Sunday 13th October 2024 The best chippy going. The guy was really friendly and talked to us whilst making our food. It was the freshest as he had just opened and they make everything fresh and cooked fresh to order. This guy was a king!! cooked to perfection whilst delivering excellent service. Fish was crispy and the chips were delicious. Would come here again and am happy to tip. Please open another store in my area!

Fish and chips were so delicious we had them twice in the week we were there. Very friendly staff too. Would definitely go back again. Cod was succulent and very generous portion of chips. Peas and curry sauce also recommended 😋

After reading about this place, we were looking forward to trying it, but in reality, we were really underwhelmed. Aside from missing an item we'd ordered, the battered cod was drenched in grease. The food wasn't anything special, the portions were small and it was cooked with little care. We'd driven a few miles to collect the food, so weren't prepared to return and pay to park again, just to pickup a missing sausage and complain but, 1st impressions last so we won't be back next time we're in Bakewell.

10 of us had chippie dinner and it was really tasty. Friendly staff, fresh chips and fish, really good value. Def worth visiting over the other chippies down the road

The chips were bad!! So disappointed. Curry sauce and peas perfectly fine and tasty. Chips were dark, tastless and somehow over and under cooked at the same time.

Amazing chips cooked in beef dripping! Homemade mushy peas were delicious, curry sauce a solid 10/10! Served by the owner who was very welcoming and told us about how the food was sourced and cooked. Next time I visit my sisters in Manchester I’ll be making a visit to Bakewell especially for the fish n chips! Thank you 😊

Lovely people working there, went above and beyond even as they were closing and the food was bang on.

All though the place looks clean we ordered the special meal deal each for me and my partner the worse mistake we could have done. Throwing up and runs all night after this stomach was killing not long after eating left a horrible journey back home through the feeling of needing to be sick and in constant pain. Still in pain the following day and still feel unwell would not recommend this place one bit would give zero stars if I could.

Got the small deal...small fish, small chips and a sauce for £6.95 - very generous portions and fish, chips and curry sauce were all fantastic. On top of that very friendly staff

Didn't know this chip shop existed until recently. We visited on a Friday early evening and the small fish and chips were very tasty and excellent value for money. One of the best fish and chips I've eaten in along time. I've eaten at both the other two chip shops and this one beats them both hands down.

Everything appears over cooked, but by the smell of I don't think the fryers have been cleaned recently. Give it a miss.

On a 3 day break in Bakewell and went to Catch 32 for Friday Fish & Chips. Make no mistake it will be a challenge to find an outlet match this business .... outstanding

Tried Catch 32 for the first time today and wasn't disappointed. Delicious fresh fish with a crispy batter. The chips were exceptional. Great portion size and good value for money. Well worth a visit!

Original review 2020: Very good fish and chips. We’ve been every couple of weeks since visiting after lockdown and its been consistently good - crispy batter and well cooked chips. (Ordering and payment system at the door is well managed, too.) Edited Feb 2024: Still the best fish and chips in Bakewell. The customer service was lovely and friendly, the fish fresh and perfectly fried, the chips soft in middle but crispy outside. Paper cartons and wooden forks instead of the polystyrene used down the road.

Excellent quality, best for miles around. The mini fish special @ 6.95 is not that small either. Always busy but always keep you informed how long it will be.

Their fryer clearly hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Chips appear overdone yet raw in the middle, same goes for the thin sliver of fish. Definitely a tourist trap which is a huge shame.

Stopped by for small fish and chips special have to say they were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious especially the batter. We sat at the only table in the shop. Attentive owner asked if all was ok with the food and his assistant was good at giving directions to a nice Pub locally. Thanks guys 10/10. If we lived closer we’d be regulars !

Recently visited this chippy whilst staying in Bakewell. Very good food. £6.75 for the fish special is excellent value. I'm from the North East and spoilt for great fish and chip shops, so I'm abit fussy, but really enjoyed food from here. The young lady who served me was very friendly too. I'd visit again when in pretty Bakewell 😊

Visited earlier this week, the staff were okay but the food was dreadful. If I wasn’t so hungry I would’ve refused the food as I saw it being put into the boxes.. Chips landed in the tray like blocks of wood. Both the fish and chips were overcooked and dark brown like fence paint. The oil was due for change weeks ago and left a brown oily stain of a similar colour to malt vinegar on the grease proof paper. Incidentally the mushy peas were lovely. After travelling home I had to brush my teeth to get rid of the nasty taste of old fried oil. I will never go back there because it was terrible. My only wish now was that I had taken a photo to show you!

Stopped for Fish and chips after a day out in Bakewell with the family, food was hot even after 10 minute journey back to the cottage where we stayed. Food was freshly cooked, fish was soft and a decent size ( no skinny fillets thinner than the batter). Batter lovely and crisp and not at all greasy. Curry sauce was enjoyed by all as were the mushy peas. Generous portions at a decent price. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again if in the area.

Best chippy in Bakewell. The special for £6.75 is such a steal, you get fish, chips, and your choice of sauce or peas/beans. We got the curry sauce and it was out of this world, the fish was sooo crispy and the chips were great!!

Placed an order at Catch 32 at 19.20, didn’t receive our order until 20.10. On a Friday night expected it to be busy and have to wait but was given no indication how long the order would take. Discovered half of our order had been lost. When questioned what was going on after waiting for 40 minutes, older woman shouted repeatedly at us saying they can’t help being busy instead of trying to help resolve the issue. Completely agree you can’t help it being busy but give customers a heads up of the wait and no need to be shouted at.

Nice looking shop, staff friendly enough and didn’t really go for the atmosphere. Pricing was what I expected so no issues with that. Fish was cooked fresh but small, over done and quite dark, oil had fried the fish within the batter so quite dry and crispy and so no chance of white fluffy chunks and chips lacking a bit of taste. Portion was on the small side but not sure why the high rating on google. Fish wasn’t floured prior to being battered so that’s probably why it ended up dry and exposed directly to the oil/fat.

So we visited this place and we were very hungry. We are not from UK and we don't understand how it's possible to do it so bad. My advice to the owner of this place: don't be so cruel and add some salt and pepper. The food is so tasteless it' the same as eating a napkin.

Quite a disappointing experience at this shop. I was the only customer but was completely ignored by the three members of staff that were present. No explanation given. Just ignored for approx 10 minutes. I can't speak to the quality of the food because I walked out in the end.

Great quality and best fish and chips had in ages and am not a fun of that dish. Lovely soft cod and not soggy or mushed chips , cooked perfectly Is the best around ... However the service provided was poor , grampy girl answering abruptly No explanation on pricing , didn't quite get us even spoke native English lol , kept double asking over and over again. Probably not used to not local accents I get that we were first customers but a bit of politeness and enthusiasm is always appreciated 👍 Improve in that please Thanks

Don't know about other good reviews, but this is the second time we've been here, and it will be the last. The cod was cooked fresh, but still overcooked, dry and tasteless. The breadcakes the smallest I've ever seen with cheap margarine and the peas were hard. The staff were not friendly, barely looking up. Definitely won't be going back.

5.95£ for fish chips and gravy/curry sauce. The fish was very crispy, freshly fried, but it tasted like nothing. I'm not sure if it was just the fish as cod is not very flavourful, but we couldn't even taste the vinegar and salt. Portion was more than enough. Gravy/ curry sauce was very thick and nice. 8/10

Based on past reviews for this place, I decided to give them a go. Wow !! I ordered the fish and chips and mushy peas special . It was all delicious though the mushy peas were an absolutely standout for me. Terrific value at £5.95 for a delicious meal . I would most certainly recommend - they were pretty busy on the Monday night whilst I was there but the service was friendly and efficient . Try them out !!

Suuuper oily fish. I don't know if it's old oil or not hot enough but either way, I would not recommend. Chips were fine but nothing special. Had to eat something else to try and remove the excessive grease left behind.

Heard about this chippy so wife and i tried it last night WoW FANTASTIC. the best fish and chips we've had since Sheringham in Norfolk some yrs ago .We will definitely be back. We'll done Catch32.

Perfect fish & chips due to quality fresh fish & traditional cooking methods being used, which ensures the batter is cooked right through & no excess grease. Nicely flavoured chips, & peas are good too. Good customer service, very clean & very good price for such good quality! I personally can’t believe any poor reviews are from genuine customers.

Yet another fish and chip review from me. Super clean establishment and nice polite staff. We had the fish and chip special that includes mushy peas. Priced at £5.45 this has to be one of the best value takeaway fish and chips in the country. Lovely chips and a nice light crispy batter to the haddock. Will definitely use again when in the area.

Really great fish and chips. We tried haddock, scampi, potato scallop, battered sausage, chips, curry sauce and mushy pea's. All very well cooked and amazing. The curry sauce was best out of any curry sauces we have ever tasted.

Visiting from Sheffield and I have to say Catch 32 do the best fish and chips ever!! The haddock is so white and chunky, the chips and scampi also cooked to perfection! I will definitely be coming again. 😁🐟

We picked up fish & chips earlier today from Catch 32 and headed up to Monsal Head to sit and enjoy them. Really tasty, still nice and hot after a 10 minute drive, good packaging, proper forks and we had great service in the shop. Everything was cooked fresh and the whole family were happy with their food. Plus all of this at a very reasonable price too, for southerners anyway!! Highly recommended.
