We only live about 20 minutes and driven passed many times. We stopped on the way back from Buxton. They weren’t officially open however they were more than happy to serve us. It was awful weather outside but they had the log burner going so was gorgeous and warm. Cafe was all clean. Food delicious. Cakes scrumptious. The staff are so friendly. Car park is close and large. Definitely will be going again.

After a 6 mile hike it started to rain heavily so we decided to head for homesford tea rooms as we had never been before and thought we would try it for a pitstop between showers. What an absolutely amazing place. It was so homely and truly felt like stepping back in time to my dear old grandma’s kitchen. What a lovely old fashioned welcome we had with vintage music playing, even our soggy doggies were treated to biscuits and fuss too. The freshly baked cakes and crumbles just kept on being produced by the young, friendly staff. They were brought out and left to cool temptingly on a nearby table and our cream tea for two was exceptional. Freshly baked fruit scones served on a platter with plentiful jam, cream and fresh strawberries - an absolute delight. The teapot test was well and truly passed. (My partner can’t bear an under filled pot - this was filled to the brim - and to his delight there were two teabags) Cant wait to return when we are walking again that way, this place is more than just special. I cant count the amount of times I’ve driven past here. In the future I know it’s going to be very hard to pass by!! If you’ve never tried it - You will not be disappointed. In our top 3 favourites in the area, but I already know it will hit the top spot for certain after a few more visits. The food from other orders looked fabulous and all the tables were full and people still sitting outside even in the rain (with table umbrellas for shelter). There’s plenty of parking so you can fit in a walk along the beautiful cromford canal with your visit. Lots of tasty home baked treats to take away for a picnic too. The lady who runs the place was one of a kind and made everyone feel so welcome. It’s the sort of place I’d love to have taken my mum if she were still around, but I know I’d have had trouble dragging her away too. You felt like you could swap recipes and get your knitting out while being transported back in time. I could have stayed all day but we had a 6 mile walk home ahead of us. This place sent us on our way very happily with a certain promise to return. I’ve been telling everyone about it since our visit and can’t recommend it enough. Thanks again to everyone at the homesford tea rooms. You’ve really got it absolutely spot on and long may it continue.

Homesford Cottage Tearoom is on the A6 about three miles from Cromford, in Derbyshire, where I have lived for over twenty years. It’s a lovely homely and rather quirky (in a very nice way) cafe. When I called in a few weeks ago the 60s songs that were playing matched well with the photos and bric-a-brac around the room. I say “room”, but “barn” would be a better description. Don’t get me wrong: it’s clean, it’s comfortable, it’s rustic. And the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The food is good and reasonably priced. My “cafe quality benchmark” - the scones – certainly impressed. On a warm day the outside seating is good, there’s plenty of parking and although it’s on a busy road it has never seemed over noisy. In fact its position is another asset. If you’re on your way into the Derbyshire Dales/Peak District for the day or you’re a biker on the Matlock Bath Sunday pilgrimage stop off here first before the crowds. It’s on the right about a mile after the zig-zag crossing of the River Derwent near Whatstandwell.

Even though this place is on our doorstep I've never visited before recently, possibly because it is located on A6. I have now been twice in two days. Well placed for a walk up onto Cromford Moor. Lots of lovely homemade cakes, simple but well done snack menu. I had the ginger and lime cheesecake, the parsnip soup was lovely and the children loved their hot chocolates and bacon butties. Good quality coffee too. Very friendly staff and a roaring fire. Will definitely make this a regular thing.

The Homesford Tearooms were a welcome stop on a dreary autumn afternoon after a stroll along the scenic Cromford Canal. Obviously popular - we had to wait for a table in the characterful ex-stables as it wasn't nice enough to eat outside - and deservedly so. Friendly, hard-working staff, big stove at one end of the room, kitchen at the other end where all the home baking is done. Great cake (coffee and walnut, a generous slice) and well seasoned warm sausage roll with plenty of filling and lovely flaky pastry. Yorkshire tea for two, served in up a vintage 1960s Denby pot with matching cups. Just £7.95 for the lot - a real bargain and better value than the larger Family Tree cafe just down the road. Tweak the decor a little and do some de-cluttering (what is that rail of old clothes all about?) and it would easily merit five stars. But a very pleasant stop-off all the same.

Lovely homemade food soup for a cold day too and dog friendly we brought all our dogs here and they were catered for just as good as their human counterparts a lovely waitress fought water and chews out a lovely touch, the cheese scones were to die for and the coffee and tea we both loved we'd had a long walk and it was welcome before the walk back up steep pasture incline across to Middleton cutting across the bottom of Holloway first lovely place great food we loved it

They got us some water to refill my engine coolant so it could cool down and had no problems with helping us. We admired the various puddings on show but restrained ourselves! I enjoyed my hot potato with apologies for the slightly long cooking time but my wife's soup was cool. Unfortunately a previous diner had complained that it was too hot! The reduced the temperature a little too much.

Enjoy our sunday morning breakfasts here , a lovely cafe in 50s style with music from that era, exerlent food , great staff and service, our dogs are made welcome and they get treats too, It makes a refreshing change to be able to take the dogs in with us rather than having to sit outside , they love to lie beside the log burner , great place.

Bien hecho, Becky y personal!

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

This cafe once was wonderful but our visit this time was very dissapointing for us both. Food not to usual standards such a let down sadly.
