First class chippy, you can tell they really care. The owner came and chatted to ppl like old friends, the serving staff went out of their way to satisfy small details and were full of smiles. And of course the fish and chips were outstanding; I normally only eat fish & chips under protest but these really hit the spot.

Everything cooked fresh and tastes delicious!

Came here with a group of my friends from church, exceptional service, if I could give ten stars I would! Alex and his staff are superb, not a fault wrong. God bless this place, Alex and his staff. Please come and check this out if you’re in the area, well worth it!

Possibly the friendliest fish and chips restaurant I've ever been in. If only every restaurant served food of such quality and with such great service. The young man in the restaurant section is how all waiters should be. He is a credit to himself and his employer. In fact all the staff were helpful and friendly.

Staying at sandybrooke lodges went it to ashbourne for food can honestly say they were the best fish and chips I've eaten staff really freindly would recommend 👌

Been coming here for 30 years and can honestly say I've never had a bad meal an added bonus for me is they do gluten free fish and chips Monday to Thursday👍👍 Excellent range of other chippy products pies, sausages etc. Service is always fast and friendly but like any chippy a little wait is expected at busy times plus the GF food is cooked to order.

We've eaten in absolutely lovely so returned for takeaway we was served by a lovely man made us laugh while we waited WILL was his name he'd left but returned to help out made our wait go quicker The portion of chips are huge 😍

Just had their cod and haddock with chips...probably the best fish and chips I have EVER had. Genuinely, absolutely top notch. Service was outstanding too. The lad who served me was so generous with my daughter who came in with me. Just brilliant....

The fish and chips I have ever tasted

Great food served freshly cooked, quickly and with excellent customer service. The restaurant was clean and tidy with tables being cleared and cleaned as soon as customers left. The staff were really polite and couldn't do enough to help. We had Scampi & Chips and Steak Pie & Chips and Tea and Coffee.

Came in earlier in the day, just on holiday with the family so didn’t know about this place but glad I found it. Absolutely lovely place to stop at and eat. The young fella who served us (I believe his name was Callum) was absolutely amazing. Great service and very helpful for my children’s fussy requirements.

Good menu and fast service. The fish and chips were delicious. A nice place to eat, with friendly staff.

Took in an order on Friday evening for meals for 19 people for 8pm Saturday evening, for after we returned to our holiday let after a day at Alton Towers. Was ready on time for us, and each order correct. Food was delicious and the staff so friendly and competent. Thank you Market Place chippy .

What a gem! We stopped here after a day cycling the Tissington Trail. Never been before so didn’t realise you could eat in, which we decided to do. Ordered two mini fish and chips and one large cod and chips, which were cooked to order. Everything was perfect, tasty and very hot. The curry sauce - WOW! Maybe the best I’ve tried. Well done team, will definitely be back when we’re next in the area. 👌🏼👍🏼

Great value small fish, chips & peas

We originally planned to go to a pub for tea but spotted this little hidden restaurant as we passed by and changed our mind! Really fast service for a reasonable price, felt like we were by the seaside even this far in land. It was also really nice to be able to sit inside while we ate without a long wait for a table. A definite recommendation for a quick bite or a full meal!

A consistently good chip shop. The fish is nice but order cod if you want to avoid skin on. Little cafe restaurant which is pleasant.Recommended.

What a treat. We had fish chips and peas today in the cafe. Every element of the meal was perfectly cooked and served on ceramic plate with proper cutlery. A very friendly service in a comfortable and clean environment. We will be back.

Just passing through Ashbourne with there lovely Christmas lights and decided to stop off athe chip shop we ate in 3 pies chips peas & gravy ,1 fish chips peas teas & coffees everything was pipping hot and good service will definalty go back

Don’t come here often but when I do, the staff are always friendly and the food is top notch! Fresh fish was beautiful and the chips were crispy and fluffy, just the way they should be.

Hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. The haddock was amazing and so fresh. Very reasonable prices considering the current economy. The service was excellent and I even met the main man Alex. As a field service engineer I have sampled fish and chips from all over the UK and I can say with utmost confidence this is the best 👌 Can't wait to be back.

Absolutely gorgeous fish and chips. Haven't been for ages as I don't live in the area, but planning a visit to Ashbourne soon and this is where I'll be going for lunch.

The lad was a bit hasty with the order, but it was confusing with the weird vibes he was getting from our indecisive group. Cooked a fresh haddock for me perfectly, crispy batter, and flaky pieces of haddock in side. Chips could have been a bit fresher, but we were there towards the end of the night, so what would you expect. Good fish n chips from a great chippy

Best fish n chips ive ever ever had!!. Had the large fish n chips on Saturday 9th September 23. Had to wait about 10 minutes whilst it was freshly cooked. The portion was large. The chips were cooked to perfection in nice clean oil, with no after taste like some chippy's. The cod was cooked perfectly in a thin crispy batter. Absolutely superb. Went straight back into the shop and told him they were the best I've ever had. Obviously he thanked me and appreciated my comments. Well recommend this place. Andy Bryan Wolverhampton

Best fish and chips on the planet

Possibly the best fish & chip shop I've visited in the UK! I now travel from burton on trent regularly to visit, great for bikers as it is situated at the edge of a big carpark. Food is 10/10 on every visit, the staff are great and very welcoming and the prices are great for the quality & portion sizes! A must visit chip shop in the Peak District area!

Not great if you want proper English beer and full of loud, elderly slightly racist people. Not a great outdoor are either, surrounded by biffs bins.

Mind the step down on your way in. Really good portion sizes and menu selection. You can eat in, takeaway or, sit outside. Sitting outside is cheaper if the weather is right. Helpful beeper system when things are busy. Take the fob and when it buzzes/beeps your food is ready. Inside felt a tad dingy as not enough natural daylight and more steps to deal with.

See photos attached - olde world fish & chip shop & restaurant. Service was fairly quick, but they were busy. A call back system (card that vibrates) is used to take outside & wait. Can’t wait inside as the area to order is tiny. Fairly good prices - chips can be battered…fish was a good size. Options for children’s meals. No kebab meat. Would recommend.

Really tasty fish and chips. We sat inside which was nice. We introduced some international visitors to curry sauce, jumbo sausages, and they introduced us to vinegar on mushy peas! It was interesting to see they are gluten free Monday to Thursday.

Had the large fish & chips with mushy peas for £13.65 and ate it in the restaurant. The cod was massive and beautifully cooked, light batter and not overdone like you find in some chippies. Lovely freshly cooked proper chips and all washed down with a nice mug of tea which was only a quid when bought with a meal. 4.5 out of five and would definitely recommend.
