Absolutely amazing food!!! Was a last minute decision as I didn't realise you had Greek food. It was honestly, one if the nicest take aways we've ever had!! Thank you.

1st visit last week. I had small cod with few batter bits. Fish was amazing think it was loin. Massive big flakes of fish no soggy batter n no grease anywhere not even on batter bits. Will def go back. Big park, quite pot holey on entrance so need to go steady😜

Food came right on time food was delicious only downside is they forget my drink which I rang up and explained that my drink wasn’t here and I’ve been charged the £2.50 the lady on the phone got it sorted and delivery driver brought it straight away all in all happy with the outcome .

Probably best chippy in Retford, although suffering from shrinkflation. Don't mind too much, but used to be able to share chips and have some left over.

Best chippie in the area. Also do cakes, salad bar and jacket potatoes. Well worth it.

After travelling to Retford on Business, I was recommended this eatery to try. I can honestly say it is one of the best recommendations I've EVER had. The food is out of this world, the freshness, tastiness and hearty portions is something is amazing!!! I would drive back to West Carr from Leeds just to have this food again!!!! I can express my experience enough, fantastic friendly service too!!! Thank you!!!

I use this shop on a regular basis, pretty much every Friday. I have always found it more expensive than other chip shops, but that never bothered me, until recently the prices have gone up considerably and the portions are a lot smaller than they were before. Chips look and taste old, curry sauce was that thick it just came out in one lump on my chips. I will say that I will not be going anymore, its definitely not worth the money.

Paid for a cone of chips and got given half of it so went back in asking if it could get topped up kindly thinking it's a mistake but the woman won't admit shes made a mistake even after she topped me up telling me that's what I got in the first place

Visited previously , no complaints about food always good and fresh. Visited on lunch time Saturday , 2 sandwiches was OK. A portion of chips shocking, like they had previously been cooked or sat there. Very disappointed as enjoyed on previous times , makes me think twice on trying again!!

Spot on as usual. Lovely fish and chips.But now a bit of a price.Over £17for 1small fish 🐟 and small fish and chips plus curry pea's.Not there fault price of potatoes and suchlike.l wonder if the price of the products will ever go down 👇 again 😭.

Very good food BUT I couldn’t believe being charged £2.50 extra for a gluten free fish and then the young girl who served me asked if the gluten free chips also had the same charge and she was told yes I was gob smacked £5.00 extra for gluten free fish n chips I phoned about 15-20 chip shops in the area and all the ones that did cook gluten free did NOT punish you for having a food allergy we won’t be going back there to be ripped off

Best chippy but the times need to be changed on Google as it shows it being open plus the times look like you're open all day! Just been to find you closed at 15.30 and on the window it states you reopen again at 16.30!

So I can’t fault the food, although the portions are hit and miss for what you pay. What puts me off going in here are the staff. Your ignored when you go in, they don’t listen and more often than not, get your order wrong because of it. They’ll rectify it when you tell them but it’s just an overall inconvenience.

Nice take away. Fish and chips plus salads and other options. Also cakes and doughnuts. Friendly owner and they go above and beyond your usual chippy.

What's the point of advertising you close at 2130 but when i get here at 2103 you're shut and just grin and wave. My business lost.

It's ok, bit of a skin on the chips from being in water overnight or Drywhite if they use it, i had a fishcake, very nice & a jumbo battered sausage, batter was a bit dry on this, probably been in the cabinet and kept getting left at the back, will not use again, would rather travel a little further..

Very large portions. Had medium cod nice chunky piece of fish well cooked. Shared two portions of chips between the and still plenty left. Did feel ignored when first went in. Regulars obviously know to ask when you arrive for fish to be put in otherwise you wait to order then told will have to wait for it to be cooked but at least it's fresh.

Had some great food from here ear last week had 6 mini fish and two two portions of chips and two large peas for 15 quid really good value and the food was exceptional the only thing is is that it's very busy but I don't mind that because that means everything is cooked fresh service is very good and fast

I was very impressed with the staff and the quality of the food I ordered. The staff were extremely nice and chatty even tho they were busy. The kebabs I ordered were very tasty and a good portion size. Loved the food and will be returning.

The kebabs are utterly brilliant and so hard to beat for value and taste. The staff are so nice and and chatty it's like they have known you for years. The quality of the food is top notch and well worth a visit.

West Carr Road fish shop is normally spot on. On the evening I went they had no donner meat as they had ran out. So I was persuaded to try the chicken. Least to say I won't be trying it again. It was very bland. Some bits quite dry and most bits very dry. The chips as per normal where spot on. I don't like saying these things as I really enjoy this chip shop. It they don't have donner meat then it's battered sausage for me next time. I would highly recommend this place to all. It was just my luck to have a not so good meal.

West Carr is a lovely chippy. They've recently added a Deli Counter that looks really good. The chip butties are the best in the area, super tasty, lovely fresh bread rolsl wrapped up in a paper wrapper. Well worth a try if you are in the area.

On way home from Sundown Adventureland, Wife and three kids need feeding before we join the M1 to go North. I decide we'll drive through Retford and just stop at the first chippy we see. I could see there was a bit of a queue, but in my mind that probably means local people know it's worth queuing for. They were busy, with lots of orders being collected by car. It also looked like they were cooking each order fresh, with nothing just sitting. Another plus. We ordered two large chips, one large cod, nuggets, scampi, a spam fritter and (this was a risk...) a kebab. Oh, and I forgot a jumbo sausage which I had to go back in to add to my order after paying. I felt bad about that and were they stroppy were they stroppy with me? Not in the slightest. The kids loved the scampi, nuggets and chips! Seven and four year old were full, but found space for more chips when they'd finished. My seven year old also discovered she likes spam fritters. That's my girl! The batter was crisp on the cod, and when I asked for scraps, I wasn't expected a small portion of chips worth! That's all worth 5 stars, but here's what really did it for me... When you order a kebab, you're expecting kebab meat. And we all know what we mean. Tastes great, bad for you, your stomach doesn't thank you afterwards, but it tasted nice. That was what I was ready for. But when we got home, I discovered a pitta bread piled high with beautifully succulent pork. And I mean succulent. I should have guessed when I saw the Greek menus talking about gyros, but my powers of deduction weren't up to it! Anyway, it was in a league of its own. There's no dang way I could finish it, so I'm excited for lunch tomorrow. I'm not dietitian, and this is not medical advice, but I bet if you substituted your weekly kebab for this gyros donner or whatever it was at West Carr Fish Bar's, I've got a hunch it would be better for you and you'll feel better afterwards. I'll stop by again next time I'm in the area. Thanks for a good evening meal. The guy with the noisy kids and the hair. I used to live in Berlin, and I got to love Doenner. Over the two years I lived there, I don't think there was one weeks where I didn't have at least one. Succulent chic
