We had breakfast here twice over a 3 night stay in the village. Staff were all very welcoming and all gave the impression they enjoyed working there which was really nice to see. We had the cooked breakfast which was perfectly cooked, presented nicely, tasted fabulous and lasted us all day whilst out walking. Highly recommend. If visiting Hartington, get here for 9am and start the day with breakfast here, you won’t regret it!

Afternoon tea wow. Three well filled sandwiches each, ham and mustard, cheese and pickle and egg, crisps, salad, coleslaw. Big fat slice of St Clements cake, scone, jam and clotted cream, shortbread caramel covered in chocolate and enough tea to sink a ship. Bargain at £16.95 a head. Would definitely go again. You won't need an evening meal 😁

wanted some dinner after a long walk with the dog. was upset at first to see a 'no dogs' sign on the window but then a smaller sign saying ask about our dog friendly table. so I asked and it was available. this is a good compromise as I assume it gets busy in summer. we had a lovely dinner, soup, panini, sandwich and the service and quality was that good we had cake and coffee too. what stood out was the friendly staff and nice atmosphere of the place, a real credit to the staff

Went for breakfast after a recommendation from a friend. Service was quick and staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Everything was cooked really well and the produce was all to a very high standard, quality thick bacon and good sausages. Hartington Farm Shop & Cafe made sandwich platters for my wedding buffet. They were friendly and flexible (providing a vegan option) and the sandwiches and wraps they made were delicious. Great place to eat with amazing sandwiches I had the bacon, brie and cranberry toastie which was amazing and my boyfriend had the sausage sandwich special which he also loved. We also purchased so items from the shop, with some gins, ciders, biscuits and other gifts available. What is great about this place is it is close to the Beresford Dale trail which starts from here and goes all the way along this beautiful countryside with some fantastic views and wildlife. Access to the trail starts just right of the building up the steps and through the gate near the toilets were you walk along the fields till you get to the woodlands. I often visit Hartington, either for walking or to meet Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants on their expeditions as was the case a few weeks ago when I called in to this shop and cafe. On that occasion I only had time for a quick coffee, but even that short visit made a good impression on me. It's spacious inside and comfortably rustic. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the coffee was good. Today (Bank holiday Saturday, 26th August) it was very busy but the service was speedy, friendly and efficient again. I didn't have much more time on this occasion either, but my scone and cappuccino were good and my friend was equally happy with his Americano and Chocolate flapjack. The prices seemed reasonable too. I'll definitely return, hopefully when I'll have time to enjoy a full meal there rather than just a hasty snack. The menu looked inviting.

Surprised & disappointed with a very poor lunch. Drinks great, we both had coffee which was excellent. My wife had a sausage/egg bap, nice sausages, fried egg was solid + poor quality white bread roll. She ate the sausages, some of the egg, left the bread. I had bacon & cheese quiche. Was small with soft pastry, the filling about 1cm deep with a few bits of bacon & no cheese that you'd notice. Served with coleslaw which was warm + very sweet along with some awful ready salted crisps. I love quiche + coleslaw but didn't eat it. The side salad on the plate was nice though, tasty dressing. Won't be going back!

Farm shop and cafe? Possibly the most underwhelming farm shop I have been to, don’t expect to be able to stock up for a couple of tasty meals! It appears the shop is an afterthought to a below average cafe. The worst coffee I have had in many a year, too much milk and not enough coffee. Sandwiches OK but not great. We normally go to the Beresford Tea Rooms when we are visiting Hartington, but saw the sign for this new place and decided to give it a go. It is nice enough inside, a large open spaced cafe tastefully decorated. The staff were lovely and the place was neat and clean...so far so good. The menu is reasonable but a tad overpriced...I went for the Derbyshire oatcakes which includes two fillings...should you want more fillings then it is 80p extra (for a few beans or a few mushrooms??? I don't think so...the oatcakes would have been £10 if I had had the works...round the corner at the Beresford you get the full works for just over a fiver). They were nice enough but wasn't very impressed with the sausage sadly. Coffee was nice though......but the one thing that got me is that they have locks on the plugs so that you can't charge your phone/etc...I should have thought at their prices they could afford a little bit of free electric to charge a phone.I know this place is knew and obviously has teething problems and is a learning curve, and I hope it does well. But for us, we won't be returning here and it will be back to the Beresford Tea Rooms.

‘Came here with 19 of our Derbyshire road cycling group. So we know what passes as a decent half-way refreshment venue. And Hartington Farm Shop And Cafe comfortably qualifies. Good space outside to park bikes without obstructing other customers. Good outside and inside table facilities. Clean toilets. Decently priced hot and cold food/cakes with generous portion sizes. Table layout is also spacious with no clutter or cramped access. A quaint and laid back atmosphere despite being quite a deceptively large layout (shop incorporated). Staff always accommodating and efficient despite the sudden rush of two wheel transport arriving without warning. Manageress personally enquiring we were happy with the service as we left. Of course!. Verdict: ‘Hartily’ Recommended.

Hartington Farm Shop and Cafe hosted our wedding party at the end of June. It was a pleasure dealing with the owners of this family run business from start to finish. Joanne and her team couldn't have been more helpful, patient and accommodating. Hartington has a special place in our hearts and our friends who came from far and wide raved about the beautiful and idyllic location of this fantastic cafe and farm shop! Our party happened to be on the hottest day of the year and so a welcome drink of Pimm's and lemonade couldn't have been more welcome! The service was seamless, the high tea was all freshley baked and prepared and the atmosphere relaxed. We had some excellent prosecco for toasting with & Joanne had especially sourced some local ales on request. The team were true pros!We love this place so much that the next morning we came back for a fantastic latte and Cadbury's Creme egg fudge (!), followed by looking at all the beautiful things to buy paticularly by the talented Alex Clark! We then came back for lunch as we couldn't resist the amazing warm & delicious homity pie (a local speciality) and finally had to come back again before going home as their local ice creams are amazing and like no other!Hartington Farm Shop and Cafe is a rustic and charming venue, in a stunning location. Joanne and her team couldn't have been more kind, helpful, dedicated & patient and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for hosting a celebration! I hope this local business continues to go from strength to strength!

This is very unpretentious farm shop and cafe. We stopped for late light lunch. Toastie and Oatcake came with salad and coleslaw - lunch for two - really nicely done. Total damage £10!Staff were excellent, very positive and helpful - bit of a breath of fresh air really. We hope they go from strength to strength.

I dropped across this tea room when searching for somewhere to have afternoon tea with my elderly mother. What a find! Mum was unable to walk inside and wanted to stay in the car. When explained to the enthusiastic team inside, they took the order, delivered it on a tray to the car and then produced a table and chair to complete the perfect car park picnic. That put a very big smile on Mum’s face. The food and drinks are great too. OK, we only tried the scones, but they were so delicious we took extras home with us. Decaf coffee is no problem, decaf tea availability often is, but not here. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks and a big well done, you’ve been added to our favourite tea shop list. We will be back to try more of your menu.

Staff very friendly and very quick service. Food/drinks perhaps a little over expensive but on balance probably worth it. There is a nice walk which starts behind the building.

We had a two day break in Hartington and sampled both the ice cream and freshly ground coffee. Bit of a coffee snob I’d declined the filter coffee on offer with brekkie at our hotel in favour of a flat white at the farm shop, wasn’t disappointedIt looked great in there, great service and if we’d stayed longer we would’ve tried something from their menu. Hope to get back soon !!

We telephoned to book and then via email pre ordered our food the day before. Just incase the cafe was busy on arrival. The staff were very helpful it was a very nice village cafe. Lots of seating and a good choice of food on offer. The food arrived swiftly and a most enjoyable breakfast too.The farm shop was an added bonus with local produce and crafts. Thank you .

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

We only live about 20 minutes and driven passed many times. We stopped on the way back from Buxton. They weren’t officially open however they were more than happy to serve us. It was awful weather outside but they had the log burner going so was gorgeous and warm. Cafe was all clean. Food delicious. Cakes scrumptious. The staff are so friendly. Car park is close and large. Definitely will be going again.
