Just got our 1st take away from here and I was so disappointed. My chicken saag was so salty it was inedible. Every dish we ordered was extremely salty and I like salt so that surprised me. Will not be ordering anything again.

Some Indian restaurants rely on a few pre prepared sauces and mundane menus somewhat indifferently cooked. Sangams deliver very high quality food, beautifully cooked in proper sauces and their delivery people are friendly and efficient. They might be a tiny bit more expensive than other places but they are, absolutely ' great value. Proper cooking.great menu. Great service.

Visited Sangams whilst on a trip to the Peak District. We dined with them during eat out to help out.The food we had was some of the best tasting Indian food we had ever tried. We shared the mixed starter which was huge and tasted amazing. The pickle tray we had with the popadoms had all home made dips unlinke most other indians.I had the Chicken Dopiaza which was beautiful, i usually avoid chicken at indians as it tends to be dry but this was spot on, nice big chunks and very tender. My girlfriend had the Lamb Bhuna which she said was also really good. Finally the naan breads.. what can i say they where amazing! They where different to any naan ive tried but the best ive ever had, they where like pizzas topped with keema and cheese, spot on!Will be calling again next time we are in the area.

The food here is excellent however, the restaurant leaves much to be desired. The staff seem to be very young and inexperienced in delivering any kind of customer service and the place it’s self is run down. Take away is the best option from here. The naan breads are served on greasy straw place matts that really did leave us wondering how/if these are ever washed... For food hygiene something that is visibly clean and washable is more appealing A little less oil in the dishes would be better too. Some come swimming in it

The atmosphere of this restaurant is like a cosy cottage, maybe a bit old fashioned for some peoples tastes. We were seated at a cosy booth in a little side room with its own 'mood' lighting. The menu is extensive with dishes we hadn't heard of before but were keen to try. The platter starter was very generous and was enough for 2 people, even though we had also ordered a stuffed pepper but it was all absolutely delicious. Mains were equally tasty and we were pleased to be able to take away what we didn't manage to eat to have for lunch the next day. The fact that the place was full on a cold, rainy Saturday in January speaks for itself.

I've dined here regularly over the years, in fact almost each visit to Hathersage has me heading down to get a 'Sangams'. It has been here a long time, over 20 years, and locals tend to go here rather than the other place in town. The food tastes fresh and the quality is consistently good. I usually have the following:Onion Bhaji, Village Special with Chicken, Plain Naan and Pilau Rice. Maybe a couple of poppadoms to start with and a beer or two to wash it down.

I simply could not recommend this restaurant enough! Me and my partner ate here on a Saturday night. We only booked an hour in advance, the table was situated in a lovely little alcove, the staff were extremely attentive from the moment we stepped in the door. The food was absolutely amazing. We had a starter, which came on a sizzling plate, was presented beautifully and was boiling hot. We then had a curry each - I had a minced lamb curry. It is easily the best curry I have ever had!! Thank you very much to the staff!

Visited Sangam’s with friends. The meal was fairly average. Two people in the party ordered Farmer’s Blonde ale and were given lager. Waiter insisted it was Farmer’s - and these two fellas are real ale addicts. The waiting staff spoke to a younger waiter (who was about 18) in quite a nasty way which we found uncomfortable. My partner loves spicy food he always has the chicken rizala. I have tried the vegetarian saag, aloo gobi, vegetarian rogan josh and the vegetarian rizala and garlic naan. The vegetarian rogan josh is now my favourite along with the garlic naan. I find that as the rizala is quite spicy I can only handle the small portion. Booked a 6:30pm table for 9 people, on 28 Dec. Another large group was already seated, when we arrived but they hadn't got their food yet. We ordered drinks and we're offered popadoms and pickles but no one then came to take our food order for some time and we then had a long wait for food to arrive. We had a couple of children in our group who were very hungry by the time food arrived and we got through two rounds of drinks whilst waiting. When the food arrived, we ate tandoori mixed platter, chicken biryani and a jalfrezi with roti, and really enjoyed the food. Two others in our party who had chicken tikka masala but found it too creamy. Apparently the restaurant was short staffed. It was a busy night but we only booked an hour before and takeaway orders were being collected throughout the evening. It seems the restaurant didn't want to turn people away but service suffered. My family and I have always been highly impressed with Sangams and enjoy their tasty food and good service. However, I was very disappointed with tonight's takeaway order. The mixed grill was fine but the Rogan Josh was swimming in oil (completely ruining the sauce) and very bland/flavourless. In the end we did not eat this dish, which was a shame as we were left hungry. I will definitely eat in Sangams again and recommend to friends but just a thought for the restaurant to be aware of the quality of food they are serving, even on a busy Friday night, nobody wants a dish full of oil!

The food is really good, it's the best curry I have every year. It's fresh really tasty and well prepared, I can't fault it. The only criticism is the beer is not great and mainly bottled. The only problem I find is after a visit there I never sleep, it's not due to tummy troubles or over eating, it's just something about the spices. I wake up after an hours sleep, wide awake and alert and never get back to sleep. It only seems to affect me out of our group. I really love the food here and the lack of kip is my problem.

My Indian cousin told me off once after I took him to Sangams. He was upset I hadn't taken him there sooner. He said that the food was almost as good as his mother's cooking back in Goa. Once he flew up from Southampton to Manchester just to eat there with me. Praise indeed. The staff are friendly and the decor is what you would like to see in a small Indian restaurant. Well worth a visit for a meal sitting down...and having had dozens of takeaways from there for friends and clients and myself over the years, we can recommend their food to go. The restaurant is popular with locals living in and around Hathersage and with many visitors coming to the village on holiday. Over the years my own business nearby has welcomed lots of stag groupos coming here for climbing, abseiling, caving, etc with my team of qualified outdoor pursuits instructors. Not once has any one of those groups using Sangams after a long day of activities ever made any negative comments. Maybe they have always been hungry after a tough day out on the hills or down a cave - but I feel it is possibly because the service is good, the food is great and the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Situated in the main street close to the fuel filling station in the centre of Hathersage, this little restaurant is worth a try.

This place obviously has a great reputation and a lot of regular customers based on the reviews which I can believe. The only criticism is that we both found that are vegetarian mains were not up to standard and were made with frozen vegetables. Maybe you could put as much effort with the veggie meals as the meat dishes on offer and using fresh vegetables would be a great improvement. I took my wife and daughter to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what an excellent meal and great night we had. I would always recommend booking as Sangams is a very popular curry house. The welcome is always friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and the food is really tasty and authentic. i always have the mixed kebab starter, it's more of a sharing starter for 2, but if you have an healthy appetite and pace yourself, it's worth indulging on your own. My wife had onion bhaji, they're very tasty. I had the mixed balti, it's packed with succulent meat and prawns and full of flavour, my wife had chicken korma and my daughter had chicken tikka masala, which I tried and was impressed with. The garlic naan is tasty, one between two is enough, especially if you have rice as well. We were stuffed after our meal and couldn't manage a pud, although my 11 year old daughter was served a free ice cream which was much appreciated. The staff are very attentive, are keen to offer their advice on which curries may suit ŷour tastebuds and they're a friendly bunch, there to welcome you in and to thank you on your way out. I can't fault this place other than it being nearly an hours drive to get there, but the journey is well worth it. Great restaurant, excellent food, great staff and can't wait for another excuse to go again.

I had the Veggie "village special" and so was expecting some "special", especially as in was £10+ compared with much cheaper traditional mains. But it wasn't! frozen vegetables (ironic because the outside is used as a green grocers during the day) in a dull/basic brown salty sauce. Tarja dal was fine, as was nan.

The best onion bahgi's ever. Seriously Mrs A and I love a curry and the starters in this restaurant were the best ever and wewould go back just for them! However a tip andthis is from a regular crry eater. It appeared to us Southerners that the taste buds of the locals were not used to too much spice, so if you go there and I do recommend you do, ask the waiter what strength you want the curry to be.We did not and we both agreed that the main courses were very mild, still tasty but.... Anyway please go, very friendly staff attentive without being pushy. Mrs A said that I should mention how clean the loos were, so I have!

Visiting area on holiday and fancied eating out for a change. Found this place through Trip Advisor and it was very close so thought we'd give it a try.Staff were excellent, friendly and attentive throughout. Ordered 1x mixed starter which arrived and was more than enough to feed both of us and was delicious. Both Lamb and Chicken in our mains were very tender with a delicate flavour (some might say a bit bland). Quantities were plentiful and we did not leave hungry!Overall a lovely meal, if you want it hot and spicy, I'd recommend you ask for this but other than that I'd thouroughly recommend this restaurant. The stats: Starter, Mains, Sides for 2 plus pint and half of beer = £37 = good value.

Found this restaurant by chance many years ago, loved it then and have always wanted to return. It's as good as I remember, the food is sublime with the theme being refined indian food, almost indian-british fusion you could say. The only sterotypical meal to be found on the menu pretty much is their version of a butter chicken which is simply the best ive ever had anywhere. The service is very attentive, the atmosphere doesn't feel too busy. it's a great place to take your parents or your other half, i'd definitely come here again

I must have been passed 100's of times but never thought of going for a curry in Hathersage, a shame I haven't because it's a little gem well worth the visit. Great service and lovely food. In fact as good a curry as I have experienced! The lamb village special was delicious along with everything else.

We ordered a chicken dish which I always eat from our local Indian. Unfortunately the food we unwrapped from sanghams was cold and looked like lumps of chicken with just cream poured over it. The rice resembled uncle bens rice. Neither the rice nor chicken dish had the slightest hint of any spices. My husbands steak resembled old boot leather and everything was put into the kitchen bin. Wouldn't rate this place at all.

Everything from the service, the environment and the food was amazing. I'm a vegan and these guys gave detailed advice, tailored a full meal to my needs and provided a top quality meal which was absolutely delicious. Not only all that but the price was extremely reasonable. 5 star all the way, highly recommended

Just had the best marinated 24hr leg of lamb once again. Supreme quality meat and freshness yet to be rivaled. No bad stomach, just amazing taste and texture. The finest Indian cuisine restaurant in Derbyshire bar none. ….it’s why we return every weekend for our favorite meal. Try it, 100% recommended plus very friendly polite service.

We returned to Sangams for our Valentine's day meal and had another fantastic evening. We were looked after exceptionally well by all of the staff, each ensuring that all elements of our meal were to our liking. We have eaten in a lot of curry houses and Sangams provides a high quality, tasty, authentic meal, supplemented by excellent service and a warm atmosphere. Each dish can be flavoured to your personal taste; we shared the mixed kebab starter (particularly enjoyed the shish kebab and succulent chicken tikka), I had King Prawn Rezala and my husband the King Prawn Vindaloo. Thanks again, we'll be back.Nicole and Sean Hutchinson

We placed a large order for collection, as we were ordering for 15 people we rang a few hours in advance to give them time to prepare the order. We collected the order and brought it back, However when it came to sorting through the dishes it was impossible to determine what each dish was as they were not labelled! A little bit of common sense would have been helpful, especially as we ordered any different dishes! The food was not of a very good standard and was not hot! We have all woken up this morning and have had upset stomachs and sickness. Would not recommend this place unfortunately......

Called in last Saturday and asked if they were dog friendly as we had our dog with us,they said they were so we got a table just for coffee and Cake.Ginger Mocha, Americano and a Almond crossaint. Everything was lovely, staff were very friendly. We even went back again for lunch.Chicken curry and rice plus a spicy chicken panine with salad and more coffee. Even though they were busy we were served very quickly and everything was again lovely. Well worth a visit if your in Bakewell and we will definitely be going back again.
