lunch, our mains came out at 4.30pm). Some dishes were missed, one pre- booked dish they didn't have. The food came out somewhere between completely cold and lukewarm. Unsurprising really when we were told they were plating 45 mins before the dishes started arriving. Some of us had finished before others even had their food on every single course. Even dessert took 20 minutes to arrive after we were told they were ready and on their way. Nothing was particularly tasty either to make the wait worthwhile. Awarding 2 stars as opposed to 1 as the manager(?) didn't charge us full price as we were so unhappy with our experience.

FELT ROBBED called in at dinner me and wife having looked at the menu we both decided too have soup and a sandwich £8,95 with ham or cheese didn't fancy ither but they did have turkey so we had soup and sandwich with turkey on instead of ham or cheese but instead of being charged £8.95 x 2 = £17.90 i was charged £14.40 x 2 =£28.80 for having turkey on a breadcake instead of ham or cheese i did think being charged £10.90 MORE FOR having turkey on 2 sandwich even Dick Turpin wore a mask

I don't usually bother to write reviews, however, we went to get fish & chips, as most of the reviews were outstanding. To say I was dissapointed is an understatement. My fish(£6.50) was almost all batter. Shocking, easily the worst fish & chip meal I have ever had. Should have gone to the chippy up the road, they had a long queue.

I have lived in Derbyshire all my life and of course, this is a case of ‘what’s on your doorstep’ you hardly ever consider! My friend arranged for myself and another friend to meet up and discuss all things countryside and veer onto other topics, at a rate of 19 to the dozen - as you do when you have not met up for a while. Walking into this little place was like stepping into a storybook … it has an astonishing atmosphere - I felt I was walking into somewhere I’d been before and it was so wonderful and cozy. We ate … the food was gorgeous and I don’t know who has put four ££££ signs at the top, but I can tell you, it’s not expensive whatsoever. I had a lovely posh toastie, with goat’s cheese, sweet pepper, rocket and tomato chutney and it was delicious … certainly filled a gap (was quite tempered with pudding). What was so nice was the fact that the area we were in was really snug and you had no choice but to say ‘Hello’ to those around you … so if you’re a miserable sod, this isn’t the place for you. I blummin loved it and will definitely go again!

Pass the cafe quite often & decided to stop for breakfast today. The cafe was very cluttered & dusty. One large table adjacent to the toilet had cakes on it but 2 trays of which looked like cornflake tarts were left uncovered. Lady who took the order was wearing blue gloves & touching the till & exchanging cash & coins then handling food without changing the gloves. Dirty sauce bottle on the table. The full English breakfast was large but some of the bacon was inedible due to being overcooked. Used Plates were taken from our table while still eating & drinking without asking if we had finished. We were overcharged by a couple of pounds but, due to the place & staff being busy decided to leave without speaking to anyone ( our decision.) To the owners things like this prob get overlooked but when sitting there & waiting , looking around you notice things. Sat next to the window looking at the table outside with condiments on & the lids of the ketchup bottles were actually rusty! Cafe looks welcoming from the outside but won't be returning.

I was really hoping for the wholesome, home cooked food that the price tag promised. The bean casserole tasted like a tin of baked beans with a whole load of dried sage stirred in. The salad could have been bought in a bag at Asda. I won't be going back.
