Amir's restuarant at Retford. I'm not one to normally moan, I give positive praise as I did with your restuarant only a couple of months ago, I even phoned and thanked you personally for a great meal. Tonight could not be any more of a polar opposite. I will never walk into your restuarant or place a takeaway order again. We placed our order via Just Eat at 7pm, food was scheduled for delivery at 8.30 which is a long enough wait to be fair for a Monday night then I envisage it's a quieter night. By 8.50pm, still no delivery, no phone call, no update. I called Amir's at 8.50pm to find out apparently they had cooked the food, had driven out with the food to deliver it, but couldn't find our house (despite coming several times previously) and instead of a phone call or other means of finding us, just decided to drive back to the restuarant. So.... If you couldn't find us and didn't deliver our food, you didn't call us or update us, how did you imagine this would be resolved? I have revived no apology and in fact quite rude and unhelpful staff. The offer was "we will cook you a fresh meal and we will deliver it out to you". Hang on, you couldn't find us 1/2 hour ago, but now you propose to cook us more food and deliver it, how do you imagine that was happening considering you couldn't find us the first time??? Clearly, I don't want fresh food cooking at 9pm to eat at 10pm, some 3 hours after I've ordered. My attempts at a refund were basically, "not my problem you'll have to go through just eat"..... again no apology, no help and clearly absolutely no care about a decent sized order and unhappy customers. I always try to support the places that get bad press, but on this occasion I can't help but join in with the people who say your service is appalling. I asked for the guys name on the phone, he wouldn't spell it out for me, but apparently there's no manager or owner in tonight. I hope they see this post and realise what an absolute disservice you have done for their business (if you weren't the owner or manager) with your poor attitude and insanely poor service. I'll never use your restuarant or takeaway again, tonight's episode is inexcusable. Had you been decent and offered a discount, a refund, an apology I may have been on board. You've wasted £40 worth of food and caused yourselves another negative post. We will go back to others we've used before.

Food some of best ive tasted. Spoke to the owner when we finished our meal, she clearly has passion in her cooking and to suceed. The reaturant was quiet with little atmoshere a shame really, most of the buisness seams to be take away, indian food always taste nicer when eating out. More people shoud try eating out here and the atmoshere would improve if a little busier.

Had our first takeaway from Amirs and it won't be our last. The staff were very courteous and efficient. The food was the best we've had from anywhere in Retford,or the surrounding area. Will definitely be back soon.

Ordered a mushroom curry alongside other food as I am vegetarian. The food arrived late and was cold - but worst of all they sent a chicken curry. The manager needed to be reminded about customer service (didn’t say sorry, etc.).

Always good food that they will adjust to how you like it.

A little hidden gem on the outskirts of Retford town. First time here, but it definitely won't be our last! Family run business with very friendly service. Reasonable prices, lots of offers too. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty 😋 I'm not surprised they have so many awards. Definitely not one to miss! We had chicken bhuna, chicken tikka masala, onion bhaji, garlic naan, garlic cheese naan, mushroom rice, and pickle tray. Help keep a local family run business open by ordering through their website or app, Justeat take 25% when you order through them 😞

Can’t rate on the food as it never arrived after but they took my money, no answer on the phone or to any of my messages. Why take an order and the money if they can’t provide the food, no update, no apology 😔

Unreliable. We used to be regular customers of Amirs and generally enjoy their food, when it arrives... the last two orders we have made via their website have not been delivered at all and by the time we knew, it was too late to order anything else. People we spoke to didn't really seem to care either time and it has been disappointing as the food was nice. Avoid if you actually want your food delivering!

Our first time trying Amirs and it was absolutely sensational. Truly delicious food served hot and fresh. Attentive and friendly staff and good, cold beer! Perfect 💙

Massively disappointed after making serval attempts to contact the establishment to only every recieving one message back stating "what about" On Monday evening (9th December) we decided to order a takeaway from your restaurant. We have ordered from you a number of times before and have been very impressed with the high quality of food, definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have visited. There were a number of issues that you should be made aware of: 1) We initially attempted to order through your ‘app’ but were unable too as it kept throwing us out saying ‘incorrect amount!’ This meant we had to go through Just Eat which was £12 more expensive - a sum I imagine that your restaurant does not benefit from. However, as we consider you the best around we were not unduly troubled by this. 2) When the food arrived, it was in no way up to your usual standard. My wife’s favourite starter - The Fish Pakora, was not just undercooked but in fact raw! The batter was soggy too but, as I’m sure you’ll agree, she would have been wrong to eat this slimy offering as she would still be suffering food poisoning even now. 3) For no explicable reason you had also included some battered and deep fried prawns which we hadn’t ordered. At least I presume they were prawns as this time they were so overcooked as to be indescribable! We would have much rather had the pakora cooked properly in the first place. 4) The Garlic Naan was nice on the outside but was little more than raw dough in the middle so only a tiny portion of this was edible. Again, such a shame, as the Naan bread is always a highlight of a meal from you. Whilst I am aware that we ordered on a Monday night and you may not have had your best chefs at work, I would expect them to know how to cook these basic dishes. Especially considering some of the new, exciting and varied dishes that have started to appear on your menu.

Love the food usually but the last 2 times I’ve tried ordered a delivery it’s been hours and then arrived cold! I tried calling lots but no answer as to where my order is… frustrating!!

First time here and the food was lovely. The biggest standout was how polite and attentive the staff were. It’s a rare treat to be treated in such a nice way and to top it off the food was well cooked,,fresh, tasty and came out without any delays even though the restaurant was full. This was our first time coming here, the food was very flavourful, fresh and very delicious. A lovely little family ran business, all the staff were very lovely and very pleasant, Mitali was the lady looking after us for the night and I cannot fault her, her service was absolutely impeccable, a very kind soul. Would certainly recommend coming here.

First impressions of this place were good, had a meal upstairs, unfortunately those first impressions didn’t last long as while we were eating, we could hear a staff member arguing with someone downstairs, quite loud and heated, very unprofessional and I hope this wasn’t a customer, completely ruined our experience and peaceful night

Staff always go above and beyond, these guys know how to cook! Portion sizes are generous, a must try is the saag paneer! All the curry's we have tried have all been fresh and delicious.

The food could of been packed more for 50£. But it did have flavour but it not authentic Indian it had different flavours of a normal Indian dish.

Really gone down hill from what used to be a nice takeaway, chewy onion bahjis, rice rock hard, dry naan bread, flavourless meat, barely even warm, masala chips with barely any spice. Absolutely appalling. Neither of us ate it. Avoid.

The staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for us, the lady that servedus was funny too. The food was delicious, lamb madras was tender and juat the right amount of spice and the atmosphere was great, we have just come home from having a my 40th birthday meal and I would total recommend it to anyone, if you want to go on a date or have a family gathering. I don't like leaving bad reviews as I always try and understand reasons for any issues that may arise but as we had ordered this meal for our wedding anniversary it really did ruin the evening for us. I preordered for delivery with us working and then having to run some errands and thought great, pick the perfect time for us to get everything done, set our new table up and eat to celebrate our anniversary. The food was ordered to be delivered for 6pm, I got an alert earlier on to say it was being prepared so thought great, we're on schedule. 25 past 6 came around and we had been waiting for it to arrive, I checked back on the order and it now stated delivered? So I called up and spoke to an abrupt lady who asked for my name and then just said 10 minutes... So I thought OK, fair enough, maybe they're busy and there was an issue with their updates. Another half an hour passed and I tried to call again as still no food. This time it rang and rang and then just cut off. Luckily 10mins after that the food arrived. But, not in a very nice condition. Salad and cold sauces put under all the hot food so they practically curdled. Then the meat juices/sauce had leaked all over everything as the meat was just put into bags that were not sealed in any way. So we couldn't eat any of the sauces, the salad was just mushy and warm, some of the chicken had the most strangest texture and extremely spicy which it didn't say on the menu. The tikka sauce was very sweet, more like a korma which was odd. We managed most of our rice and a bit of naan and had enough. So to say we'd ordered this as a special meal. It was pretty poor and very disappointing as we had never tried Amirs before. Such a shame. EDIT - Emailed the restaurant as requested and have had no response.

I don’t normally leave reviews. The food was good although it took a while to be delivered. The reason I decided to leave a review is the lovely dessert ceramic pot. Such a nice and different touch and worthy of elevating it all to a 5 stars reviews.

Avoid at all costs! 2 hours since ordering and no delivery. Rang the restaurant to chase up and they were abrupt and said it will be with you in 5-10 mins without even checking delivery address/ order details. Unsurprisingly, the order still has not arrived so they’ve basically just taken our money at this point.

Amazing food! It was full of flavour and very tasty. Service was lovely, and staff checked on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was alright. They were very friendly overall! The atmosphere was very cosy, and the tables were set beautifully. The seating was upstairs, with a narrow staircase, but we had no problems with this (although this may not be accessible for some people due to the layout of the building, through no fault of their own) Overall, a very nice place to eat, and I would encourage people to try this food: whether you decide to eat in or take away!

Originally, I went for a takeaway, and then the lady we spoke to explained it was a new family business that opened in Oct 23, and a restaurant was upstairs, so we decided to take advantage. What a shame it couldn't have been better, we ordered chicken tikka pathia, pilau rice, bombay aloo and a keema naan. Well, the pathia was the strangest taste from a generic sauce. The rice was stuck together in lumps from over cooking in the microwave and unfortunately, the aloo was with old potatoes in the sauce. Probably the most off- putting item was the keema naan that I was really looking forward to, but unfortunately, it was empty inside so I asked the lady if I had received the wrong naan as it was empty and tasteless, she replied by saying it had a handful of very fine chicken inside it but was hiding very well and proceeded to take it apart with her hands saying 'look you can see it' I obviously replied I wouldn't be eating that now! Five minutes later she came back to the table apologising about the naan and I replied saying I could not eat it now as I had no confidence as to how clean her hands were and she shouldn't have picked my naan apart trying to proof it had chicken in it! She replied saying oh god she hadn't thought about that and yes I was right and had taught her something!! (Perhaps they should equally be taught that keema naan is made from lamb mince) The bill came and sadly still charged for the naan! Finally the floor was so greasy someone will fall down the stairs soon. What a shame as it could have been so much better.....

delivery took over 2hrs and all I got from the receptionist was its on its way, unacceptable. then when the food did arrive it was luke warm. very disappointing wouldn't recommend it over others.

Great little restaurant! Food was warm and tasty, but the service was fantastic, we found one of the curry’s a little spicy and they offered to change it straight away and even made us a free extra curry to take home. We will definitely be going again

not a good Indian I'm afraid, had lamd madras and was only 4 little bits of lamb in the dish, 90% of it was all the sauce. rice and chips was ok I suppose.

Do not buy from here if you are a fan of Indian food. this was an absolutely terrible choice, and wouldn't even class it as Indian food. Go to the local lidl and buy an Indian meal for 1, which as 10x the flavour of these dishes. also don't order any lamb curries as there is 0 lamb in the dish. maybe they just don't understand what lamb is perhaps. I ordered from here reading the reviews, but clearly they are manufactured reviews from the takeaways "family" members. Avoid at all costs!

We dined on Saturday..the family feel to the restaurant was fantastic..the service was friendly, hilarious and spot on.. the food was absolutely delicious.. I had one of the best evenings I've had in a long time.. I can not recommend this place highly enough.. go and try it.. you will not be disappointed!! Called in here tonight for a change after not been for years , it has recently changed hands and the new owners are absolutely lovely , food was really lovely , loved the pickle tray sauces too . Really enjoyed our curries , will definitely be back xx

We ordered a number of dishes and they were all extremely tasty and plentiful.

The food was beautiful. Full of flavour and cooked perfect.

Delivery was so late. The food was nice when it finally arrived.

Ordered vegetable madras and chicken madras delivered. The chicken curry was subsequently collected a couple of hours later. Refund requested, but not received.
