Found this place on the off chance on a wet miserable Monday afternoon/evening as we were in Matlock for a few days. Place was not busy but the decor looked good and music was decent, so decided to have a drink. Was served by the lovely Jules behind the bar who made us feel so welcome, that we went back every evening for the rest of our stay! Plus her friend meg! 😊

Great cocktail bar in Matlock. We didn't have much time to stay but we certainly enjoyed our cocktails (2 for £12) We enjoyed sitting outside watching the world go by on a Saturday afternoon. Would recommend. Cool place!

Just needed a drink and couldn't find anywhere saw this place and had a drink. Couldn't leave quick enough. Needs a good clean would definitely not go again

i absolutely loved my time here at the tipsy toad but one the downer my accomplice tommy smith decided to urinate on me whilst he was laughing and i was in tears but samuel smith decided to save me whilst hanging dawn and started shouting racial slurs at me before he decided to whip his chopper out and join in on the pissing pals

I had high expectations from the look of the outside. Charming little place. If your unlucky to sit next to the speaks well they're very loud. However if your deaf then possibly perfect.

Wouldn't let my mate buy a drink because they thought his ID was fake. It wasn't at all. Was also a pain getting a drink elsewhere as they radio'd other places but we did eventually get served and paid over £100 in drinks as a group so you lost out :)

Probably the best bar we went in during our day trip to Matlock. The staff were friendly and service was quick being as it was really busy for a Saturday lunchtime. Good beer. Would visit again.

This pub does not serve food. The atmosphere and service is fantastic.

A fantastic bar run by a brilliant team. A cool interior with lots of neon, great for watching sports. The big plus is the incredible cocktail menu, amazing value and expertly crafted. I recommend the Gentleman which was just what you want from a cocktail, great tasting with a punch. Big shout out to Ben and the team who looked after our phone after we accidentally left it behind (strong cocktails!). A unique place and well worth a visit.

Went in. Girl behind the bar was on her phone with her back to us, and several customers sat at the bar so we couldn't get to it anyway. After standing there a while one of the men sat at the bar, who had already glanced at us when we walked in, got up and went behind the bar and served us. The owner i now think. The girl never flinched as he walked past her. It was very odd. We sat on a sticky table that looked like it used to be a used cooking fat container. Screens everywhere with football on every one. Children in watching it with their parents and a group of young adults carving a huge pile of pumpkins 🎃 with the innards going all over the floor. In fact we had to step over the sweeping brush with was laying on the floor waiting to trip someone up. Strange place. Never again.

6 of us went in for drinks. Rugby was on so it was very noisy and we went outside to drink our drinks. Beer was good but cocktails (mojitos) were dreadful and all got left aa they were undrinkable! Toilets were simply filthy and stunk of urine which wasn't pleasant. Staff were fine, no problems there.

We always call in when we are nearby. Great selection of drinks and the venue is very unique. Worth a visit!!

Very lively on a Saturday afternoon, we were able to find seating outside. If anything I found the toilets to be a little too dark.

One of the best cocktails bars I've ever been to. Such a beautiful vibe inside, sweetest staff inside, music was outstanding and positively added to the atmosphere, drinks weren't badly priced at all and if you get the opportunity then please visit!!

Staff is friendly, but the tables are very sticky. Even the bag of crisps we ordered was sticky. People vaping inside, which is not ideal.

The Tipsy Toad really is a little gem of a place with friendly staff, A HUGE variety of drinks, lovely atmosphere and welcoming locals. My husband and I were in the area for a family wedding and had driven past The Tipsy Toad a few times so decided to pay a visit on Sunday, not disappointed, can highly recommend if you fancy a cheeky drink

No1 venue for skysports footy in Matlock! Staff super helpful and friendly too.

Popped in for a beer and then returned for a cocktail after dinner , was made to feel completely at home by all the staff and would happily have stayed all night , gem of a bar, thank you .

Went to Matlock for the day with my friend and we are avid Forest fans. Came here for the game. Barmaid took my provisional license and said it was fake, and that she isn’t accepting it. I am 22 years old very strange behaviour, clearly doesn’t like business.

Absolute shambles! After waiting 10 minutes at the bar, one of the bartenders finally acknowledged my existence as my skin began to rot like those disgraceful, senile old men, who were shouting and swearing all night long! The food came after a fairly long wait… Oh, I was not impressed whatsoever! The waiter simply slammed all the plates on our table, without even a politely ‘enjoy your meals’. Overcooked food as well. Lots of tables filthy, seems like the staff only care about having a chat on shift! I simply will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend this to anybody looking for a nice meal and drinks!

Went there for a family meal too celebrate my sisters birthday. When I got served the food I found a dead fly in there which really put me off my meal, the staff were rude and because my sister is autistic she got treated differently too everyone else there. Too top the night as well, I saw a rat leave the kitchen thought I was seeing things but my cousin saw it too. EHO please check it out, won’t be coming again

A pop up bar that's in a lovely location but attracts a young crowd.

Bouncer isn't nice. ID pass cards are legal ID and usually is fine when my sister gets asked for ID at the bar. but the bouncer told her to leave as it wasn't acceptable even tho coming is a regular thing for her and the bar staff allow it as they SCAN it. Told the bouncer that you scan the bar code to see if it's real and he went on to say it wasn't his job to check it and had a really bad attitude with her talking down to her he raised his voice and said that's not acceptable but said he will let her off that time? Doesn't that defeat the whole point he was trying to make?. Shes been trying to get a provisional and had stuggle with it as it's a long process. So a pass card is all she has which is legal ID and can easily be told the difference from a fake one and a real one.

Quite pricey and smells of damp, possibly due to the floods in 2019.

Lively, eclectic sports bar located on the main road just outside town. Convenient for McDonald's and the Premier Inn I was stopping at. An enormous barman and tiny barmaid on duty when I visited on Wednesday evening. All fine.

Stopped in to watch the Lions rugby game. Nice draft beer and plenty of TV screens to watch the action

Great value cocktails! Busy and therefore good atmosphere. Only downside inside lots of TV screens (but it is a sports bar so expected) and outside you’re on a fairly busy road but still great cocktails at a great price and staff friendly and helpful

Accidentally visited during a football match. Not normally my cup of tea and planned to leave after one drink. However, the service and atmosphere was fantastic so we stayed for the evening. Despite it drawing in a rowdy football crowd, the social distancing was kept to which was appreciated.Lovely outside area, great as a smoker. The price of the cocktails and other drinks was very reasonable and the cocktails were delicious.Would definitely recommend, especially for the salted caramel espresso martini!

Absolutely fantastic bar! The staff are friendly and the drinks selection is fantastic. Very stylish pub set in a very convenient place! One of the few pubs worth going to in the area. If you're around Matlock going here is a must
