Although the service and atmosphere were OK, we go to a pub at lunchtime for a meal and were absolutely shocked when our meals arrived! My husband just burst out laughing and the poor waiter looked totally embarrassed, and with very good reason - I present to you a Caesar Salad that we paid £10 each for!! As you can see from the photo, the salad contained just 2 measly slices of chicken, half a boiled egg, 2 quarters of the smallest lettuce I’ve ever seen and 2 pieces of dry toasted bread topped off with a couple of anchovies and dressing. My biggest complaint is that the salad was totally lost on the plate but that was the meal!! Absolutely shocking and we certainly won’t be returning here!

We arrived to a very busy pub being Easter Sunday however we’re soon greeted and shown to our table. The staff were friendly and very prompt considering how busy they all were but did not make us feel in a rush to choose our meals. The food came promptly and was very nice, price wise, considering this is an independent business and the quality of the ingredients was good it was great value. Overall an excellent experience, we will certainly visit again when we are in the area and will recommend to our friends.

visited again after a year, the menu was still limited. the portions of meals were rather small but the taste was good. if you are hungry, one meal may not enough to fullfill your stomach. we ordered chicken pie, slow cooked belly pork and grilled salmon. they all were in good taste. arrived 1:45pm on thursday, the place was almost empty. the free wifi did not work. staff were friendly. the lunch menu was limited. the fish was rather small in fish and chips. beef burger was juicy. the red velvet cake, £3.50, was ok.

Good beer, friendly and helpful staff. Nice location in a good walking area. We sat outside in a minor heatwave - still had a bit of windchill but that was our choice! Food quality was very good but portion size smaller than I would have expected and quite pricey. We thought the best item on the menu was the steak sandwich with chips and gravy - but at £14 perhaps not the best value.

Well, what can I say, came for burgers and the menu doesn't run on a Sunday. Quite clearly says here it's a burgers and sundaes joint... Settled on £12 roast meat cobs, with £5 fries and a side of cauli cheese, all from the garden menu...so disappointed. The fries portions were tiny...poor value and quality. Cobs were advertised with gravy, which didn't initially accompany and was told they didn't come with gravy...erm, it's on the menu. Gravy then followed. If it had value for money, I'd have no issue but they have you over a barrel here - do not recommend at all. Fork for scale...

Called here for a drink after a 10 mile hike. Great selection of hand pumped beers as well as usual lager and cider. The outside space was OK but overlooked the car park. Not the cheapest place to have a drink. The themed aprons the staff were wearing suggested it aspires to be a destination venue.

Went for lunch on a busy Saturday. I went to the bar to tell them we had arrived I was shown to our table which was right by the walkway with not much room between the table and other customers walking and I had to get up to allow a pram through. The ambience of the pub is amazing though .the young lady who looked after us was a credit to the pub! We ordered 2 burgers which were bland to be honest. We asked for tomato ketchup and were given a sachet. Now whilst I’m no snob I do understand sachets outside but in a restaurant???? I would have liked to have another pint but the poor server was just too busy! Would I go back???? No This pub is a lovely pub but just not great food and maybe need a little more staff at busier periods

Tourist trap. I’ll start by saying that the fantastic young serving staff here deserve 5 stars each here as they are organised, attentive, polite and friendly. The local lager was delicious! However, the food portions are very small for a very high price: I went away hungry after having a roast beef sandwich consisting of 1.5 slices of beef between unimpressive bread, a dozen chips, some horseradish and a small jug of gravy for £12. (I can get a full Sunday roast dinner in an independent Yorkshire pub for £12-15) I’m well aware that running a pub is costing more and more as each year passes, but to put such a price on such a small amount of food is not right. Either put the price up higher and feed people properly, or don’t bother at all. This pub is not alone in shrinking portions and charging more. Landlords beware: people will eventually vote with their feet if it continues. The atmosphere here was ruined by a group of selfish people who insisted on adding a stool to a tiny table and practically blocking the passing area for guests and staff near the bar with their dogs, one of which was aggressive and noisy. This could have been sorted by the manager telling them not to block the area.

Lots of dogs, food is nice, & nice staff. Don’t like the way I pay, no invoice for what I’ve ordered! And a payment machine with tips included, and asked if he could include tips! Lovely pub and friendly staff. Called in for lunch whilst walking in the area. The lunch was expensive for what we got. We really didn't like the deconstructed chicken cesaer salad. When you order a £9 salad you don't expect Ikea build it yourself. Beef sandwich was really really good but again over priced for what it was. We were going to order deserts but feared we might get built it yourself.

What a great find! We called ahead to book as our daughter is a coeliac so needed to check the gluten free choices for Sunday lunch. They were incredibly helpful and assured us that they were aware of allergies and could cater for her. We arrived on a cold February day after a long walk to be greeted by an exceptionally warm welcome. The Sunday roast was amazing, the roast beef literally melted in your mouth, we have never tasted such fantastic roast beef. The veg was fresh and in abundance. Gluten Free options for everything including the Yorkshire pudding and the delicious gravy. The service was impeccable from the whole team. I was really hoping for the wholesome, home cooked food that the price tag promised. The bean casserole tasted like a tin of baked beans with a whole load of dried sage stirred in. The salad could have been bought in a bag at Asda. I won't be going back.

The bird café was very cute! We sat in the window and they had stuck feeders onto them so all the birds landed right at our table. There were several bird books on our table to help identify them. The food was very nice, we had sausage sandwiches. The atmosphere was amazing and we really liked the little farm shop and garden centre.

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

What a lovely quirky bar. Dropped in for a quick drink on the way to our hotel. Can't wait to come back this evening.
