Very recent visit with friends was generally speaking up to the same high standards. Clean, light and airy restaurant, friendly and efficient service, table served food which was hot and well presented. Only real gripe is the size of portions bearing in mind the full price per meal is around £10. One of our group had chicken curry, the portion of rice was adequate but the curry barely covered the bottom of the bowl and contained only three pieces of chicken, not really enough. The other members of the party had cottage pie, very tasty but again portions of pie were served in relatively small enamel dishes with very small quantities of two types of veg on a separate plate. Not really enough for a tenner. Many diners are of course members of the privilege discount club so enjoy a "two for one" offer three times per year so halving the price of the main course, it's only fair to mention this but for someone paying the full price meals are not good value for money.

Still visit this lovely cafe regularly, either for coffee with my Mam or a meal with family. It's clean, and I've never had a meal here that I didn't enjoy. Good choice of veggie options. A bit limited on vegan options but most local cafes are - however the staff are happy to tweak meals and breakfasts, and I've found that one of the two homemade soups on offer are usually SFV :) Mostly we like the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, and my son is always made to feel welcome.

It was our first time visiting the cafe, we went to meet up with a cousin we hadn't seen for a few years. When we went into the cafe you could see how clean & tidy it was, I ordered at the counter and the young lady was very polite & friendly, I ordered a pot of tea, a Diet Coke & two toasted tea cakes, the young lady said that she'd bring the tea cakes over. When she brought them over I was so pleased because I hate dark or burnt tea cakes & they were absolutely gorgeous just the right colouring and the flavour was wonderful. The young lady was very a tentative but not over the top with it, just kept asking if we were ok with everything.

In many respects I would have given this a 5 rating but - Loved the layout and decor of the place for me it shows the owners and staff have a passion for the place in what they do . So many special boards inside and out are confusing but really nice as they give a special feel . Loved the open kitchen especially at 8.20 am .The staff are confident in what they do and have no problem showing it ,Service was excellent throughout ,newspapers were available, what more could a boy want lol .Just had a breakfast which was good . Massive sausage , which was nice, bacon really good quality . The egg was ok but a little "overdone" for me .Everything else was "Spot on "Will definately be coming back . This cafe can be difficult to find through the greenhouses and please don’t mistake it for the cafe opposite the car park which is much better. We visited mid afternoon on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We have decided to have the pulled pork but on nearing the queue we observed it being pulled out of the serving dish with water dripping off it, and they had run out by the time we got there anyway. So for the alternative we chose a sausage baguette, and were told there was only one left so settled for a cheese sandwich. The members of staff seemed quite unhelpful when we selected the dishes that weren’t available, despite the fact that they were still on the menu and didn’t suggest alternatives. We found seats in the conservatory which isn’t very clean. There was quite a lot of food on the dirty wooden floor, parts of the table were missing and they weren’t cleaned after usage, and the scruffy looking lampshades hanging above where we ate made it quite unpleasant. The lettuce was brown and old and overall not an enjoyable experience. What’s needed is the managers to observe the service and cleanliness and maybe some staff training on customer service. We hate giving bad reviews but must provide the honest feedback.

The whole Dukeries garden centre now has an air of running slowly and sadly downhill. It used to be smart and full of plants, now the stock is very low and the cafe, a favoured haunt for father has become invisible. If you didn't know where it was, you'd never find it through a maze of empty and derelict greenhouses. Inside it has large signs advertising Allergy Friendly services and food, but the reality is the gluten free cake is in small cellophane wrapped bars, in contrast to delicious fresh wheaty cakes, and the bread has to be defrosted then reheated in a microwave. Good idea, badly executed, therefore disappointing.Nice staff, just a bit disorganised. We waited half an hour for a Gluten free roll to be resurrected with the soup, before discovering our order had got mislaid. It finally arrived, but the roll was inedible, very chewy. The wheat rolls were no better, hard and stale. The butternut soup was nice, but we were less than grateful by now. It's a shame to see this whole place deteriorate. Hope it's just a passing phase, probably won't be back until things change. But how will we know?

The coffee is excellent, and locally sourced, and the food second to non, and caters for everyone. The kind of place I take my friends and visitors for a relaxing coffee and a chat, and a friendly chat with the staff, who are always friendly smile and make you feel at home. A little more upmarket than the average caff, tables mixed with leather loungers/settees, good service, staff friendly. Prices are average, e.g. baguettes £2.75, Panini £2.95, Jacket tater £2.90, Americano £1.45, so do not see where pricey, I had a decaff tea ( £1.50 ) last time I went in, that was for a pot and I had over two cups out of it, along with a nice ( large - not one of those average things ) toasted tea cake, £1.20 and 3 pats of butter so not cheapskates like some. Dropped in as an impromptu idea. Children's menu along with the adults food and drink meant we could have a family evening. Toys, crayons, colouring sheet all for the kids so the adults could relax too! Tapas. Order 3 dishes each and share, would be my advice as they are just a nice size to do that with. That was this visit, at other times we have had burger and other main choices. Quality has always been the good and the service whilst perculiar to Rondo's is good; when ordering via the weblinked table QR code. You can order at the bar if required too, I've done that in the past.
