Attended at Bank House today. Initially walked in to not be acknowledged at all. Had to ask a waitress where the toilet was as they would not speak to us. Then when going to order, I was stood at the bar area with my partner for approximately 10 minutes without being acknowledged again. The server behind the bar was called Tara and she was extremely rude. We then left and went to a cafe further down the hill where they had amazing service and lovely food. Definitely recommend people to go to the new cafe next door go outdoors!!

Bustling and friendly in the bar with an impressive cocktail maker, complete with all the moves. The menu is simple, good quality pub food. I was impressed that when I commented my glass of Bollinger didn’t have many bubbles, I immediately received a glass of with plenty. I drank both. Cheers.

We came to The Bank House on Wednesday evening for a birthday celebration in a group of 6. Good parts, service was friendly, welcoming and the food was nice. After a while orders were taken. Me and my partner ordered the house share platter, another couple ordered two steaks and another a beef burger which were all nice. 40 pound each for the share platters which would have been quite high if not for the 50% midweek offer. The final order was a Greek share platter which the last person had. This was disappointing to say the least, small wrap of halloumi, oily houmous and generally a poor selection compared to the other share platters. Nothing special about the flavour either, tasted shop bought. Price was again high for this, not even worth the half price value speaking frankly and not enough for a sharing platter. Again this took a little while to arrive. Being a celebration we ordered desserts. These took a good 40 - 50 minutes to arrive and again were a mixed bag. 5 of our table ordered the cookie desserts, I believe 10 pounds each. A cookie heated up with a scoop of ice cream, not alot for 10 pounds. But the metaphical icing on the cake was my Eton Mess. 11 pounds for a single scoop of ice cream, shop bought meringne (crumbled and not even half a nest!)and a bland moose. Have attached a picture above for reference and safe to say I was disappointed especially after our near hour wait. Atmosphere would have been good but we were sat in front of a very loud 10 person party. To the point where we couldn't hear ourselves think. Again this would have been acceptable if the rest of the floor was busy, but the other end had a large empty table. We had all been pushed to the same place. So following this experience we won't be having another meal of this type here. Imagine it's good place for drinks and snacks but not for 2 course meals. With so meny other options in Hathersage it's not a place we will be coming to again for a while.

Sunday dinner was terrific !! Tender beef bedded onto creamed cabbage, topped with a homemade Yorkshire pudding and a rich silky gravy. Roast potatoes were great and a side dish of glazed carrots, parsnips and cauliflower with bechamel sauce. The extra boat of gravy shows this place just wants to please. A mouthwatering and well presented dinner that was obviously cooked with care. Glad I booked the table as it was busy and credit to the Bank House for their service. I really enjoyed the quality and preparation in this establishment and therefore would make this my first choice for a Sunday dinner in the future. There are also plenty of other options on their menu on a Sunday. Thanks Bank House, it's a five star from me!

We came for lunch today and ordered the Bank House Board. I am allergic to avocado but not only does it not state on the menu what is on the burger but also at no point was I asked if I had any allergies. When I raised the issue after receiving the food and luckily seeing that inside the burger their was avacado my plate was taken away to replace the burger. This however meant I was unable to eat the sharing platter with my partner as I was never offered another plate which completely ruined the sharing part of the meal and eating together. What I can assume was a manager as she never introduced herself came over. I informed her that the server never asked about any allergies. She then stated that I should've notified them of an allergy as it was my responsibility and they don't ask as its on the back of the menu, not exactly top level customer service. The server places the menu face up on the table so why would anyone think to look on the back. This blatant disregard for issues that could effectively hospitalise someone is unbelievable. The worst part is when we received our bill you had the audacity to put service charge on it.

Service appalling deliberately kept waiting due to a complaint I made 2 weeks ago. The waitress attitude with management left alot to be desired. Very disappointing meal. I had the steak which was OK, decent size but a bit tasteless. My husband had the sole. The fish was nice but he was expecting a meal. The menu descibes permentier potatoes, shrimp, caper and girolle mushrooms with fennel veloute. In reality it was served with those ingredients as a dressing, misleading in our opinion especially when it wasn't suggested he may need some side dishes when ordering. I had to share my meal with him. The waitress did bring us another portion of the 'dressing' but it was poor value for money.

Five of us came for a birthday meal which was booked for 8.00pm. We arrived on time and were told that our table wasn’t ready. When we asked how long we’d wait, we got told “I don’t know” and we were left standing in the crowded bar area. Our table became ready at around 8.20pm and we sat upstairs in the calm and pleasant restaurant. We were told that the scallops had run out, so we asked if they could be substituted for another item, because two of us wanted to have the fish sharing platter, and we were told that the entire platter wasn’t available. We were told there would be a half hour wait for food due to the restaurant being busy. After we had ordered our food at around 8.40pm, our olives and peppers arrived quite quickly, but we didn’t get our main courses until around 9.30pm. The gnocchi was so salty it was inedible, and the hake, described as a “large plate” was the size of a post-it note, and overcooked. The accompanying veg was delicious but there wasn’t enough to justify the £26 price. The soft shell crab burger was missing its pea fritter and truffle mayo. The meat sharing platter was delicious. The house white wine (Portuguese) was good too. We advised our lovely server about the food issues and she was apologetic. We ended up not paying for the uneaten gnocchi and got a few quid knocked off the hake. This was a really disappointing experience, seeing as two of us had been for lunch here a few months ago and the food and service was excellent. We apportion no blame to the serving staff, but something had gone very wrong that night, and being busy isn’t really an excuse.

No explanation of why they'd allowed me to book a table. A half-hearted apology and that was it. We were there a few days ago. We had one of their steak burgers. It was excellent. Had their salt and pepper fries as well. Also excellent. A tad pricey but you get what you pay for. Food is all according to individual taste. Some people prefer Macdonald's burgers to a gourmet burger at a restaurant so all I can say is I enjoy freshly made food made from fresh ingredients and cooked well and with care and presented well. Also good customer service. My experience was all of the above and so I highly recommend it. They did other dishes as well. Check out their menu on line.

My boyfriend and I booked the Bank House on a Friday night. We sat upstairs where it was quite cosy and chilled. Probably, it's the only positive thing I can say about the place. We ordered a small plate each and a main to follow. To pair with the food we asked about a bottle of red. A few minutes later we were told that they didn't have that particular bottle which was fair enough so we ordered another bottle. The waitress was looking for it for 15 minutes, eventually, she grabbed the bottle that was literally behind her on the wine shelf and tried to open it. When we asked to see the label, the wine had absolutely nothing to do with what we ordered. Probably they didn't have the second one as well so the waitress just came around with a random bottle. Obviously, we skipped on that as we were waiting for a while and eventually didn't get what we were asking for. But the highlight of the evening was the main course. I ordered monkfish, my boyfriend - steak. I can't complain about my main as I ate it all, the only one thing I can say afterwards - peculiar and weird. Doesn't taste fish at all, and the mash doesn't combine with other ingredients. My boyfriend’s request on the steak’s stage of cooking was med-rare. Never happened. It was close to well done so he sent it back. 10 minutes later when I was sat with an empty plate he had his RARE steak so he didn't have that one either. When we asked about the bill, the manager brought it over and talked to us about our experience. Obviously, we didn't pay for a steak because my boyfriend had none of them. We also were given a £10 voucher each for the next visit that we are never going to use as it was too much of a disappointment. If you looking forward to a meal out, book somewhere else as going to Bank House can ruin expectations.

Unfortunately I was really looking forward to this dinner I had booked over Easter but was really disappointed. Arrived on time for our booking but the table wasn’t ready yet, once seated waited 40minutes for drinks, wine I ordered wasn’t in stock, the wine the waitress recommended to us also turned out to not be in stock which was a shame. Third attempt at a wine and it tasted as if it had turned. Finally got drinks an hour after arriving. Food was very average unfortunately - got the Japanese share plate. What I can say is that the staff were all really lovely and friendly! Just a shame about the wait times and food quality. Would maybe stop by for a beer at the bar but wouldn’t book in to eat here again.

It was my Birthday and we passed by the Bank House and decided to sit outside with some warm drinks and a pastry. I ordered a hot chocolate, a cappuccino and a cake at the counter inside, and the chap who served me was very brusque and abrupt from the get-go, and it really felt as though I was putting him out. (He was tall, slim, half-caste, wearing some Vans skater shoes). I was offered no spoons or sugar or a tray to carry it outside. I had to ask the younger dark-haired guy who was extremely helpful and kept apologising and actually carried the drinks and plate outside with me. The guy who took my order really soured the experience and has stopped me going back to try the food which actually looked very good. But after waiting around we managed to find a small table in their out door ‘tippie’ area. Menus available on the table with signs saying place your order back in the main bar. So back in again and patiently waited for service. Five minutes in I politely stopped a passing member of staff who then said they had two large bookings that day and were not servicing any more food. So left shattered, hungry and deeply disappointed. Won’t be going back there again 👎

On returning from the chip shop i was refused service at the bar on the grounds that: “My group is no longer welcome” After consultation, I believe the dispute with “My group” was regarding the complimentary mince pies left out on the bar, that attracted a discretionary surcharge to larger “groups”. Our Sunday Roast roundup took us to Hathersage this weekend. We were hoping that the 1 hour and 10 minutes drive from where we live to the Aprés Bar at Bank House Hathersage was worth it and it most definitely was. The weather was miserable outside but what a warm welcome in the Tipi Bar with roaring fires and blankets at hand made it feel nice and cosy. The attention to detail decorating the tipi tansported me to a snowy winter wonderland. With an extensive drinks menu along with many different hot chocolate options. I opted to try a Rioja Blanco which was delicious. Food wise we ordered the Sunday Roast Sharing platter which came piled up with 3 different meats, roasted carrots, parsnips and potatoes, creamy cabbage and red cabbage, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and plenty of gravy. Plates were we warm to ensure that your food mdidn't go cold quickly. They only offer 3 desserts but actually that made the choice easy for John who went for the Baked Cookie Dough with ice cream and biscoff and it was gorgeous. If your looking for somewhere to get you in the mood for the upcoming festive season don't hang about a make a reservation here. They do get extremely busy so booking is advisable.

Great idea of apres ski in the outside teepee. Sunday sharing platter was plentiful and tasty, three meats and all the veg we needed. Even though full I still managed a pudding of baked cookie dough with biscoff bits and ice cream. Massive selection of drinks I was driving so a nonalcoholic beer for me. Recommend booking as it got busy.

Have really enjoy it in the past but this time. 11,11,23 me and a family member standing at the bar for a long time been ignored. To the point where one man over our shoulder shouted to bar lady was it you that severed me and my wife coffee an ale last time same again the severed him straight away. Genuinely don’t like moaning at bars and pubs because I know hard times and this place normally good. But to end it looked at us when said who’s next a signalled it was us but then went other side of bar. But did let them know that the toilet was flooding as was blocked. Hope next time is as good as other times wouldn’t normally moan at a good place but felt was rude even if not intentional.

Absolutely love it here. One of our absolute favourite places to eat and drink. Especially in the winter with their stunning Apres Bar.

We did call in for dinner, a party of 5, we were shown to a high table in a corner of the resturant with very high stools that were not very comfortable, we viewed the menu and sat there for over ten minutes and totally ignored, at this point we deciced it wasnt for us and left

Great vibes in the pub. Got there as they opened and the hospitality was fantastic. I ordered a coffee and they got the coffee machine up and running straight away. Service was friendly and coffee was very nice and affordable. Came with a nice biscuit as well. We just used the hotel as a pub as a meeting point to start our stag do. There was a couple ordering food which looked great also. Beer was great and there was darts and a foosball table! 10/10 establishment

Fantastic cafe, the icing on the cake (no pun intended) being the birds feeding next to the window. The staff are friendly and efficient and the the food is of a good standard and reasonably priced. I can't understand the few negative reviews, maybe some folk have unfeasibly high standards/expectations?

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .
