Misterton Chippy & Cafe in Bassetlaw

1st visit. Had lunch special. Cod, chips, tea or coffee, slice bread n butter. The Cod was amazing. Thick and juicy (that's the only word I can use to describe it. Portion size good. No need for dessert. £6.50. I will be back for more. I live quite a way from the Chippy, 35mins if I go proper way 50mins if I go scenic route (got lost actually). Went to butchers as well. Just told neighbour about it. 👍😋😋😋

Omg, went here last Friday after getting to our caravan and had fish bites, chips with curry and it was absolutely brilliant and yummy, you get loads for just £4.50. We will definitely be going back again

Took my Dad for his birthday last Saturday. It was our first visit but won't be out last. Great atmosphere and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The food is amazing, fresh seaside fish and all perfectly cooked. We will be back as my Dad lives 10 minutes away. Great experience.

The worst fish and chips iv ever had, the chips were dry and like little scraps, the fish was dry and tasteless

Used to be my go to place for fish and chips I live in Rotherham and have sent may people here but the last 2 times have been disappointing. Chips very poor dried up Fish was large but the batter has changed and lost its way in flavour. Disappointed but won't be returning again.

Just been here whilst working in the area, chip butty and small battered sausage, has to be one of the best I’ve ever had, really good quality, great price, generous portion size and friendly staff!

Bench seats are a bit small, and with the current layout I know you can't do much about that, but the cod was amongst some of the best we have had. Not disappointed by the 60 mile round trip !

The fish is to die for, super crispy and light batter. Will definitely be coming back.

Called for lunch and wasn't disappointed.The best fish and chips ever.Had the large Haddock and chips which was £9.50 and the fish was huge!! Everything was cooked to perfection.Will definitely be back and highly recommended.

We went for my Daughter's birthday. Absolutely delicious fish and chips. Fantastic prices!! GOOD SIZE PORTIONS. The cheesecake is a lush!!!

Amazing chip shop, great staff lovely curry sauce

Café/Bistro side was closed on a Saturday afternoon! So just takeaway, which was excellent, battered haddock and chips, sitting on a nearby bench and luckily for us the weather was kind.

What an absolutely lovely place. From the friendly staff and incredible atmosphere to their delectable seasoned food; this is a must stop in the area. The UK is known for their fish and chips, but this place pushes the bar to a whole new level.

I’ve used this place many times over the last few years since Shane and Lisa took it on. Great chippy with curry sauce to die for. Best breakfast for miles around as well.

Never had such quick service. Friendly staff and excellent fish and chips. The batter was light and crispy, definitely going back. Other half said the tartar sauce could be better. I don't eat it so I'm no bothered lol

Excellent chippy, eat in or takeaway. Lovely food, great service, friendly staff. I know people that travel a long way to come here for the best chippy tea in the area. I always buy fish and chip special, gorgeous. Cannot comment whether they cater for coeliacs as I have not had the need to ask, my son has never been with us when we visit, he needs Gluten Free. Voted best chippy in Doncaster an Bassetlaw.

World famous chippy in lovely local village, real assest

This challenge is good to order as a sharer, if you doin the timed challenged they portion the chips to gaurantee you pay tho. I watch the beard eats youtube channel eat this and they give him a 5th of the amount of chips they gave me. Thought that was abit shady like. Check picture ive put up then search beard eats misterton chippy and u can see how much they scammed me. The food was bangin tho.

Called in for a breakfast/lunch. Had 2 medium breakfasts that are excellent value for money and very tasty. Barney the dog even got a sausage treat.

It was a quiet Tuesday evening and I wondered if the food would be fresh, but it was faultless, freshly fried, good portion....good value...I greedily ordered a bread bun and struggled to finish. We'll be back again ☺️

Stopped off for a spam and egg and a bacon, egg and sasuage this morning after a night in Bawtry. The butties were amazing!! 👏 ill travel from Leeds for another, put it that way. 😂 Thanks again Dean and Claire.

Asked if I wanted Fish on arrival & said yes, & said two large fish with small chips please. Counter staff gave packaged food over counter. Checked when asked for payment, if the box contained two fish & they said no. Had to wait for second fish to fry whilst pre cooked (warm, not hot) fish from display was put in warm cabinet. Result, one hot, one luke warm portion finally served. Not impressed. Parking available but queue extends into parking area and road by entrance. Very tight to negotiate exit and risk of injury to customers and damage car too.

Long wait although not many eating.

Good, fast service. Great portions served in boxes. Food was still piping hot when I got the fish and chips home, 15 minute journey. Good value and everything tasted just great.

Went has it was shutting so no chips, but the woman gave us a fantastically large fish, large peas and 4 sausages for a discount price, so the service gets a 10 from me👌

Clean and nice decor. Ordered a bacon bap and sausage bap, a coffee and a hot chocolate. Didn't take long to arrive. Baps came cut in half so we had a bit of both each. Payment was made on card so no cash needed. There is a customer toilet should you need it which is clean also. Another table had breakfasts. I don't think they would need to eat again before tomorrow!

Lovely people. A real asset to the area. Honestly I haven't eaten there personally for a while (on a diet 😀) but it is a decent place for more than just fish and chips.

Excellent, best fish and chips we have had in years. We travel from Haxey every week, we could go to closer chip shops, but they just don't come up to Misterton's standard.

Excellent fish and chips. Fish very good, batter fabulous and crispy as it should be. Chips a sensible portion. We ate in and the décor very clean and in keeping with a fish and chip restaurant. Asked for a glass of tap water but as it was such a hot evening I was provided with a cold bottle of water very good attention to detail. Would fully recommend and if in the area would certainly go again.

Our family use the takeaway or dine in, lovely chips, fish, with a great curry sauce too compliment the meal, lovely desserts available with four full tummies. Affordable food and a popular chippy for locals and visitors. Lovely clean business with toilet available when dining in. We'd recommend with polite staff.

Arrived later than planned,19.10pm(closes 8pm)but the staff cooked the food fresh and were very attentive to us. 3x regular cod chips and peas and drinks and was surprised it was cheaper than i thought to sit and eat in the bistro. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back again. Only earlier this time😀👍

Has to be the worse chips I've ever had, semi cooked in the centre, binned them, obviously lack of competitors, means that they just couldn't care what they sell.

Polite staff and superb quality fish and chips

1 star is a star too many. We had cod n chips , sausage in batter and some scampi , the whole lot thrown in boxes, the fish batter was soggy, the chips looked like they'd been cooked the day before or at best hours before. I will never eat from this chippy again, absolutely disgusted, total waste of £18.

Homemade lamb n mint pie, chips peas and gravy for £5.50. Outstanding value and quality. Well worth the 10 mile detour out of my way.
