We popped in for coffee and breakfast, and were very pleasantly surprised! We ordered some toasted teacakes, which we enjoyed very much! If we had a complaint, the guy behind the counter just rushed all over the place, spoiling the tranquility of the place, and also the butter and jam portions were just dumped on the table, instead of being put on a side plate!

Excellent stop over on our way back to Norfolk. Delicious food served quickly, I had a ham, cheese and tomato toastie with slaw and salad, very good coffee too. Friendly service. Having obtained a Groupon Cake & Coffee deal we visited this establishment, the facility was well prepared to ensure that the relevant Covid precautions and procedures are maintained. The staff were friendly and efficient and the cake was delicious, however, the coffee came in a very small cup (don't know if this was because we were on the deal). The interior is a pleasant facility and if you are lucky enough to get a window seat the view of the quaint square is very good. During the present pandemic it is advisable to book and reserve a table.

First time we have visited Harry’s coffee shop and we were impressed. It was very busy so there was a nice atmosphere. We only had drinks but my mocha was lovely and my husband had a regular coffee which he also enjoyed. It was quite a small cup of coffee but he will just ask for a large next time so not a problem. We were served very quickly and by friendly staff. The food menu was extensive with plenty of choice for vegetarians.

I have been to Harry's a few times and love it, so when my Mum asked if there was good place to have a bite to eat and have a decent cuppa, my immediate choice was Harry's.And it did not disappoint. I had told her about the food they do there, but was in for a surprise - the menu has altered. A fab surprise, it has increased in size, the food all sounded delicious. I will try it all over time but I knew what I wanted to eat before we arrived. The bacon sandwiches are second to none.Mum had been going to order a blueberry scone, she had previous heard me rave about them. But on hearing my order, she changed her mind. We had them on Brioche, and it made a lovely change to standard bread. Everyone there is so friendly, Adam even offered to change tables for us, when he was clearly in the middle of his lunch. (But we didn't make him).We saw Lemon Drizzle Cake on the menu and thought about it, but decided we were full.....so bought some to bring home. Visitors to Retford who want easy parking should take the turning off Arlington Way (the ring road) and make their way towards the Cannon. Yes, it's a full-size cannon near the St Michael's parish church, which is interesting in itself because the gun was dragged all the way from Sebastopol, where it was captured in 1855 by Retford soldiers who went to the Crimea War. If you go round the corner to the top ,turn left by the little butcher shop you will find plenty of parking -usually even on the busiest days. Or go to the car park on your left as you enter this road into the oldest part of the town. But whichever way you go, or wherever you park, don't miss Harry's Coffee-House.

Was crossing canon square with my wife who has just had op on her foot. Needed somewhere to rest. spotted HARRY’S cafe this had been the Tiffin last time we visited many years ago. Found a seat inside and found also a lovely homely atmosphere with friendly staff. We had coffee and a Latte and two scones. Both were excellent, the black coffee i take my fife normally finds too bitter and strong, but not the taste she had of mine. But the scones were absolutely fantastic, my wife like lots of other women is a good cook but she said the scone are the best we have tasted anywhere in the thousands of miles we have travelled. Other items on the menu seemed very tempting but we had run out of time. There are several good cafe’s in Retford but Harrys is top of list from now on

Well we thought, after checking the brilliant reviews of this place, we better check it out. Found some groupon vouches (should have told us something). Not at all what we expected. On our visit there were loads of flies (must have been 20+) hovering below the air conditioning unit mainly. Everything appeared grubby, table, chairs, walls. I was even served a dirty fork to eat with! Part of the toilet was out of order too. The young female waitress was pleasant enough – coffee cups were varies and small (looked like they had been bought as a job lot from a jumble sale). On the plus side. The food was reasonable and, if you are a solo coffee drinker, there are numerous books and newspapers to read. My advice? Avoid. – not better than the KFC round the corner.

Myself, my wife Liz and two close friends, Sue and Geoff, had lunch at Harry's today. Liz and Sue had the Soup of the day, Leek and Potato soup which was delicious with various accompaniments, in this case, homemade cheese scones with butter, Geoff had bacon and brie toaster with chutney accompanied by fresh salad. I had a bacon and fried egg sandwiches on home made Brown bread, which I referred to as an Egg Banjo which is what we used to call them in the Army. Delicious with brown sauce. These were all accompanied by water for Liz, loose tea with milk for me and Sue and a freshly made large cup of coffee for Geoff. Myself and Geoff had a piece of cake afterwards. Me Ginger cake, moist and rich and yummy, Geoff had a fruit scone, again home made with thick cream and jam.The crockery was all white with Harry's written on and the milk was served in a jug shaped like a cow and a milk carton, great little touches.Staff were very friendly and attentive to us and explained to us the reasoning behind the name of the premises. On leaving we were presented with 4 scones to take home with us rather than them dry out and be thrown away. I would thoroughly recommend this little place of creature comforts to everyone, prices were very reasonable and worth every penny.

Today my Son and I had the honourable pleasure of stumbling upon this quite outstanding eatery/café. Tucked away it would be quite easy to walk past this delight of an establishment. With its unique decor and divine atmosphere this small wonder worked its magic. The staff were very attentive, thoughtful and pleasant. Adam came to ask what our chosen accompanying sides we wished to have with our chosen Panini's... While we waited, my Son and I just talked and laughed not long to wait and out came out food. What an absolute delight... from the salad and individual coleslaw, it was incredible how the tastes exploded into my mouth, obviously these were very well chosen quality ingredients. All in all, it would be an absolute travesty if you ate anywhere else in Retford without choosing to eat here first. I have absolutely no hesitation to choose to eat/drink here again and to highly recommend it. Well done to all concerned - this is what out cities need to bring them back to life, the typical chains are just that; typical! Visited Retford for a stroll about on Frday 28th August and the wife and myself wanted a cuppa, we had already passed this coffee house and also one that rated itself the best in Retford..As we walked back from the market,i took one look at the supposed best in Retford and ot looked like a greasy spoon, so remembered Harry's and walked just little a bit further and it was well worthy of the extra walk. As we entered a chap who I found out his name was Adam greeted me and my wife in to the shop and told us all about the different teas tney did, we opted for a cream tea with a new tea Id never heard of, but Adam said, try it and if you dont like it, I;ll change it..Then Will appeared and he had made the scones, they were lovely and freshly baked. The Coffee House has toilets for customers and the place is very clean. When in Retford again, this place is certainly one for us to visit in the future.

We each had cappuccinos which is the best coffee I've tasted in a long time. Far superior to the big coffee chain sludge that is churned out on every street corner! All in all I was so impressed with the coffee I bought some ground coffee despite the fact I have no cafetière to make it in! That says something.

This is a great little cafe run by Adam and Will. Their cakes are all made on the premises and are often straight out of the oven. Delicious. A great place to meet friends and chill. Highly recommended. Give it a go.

Really lovely café. I liked Harry's blend of coffee so much I had another cup and bought some beans to take home. The shortbread was scrummy too! And I love the individual terry towels in the ladies.

Thought we'd try Harry's after seeing the reviews on here and we weren't disappointed. Lovely ambiance, fantastic service and really friendly/helpful staff. Im fussy with coffee but they were happy to accommodate my request of hot milk with espresso on the side. Decided to have a chocolate brownie and I took up the offer of having it warm, certainly a good decision. They also do a loyalty card for drinks. Will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in Retford.

I've visited Harry's coffee shop a few times and as my title suggests I have had quite Differing experiences each time. The owner can be wonderful full of personality and charisma. He will come and chat and make you feel very welcome but me and other members of my party have noted that when the pressure is on or he is having a bad day it is very evident (pressure shows / service suffers)The setting is lovely and wonderfully presented. When we visited a fresh cake bake had just been done and looked beautiful. We ordered breakfasts which were a little against the norm in substance no beans, mushrooms or sausages but what we did have was very nice. There was no condiments on the table and when we asked for sauce the new silver foil was on and we all struggled to get Into it. A member of staff said have I done something wrong was the ketchup seal not taken off!! Now don't get me wrong this was not an issue at all but again it detracted slightly from the service impression. I guess it was just how the question was presented not that it was asked. The drinks are always lovely and the coffee especially is very nice.

I know that everybody's taste is different but for me Harry's coffee takes some beating!I and my wife have been coming to Harry's fairly frequently since it opened 15 months ago. There is a lot of competition in Retford but Adam has continued to improve his offering and has deservedly seen his business grow.Today was brilliant. We popped in for a light lunch - Panini & Coffee - and the place was humming. We struggled to find a free table - yet the service was prompt and polite as ever, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming on a cold winter's day.I hope this place continues to thrive.

My wife and I regularly visit this coffee house when we are both off on Saturdays. The coffee is great and easily competes with other coffee shops in and around Retford. Assorted food / snacks available and good value. Staff are most helpful and accommodating.

My Wife and I are regular customers of this fantastic establishment, it’s that good, we travel 17miles round trip just to eat there, it’s always, clean, comfortable, the staff are friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble, a special mention for Ruby, no matter how busy she is or how unwell she feels she always greets you with a smile and asks how you are, professional and a credit to her employer, thank you all for always being the best in Retford 😉

Not a bad atmosphere as you walk through the door, although it took a few minutes for them to realise I was there, luckily the TV was on current affairs. Some tables still had dirty plates on them. Ordered a large sandwich and was asked if I wanted extras on, (egg was mentioned but I didn't get any). The sandwich was well worth the money (£4.60) as it was really full. Negatives were: bread was soggy but this was due to everything inside, eg coleslaw, salad cream etc. This also meant the sandwich fell to bits so I had to eat it with fork. They used clingfilm instead of foil/paper to wrap, this added to the mess when it was unwrapped. Big one for me was the lady DID NOT use gloves, I mentioned this and she said that she had just washed her hands, the clothes she was wearing were really dirty which did not fill me with joy. Overall the sandwich filled me up, the staff was kind and helpful but I won't return as I prefer cleanliness above all else.

This pub is a tale of two halves. The decoration & ambiance of the pub is lovely, loos are clean and ample parking. The pub was wonderfully dog friendly & the lady behind the bar & taking food orders was wonderful, friendly and vey helpful, the drinks were great and amazingly cheap.....However..... I'm afraid the whole evening was ruined by the food. I ordered the Fillet steak, medium rare @ £25.00 (not expensive), I asked for side salad instead of onion rings, mushrooms & toms. No sauce. What arrived was a very small sirloin (poss rump) steak, 1/2 " thick with a good 1" of unrendered fat down one side and over cooked. Plus a side of pepper sauce I never ordered. I questioned if the order had been taken down wrong or misread but I was assured that the Chef says The steak is definitely fillet! & the sauce is complimentary!..... I am not a butcher but I do know what a Fillet cut looks like !!! This was NOT. I was on a date with my partner so didn't want to complain, or embarrass him, but I feel bad that I allowed him to pay for something I definitely didn't have! I ate the meal which was edible but not what it was meant to be. The couple on the table behind us had a lengthily argument with the chef about his steak, sent one back & refused to pay for the second!! I don't mind if things aren't available or the kitchen is short staffed. I don't care of orders are taken or read wrongly BUT to be LIED to is unforgiveable. If I was there on my own I would not have accepted my meal. That said, my boyfriend's Faggots were lovely.......In short, A lovely pub for a cheap drink.......just don't have high expectations of the food.

Enquired about my dog and advised dog friendly but no longer does food so makes any reviews a little academic
