Wow a lovely authentic home cooked curry. Really enjoyed my chicken curry tonight. I’ve always gone to Everest for my curry but will be coming here now on. I can highly recommend the food here and the service was very friendly.

The staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for us, the lady that servedus was funny too. The food was delicious, lamb madras was tender and juat the right amount of spice and the atmosphere was great, we have just come home from having a my 40th birthday meal and I would total recommend it to anyone, if you want to go on a date or have a family gathering. We will be back very soon.

I don't like leaving bad reviews as I always try and understand reasons for any issues that may arise but as we had ordered this meal for our wedding anniversary it really did ruin the evening for us. I preordered for delivery with us working and then having to run some errands and thought great, pick the perfect time for us to get everything done, set our new table up and eat to celebrate our anniversary. The food was ordered to be delivered for 6pm, I got an alert earlier on to say it was being prepared so thought great, we're on schedule. 25 past 6 came around and we had been waiting for it to arrive, I checked back on the order and it now stated delivered? So I called up and spoke to an abrupt lady who asked for my name and then just said 10 minutes... So I thought OK, fair enough, maybe they're busy and there was an issue with their updates. Another half an hour passed and I tried to call again as still no food. This time it rang and rang and then just cut off. Luckily 10mins after that the food arrived. But, not in a very nice condition. Salad and cold sauces put under all the hot food so they practically curdled. Then the meat juices/sauce had leaked all over everything as the meat was just put into bags that were not sealed in any way. So we couldn't eat any of the sauces, the salad was just mushy and warm, some of the chicken had the most strangest texture and extremely spicy which it didn't say on the menu. The tikka sauce was very sweet, more like a korma which was odd. We managed most of our rice and a bit of naan and had enough. So to say we'd ordered this as a special meal. It was pretty poor and very disappointing as we had never tried Amirs before. Such a shame. EDIT - Emailed the restaurant as requested and have had no response.

Ordered an Indian take away from here this evening. Probably the best Indian food we've had for years. Food was hot, tasty and plentiful, massive chunks of meat. The sauces were creamy, rich and thick. Honestly, great meal, will have to go and sit in and try it next time. looks like this will become our new treat every now and then :-)

Amazing food! It was full of flavour and very tasty. Service was lovely, and staff checked on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was alright. They were very friendly overall! The atmosphere was very cosy, and the tables were set beautifully. The seating was upstairs, with a narrow staircase, but we had no problems with this (although this may not be accessible for some people due to the layout of the building, through no fault of their own) Overall, a very nice place to eat, and I would encourage people to try this food: whether you decide to eat in or take away!

Originally, I went for a takeaway, and then the lady we spoke to explained it was a new family business that opened in Oct 23, and a restaurant was upstairs, so we decided to take advantage. What a shame it couldn't have been better, we ordered chicken tikka pathia, pilau rice, bombay aloo and a keema naan. Well, the pathia was the strangest taste from a generic sauce. The rice was stuck together in lumps from over cooking in the microwave and unfortunately, the aloo was with old potatoes in the sauce. Probably the most off- putting item was the keema naan that I was really looking forward to, but unfortunately, it was empty inside so I asked the lady if I had received the wrong naan as it was empty and tasteless, she replied by saying it had a handful of very fine chicken inside it but was hiding very well and proceeded to take it apart with her hands saying 'look you can see it' I obviously replied I wouldn't be eating that now! Five minutes later she came back to the table apologising about the naan and I replied saying I could not eat it now as I had no confidence as to how clean her hands were and she shouldn't have picked my naan apart trying to proof it had chicken in it! She replied saying oh god she hadn't thought about that and yes I was right and had taught her something!! (Perhaps they should equally be taught that keema naan is made from lamb mince) The bill came and sadly still charged for the naan! Finally the floor was so greasy someone will fall down the stairs soon. What a shame as it could have been so much better.....

Great little restaurant! Food was warm and tasty, but the service was fantastic, we found one of the curry’s a little spicy and they offered to change it straight away and even made us a free extra curry to take home. We will definitely be going again

Called in here tonight for a change after not been for years , it has recently changed hands and the new owners are absolutely lovely , food was really lovely , loved the pickle tray sauces too . Really enjoyed our curries , will definitely be back xx

Absolutely beautiful small family run business...came and had a gorgeous meal with my partner the team was extremely warm and welcoming to us....there is a great selection of drink choices same with meal choices....food arrived promptly and hot and staff carried regular check backs to make sure we was comfortable and happy. Absolutely loved my chicken balti and pilau rice and highly recommend.....we will be visiting again for sure.

Our first take away for years. I learnt that they are under new ownership, the staff were very friendly the new decor was lovely and the food was delicious. We look forward to more take aways and a visit to have a sit down meal in the not to distant future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL CURRY LOVERS 😊

Had a meal here on Sunday night, was the only ones in the restaurant, ordered a pickle tray and poppadoms for starter, the pickle tray was very small, while we was eating our starter the waiter asked us 3 times if we was ready to order our mains, for the main course we both had lamb which wasn't lamb it was dry cubes of something, won't be returning

First visit here tonight with a party of 5. Firstly the young lady host was lovely. She was very professional, friendly and helpful. The food was 10/10. It's was freshly cooked, plentiful and delicious and the pricing is really fair. We all totally enjoyed the whole experience. We would highly recommend and will definitely return. Thank you .

Was a 10/15 mins later than stater but food arrived hot and tasty. Only issue was the cheesy garlic naan.... don't know if it was the last bit or what but I've seen more cheese on my nans feet.

The vegetarian options are really good and full of flavour. My friend had the chicken tikka and she said it was amazing. Definitely recommend.

Useless! My food was running late which is fine as these things happen but when I called up to enquire I was told that my food had left and was with the driver and would only be 5 minutes. Waited for 15 minutes and still no order! Called up the store again to be told that it had just left the kitchen. How could it have when it was with the driver? I got lied to basically!! Then to top it off when my order finally came it wasn’t even hot to say that it had “just left the kitchen” waited all that time and ended up throwing it in the bin, money wasted!

Don’t bother!! Always loved Amir’s until now. Ordered £30 of food including a tikka masala, they sent a Korma (yellow and rediculous amount of coconut) rang to complain and had to explain what a tikka masala was. They resent what resembled 5 pale bits of chicken in tomato soup (£8.95) Rang to complain and he argued I’d ordered the wrong thing! Ended up putting it all in the bin as the rest went cold waiting and the jalfrezi had no spice at all. He rang back 15mins later to argue some more, telling me a tikka masala has coconut and almonds! Convinced its changed hands (even the mango chutney and rice was different).

No atmosphere weird set up lots of plates and uneaten food left 2 foot away from the table. Poor .had lamb curry with YES 3 pieces of meat .

The matka was melted ice cream ! Terrible . The prawn puree was ok . I wanted nan but they sent roti ! Sheikh kebab was ok . The hot meat was not nice !

Tried to order online last week and wouldn't give the discount for ordering online. Rang the restaurant and was told place the order online and click on cash and pay when I get there and they will deduct it off the bill as they were having problems. Online booking with said 30 minutes but when I rang they said it's at least an hour so we decided against it. However, this week we booked early and placed an order for when the restaurant opened. Collected on time. Food was lovely with the exception of the naan breads. I've bought better from the supermarket. They were dry and flavourless, nothing like picture on the website. We were also missing items from the pickle trays with the poppadoms but didn't bother going back. Had different lamb dishes which were lovely and really enjoyed them. What will stop me from ordering again is when we asked for the 10% discount for ordering online and collecting, we were told we had to enter a special code. We pointed out that it wasn't working and the young lad serving said oh yes so took the discount off. We were spending over £50 and if we hadn't had checked the prices before we wouldn't have known. This is put me off the restaurant especially when dealing with cash. I felt the customer service was poor.

Charged me wrong. Didn't get me a bill and after I had payed I asked to see the bill and had the wrong meals on so I told them expecting at the very least a refund and a sincere apology. They didn't refund me and said nothing they could do! Apoling. When I got home I then realised they didn't give me the rice I payed for.

Haven't ordered from here before. Easy to order online and as I was ordering hours on advance they phoned me to double check the time. Food very good and not greasy at all with a good selection . It had clearly not been sitting around either. Would recommend this restaurant

Gutted as I usually enjoy food from Amirs, but todays was absolutely flavourless. How a dish called 'Hot Meat' can have absolutely no heat is beyond me, Lamb Jalfrezi was flavourless. It was so tasteless I actually did a Covid test afterwards to make sure it wasn't me!

My boyfriend is very picky when it comes to take aways in Retford and never been impressed until now !! We’ve had several takeaways here and honestly can not fault Amirs !! Beautiful food always 10/10 and reasonably priced !! Highly recommended !

Lovely little restsurant and takeaway. The owner (and chef), Amir, came out to introduce himself and to check if we had everything we needed. The food was authentic and delicious. It was very reasonably priced, and the music was beautiful. Nice chilled atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and attentive.

Amirs Balti House Retford Food lovely but delivery time shocking. Ordered food on line just before 7.30pm given delivery time 8.38pm came at 10.00pm. This is 2nd delayed delivery in a row, why over promise and under deliver resulting in poor customer care.Sorry will go elsewhere from now.

Since we found out the chef had changed we decided to give it another go it was Delicious we re ordered a few nights later looking forward to another take away but then sadly the chicken wasn't cooked still.pink inside which was a shame.

Ordered some seekh kebab and was absolutely horrified to open up my parcel that they were only cooked from one side and the other side was totally Raw. Not impressed chucked it in the bin and will never go back to this takeaway

Ordered from here for years! Seems recently they have decided to put coconut in masala so informed them I'm allergic so they sent another but then told me I was lying when I told them there was no naan on my order and was extremely rude! Never again!bring back the original owner!

Used to be my go to Indian! But the last 3 times I've been it's been very poor! I don't know if it's under new management or new chefs but it's gone severely down hill! The lamb used to be tender and cooked to perfection! But now it's very dry, tasteless and gristly! Also the guy who answered the phone to me the last three times is a complete idiot! And I mean! A total moron! Had to repeat my order word for word! Tell him how to spell almost everything I said! And he had no clue what onion bhaji's were and told me they didn't sell them (they do) and he kept calling me "ma'am" which was strange. Never thought I'd be saying this! But I won't be eating here again :( EDIT* For the owners response. Unfortunetly I can't be more like an ocean about my experience there. But if you want me to be more, SPECIFIC* then it was 7 months ago. The guy who I spoke to had terrible English! He couldn't understand a word I was saying, And he kept calling me Ma'am! And judging by your own spelling, I hardly think you can be an accurate judge of a persons English skills.

We went to Amers as we fancied Indian food during our short stay in Retford for a wedding. The owner was extremely nice and friendly and the food was so nice! Case in point: their pilau rice was the best I have eaten, and this isn't an easy statement to make as I live in Manchester and have visited enough Indian restaurants to make this judgement. The curry I had was also delicious (garlic chicken) and my fiancé's lamb curry was equally yummy. We got chatting to the owner and it was insightful to know that he goes above and beyond to ensure that he delivers the best to his diners- he knows he has a brilliant chef and gives him a lot of incentive to stay and cook the glorious curries Amers has to offer. At the end of the meal I was lucky enough to see these guys breaking their fast and got to try their "sweet rice" that they usually have at home and don't serve in the restaurant. Their generosity and friendliness was amazing and it was one of the highlights of our weekend away! I'd say this to the owner: serve the sweet rice as part of your menu! Overall I highly recommend this little restaurant, I think the folks here in Manchester should learn a few lessons from these guys down here cooking up a magical storm in Nottinghamshire's countryside.
