Top place we went to on our trip to sheffield and around. Chose it as it was dog friendly and so so glad came here. The setting was beautiful. The music chilled and relaxing. Service was excellent- thanks Oli. And the breakfast fabulous. We had smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, the pancake stack with biscoff sauce you just want to keep eating, the fully loaded hot chocolate and great cappuccinos. And even the glass of water was served elegantly!! A must try place for breakfast before you tackle those hills!!

We booked a table in the bar for three of us and our two little dogs but due to the glorious weather we dined at table 64 in the Courtyard. We visited as the third part of our trying out the Rob at Longbow trio of offerings at the Ashford Arms, The Maynard and The George. All three offer different but extensive menus though Wine list is common to all which was a bonus as we are fans of Rob’s recommendations. My only plea is to add at least a bottled Wheat beer to the drinks range. Firstly, it was much appreciated that smoking and non smoking were kept a reasonable distance apart so that non smokers are able to avail of outdoor dining. Also, table 64 was ideal for our Dandies to shelter from the strong sun and heat. We were extremely well looked after by the staff and primarily by Alice who ensured we had a high quality experience and that all food was as it should be. She was extremely knowledgeable about what should be on each plate and quickly spotted two omissions on my Lebanese Spiced Lamb ballotine which turned out to be absolutely delicious though not sure why the half pitta is served underneath it rather than alongside. The Katsu Chicken Curry and Mushroom&Oat Burger were equally delicious. A very good range of starters from which we had Sweet and Sour Prawns, Cured Sea Trout and Korean flavoured Scotch Egg - all well presented and very tasty with the standout being the Scotch Egg. We shared the cheese and a Grapefruit Tart. I would have liked the tart to have a more grapefruit flavour but apart from that it was lovely. In our view The George was well up there with the Ashford Arms on food, service and environment and we will certainly be back to both regularly. Great vibes in the pub. Got there as they opened and the hospitality was fantastic. I ordered a coffee and they got the coffee machine up and running straight away. Service was friendly and coffee was very nice and affordable. Came with a nice biscuit as well. We just used the hotel as a pub as a meeting point to start our stag do. There was a couple ordering food which looked great also. Beer was great and there was darts and a foosball table! 10/10 establishment

Attended at Bank House today. Initially walked in to not be acknowledged at all. Had to ask a waitress where the toilet was as they would not speak to us. Then when going to order, I was stood at the bar area with my partner for approximately 10 minutes without being acknowledged again. The server behind the bar was called Tara and she was extremely rude. We then left and went to a cafe further down the hill where they had amazing service and lovely food. Definitely recommend people to go to the new cafe next door go outdoors!!

Excellent accommodation value. Good traditional breakfast and a congenial pub.

£8.40 with tea or coffee. Nice breakfast and bustling atmosphere, full of walkers 🙂 Good value for money. Left stuffed! Thank you 😊

Absolutely delicious. Huge portions (maybe too huge) but all 4 of us were delighted with our food. Surroundings are nice too. Thoroughly recommend

What a great little cafe. Didn’t look much from the outside, in fact I didn’t realise there was a cafe above the shop. Had a Sausage & Bacon roll, wasn’t expecting much but when it arrived it had a very generous portion of sausage & bacon, just what was needed after a long morning walk. My friend had the Scrambled Egg, Avocado & Salmon on toast which also looked amazing. Friendly staff. I would visit again if in the area

Me and my sons went for fish and chips very friendly staff the food was excellent 👌 will definitely be going back the fish was very fresh and the batter was very crispy 👌

Wonderful stay (again). Great atmosphere and great food at very reasonable prices. Special mention for the lovely ladies who work so very hard in the bar and restaurant - always smiling, cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. Sadly, same can't be said about the landlord.

Lovely place. People pleasant enough. Ordered some food. Should have taken 20 mins tops. Over an hour later still not had food. It was just a steak sandwich, which it said came with onion chutney. Crispy piece of steak with a few fried onions. Cold chips and onion rings that were sitting in oil. A couple that came in about 45 mins after us received there food first, and that was 2 curry dishes. Was told the steak took longer than the curry????

We have just returned from a 2 day night stay, and unfortunately we were quite disappointed, and we wouldn't recommend. Firstly when we booked, we specifically rang and asked if we could have the 1 four poster room. Were advised that was fine. We arrived to check in, the pub was chaos. Very, very busy, with no real attention. We were allocated our room, and told "sorry we can't give you the four poster room, because we have given it to someone else!!". Instead allocated Room 4, which essentially is the spare room above the garage! Really disappointed by this. We had an evening meal at the hotel on the Sunday. Service was poor, no wine list and cost was £107. We paid for this on the night. Breakfast very hit and miss.. 1st day was good, 2nd day numerous items missing. No juices, fruit or anything. On check out, we were told there was a bill of £107!! I have to prove through a receipt this was paid! Fortunately I had it. In summary this is a 5 bedroom pub with rooms. It's dated, lacks attention and rooms really differ. I don't believe we were treated very fairly, to be promised one thing, given another, nearly charged twice and poor service. We expected more but left really disappointed.
