Had brilliant birthday meal at Smoke & Ice Retford. Delicious food great atmosphere staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly if they tried. All the staff were great at helping my mum who is a wheelchair user and took time explain menu and sauces ect. Thanks again for the happy birthday song all 10 of us really enjoyed it and would definitely be back. 🥳🥳🥳🥳

The best place for brunch. Lovely people who work there and they make such great coffee. 100% recommend this place for great food and a peaceful setting.

An absolutely spotless cafe with huge warm welcome. Faultless service and great coffee. All staff are friendly and so obviously want customers to enjoy the cafe.

Service ladies were so lovely and good laugh. Atmosphere was really warm and cosy, like you are in a house in the country. Food knocked ma prosthetic leg off. Best garlic bread and espresso Martini I've ever had. Going to come back when back down this way.

What an absolute delight our visit to Papa's Fish and Chips in Retford was! From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. I ordered the classic fish and chips which was nothing short of perfection. The fish was incredibly fresh with a crispy, golden batter that crackled with each bite, while remaining light and not at all greasy. The chips were thick-cut, fluffy on the inside and wonderfully crisp on the outside - exactly how proper British chips should be! My wife decided on the donor kebab, which she absolutely raved about! The meat was succulent and flavorful, served with fresh salad and a delicious sauce that complemented the dish beautifully. The portions were generous, the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our meal, making sure everything was to our satisfaction. Cleanliness was also top-notch, which is always reassuring when dining out. If you're in Retford and craving either traditional fish and chips or a tasty kebab, look no further than Papa's! We'll definitely be returning on our next visit to the area. A hidden gem that deserves all the praise!

Being from much further south and not having a clue about Retford we thought we’d give Amir’s a go. Friendly staff, very attentive. The food was really good. I had the Retford Korahi Jalfrezi with beef. In all honesty I was expecting the beef to be on the tough side but it was so soft, tender and tasty. My husband had the mixed Balti which was also tasty. Not very expensive compared to what we’re used to. Would definitely visit again.

Ordered takeout. Enjoyed the chicken curry and nan and was happy to find suitable and decent halal option. Was not keen on the daal and the dips for the poppadoms were missing which was slightly annoying.

this is an excellent restaurant. The food is great. The staff are polite and helpful. You want a good evening with excellent food fully recommend you book as it is very busy.

Lovely peaceful atmosphere. Friendly staff. Comfortable and pleasant seating area. Loved the wall art. Food was delicious. Throughly recommend and will be returning.

Lovely place and quality of food although slightly overpriced for what you get. However what ruins it is the staff. All we could hear was the staff (4 behind the counter!) moaning and complaining, sometimes about each other. Not very professional at all. Then one of the chefs came down to flirt with the girls behind the counter multiple times. The wrong wine was poured and the drinks took far too long to arrive especially considering how many staff were on.

Not my first visit, excellent food, friendly service, would recommend for breakfast. Good central location and great staff.

This is one of our favourite places to eat, whether its breakfast or dinner, the food is served fresh and hot. The owner is a lovely bloke, and nothing is too much trouble for him. How anyone could leave a bad review is beyond me. We are off there today for our dinner, we mostly go for breakfast every other week but having a change today. We live 16 miles away so not local.
