Went for take away last night and the girl serving took one look at my tear stained face and asked me if I was all right with clear concern for my mental health. Outstanding. Though anti climax it was just the cold air agitating my lachrymal glands.

Driven past here numerous times over the last few years. Never got the opportunity to drop in . My loss. It's a cracking little place. Clean, & good decor inside in the 'restaurant' side. Well worth a drop in, or even an informal group meal/ occasion. We had the lunchtime special - mini fish ,chips, peas ,bread & butter + a brew for the princely sum of £6.50!!!! ... True , it wasn't the biggest of meals, but for 2 retirees it was ample. ( & If you're still hungry ,you could order another one at these prices !) They do all sizes of meals. Up to a 32oz Codbuster mega meal .. regular fish are huge .. Starters & mains + desserts are available. They also do a good Breakfast menu , I'm told. Again various sized cooked breakfast + the usual cobs & add-ons. The prices are very reasonable as well . Full English is £8.25 ( includes a brew, I think!) Talking of coffee .. they have a really nice decaff coffee here . 😂... ( If you opt for a pudding be sure you've got the space for it !) We shared a banana cheesecake & still couldn't finish it , on top of our meal + drinks .( It's not my favourite ,but .. it'll do 'in a pinch'). We 'ate in' as it was too cold outside to wander around. Good decision. The staff are attentive, professional, talkative & friendly. Like being at your aunties for tea. 👍 It was ¾ full on the Thursday night we went. Warm, friendly people - customers& staff alike. Well worth a drive out . ( We came from Retford). The night before , a lad had ridden on his bike from Leeds !! .. true . (Look it up ).. There's a longer funny story about this, but too much to tell here . Thoroughly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Great food and nice food thank you

Just got back from Misterton in Lincolnshire. Cycled 70 miles to be there. I saw Beard Meets Food on Youtube, and realized that Misterton Chippie where he did his competition, was reachable by bicycle. So I decided to do it too. I set off at 9am, and got there by 4pm. Unlike him, I'm not a competition eater. So I decided to order the Codbuster, purely for pleasure. If there was something I didn't want to eat, I didn't have to. And I'd be able to go slow and taste it, rather than breathing it in. So how was it? The fish and chips, was AMAZING. One of the best tasting fish and chips I've ever had. Traditional oil used. And I'd put this in the 'crispy' camp. The batter was more the crunchy type that the soft type. The chips were somewhat crispy too, rather than the oily bendy type. And I LOVE crispy. The fish was very fresh and flaky. I loved that they did both cod and haddock, because most places these days force you into one type. But Misterton gives you choice. It came with an array of dips. I liked the gravy, thick not watery. Everything was done very generously. The price? FANTASTIC. The Codbuster is the same weight as 4 portions of fish and chips. Therefore, at £25 with a free drink and bread and butter and sauces, its like getting each fish and chips for £5. Thats a real steal. I know theres economies of scale involved, so it should be cheap... but still, if they'd made it £30 it would've been worth it. (£35 would probably be pushing it.) The restaurant itself was really nice. No air freshener, thankfully. It smelled fresh, and didn't hit you with any horrible chemical smells you can taste. Decor was modern. Nice and warm. Locals chatting friendlyly. So did I finish my Codbuster challenge? Umm... no. I ate all the fish. All the bread n butter. Decided to use the sauces to dip my chips in. I got through about half the chips, then gave up. Chips are just too darn filling. I know I didn't get through more than half of the chips. (Everything else was relatively easy for me.) The service? SUPERB. I've never been served by friendlier people in my entire life. I know that when people write glowing reviews, they sometimes exaggerate. But this is no exaggeration. It was the best in my life. Let me explain... First, a real shout out to the owner of this place. He was a really stand-up genuine guy. All the staff came out to say hi to me as I ate the Codbuster. Last but not least, the owner of the chippie came for a quick chat. He took a real interest in my story. How I'd cycled all the way from Leeds, specially to be at his chipie. And I asked him about his day too. (He'd been having a bad day and I felt bad for him, but it hadn't dented his friendliness one bit!) After I was done, the owner offered me a free piece of cheesecake. Don't get me wrong, I was MASSIVELY full, but I accepted anyway. This was an event. Now, I'm not a cheesecake fan. But it was the only desert they had, and I thought I'd push the boat out for the occasion. And it was DELICIOUS. Not just the best cheesecake I've ever had, but one of the best deserts I've ever had, period. Really creamy. Strong strawberry flavour. I really wanted to finish the last bite, but I simply couldn't. By this point, my stomach was beginning to feel the sting. I was SO full. No way I was cycling home. But I always keep a tent with me. And the owner, without me even asking, told me I should just set my tent up in their yard. So I actually stayed at the chippy all night... an experience I'll probably never have again in my life! Such a fantastic place, you MUST go visit them, if its at all possible for you. Don't go expecting freebies or to camp or anything :P. But still, if you're in genuine need, these are the type of people to give the shirt off their backs to help. So please, go out of your way, and give them your business!

Been wanting to come here since we saw the codbuster challenge on beard meets food YouTube channel. The food did not disappoint, the curry sauce was amazing, the fish and chips were not greasy at all and we all really enjoyed the meal. We had loads of chips left over for round 2 that evening. The staff are outstanding. Thank you for an amazing experience, hope to be back again :)

Wow 🤩🤩🤩🤩 we've been intending to come here for quite a while and I wish we'd come before now, I can honestly say this was the best large haddock and chips I've ever had, absolutely mega, it's an hours run but so very much worth it 👍😁

Ten out of ten! This is the best fish and chip shop in the world! Try the large cod and chips, pies, spam fritters and slabs of cheesecake! The fish is delicious and fresh, the batter is gorgeous and the chips taste out of this world. The staff are first class, the fish and chips are first class and the fridge is full of cans of hard to find drinks like Burdock lemonade. Top place try it for yourself you'll be amazed.

Visitado esta mañana después de tomar un viaje desde skegness, fue servido por una joven encantadora que claramente sabe lo que está haciendo. El bacalao y las patatas fritas eran para morir, así como el acuerdo de pastel que era una gran relación calidad-precio. y WOW la tarta de queso de plátano no decepcionó! vamos a volver, bien vale la pena el viaje 👏👏👏

Una larga espera para venir aquí, sin embargo, valió la pena. Con mucho, lo mejor. Acogedora zona de restaurante, servicio rápido y educado por la joven. Comida cocinada a pedido y caliente. Impresionante eglefino blanco espeso en LA mejor y más sabrosa masa y deliciosas papas fritas cocinadas en goteo de carne de res. Ahora vamos a chippy a pesar de no ser local, más que vale la pena la unidad.

Order regularly for work on a Friday dinner. The cans of drink regularly get forgotten. But great food... the cheese cakes are a must

This is the second time we've been here for Fish & Chip and they've been rubbish. First, the fish batter was greasy and the chips stale, second visit tonight, iv had more fish in a Lidls fish finger and the chips were once again stale - Not good! Dont think we'll call again.

The worst chips I’ve ever been served, cold and stale

Yesterday we dined there and the restaurant was lovely. Definitely the best fish and chips around Gainsborough, portions are massive and the food crispy and delicious. But unfortunately I found about a 2 inch long strand of metal wire in my fish. At first I thought it was a bone as I was eating fish at the time and something was sticking to the back of my throat which I removed from my mouth. I chose not to mention this until the end of the meal after I had paid, as it's a small restaurant and I didn't want anyone to over hear and be put off their food - I did not show the strand of metal, though I had left it on my plate. In hindsight perhaps I should have. The staff had been friendly and I had no issues up until then. However after mentioning that their was a metal wire, which looked similar to a strand from a metal scourer the waitress said that "She was sorry about that but they didn't use metal scourers in the kitchen." At this point I felt that the waitress didn't believe me or that there was any concern to bring it up to the other kitchen staff. Despite having been an obvious choking hazard. I don't think the waitress was being nasty, but I don't believe it was dealt with any importance or true consideration. Obviously this hadn't been a metal strand from a scourer as it was in my fish and shouldn't have been there which in my opinion is more concerning. In truth, I don't want to leave a 2 star review as it was delicious and bar this issue, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was comfortably cosy despite being small. I hope to visit again next month and will change my review accordingly. Bar how the issue was dealt with, the chippy is worth 5 stars.

Beautiful fish and chips for tea lovley crisp batter

Wow what a chippy. I was recommended this by a man in Gainsborough. He was not wrong. I would absolutely recommend it. The fish was big and fat not skimpy like most chippys and the Prices were fair I think my large fish and chips came to about £10. Where I live this is more likely to be about £17. This is what a chippy should be like. If I ever venture to this part of the world again I will definitely pay a visit.

Called in tonight on way to West Stockworth bike night after reading rave reviews, was really disappointed, people must be easily satisfied, the fish batter was under cooked soggy on the inside, chips were tasteless.

Hells visited yesterday Friday teatime for tea well service was 110% by five minutes I was served without any fuss girls in here are always polite and friendly and specialy young girl served me think hair tied up was really friendly and polite think had brownish hair want say great service with smile this is what makes world go round better thank you to all

I visited this establishment at 9:30 am on July 21st. It took me 2 hours to walk there on purpose. I wanted to try fish and chips, but, as one of the clients explained to me, for some reason this dish is not prepared on Sundays. I was very disappointed, it seems to me that we need to warn about such nuances. Had to order a full English breakfast. Paid 8 pounds and something. It was luxurious, I left full, but since there was no Wi-Fi in the establishment, my joy was incomplete. Local residents, mostly elderly, were eating next to me, and I felt very good. This cafe has very strange opening hours, some days it is not open at all. Be careful those who want to eat here.

Today I went to Misterton Chippy & Bistro and I had a regular cod and chips with mushy peas. The mushy peas are delicious, They are the nicest ones I have ever had. They also do the Codbuster challenge, They are really popular and the chip shop cafe. A lot of people go to the takeaway shop next door to the cafe. A lot of people go there. I have been twice and I have had some lovely meals there. The Cod and chips are really filling, But it is worth it. The chip shop is wheelchair accessible, but their is quite a large step to get inside and the staff are always there to help you out. There needs to be a ramp instead of a large step for people in wheelchairs and babies in pushchairs. They have only got one toilet for people to use. There needs to be more than one toilet. Parking is on site and there is plenty of parking spaces close by. I would definitely recommend Misterton Chippy & Bistro. Great food and great service. The staff always make me feel welcome every time I go to the chip shop 😊

Just had the big breakfast and I can safely say one of the best ever. Piping hot and all good fresh produce. Fairly priced as well.

Good value for money, quality products used and great service too. Couldn't fault it. Infact other half said it was the best breakfast he's had and he doesn't compliment very often 🤣

Having heard good feedback about this chippy my wife and I decided it was worth a visit at 17.00 on Thursday. We sat in the restaurant and ordered regular haddocks chips and mushy peas. We were served our meal within five minites. The fish was only about 10 mm thick very dry to the taste and thickly covered in batter. The chips were covered with internal blacks spots and lots of them were like scraps that you couldn’t stick your fork in. Those and the fish were only Luke warm like they had been fried and stood for a good while. The peas were very good though.

Ordered food to go, simple enough order. The lady taking my order asked me at least 3 times if I wanted salad (in the space of 5-7 minutes), twice if I wanted sauce then completely forgot the chips I'd asked for (which I unfortunately did not notice until I got home, luckily my Mother gave me some from her order). Imagine my disappointment opening my tray-box to find a burger and nothing else. The food was really nice, just felt a little let down by the Staff serving at the time. The Biscoff Cheesecake was fabulous and definitely cheered me up though. 10/10 Could use a little more attention when taking orders (perhaps a whiteboard or notepad to help them remember). Thankfully wasn't charged for the missing item but did end up still a bit hungry.

Ate in the adjoining cafe - Totally fantastic - one of if not the best fish and chip shop we’ve visited in a very very long time! Superb value - amazing quality and quantity. Cannot recommend enough! You will not be disappointed!! The batter is incredibly crisp, the special of sea bass and Samphire chilli prawns was exceptional!! Well done !!

The service was good and food was good but very greasy

Bistro was ok, needs a good clean. Fish and chips were average - we visited on the back of the various food challenges we have seen online. Didn’t try the challenge just had the Haddock, batter wasn’t great tbh and chips were average.

How this place has so many positive reviews is beyond me.. I have never seen so much oil and grease on a "Fish and Chips" dish before. The service is poor and the hygiene standards of this establishment need to be addressed.

The best Fish and Chips I have ever had I was very happy with the fish and chips tasted amazing also the staff were so nice and friendly I would recommend this Chip Shop Restaurant to anyone who likes traditional fish and chips.

Food is excellent and staff are very friendly. If you do have any problems with food if you talk to staff they sort the problem out but you need to talk to them they are not mind readers. This is my go to fish and chip shop will never use any other . Keep up the good work guys we do appreciate the hard work.

1st visit. Had lunch special. Cod, chips, tea or coffee, slice bread n butter. The Cod was amazing. Thick and juicy (that's the only word I can use to describe it. Portion size good. No need for dessert. £6.50. I will be back for more. I live quite a way from the Chippy, 35mins if I go proper way 50mins if I go scenic route (got lost actually). Went to butchers as well. Just told neighbour about it. 👍😋😋😋

Omg, went here last Friday after getting to our caravan and had fish bites, chips with curry and it was absolutely brilliant and yummy, you get loads for just £4.50. We will definitely be going back again

Took my Dad for his birthday last Saturday. It was our first visit but won't be out last. Great atmosphere and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The food is amazing, fresh seaside fish and all perfectly cooked. We will be back as my Dad lives 10 minutes away. Great experience.

Used to be my go to place for fish and chips I live in Rotherham and have sent may people here but the last 2 times have been disappointing. Chips very poor dried up Fish was large but the batter has changed and lost its way in flavour. Disappointed but won't be returning again.

Just been here whilst working in the area, chip butty and small battered sausage, has to be one of the best I’ve ever had, really good quality, great price, generous portion size and friendly staff!

Bench seats are a bit small, and with the current layout I know you can't do much about that, but the cod was amongst some of the best we have had. Not disappointed by the 60 mile round trip !

The fish is to die for, super crispy and light batter. Will definitely be coming back.

Amazing chip shop, great staff lovely curry sauce

Café/Bistro side was closed on a Saturday afternoon! So just takeaway, which was excellent, battered haddock and chips, sitting on a nearby bench and luckily for us the weather was kind.

What an absolutely lovely place. From the friendly staff and incredible atmosphere to their delectable seasoned food; this is a must stop in the area. The UK is known for their fish and chips, but this place pushes the bar to a whole new level.

Excellent chippy, eat in or takeaway. Lovely food, great service, friendly staff. I know people that travel a long way to come here for the best chippy tea in the area. I always buy fish and chip special, gorgeous. Cannot comment whether they cater for coeliacs as I have not had the need to ask, my son has never been with us when we visit, he needs Gluten Free. Voted best chippy in Doncaster an Bassetlaw.

This challenge is good to order as a sharer, if you doin the timed challenged they portion the chips to gaurantee you pay tho. I watch the beard eats youtube channel eat this and they give him a 5th of the amount of chips they gave me. Thought that was abit shady like. Check picture ive put up then search beard eats misterton chippy and u can see how much they scammed me. The food was bangin tho.
